2-0 out of 5 stars Not so good for Animorphs
I didn't think it was a good book, it was kindof boring, sorry. It did show cat instincts good though and we got into the mind of a cat.

3-0 out of 5 stars Get inside the mind of a cat
What I like about reading the Animorphs is getting into the mindset and body of another animal. In this book, they morph into a cat, and I think my cat would be very satisfied with the depiction.Even I feel like I learned a few things about cat behavior.Otherwise, I don't think the story advanced much from the first book.It was a lot of recap. On to book #3.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too formulaic. Even for the Animorphs
Eh. The read was O.K., But it wasn't all that. I read this series aloud to my son every evening. A couple of chapters. We have read many of these. Out of order. They have been quite fascinating. Up until this one. It slogs along a bit forced most of the way through. The writing is far too technical too often. In the books we've read the writing tends to be a bit more on the slash 'n dash style. Quick short sentences that lead up to a moment of intensity. We enjoy the slash 'n dash technique far more than the style this book was written in. Practically all suspense was drawn out of moments that should've been dripping with intensity. I guess it is to be expected. Since this was only the second book in the series, she was still finding her way as to where the characters were going, and completing the development of her technique and direction for the characters. Still a decent story, just nowhere near the quality of some of the later works. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fling me Farther!!!
My 10 yr old daughter read this book and could not put it down.As soon as she finished this one, she was looking for Corby. She is looking forward to the Hugo book.
5-0 out of 5 stars The "Far-Flung Adventures" series is way cool
If you're thinking about buying a gift for a young reader in the seven to nine age group, you may want to consider this new series.Brought to you by the same people who did "The Edge Chronicles" (another excellent series, but for slightly older kids), this one has large, easy to read print, simple language and wonderful illustrations to help keep the story bubbling along. To add to the fun, the dust jacket opens up into a fold-out map based on the geographical setting of the story.
5-0 out of 5 stars Magical!
Perfect read aloud, short and very sweet and illustrated brilliantly through out the book. My son age 7 LOVED it!! Small chubby little book, more adventuresare coming but this adventure of Fergus Crane's is complete on it's own. The next ones listed presently are "Corby Flood" due Aug 2006, and "Hugo Pepper" follows in Feb 2007. We cannot wait!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars dread mountain is awesome
This book is one of the best books I have ever read in my life. You really should read it,infact I bet you would enjoy it to! If you do read this book it will probabably take some time to read but, if you read the whole entire book you will be dying to read it again. Also, you need to tell all your freinds how good it is and I bet they would like to read it to!

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book in the series!
Our three heroes are on the track of the fifth gem which lies in the dangerous Dread Mountain, but before that Lief has a terrifying vision of his parents home, barren and destroyed.Lief, Barda and Jasmine, continue on their journey, managing the long walk by flying in the pouches of a peaceful species called the Kin.When they enter the domains of dread mountain, they must face poisoin gnomes, grey guards and messages written by the writer's blood. And worst of all they are stuck in the terrifying mazes of the evil mountain! But this only seems small compared to the darkness they feel when they face the fifth guardian, the evil Gellick, who is invincible to destroy. Will our heroes survive the dreads of Dread Mountain.........................................................

5-0 out of 5 stars The DreadedMountain of Summer Reading
Books Books Books. You are always forced to read stupid books for Summer reading. I begged not to have to read them and so the choice was given if I could find a book in the next week to read I didn't have to do summer reading. After searching without success I found a book to replace Summer reading that was the newest of The Deltora Quests at the time. Like the four books before this book cast it's spell and I could not put it down out of interest. It is not exceptional, not the most action packed, not the most romantic and certainly not having the best monsters but I will always consider it my jewel. I'd take Gellick over the Hoboken Chicken any day! That poisin spitting frog on the front, he will set you free. ... Read more

This was one of the first Jedi Apprentice books i read and i loved it! In this book Qui-Gon actually starts to realize that he's kept Obi-Wan in the dark and that he should have explained more about his old apprentice Xanatos. Also there's this part where Qui-Gon is going to rescue Obi-Wan and starts to notice how much Obi-Wan deserves to be a jedi. this book is very emotional and gratifying, i wish Jude Watson would write more! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Valley of the Lost Minds
In this thrilling seventh installment to DELTORA QUEST series I had nightmares about. Hey I read Stephen King novels and laugh so that's saying a lot. It wasn't the prospect of dissapearing into a Valley: or guy with Hate, Greed, Pride and envy strapped to his chest. It was the fact the characters were solving all these difficult riddles that scared me. They solve so many difficult riddles and yet when it comes to recognizing who's the villain there just so stupid. It takes me weeks so solve puzzles that take them minutes to solve. Why don't you try? It takes minutes to find the villain but to them seconds. So Who's smarter

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Quick Book
This Book is very quick to read. One because it's only one hundred and fifty pages. Two because It's realy good. It has many unsuspecting twists and a very unpleasant face off with an arrogant and immortal night at the end [see front cover to know what I'm talking about]. I am writing a book too. I'll try to post a few snippets on the internet but anyways you should read this book. it is awseome and it'll at the most take a couple of hours to read. I can't wait to read the sequel wich is Lake of Tears.

5-0 out of 5 stars The start if a great quest
Have you ever dreamed of being part of a great quest and becoming a hero? Well, now you can by reading the book The Deltora Quest The Forests of Silence by Emily Rodda. The evil Shadow Lord destroys the belt and scatters the precious stones that made the belt magic all across the land, so the people of Deltora will live in torture and suffering. Jarred a old friend of the old king Endon, plans to retrieve the stones and rid the shadow lord of the land to once again have peace. Jarred's son and another old friend go out to find the first stone of Deltora in the forest of silence. They encounter all kinds of people, and creatures throughout there first step of their great journey. Will they be able to finish there great adventure or die trying?

5-0 out of 5 stars Deltora quest : reviewed by anthony siciliano of South woods middle school
Deltora Quest is about three adventurers names Leif, Barda, and Jasmine, that have to find the 7 gems of Deltora (the island they're on). The reason that the gems are missing in the first place is that the shadow lord has hidden them among his worthy creatures (ex. Giant rats, Poison frogs, King serpents etc...). In their adventures, the friends must group together and kill all of the beasts in order to get the gems and put them back in the belt. In the end, they must defeat the shadow lord in the eighth book in a strange but cool twist with the gems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent story
Five kids meet a good alien. He fights against bad aliens to save the Earth. And he gives them a special power to fight against invaders. The power can change them into animals. But does this power help them to fight against bad invaders?
5-0 out of 5 stars very good book
Animorphs #1 the Invasion is a really, really great book. Now i'm reading all of the other books in the series. I'm on the third book,"The Encounter". Or at least I think that is what it is called. I even watch the show. I read this book about a year or two ago. Anyway, if you don't own this book, buy it and read it. If you do have this book and you haven't read it yet, then what are you waiting for? Start reading it right now. This is in my top 5 favorite books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent series
Note: This review pertains to the entire Animorphs series, rather than this specific book.

Title/AuthorStar Wars Jedi Apprentice The Threat Within
4-0 out of 5 stars A Certain Point Of View
I realize that a number of people did not enjoy this book. I, however, did. I supose that it all depends on what you are looking to get out of the book. If you are looking for character developement, realationships, and interaction, as I was, then you will be very pleased. However, if you are looking for an outstanding plot with twists and complexity, then you might be dissapointed. (Let's keep in mind that these are still children's books; once I admitted that, I think I enjoyed them more, because I did not expect as much.)4-0 out of 5 stars A good book, yet a not so good way to end the series
I love the Star Wars Jedi Apprentice Books. I have been reading them ever since they were published. Although I must admit this is a good and well written book I would have liked to see this series end better. I was hoping perhaps it would lead us into Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, and judging from the cover I bought the book believing that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan would be forced to fight each other, yet what it turns out to be is just that they are just practicing their light saber skills. I was dissapointed but I cant deny that I enjoyed reading the book. It shows Qui-Gon starting to really look at Obi-Wan not as a child anymore but rather as a fellow Jedi Knight. For the first time we see Obi-Wan really take charge of a mission. This book was pretty good, exciting, and full of suspense. I just wish this wasnt the book that ended the series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Deltora Quest Book 2: The Lake of Tears
The Lake of Tears is the second to the Deltora Quest series. In this book the trio of Lief, Barda, and Jasmine are off to the Lake of Tears to get the second gem to the Belt of Deltora. The gem was the Ruby, which they had to defeat the evil Thaegan to get. In the first book of the series, Lief found out from his father, Jarred, that he was the one who was meant to save Deltora by finding the Seven Gems of the Belt of Deltora. By defeating Thaegan they shall have two of the gems and be on there way to saving their home from the evil Shadowlord.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!!
This was a very good book, I like everything (the characters, story, magic...) but the bad dude.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good continuation from the first novel
Deltora is a land of magic and monsters, a shroud of evil hangs above it, dragons lie dead in their lays and three courageous youths are on an adventure to free their land from the evil shadowlord. Lief, Jasmine and Barda are three very different people, and from the first book they together, defeated the evil gorl of the Forests of Silence. In their next journey to the cruel Lake of Tears, they undergo two grotesquely squashed twin-monsters, a bird trapped in the body of a beast and a Rallad man from the town of Ralladin- where noone is able to speak.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bed-time counting can be fun
Out for the Count is the kind of book that wins in all respects. The prose is accessible but not over simplified. The pictures are dramatic but with a touch of humour. The story is simple;while the tension develops to a (hopefully)pleasing conclusion. It combines an interesting story with an opportunity to develop counting skills. It can be read and re-read without ever losing its special appeal. My first son,Tom,who is now nearly 12,grew up surrounded by books, from an early age. "Out for the Count",featuring his namesake,in all kinds of dicey, imaginary situations stood out as his favourite bedtime read. It helped to ignite a love of books that has led him to challenging literature of many kinds. I have no hesitation in recommending this book for children from 5 to 8/9 years. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cornwall, NY Sixth Grader
I am a sixth grader. The author of the book is K.A.Applegate. The characters names are Cassie,Tobias,Jake,Rachel,Marco,Tom,and Chapman.I liked this book because it has kids who can turn into any kind of animal. It is about friendship. It is also about a mission that they have to go on.My favorite part of the book is when Cassie turns into a dolphin to get to the ocean. What I dislike about the book is that they can not tell us there last name because if they do they will be killed or be made slaves.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great underwater adventure
I thought this book was really good, the Animorphs took a good underwater adventure. I thought the whole book was fast paced, my favorite part was when they were in dolphin morphs and faught that shark.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best
This is one of the best books in the Animorphs. It is also a crucial part of the series. I have read this book at least ten times. Cassie is my favorite Animorph, and this is the first book told from her point of view. It's generally about the Animorphs adventuring under the sea to find out whether someone is down there calling to them, but there were lots of smaller bits that I really liked. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A powerful blend of science and magic
This is one of the most powerful fantasy stories since Lord of the Rings. Blending science and magic, myth and even theology into a complex and thrilling adventure story that takes the reader on a journey through worlds that are both strange and familiar. Lyra and Will are two endearing heroes and Lyra's daemon is a wonderful creature, not a pet, but part of her soul. This is imaginative fiction at its very best, with rich characters, exciting conflicts and a story building towards a grand and thought-provoking climax. Heartily recommended to anybody who likes to become absorbed in their reading. Like Harry Potter, Mortal Engines or Hecate's Child, you might not notice time passing as you read it!

4-0 out of 5 stars A good read
I found this triolgy to be very good, well written, and good characters. But at times, the story was long drawn out, pullman tried to gain suspense through complex details, but by the time he finishes a scene, its been stretched to the point that all the action leaks out. Overall, a very good book, but not excellent. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The imposing sands
After leaving the dreaded city of the rats, Lief, Barda and Jasmine cross barren wastelands to obtain supplies and food for their next destination. They find a busy town Rithmere and enter a fighting contest which they win.But even though they come out with jewels and riches they are kidnapped by the evil grey guards and taken to a secret hide-out, the hide-out of the adventuring Doom, and his resistence. There they are taken prisoner, will they ever be able to reach their next destination, the invincible and rather evil sands, the shifting sands? This book is a little dull and is losing the context the pre books had. It's still good!

4-0 out of 5 stars My Review ofThe Book
I thought the Shifting Sands was a good book but I think that they could have made it longer and make someone get poisened because then it would make the book more interesting. I thought that the book was very good. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A short, easy good read with a great hype and storyline suited with a unpredicable string of events!
Deltora quest is a wonderful book series equiped with a well written and smooth going plotline that never fails to entertain you, this will keep you reading, and for as long as the series goes you will be glued to the adventures tale. The books starts out with a full explanation of how the Shadow Lord( A ruler hidden in the Dark Shadow Lands, a place unknown to Del Kingdom and the rest of the land of Deltora) To two counties silently wage against each other as the Palace of Del goes along with it's duty, foolish Kings and Queens following the rules and foolishly blinded by a great magic that stops them from helping Del and it's starving people. The beggining of the book offers a great story to help make sense of what you read but you amazingly open your eyes to surprise as the characters watch it all unfold. The Shadow Lord ceases controll of Del and all of Deltora andscatters the7 gems of the Belt of Deltora accross lands known to be dangerous and impossible to reach. The 3 main characters of the book keep a strong standing personality throughout the enitire set of 4 books, in one excellent put together read full of suspense and goodness and wickedness. Some parts of the Quad I found great was the riddles with the guard, all of the characters showed their intellagence and it was enthrilling! Another was the Nij and Doj chapter, for it was surprising as is just showing how everything you read in this book has a message to another part, so you need to hunt for familiar word or clues to figure out what to do next. In the Bridge Gaurd's riddle about Thaegan, you notice 2 of Thaegans children we're Jin and Jod, and Nij and Doj is Jin and Jod backwords! If you read everything they say backwords the enitre chapter is revealed! I recomend this book for all, old and young. It's clever and excellent. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My Second Favorite in the Series
Everworld, book 3:Enter the Enchanted,is awsome. It's told from April's point of view this time, and it reAlly works. Although her sentences are a bit choppy, and she describes things quickly, but I guess that's just how April thinks, so to speak. This time, the companions-April,David,Christopher,Jalil,and Senna-are travelling to Galahad's castle, and when they get there, they find that even a thing as simple as feast can turn nasty real quick in Everworld. Merlin shows up, along with Loki, the Norse god of mischief, and they end up get into a colossal battle. Merlin brings dead stuff back to life, Loki grows 20 feet tall or whatever, and Galahad, the perfect knight, gets a blood transfusion from April. Action, action, action, and I haven't even mentioned the dragons! All in all, a great book, with flaws so minor, I can't even remember them now. More or less, there's only one way to describe it:Magic. ... Read more
