5-0 out of 5 stars One of the weaker volumes, but still a wonderful series
My friend, a huge fan of the Warriors series, is what got me into this wonderful story, and I'm glad she did.
5-0 out of 5 stars There are not your ordinary cats
I am a librarian, and I started reading this series in 2005. I never really understood why it was for children because there is more violence and bloodshed then the Harry Potter series. Moreover, The Warriors saga became a lot more darker and gothic once it spun off onto the sequel: "T.N.P."

    Editorial Review

In the epic trilogy His Dark Materials, Philip Pullman unlocks the door to worlds parallel to our own. Dæmons and winged creatures live side by side with humans, and a mysterious entity called Dust just might have the power to unite the universes--if it isn't destroyed first. The three books in Pullman's heroic fantasy series, published as mass-market paperbacks with new covers, are united here in one boxed set that includes Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful novels, and deeply spiritual
These novels are wonderful: an astonishing concept, utterly believable characters, great plot-lines, and beautifully written.
5-0 out of 5 stars after His Dark Materials.... (from my blog)
I cannot paraphrase the story in any way that would do it justice. Pullman is beyond me; the story was too rich, too powerful, too complex and subtle and ambitious, and it had to be to be equal to what I now sit here wishing I could convey to you.
5-0 out of 5 stars A grand metaphysical journey with convincing characters and details
I just finished reading this grand trilogy to my kids, aged 8, 10, and 12.My wife ended up sitting in on almost the entire series, and all of us were riveted from Oxford to the World of the Dead and back again. These books are incredibly ambitious: they set out to stitch together a religio-political history of the multiverse with deep, informed reference to physics, religious history, adolescent psychology, Nietzschean heroism, etc. etc. etc.The result, as I read it, is one of the most compelling indictments of church and state ever written for a broad audience.Author Philip Pullman concludes, without didactic hamfistedness, that the first purpose of churches and governments is self-perpetuation through maintaining the ignorance of their adherents and citizens. The greatest wisdom and joy, in Pullman's worlds, comes of full, mortal, bodily engagement with the physical world per se: with domestic comforts, food, sex, art, aesthetic involvement, work well done, craft, cleverness, etc.The well-earned consciousness of a human adult, earned through Blakean experience, is the crowning moment of all creation.Antithetical to this wisdom and consciousness is dogmatic narowness, asceticism, monasticism, self-denial, narrowness of experience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Silkstripe, thunderclan warrior
i loved this book.i bet crowfeather and leafpool will have kits, but cinderpelt will be keeping a close eye because she is already suspecting leafpool and they will be half-clan which really causes problems.i wish squirrelflight, (by the way, i love that name!) and brambleclaw liked each other still.brambleclaw is becoming untrustful, i mean, of course he wants to see his half brother, but me and my friend, Skyleaf, suspect he might kill firestar.or (as a hint in the new book cover) firestar might die by protecting his clan from a bear.who will become leader if he dies?graystripe is nowhere to be found! :( hopefully cody will help him find his way to the clans.by the way, i liked cody, she would have been a good queen.there is no deputy so no leader!i just know brackenfur and sorreltail will have kits.i love the new territories, though i miss the old land and characters like the elders.i cannot wait until twilight coes out!!it is sooo exciting!!!!! hurry up!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars ANYONE WHO THINKS THESE BOOKS SUCK, YOU SUCK
This book is great!I'm am like the number one warrior fan and I can't wait for twilight.I have it on preorder and I think i'm going to die if I don't get this book.I can't wait to see see if brambleclaw gets back toghether and what will happen to leafpool and crowfeather.I LOVE THESE BOOKS AND IF YOU READ IT YOU WILL TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors of the Dawn
If you havn't read the series this book may be confusing. It is a very good book. The characters were mazing. There were five cats that walked all the way to the sun drown place. Feathertail dies but she saved all of the other cats. When they get back with thier Clan Squirrelpaw was told that her sister was captured by the two-legs. Squirrelpaw ended up saving her and a bunch of other cats. Graystripe was caught in the process of the rescue. Near the middle of the book the two-legs drive the cats out of the forrest. They head for the mountians to get to thier new home on the other side. In the mountians they find the tribe cats who helped save the kits. They stay with the tribe cats to regain thier strength an move on. I loved this book, it was amazing. If you like cats you will love this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dawn: The BEST book in the seires so far by: Rogueheart, a WindClan warrior
Dawn is the greatest book in the seires! I love it! I think that it is awsome how Brambleclaw and Squirrelpaw like each other so much. It's really sad how Graystripe is captured. And how Stormfur joins the Tribe of Rushing Water to be with Brook. But, all in all, this book is a great recovery from Moonrise. Me and my friend Blackeye,a ShadowClan warrior, were thrilled when we found out that Firestar and Sandstorm had kits, so it's nice to get both Leafpaw's and Squirrelpaw's point of view!

This Book was awesome! I had a blast reading it. In no time, it was my favorite book of the five I've read so far. Maybe it was my favorite book of all the books I've read in my life! It was definatly a top book. I never expected for any book to be as great as this book was! I would be really surprised if any book was better than this one! I would reccomend this book to anyone who takes interest in awesome books.

Fireheart's life is in danger. A mysterious "pack" is roaming the forest, hurting and even killing cats. Also, Bluestar has given up on Starclan thinking they're abandoning Thunderclan. And Tigerclaw (now Tigerstar) Fireheart's enemy has become Shadowclan's leader!

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors: Rising Storm....
There are two diffrent kinds of covers. One with Cloudpaw and Fireheart, One with fireheart and Sandstorm. Last tuesday was library day: The second one. I was thinking "The books I borrowed this time was boring." So I returned them, went to the fiction section and found 5 series of warriors. I picked the 4th in the series, as It was appealing. I read this one first, I had gotten three books. This book is far by better than almost ANY book I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Troubles Heat Up
This was a more intense "reality-check" kind of book. Fireheart is now appointed deputy in the place of the forever-loathed Tigerclaw, and he has new responsibilities way beyond being a warrior. His best friend has gone, and left Fireheart to deal with problems alone. Fireheart, formerly a kitty-pet, visited his sister, Princess, from time to time at the twoleg place and has promised to watch over and possibly mentor her oldest son in Thunder clan, Cloudpaw, who is stubborn and disobediant to the warrior-code. Thunderclan's leader, completely shocked by Tigerclaw's betrayal, has been mentally and physically weakening leaving most of her priorities as burdens to Fireheart on top of those of being a deputy. This is a hard book to read but so real that, however emotional it is, you can't stop reading the adventures.

A lot is going on in this book and to Fireheart its a little overwhelming Cloudpaw is more lyal now than ever and is getting better everyday. I soon expect him to be a warrior. Fireheart is deputy and taking on a lot of responsibility. Also him and Sandstorm have come quite close i hope it lasts. Fireheart and Graystripe have always been best friends will Graystripe stay loyal to the clan hes in now? ... Read more

At last Tigerstar and BloodClan are gone. The forest Clans are currently living in peace, but then Brambleclaw gets a mysterious dream from Bluestar telling of a prophecy and how he must meet with four other cats and listen to midnight. Brambleclaw struggles to make heads or tails of this dream. Meanwhile, Firestar's daughter Squirrelpaw continues to get on Brambleclaw's nerves. Although later on the cats get along better after Brambleclaw meets Feathertail, Tawnypelt (his sister), and Crowpaw, who is a rather irritating apprentice. Feathertail is joined by Stormfur, her brother who wants to protect her (both of the warriors are Graystripe's kits), and Squirrelpaw tags along as well.

This is a Really good book.I am glad that they switched the main character because Firestar is a leader so he can not move up the ranks in Thunder Clan. I kinda wish she did not Brambleclaw bet he is cool. This series is as good as the other series.Sqirrelpaw is pretty cool so are the other "chosen" cats. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Secrets of the Forest
In the third Warriors book, Fireheart must find the answers to many secrets, though some of them are probably better left undiscovered. At the start of the book, Fireheart sneaks away to visit Ravenpaw, who is still at Barley's farm. Ravenpaw reveals that Oakheart had never been murdered at all, but simply crushed in a rockfall, and then Redtail was murdered by Tigerclaw.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forest of Secrets by "Lightstar"
They're all sooo good! Fireheart is still struggling over Tigerclaw's treachery, Graystripe's passionate affair with Silverstream, and Cinderpaw's lost future because of her injury. Oh, and the mischievous Cloudkit/Cloudpaw. Still, the ending's sooo good. Even though poor Silverstream who just HAD to die! At least her kits (later on Feathertail and Stormfur) survive. Anyway read this one. It's soo suspenseful! And it's soo cool that Fireheart became the Clan deputy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most Mysterious Book in the Series
This story is about Fireheart on a quest appointed by himself to find out the truth behind a power-thirsty murder and also to uncover proof and details to back up his story that Tigerclaw is behind the whole treachery. On the way to find the truth he discovers secrets unknown to the rest of the clans (except those who witnessed them) and meets other obstacles on the way. This story is the most suspenseful one in the series along with the perplexing prophesies and the weep-out-loud deaths and partings. There is also a shocking ending which I assure you will enjoy. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars There are maybe... no, wait, I'm wrong.
There is nothing better than this, my all time favorite book. With great characters, and a wonderful plot, there is very little more a good reader could want. It has emotion, action, and still maintains great writing. You have a main character who is easy to fall in love with, for all her faults, and her other half, the other main character, who you also come to love with all your heart. The story keeps moving, and doesn't get boring for a second, because even in the less interesting parts, it's not boring, just less interesting than the brilliant other parts. The story itself is great and amazing, and every other synonym.
4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting storyline
Fantasy not being my favorite, I found this one very good.I listened to it on audio CD, and it is read by a whole cast, not just one person doing different voices.A young girl is thrust into a harrowing adventure that she never expected. She lives in a world where each human has a demon, and civilization seems to be run by the "church".This story is very tense and exciting, going from one unexpected incident to the next with a very flowing narrative.

5-0 out of 5 stars This's been my favorite book for 8 years
If you're an easily offended religious fanatic who's always looking for the vaguest insult or contradiction to your beliefs... I guess you shouldn't read this. (Actually, you could probably read this one and just skip the sequels.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors Series
The Warriors series is the best series in the world! It's suspenseful and full of action. After each chapter is a new problem to think of. Betrayal, romance, action, and humor are found throughout the book. In the Warriors: The Darkest Hour, Bluestar is dead and Firestar is now leader of ThunderClan and with Tigerstar leader of ShadowClan, there's going to be problems. Tigerstar has formed with RiverClan to create TigerClan. A new threat grows in the forest though, stronger than TigerClan.

Bluestar has been killed, So Fireheart has become leader of Thunderclan. When he is receiving nine lives from Starclan (like heaven), Dead Bluestar tell that four will two, Tiger and lion will battle, and blood will rule the forest. Mean while Tigerstar want more power so he hires Bloodclan to attack Thunderclan. But Bloodclan kills Tigerstar and then attacks Thunderclan. There is a raging battle and you have to read the book to figure out who wins! I think it is the best of the six because it has suspense and action.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clash of the Sky Galleons
Stewart and Riddell can do no wrong. This book is just as exciting and involving as their previous "Edge Chronicle" series. The cliff-hanging parts are always nail-biting and yet intelligent without causing any eye-rolling effects. No matter how outrageous ,they are always believable. By now we have come to know and love some of the characters. I think this is the hall-mark of a truly GOOD book- that you worry about non-existent people and places. At 422 pages this book is not long enough for me. I hope these two pair up for a long time yet to come. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Still my favorite series.
My first thought after I finished this series was "why did I wait so long before getting my hands on these books?"
5-0 out of 5 stars True Fantasy!!
How can one describe these books?? They are some of the greatest fantasy I have ever seen (and I read a lot!).The scenes of Death...in the Old Kingdom...especially the characters of Mogget and the Disreputable Dog in _Lirael_ and _Abhorsen_ are all fantastic and imaginative.Words cannot describe it.
4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely and strong
This trilogy is satisfying and surprising in the strength of its female characters while never losing sight of a good story.Fantasy at its finest...you get parallel worlds, magic, mundanity, and misunderstanding, but not to comic effect, rather to catastrophic endings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great story
The book starts right where Midnight ended- the questing cats are now heading back home, wondering as they go how they will break it to their clans that they must leave the forest that they have lived in for generations. They come upon a Tribe of wildcats in the mountains- cats with different anscestors and different lifestyles, yet Stormfur feels strangely at home with them.... This is a great book for children and cat lovers like myself. For more cats stories reach for Why Some Cats are Rascals by B. Nowiki.

5-0 out of 5 stars Twoleg villians and tragedy...
The series just keeps on delivering. The 'evil' Twolegs are destroying the forest, and the six cats are still on their quest.
2-0 out of 5 stars The worst of the Warriors series.
Any person who plays RPGs knows what a Mary-Sue is. Essentially, it is a character that is too perfect, cliche, and dominates the plot. When I read this book, I saw that many of the characters were Mary-Sues. This immediately turned me off from the book. In other Warriors books, the plots were more realistic, and based on real cat behavior. I enjoyed this aspect of the series. However, in this book, there is a lot more typical fantasy, and not nearly enough realism. It's just not a convincing book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Last of the Sky Pirates (The Edge Chronicles, Book 5) by Paul Stuart
The Last of the Sky Pirates was a great fantasy/adventure story. I especialy liked the way Paul Stuart connected the first few books in the series to the latest few. I can't wiat for the next books in the series to come out!
5-0 out of 5 stars The sequel to Midnight Over Sanctaphrax
When I finished book 4, "The Curse of the Gloamglozer", I realized that the stage had been set for an incredible book 5.Thankfully, the books in this series come out much more quickly than the ones from J. K. Rowling , so I didn't have long to wait for "The Last of the Sky Pirates", the best in the series so far.
5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book! But add a caution regarding young readers
This series is amazing-- I love it!The author/illustrator collaboration is really special.I even ordered two books from the United Kingdom Amazon because they won't be published here for a few more months. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars A good kick off for the series
I think this book is a good starting for the series and interduces the charecters very well though I would have given it a five star if it had more story. It seemed a little like a the series of unfortunate events how he goes from one danger to another then another then another from the Bloodoak to the Gyle Goblins, from the Forest Fire to the Edgelands. But very well written otherwise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Base
Beyond the Deepwoods is an awesome book to start out the series with. I would definately recommend reading the introduction because it is very important for your understanding of the book. The book also gives a base for all the different creatures the characters will meet in the following books, especially the banderbears.

3-0 out of 5 stars this is an o.k. book

5-0 out of 5 stars STILL just as terrific as the first time!
I'm so happy to see that I'm not the only 40+ person who has rediscovered this book from their childhood.I, too, first read this when I picked it up in the school library around 1967 or so.I've thought about this story on and off thru my entire adult life and FINALLY asked a librarian while visiting the other day.....she went straight to it after only getting a brief description of the story.I sat down last night and began re-reading.....I could feel myself smiling and slowly slipping back into my carefree childhood.I only wish Eleanor Cameron were still alive that I could write and thank her for creating such an incredible story. It feels like a long overdue homecoming!I can't wait to get home and read some more (just like I did 40 yrs ago!!!)

5-0 out of 5 stars A blast from the past....
Boy does this book bring back some memories.I orinally read this book when I was around eight or nine years old.I must have read my copy about ten times over course of the next two or three years.that was thirty years ago.I vividly recall this book and I recommend it to young and old.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Book, Wrong Cover
This is a fantastic, classic book written in the 50s and much loved by the generation that began reading in the 50s and 60s!Today's children should like it just as much, especially those interested in space travel and science-fiction.

3-0 out of 5 stars YIKES!
Okay, let me start off by saying I love animals especially cats, so when I found a children's book about them, I thought hey, this might be fun to read. When I finished book one, I began to wonder if I should read the others. I am not a wimp, except when it comes to animals getting hurt (having wittnessed a dog/cat attack, which still gives me nightmares) I had some serious doubts about continuing with this series. But I sucked it up and went on to read book two. As I finished that one I remembered the line that the little boy said to his grandfather in 'Princess Bride: Jesus, Grandpa! What did you read me this thing for?'. I commend those of you who can read these books and enjoy them, I however find them what what...dispiriting.

into the wild is a really good book.it is about a housecat named rusty.he goes into a forest and joins a group of cats called thunderclan.in thunderclan,he has to hunt for his clan and defend it from the three other clans.the other clans are windclan, shadowclan, and riverclan.warriors is so good that i was already able to make two people like it and i am trying to convince another.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Series
I love this series, but mostly because it's about cats. I would have liked it to be written better, but I do not expect it from a childrens book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Edge Chronicles fan
I love the Edge Chronicles. So far this is the best. At first Twig was messing things up on the sky ship but when he became captain he triedto get through the cruel Twilight Woods and made it out into the Mire. He found ScreedToeTaker and found out who the real stone pilot really is.Finally, he finds out that Screed owns a sky ship. It's the best because it has action and adventure and it uncovers lots of secrets.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most memorable, but also most brutally violent book in the series
Book 2 is where the Edge Chronicles really takes off.The sky pirate adven
