MAGICAL!
This book is a lot of fun, as it reveals magic(fiction) to be true.

The Ologies are Awesome!
This is third of the "ologies" I have purchased for my 13 year old daughter. We gave her the Dragonology and Egyptology books for Christmas. They are all three gorgeous books that she enjoys over and over. To call this a pop-up book really doesn't do it justice. All kinds of little pockets, notes, baubles, decorations, and such. WELL worth the money.

Entertaining and Fun
This book is well made and visually appealing.Not only a reading pleasure but a pleasureable reading experience that makes it a great book to share with someone. Great Books
All the Harry Potter books are magical, and these just complete the enchantment. They are a must have for any fan of the Harry Potter series. Young or old, anyone will enjoy them.

Great Fun
Enjoyable quick reads that supplement Harry Potter's world and give a nice fix while waiting for the next novel to come out. The proceeds from the sale of these books also goes to charity. I've always wanted to know more about the history, geography and culture of the magical, non-muggle world than the Harry Potter novels tell us and books like these fill us in very nicely!

I enjoyed reading these 2 little books! They were very interesting! In 'Quiditch Through the Ages' it had a wonderful history of the magical sport! It made you feel like it had really happened, and that's what great books are supposed to do! The 'Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them' was inspiring, it put your imagination to work!

Giving geeks a good name.
Encyclopedia Brown was my childhood hero. I liked him so much I named my cat Sally Kimball. Not one to stand out in a crowd, Cyc (on the covers of the old scholastic paperbooks) looked like a carbon copy of my 2nd grade self. Of course, I was sitting inside reading about his adventures during recess, not solving crimes, with wits perhaps not quite so sharp. And my suburb did not have quite as many opportunities for me to distinguish myself with crime-solving ability. Still, Cyc taught me lessons that I saw myself one day applying, once I escaped Red China.
Are You a good detective?
This story is about a boy who starts a detective business and his name is Leroy Brown, but all his friends call him Encyclopedia.His father is the cheif of police and no one in the city of Idaville(where he lives)had gotten away with any crime in over one year!Whenever his father gets a hard case, he tells it to Leroy and it's solved very fast, but it's their little secret.The answers to all the cases are in the back of the book, but sometimes it's fun to solve them yourself.Some cases are easier than others and some are harder than others but they all make this a good book!

Still a favorite after 20 years...
I read all the books I could find in this series as a young girl.To this day, I still remember some of the answers and clues (a door swings out towards its hinges).I am so glad to have found these books and hope to share them with my son and nephews when the time is right.I'll probably read them all over again...that is how much I enjoyed them growing up.

Umm..........
What a life that Lemony Snicket has. I loved the format of this book. It was like a newspaper artical at first.I didn't think it was that interesting. I mean peoples lives are interesting its just i couldn't get into it. I love all of this other books just not this one. This book tell about the life of Lemony Snicket.

Every sentence hides a secret!
Seriously, after about five pages into this book, you'll feel like you're reading a coded message from one spy to another. Like a previous reviewer said, it's best to read this after reading a lot of the other books (I would try up to Hostile Hospital) so you can understand it.I began to read this after Austere Academy and I regretted buying it.Then, after reading the other books, I gave this a shot, and it was so much more easy to read!!So much is revealed, but also so many more questions are raised.I have the paperback edition, but I think I'll get the hardcover, cause that reversable cover sound GREAT!!!! If you are a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, pick this up!

You really don't want to read this....
i know some people have said that you shouldnt read this until further on it the series but keep in mind that this book was published before a lot of the series. so read it WHILE you're reading the series and you'll catch on to all the little clues and hints. i can't wait until the book with the letters from beatrice comes out, she is more important than just the dedication lines. Keep in mind, Lemony has a lot up his sleeves for the last book...

Advice of sibling true - they get better and better
My little brother passed away at just 17 years old on July 25th, and I remember when I first started reading year 4, he said that each book only get's better and I have a long way to go. Yes, it took me nearly three months to read this novel, but not because I'm that slow of a reader. More likely, the story and characters were so interesting that I preferred dragging out each chapter to save myself from moving forward to year 5.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! It really IS a book you could read again and again. If I was stranded on an island for weeks and could only bring ONE book, I would DEFINETLY bring this book, without a doubt. I like the book
I choose to read Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban this summer,as a summer reading book because I thought the movie was good. So , I decided to read the book and see what is different and the same. J.k. Rowling has a great nack for writing children's because i love the books she writes.What I don't like is that the book ends and doesn't say where Harry stays. Does he stay with his godparent or dr does he go back to his uncle & aunts house.Maybe he stays with his godparent or go's to his uncles or he stays in hogwarts. I would like to read the fourth book to find out.

It was a great book
This summer i read the book Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. I thought the book was greta and so was the movie. In the book there is some parts that are the same in the movie and somethings that are in the book not in the movie.That is what i did not like about the book the parts should of been explain so you could understand it more. Overall i like reading Harry Potter books because they are very interesting and exciting to me.

This is a plot for everyone because it is very entertaining. It is also very easy to understand. Once you start reading, you can hardly put the book down. There are also links to other episodes of the book that makes the reader want to read more. There are usages of magic, fantasy creatures, and competitive sports in the plot to create colorful variety to the audience. J.K. Rowling uses the purity of adolescence and interprets it in the form of courage, cooperation, and youthful innocence that showed the power to overcome many things.

The book starts off at Harry's aunt and uncle's house. Harry goes back to Hogwarts for his second year at school. There is a new character and his name is "Dobby." He is a slave. He does not want Harry Potter to go to Hogwarts. Dobby made it so that Harry could not get on the train so Harry took a flying car. And Dobby made the Blunger in Quitage chase him and break his arm.

I am in just as much suspense as my 7 year old to get to the next chapter!!
I bought this box set because of readers reviews & I could not be more happy.My son follows me around the house and has asked me at 7am to read more Captain Underpants, how can I say no... he loves it and we love it too.The author does a great job presenting the stories in a way kids and parents will love.I am waiting to see an ACME product in the book to along with the PATSY 2000, 3-D imaging machine.

Funny ,Yet Bawdy reading. My seven year old brought one of these home from the school library one day. Although initially shocked by the bathroom humour in the book I realized my son was reading as fast as he could. This is the adult equivalent of a "couldn't put it down" novel. I purchased the 5 book series and tried rationing the books over a week or so. Let me tell you , he wanted the next book as soon as he finished the previous one.It is important to note that this should not be the only type of reading your child should do, I look at these books a kind of a fun playful reward, like a movie or music.

Kids love poopy talk
My daughter discovered the Captain Underpants series a couple of months ago and I have to say, at first I wasn't sure I wanted to encourage her reading nonsense material.When I read the titles of the books, I had such a laugh and it really hit me why some kids love these books--they are sooo funny and it's exactly the kind of thing that a attracts a child.Kids love potty talk and silly pictures and the seeing Harold and his friend get into constant trouble with the principle at their school.These jokesters are forever playing pranks and trying to get themselves out of trouble.Yes, it's complete nonsense, but, it got my daugther to read chapter books!she's hooked.She loves to read and it's her love for reading that I'm encouraging not the nonsense. ... Another Amazing Charlie Bone Book
It' about this boy named Charlie Bone and he has to find the Mirror of Amoret before The Shadow takes his mother away.What I liked the best about this book was that there was always a new surprise around the corner.What i disliked about the book was that the ending just left you hanging.It didn't really finish the way I thought it would, but it was still really exciting.

Another good book
Not sure if this is the last book in the series or not. It ends abruptly. However, it was a good book to read, so 4 stars. I had Artemis Fowl, and 2 Charlie Bone books at the same time. I read all, but my kids dropped Charlie in favor of Artemis. Hence the 4 stars.
Loved the Ending
This book is, as usual, Charlie Bone and his adventures. Unlike the other books, this one is not about keeping some child secret from the bloors but stoping a horrible creature from destroying the city: The Shadow from the Red King's painting. It was pretty good!
My 6 year old son says, "My favorite part was when Captain Underpants pounded a rock on the hamster's head." "I would tell my friends to read it."

"Rraww," growled the prowling lions in this book, The Carnivorous Carnival. When this book begins, Violet, Sunny and Klaus are trapped in Count Olaf's car trunk as they go to Madam Lulu's carnival. At the carnival, it is weird. The Baudelaires worked at the House of Freaks, where people make fun of them.Also there were deadly lions there too, which ate people, a dangerous roller coaster, andMadam Lulu's strange crystal ball. Eventually Count Olaf decide to put the House of Freaks in the lion's den.The other freaks must fight the Baudelaires. None of the freaks falls into the lion's den.The Baudelaires barely escape, but with Count Olaf. I'd recommend this book because it is suspenseful, humorous and has interesting characters.

i loved this book.i bet crowfeather and leafpool will have kits, but cinderpelt will be keeping a close eye because she is already suspecting leafpool and they will be half-clan which really causes problems.i wish squirrelflight, (by the way, i love that name!) and brambleclaw liked each other still.brambleclaw is becoming untrustful, i mean, of course he wants to see his half brother, but me and my friend, Skyleaf, suspect he might kill firestar.or (as a hint in the new book cover) firestar might die by protecting his clan from a bear.who will become leader if he dies?graystripe is nowhere to be found! :( hopefully cody will help him find his way to the clans.by the way, i liked cody, she would have been a good queen.there is no deputy so no leader!i just know brackenfur and sorreltail will have kits.i love the new territories, though i miss the old land and characters like the elders.i cannot wait until twilight coes out!!it is sooo exciting!!!!! hurry up!!!!

Charming adventure story
The story (and series) centers on a family of four orphaned siblings, 14 year-old Henry, 12 year-old Jessie, 10 year-old Violet and 5 year-old Benny.The four have runaway and are attempting to live on their own in order to avoid being split up or sent to live with their mean grandfather.They locate an abandoned boxcar in the woods and set up housekeeping there.They manage quite well until Violet falls ill causing them to ask the local doctor for all.In the end though all is well.
So simple and so wonderful!
These books are wonderful. My son who loves sci-fi, dragons and lego, thinks these wonderful books are AWESOME! They capture his attention like no others. As I read these to aloud to him, he laughs, asks questions and wishes he could be there. Although the writing is very simple, the ideas behind them are not. When I first started reading this series to him he said to me,"Mom while you are reading I always feel like I am there with the children doing what they are doing." "YEAH!" Great stories about children who are THINKING and I love my son to want to emulate that!

If I were king of the forest...
I used to like these books. Now I think they are stupid. Especially Benny. He is so stupid. And he's really annoying. There has to be at least five billion books in the series. Anyone that has all of the books in the series must really, really, really, really, really love them. Why do they call their grandfather "Grandfather"? Violet's like "Oh Grandfather! You would think that they would either run out of places to go or get tired of going on the trips. I would be suprised if they had a week at home in one year. Why do they call them the Boxcar Children? In some books they probobly don't even have the word boxcar in some of the books. Don't they ever go to school? Acually I wouldn't be suprised if Benny didn't go to school considering he's so stupid and annoying. They are so cheesy. No family gets along that well and never fights. If there was a family like that it would be a miracle. And I'm talking about ones with more than one child. And nobody has that perfect of a life. Decent Companion to Dragonology
I originally bought this for my nephews, who have a fascination with dragons and such at the moment. It's definitely a result of the Harry Potter phenomenon, but the similarity ends at its "magical" quality. Its intent is the opening of minds to the hidden worlds of the imagination, and a rekindling of young peoples' interests in areas of mythology and classic literature. Supposedly the work of the last dragonmaster, the book aims to dispel the myths on dragons, recalling Hagrid's comments that they are "very misunderstood creatures". While Dragonology has lots of bells and whistles and moving parts, this is, as it says, more a handbook, and not as fun as its predecessor. It is great for stimulating the imagination of children (of all ages, apparently), but it's a slightly more involved text than Dragonology, and therefore likely to appeal to children 10+. It's artwork and some of its content appears based on The Flight of Dragons, by Peter Dickinson, upon which Discovery's Dragon's World DVD was also based. Both of these are great additions to this book, if you can get them.

The Perfect Companion to "Dragonology"
I love this book! I think it might even be more fun than "Dragonology"! The illustrations are still excellent and all the dragon lore is there, but this time, you get to apply your knowledge! The Dragonology Handbook teaches you how to be a Dragonologist through puzzles, dragon riddles, and learning how to write in Dragon runes. The book also has more information on the different dragon species and some other species that weren't described in "Dragonology". It also says where these dragons can be found and what they prey on.
Very good companion to Dragonology
