5-0 out of 5 stars An 8-year old's dream
My son loved this book. It's full of enough obscure information to make him feel like an expert in the field of Bionicles. Of course, it's full of so much information that he's now an insufferable font of Bionicle facts!

The Edge Chronicles is the best series I have ever read. They are full of adventure. I liked #3 the best. That's the one where Twig tries to find his lost crew mates. I have read all the way up to seven. I am reading number eight right now. Great series!

2-0 out of 5 stars The most uneven, least compelling, and most macabre entry in the trilogy
The Golden Compass was an exciting, straightforward adventure. The Subtle Knife introduced more characters and more storylines. The Amber Spyglass, the third and final installment, is the most complex and sophisticated of the books, but it is also the least compelling (and the most macabre).
3-0 out of 5 stars Started great, ended terrible-- read Eoin Colfer Supernaturalists instead!
Great first 2 books, absolutely amazing. The last one got weird and nasty and depressing and anti-religious for no good reason I could see, and the series ended badly.So... if you want to read something as good as the first two books in Pullman's series, read Eoin Colfer's the Supernaturalists instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gets tangled in its own feet.
I loved the first two books in the trilogy. I was expecting to love this one. I did not. What happened?

4-0 out of 5 stars Missing Page
The book itself was great. I loved it. However, the book is missing a page. The pages go 225, 226, 229, 228, 229. There is another copy of page 229 instead of page 227. That is why I gave it a 4 star rating. Fortunately, you can still understand what happened even without this page.

5-0 out of 5 stars just a good book
I think that midnight over santaphrax is a great book. Yes, so it is the last of twig's adventures, well at least know. but overall it is a super good book. any edge chronicle fan would enjoy it. i know i did and i am now on the 8th book.

5-0 out of 5 stars .).) My heart beats fast, I want it to last .) .)
This is DEFINTELY the best Edge Chronicle ever.Twig has now fully matured (his hair is as awesome as ever) and he must embark on a mission to save his crew, which has been dispersed by the Mother Storm.Even if most of it isn't told from Twig's POV (meet Cowlquape, the biggest loser in Sanctaphrax) it's still nice to hear about Twig.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's O.K.
The Curse of the Gloamgloazer can only be understood if you have read the first three books first. The whole setting is in the "The great city of Sanctaphrax" which is a city on a floating rock slightly held up by chains. The story focuses on a young boy of about fourteen years of age that has been sent to the schools of Sanctaphrax to get a good education rather than being a "Sky pirate" like his farther. He is reluctant to go at first, but eventually gets comfortable there with Linnius, his family friend and teacher, and Linnius's daughter Maris.
4-0 out of 5 stars I miss Twig but I look forward to getting to know Quint
I really liked the Twig series within the Edge Chronicles (his hair is adorable, though I wouldn't want it myself). He was smart, brave, determined. . . actually Twig was a little TOO perfect. He hardly makes any mistakes and is always aided by unbelievable luck, so it's a little refreshing to have a character or two that honestly makes mistakes.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Taste for Blood
Two teenagers, a floating rock, and one remarkable story. What happens when the Most High Academe's apprentice and daughter befriend each other? Romance, death, and spine tingling adventure. In this 4th installment of the series The Edge Chronicles 4: The curse of the Gloamglozer, Quint, the son of sky pirate captain Wind Jackal and apprentice to the Most High Academe, has witnessed something so horrible and heart shattering that he will never be the same. He saw all of his family, except for his father, die in a fire right before his eyes. Little did he know that worse things were to come. Quint learns that the Most High Academe is hiding something deep within the floating rock called Sanctaphrax on which they live. A monster, a shape-shifter, a demon? What is it? When Quint starts making risky choices, he will endanger not only his own life, but the lives of millions of creatures that live on The Edge. And as if that's not enough, he sets the Most High Academe's creation free and almost loses his only love, Maris(the Most High Academe's daughter) to another chilling creature with a taste for blood. What will happen next? This book is thrilling, but can be graphic at times. It is beautifully written and astoundingly remarkable. I loved it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The absolute best in the series
Finally! Qui-Gon has taken Obi-Wan as his Padawan learner, right when Obi-Wan turns thirteen, and they are off on a mission to the planet Phindar, a planet ruled by a group named the Syndicat. The evil members of the group renew people as punishments. That means they wipe their memory, and send them off to another planet far, far way. Pretty cruel, huh? Plus, Obi-Wan gets to meet his Phindian friend Guerra Derida again, and Guerra's sister Paxxi. To paraphrase the two... not so! Paxxi is Guerra's brother, and they are both extremely likable, funny characters. Together the four work to outwit the Syndicat, plus maybe recover Terra's memory. Terra is Paxxi and Guerra's sister, but she has been memory wiped and now leads the Syndicat. Can Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, with help from the Derida brothers, foil the Syndicat's evil? Read The Hidden Past to find out.

3-0 out of 5 stars The story continues...
The 'Subtle Knife' is the second book in Pullman's His Dark MAterial trilogy. The story of Lyra continues in the book, picking up where 'The Golden Compass' leaves off. To begin, this book would be hard to follow if the reader has not read the preceding volume. There are characters and story lines in 'The Subtle Knife' that began in 'The Golden Compass'. I believe this book would be a bit confusing and the reader would not enjoy it as much without the preceding book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Lyra, new adventures, another mission and more friends...
"The subtle knife" is the second book in Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" triology. The first book in the series is "The golden compass". If you haven't read it, don't continue reading this review because it has some spoilers. In case you have read "The golden compass", and are understandably eager to know how the story continues, I will give you some hints.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Sequel
Few sequels live up to the predecessor, but THE SUBTLE KNIFE does exactly that. In this volume, Pullman dives deeper into the themes, settings and characters presented in THE GOLDEN COMPASS. As in the first installment, the setting is well realized and the emotions are deftly rendered. As inall of Pullman's works, the characters are vibrant and engaging, and will leave an inprint on readers memories. I can only hope the third book will be as good as the first two.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book about mushrooms I 've ever read
The book Stowaway to the Mushroom Planet is a great book. Some characters are Chuck and David the original space travelers from the first mushroom planet book.Chuck and David live fairly close to each other. They live pretty close to Cap'n Tom's beach.About the problem in the story, when David, Chuck, and Mr. Theo Bass blast off from Earth they hear something like a soft voice.Lucky for them (not really) a curious professor Horatio Q. Peabody stows away in their space ship but they can't really turn around so they take him along.A while after they've been on the misty green planet of Basidium (the mushroom planet), Horatio enters a sacred place on Basidium without permission. Thanks to that the ancient ones nearly take out Chuck, David, Mr. Theo and a few other people. In the end after they've left Basidium and have gotten back home, Horatio can't remember pretty much anything due to a drink he took on Basidium.Mainly, Horatio's upset and he steals Chuck and David's space ship, but something weird happens while he is in space.I'm not going to give away what happened but, Horatio crash lands about a month later in the ocean not knowing anything about Basidium. Then Chuck and David go help Horatio out of the ocean and walk him up the beach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sequels and Science......what a joy!!
This book follows the wonderful story set down by Cameron in her first book of the series. As a science teacher, I am still captivated by the wonderful work and research that went into the book in light of the volume of space knowledge known at that time.A wonderful flight to worlds unseen where you can relax with well developed characters and charming guests as well. A book that will grab you by your imagination and never let go! Well worth the read, well worth a reasonable price to own the series. A book I look forward to reading again.4-0 out of 5 stars Stowaway to the Mushroom Planet

After reading Beyond the Deepwoods, I quicklybecame hooked on this series.Although I am slightly older than the target consumer (24yrs. old), I enjoyed the main characters and fantasy atmosphere.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Winter Knights
If you like to go into the impossible and dare to go into danger, this is the book for you. This book talks about Quint, an apprentice of two of the most powerful people around where he lives. He figures out a way to save his beloved floating city (Sanctaphrax) from flowing into an eternal winter. As you continue reading, Quint's life starts to unveil itself, and he does things he never thought he could do before. The Winter Knights is a guaranteed page turner!

Good story, terrible writing.
2-0 out of 5 stars Oh dear...
First off I'd like to tell you that this is only the second Star Wars book I've ever read, 'Jedi Search' being the first. I actually liked the first book, it drew upon the Star Wars lore well and was a decent read. However, this book made me groan in so many places that I felt almost compelled to create an account here to have a little rant about it (BE WARNED, THIS MAY CONTAIN A FEW SPOILERS). Thusly:
5-0 out of 5 stars A good book!
I thought that this was a very good book. Not really one of my favorites, but still a good one.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good One
It was a good action book, alot of unexpected things happend to the Animorphs, another good into to the Animorphs series.

3-0 out of 5 stars Animorphs The Close Encounter
This book is interesting for kids that like their mind wonder and imagine how it feels transform into an animal. Also, this book is for kids that like to read adventure. This book is about a group of kid that can transform into diffrent kind of animals, but they cant stay to long into an animal or they will stay stuck into that animal and they cant go back into being a human and they have to act like an animal and think like an animal so that they can survive and live long. Also they have to to eat real live animals, and watch out for predetors that will eat them. It also lets know kids that its ok to be diffrent than others that every kid is unique in thier own way.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a bird. It's a plane. It's Tobias...
Tobias isn't like the other Animorphs. When they're done fighting Yeerks or flying through the sky, they just morph back from their animal bodies to their regular bodies. But Tobias stayed in hawk morph for longer than two hours. Now, he's going to be stuck as a hawk forever. Tobias is trying to deal with this pain, but nothing can make him feel better about it. Especially when he starts to feel attracted to a female hawk--even though he's a human on the inside.

I was a bit disappointed with this book because there was not as much action as in most other Star Wars books.
5-0 out of 5 stars A great introduction to two of the best Star Wars characters
Even though this is a young readers book(ages 9-12), any fan of the Star Wars series will enjoy this well told story about the little known history of Obi-Wan Kenobi's teenage years.
5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Reading
One of my favorite characters in the Star Wars Episodes I, II, III, and IV has been Obi-Wan Kenobi. My second favorite character is Qui-Gon Jenn. The Jedi Apprentice Series answers many of the questions that one might have wondering through their minds about these two characters. Some of these questions being how do you become a Jedi Apprentice, what was Obi-Wan like growing up, how does he learn to use the force and did Obi-Wan ever get to experience falling in love etc...?Dave Wolverton starts this series off with Book 1 and Jude Watson writes Book 2 -18.Both writers are good but Jude Watson is the one who bringing to light the emotions and bonding experiences between the Jedi Knight and his Apprentice. 5-0 out of 5 stars Deltora Quest : By Emily Rodda
If you ever want to read a good book, you need to read the series of Deltora Quest. These books are about a prince named Lief, an old palace guard named Bardah, and a wildgirl from the forests of silence named Jasmine. In the book, the Shadowlord has taken over the kingdom of Deltora, and has taken the seven gems from the Belt of Deltora and has put them in seven very dangerous places to guard the gems. Now that Lief is old enough, he, Bardah, and Jasmine will go recover the seven gems. I would reccomend that all people interested in adventures books needs to read this book.I have read lot's of books, but none of the books that I've read have been this good.I also guarantee that you will like this book just as much as I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars The City of freaky Rats
THE CITY OF THE RATS is the third edition of the DELTORA QUEST series. When Iread I felt a soft tingling and realized for the third time a Emily Rodda book was drawing me in. I could feel her literary power coursing through me and I must advise young immpresionable children to stay away from this book as it will give them nightmares. Now I must make a comment relevant to the subject: because DELTORA QUEST is based on Welsh Mythology like THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN why wasn't one of the rats a twisted little creep obssessed with the Opal, the new gem our heroes are after? I have no clue but I think Emily Rodda is trying to force us to learn from our repeating history which has included creepy rats conquering whole cities, or at least paralyzing them with fear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quest for the Stones
1. Deltora Quest is about a boy named Leif, Jasmine, and Barda. They are looking for the third stone, THE OPAL. The opal's power is to tell the future.

4-0 out of 5 stars another misunderstood masterpiece
Recently, I just happened to stumble upon my old book collection and found "The Beginning", along with my other Animorphs books from long ago; a series that, despite the special place it held in my heart throughout childhood, I had begun to forget about.
1-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't stand it
This series has been building up incredible stories and developing wonderful characters for over fifty books. In this book, all that is thrown away.Entire sub-plots (ie. the Yeerk Peace Movement) are left out.Entire characters (ie. Tobias's mother) are forgotten.People are needlessly killed.Incurable misery ensues.Every hope for every character's future is destroyed in a hateful, meaningless ending about "reality."Whether or not this is how real wars end, it is not what the Animorphs are about.
2-0 out of 5 stars Horrid
The ending of the war was satisfactory. I didn't mind the sacrifice and the bringing up the whole question of yeerks and the morphing cube intrigued me. Some people think this book is depressing, but I think that Visser and Andalite Chronicles were more depressing, yet fun at the same time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unfinished Word
The Edge Chronicles Book #6, Vox, was packed with action. There is a ton of fighting using bow-and-arrows, talons, and knives. On page 359 in the hardcover edition, there is part of a word missing. The sentence is, "Slashtalon leaped forwards, all four sets of talo slashing at once." There is the word talo instead of talons. Other than that, the book is excellent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rook just gets better and better
Vox is a very enjoyable installment in the Edge Chronicles, the next in the Rook Barkwater sequence. The Last of the Sky Pirates left with somewhat of a cliff hanger, this book picks up on that.
4-0 out of 5 stars Should've been named "Rook"
In the darkest and most complex Edge Chronicle ever, Vox Verlix plots away in his crumbling tower, seeing all, watching all, and waiting for his chance for revenge against those that betrayed him.Possessor of the title of Most High Academe by methods not quite orthodox, Vox is now a prisoner of his own machinations, his greatest triumphs usurped by those he once trusted.
