3-0 out of 5 stars Paper qualtiy poor
The box set is great reading...but for the price...especially the list price of $70.00, I would have expected higher quality paper. The set is printed on pulp paper and will not last worth beans and the covers are thin and not robust. You may as well buy the cheapest set you can find, because the quality of the cheaper books is not any lower, the books are just a little smaller and the "bonus content is just the first chapter of the next book and some other tidbits of marginal interest
5-0 out of 5 stars Book or Movie what a ride
I've seen the movie and I've read the book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Excellent! Superb! (if you like fairy-tales then you may read this review, if not, don't go any further)
The Chronicles of Narnia are beautifully written books. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read. I would strongly reccomend them to everyone. I have read them all seven times, and I still can't decide which is my favorite! People who don't like them surprise me. Not only are they wonderful fairy-tales, they also have a lot of underlying Christian themes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jack & Annie in China
When Jack and Annie found out that they were going to China, they went straight to the treehouse. They met Morgan there, and she told them that they had to save a library in China. The dragon king was going to burn all the books, because he didn't like them. Jack and Annie saw a huge map of the castle where the emporer lived and they used it to help them find the library. In the end, Jack and Annie saved the library and were heroes again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Warriors: Rising Storm....
There are two diffrent kinds of covers. One with Cloudpaw and Fireheart, One with fireheart and Sandstorm. Last tuesday was library day: The second one. I was thinking "The books I borrowed this time was boring." So I returned them, went to the fiction section and found 5 series of warriors. I picked the 4th in the series, as It was appealing. I read this one first, I had gotten three books. This book is far by better than almost ANY book I have ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Troubles Heat Up
This was a more intense "reality-check" kind of book. Fireheart is now appointed deputy in the place of the forever-loathed Tigerclaw, and he has new responsibilities way beyond being a warrior. His best friend has gone, and left Fireheart to deal with problems alone. Fireheart, formerly a kitty-pet, visited his sister, Princess, from time to time at the twoleg place and has promised to watch over and possibly mentor her oldest son in Thunder clan, Cloudpaw, who is stubborn and disobediant to the warrior-code. Thunderclan's leader, completely shocked by Tigerclaw's betrayal, has been mentally and physically weakening leaving most of her priorities as burdens to Fireheart on top of those of being a deputy. This is a hard book to read but so real that, however emotional it is, you can't stop reading the adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars windsor jr high school-lv
A lot is going on in this book and to Fireheart its a little overwhelming Cloudpaw is more lyal now than ever and is getting better everyday. I soon expect him to be a warrior. Fireheart is deputy and taking on a lot of responsibility. Also him and Sandstorm have come quite close i hope it lasts. Fireheart and Graystripe have always been best friends will Graystripe stay loyal to the clan hes in now? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Vacation Under the Valcano - Magic Tree House #13
Shortly before leaving for vacation, Jack and Annie remembered that they needed to go to the magic tree house to solve a mystery. Morgan said "your aventure is going to the Roman times you need to find this book or it will be lost forever""WOW! I always wanted to go to the Roman times this will be fun Annie" said Jack.
5-0 out of 5 stars Volcanos wow!
My son and I have been reading the Magic Tree House series for the last couple months and we love them. These are the first books that my son has taken a real interest into, checking them out and reading them on his own.Vacations under the Volcanois our favorite one so far. After checking out a bunch from the library we finally decided to buy a set, and he was so disappointed that this one wasn't part of the set that he bought it seperatly on his own. This book has sparked a whole new interest for him.
5-0 out of 5 stars Magically Adventurous!

5-0 out of 5 stars Midnight by "Lightstorm"/ "Lightstar"
At last Tigerstar and BloodClan are gone. The forest Clans are currently living in peace, but then Brambleclaw gets a mysterious dream from Bluestar telling of a prophecy and how he must meet with four other cats and listen to midnight. Brambleclaw struggles to make heads or tails of this dream. Meanwhile, Firestar's daughter Squirrelpaw continues to get on Brambleclaw's nerves. Although later on the cats get along better after Brambleclaw meets Feathertail, Tawnypelt (his sister), and Crowpaw, who is a rather irritating apprentice. Feathertail is joined by Stormfur, her brother who wants to protect her (both of the warriors are Graystripe's kits), and Squirrelpaw tags along as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Good Book
This is a Really good book.I am glad that they switched the main character because Firestar is a leader so he can not move up the ranks in Thunder Clan. I kinda wish she did not Brambleclaw bet he is cool. This series is as good as the other series.Sqirrelpaw is pretty cool so are the other "chosen" cats. It has love, action, mythology, and mystery twisted into one. I advise everyone to read this book. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Even readers who don't normally enjoy Arthurian legends will love this version, a retelling from the point of view of the women behind the throne. Morgaine (more commonly known as Morgan Le Fay) and Gwenhwyfar (a Welsh spelling of Guinevere) struggle for power, using Arthur as a way to score points and promote their respective worldviews. 4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the 800 pages
As a mom of young children, I don't often take on 800+ page books but I bought this one online wihout looking at the page count. I am so glad I did. While it took me almost 2 months to read, I enjoyed every page. It's a wonderful retelling of a story that I thought I knew well. I really liked that it gave it's own unqiue twist and provided a new side by telling it from the view point of the women - much more than the typical story of Guinevere, Arthur and Lancelot. It's starts before Arthur becoming King and continues past the holy grail quest - the full story told in a unique and fanscinating manner. It's wonderfully written and while not a quick page-turner, I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful twist on a classic tale
A wonderful twist on a classic tale - I've loved Arthurian legend since the first time I saw Camelot performed with Julie Andrews and Richard Harris.Ever since I've read any version of the story I could get my hands on - which have included various tellings form Arthur's point of views as well as Gueniverre, Lancelot and of course Merlin. The Mists of Avalon is by far one of my favorites because here the usual villan, Morgaine (a.k.a. Morgan La Fay) is the main character and are lead through the tale seeing it through her eyes which as you can imagine sheds a completely different light on things. This book is fabulous - I'm sure you will enjoy it completely. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Long chapters, great book
I am 1 chapter away from finishing this book, I have to say it has been an experience. Most of my friends wouldn't go near this book because it is so complicated, you really have to hold your breath and read. I have to say though, from my view point, I find the chapters long and exhausting. J.R.R. Tolkien has a very overwhelming sense of writing. But so unique it's story becomes classic. It took me months to read this book, and it will probably take me longer to start the second. I reccommend this book 10+

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic, for a Patient Reader

2-0 out of 5 stars Oh well, I tried...
Many people gush over the LOTR series like they have nothing more to do. Curious, I went to find the first book, being the FOTR, to see what all the hype was about. Now, don't get me wrong. LOTR is good, but not as good as most people actually say it is. Sure, Tolkien created a interesting world full of unusual people. But must he go over every little detail? Sometimes he just keeps describing something for so long, my head starts to hurt and I keep losing my place or reading the same sentence over and over again. His dialogue is bland and there is really no emotion to it. The characters are just as bland as the dialogue. There is no or little character development in this book, despite its size. Characters should be 3D. Not that all of Tolkien's characters are flat. Actually, Bilbo is more 3D than Frodo. The other characters--Well I won't even start. The list is too long. I just fell asleep reading this book. Believe me, I tried really hard to read this book. But I just can't. I admire Tolkien for being able to create a world where fantasy rules, but the writer must be able to control his world freely and realisticly so that we can read it and enjoy it. It is sad to know that LOTR fans point their fingers accusingly to someone who writes something similiar to LOTR, but the book that person wrote is actually better than Tolkien's work himself. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Loved It
I loved this book. It was a great read. Tiria finds the two injured birds, Brantalis and Pandion. She also has a few visions of Martin, who tells her to sail for Green Isle. This lets Tiria go on her adventures while the Abbeybeasts unpuzzle the riddles. It also speeds the plot up a lot. Tiria finds Cuthbert, and sails to Salamandastron. There she picks up 30 more hares, her regalia, and sails to Green Isle. There the book comes to an excellent conclusion.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended for fantasy readers in middle school, high school and beyond
Young Tiria Wildlough is an ottermaid touched with destiny: she journeys from Redwall Abbey to an isle where she must fulfill an ancient prophecy to gain her inheritance, and face a wildcat chieftain and his catguard slave masters. Her involvement in an otterclan battle will change her world in this latest Redwall saga for fantasy readers in middle school, high school and beyond.
5-0 out of 5 stars An aquired taste
With Redwall, my experience is that you get into it early, or not at all. I first was introduced to the world of Mossflower when I was eight, and I have never left it. Now I am a teenager, and when I try to get my friends to read it, they call it childish and trite. I realize that the plots do aquire a certain sameness over the course of the series, but I find that incredibly comforting. I know that one or two good beasts will die, but the good guys will win, and the bad guys will get their tails kicked in an extremely satisfying manner. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our son has never been so enthralled over a book
We bought this book for our 8 yr. old son and it's the first book that we couldn't pry from his hands.I never thought I'd hear myself say, "Son, would you please stop reading.".The illustration in the book as well as all the elements are beautiful and it's just so full of interesting "things" including a bunch of stickers. The stickers are so beautiful that my son didn't want to use them so they wouldn't get messed up. He wanted to keep them perfectly preserved.Every page is a suprise. He loved this book so much that he begged us to buy Pirateology and we didn't hesitate.

The model dragon was cool and you can even hang it from the ceiling
3-0 out of 5 stars Purchase for the Dragon model
I originally bought this for my nephews, who have a fascination with dragons and such at the moment. It's definitely a result of the Harry Potter phenomenon, but the similarity ends at its "magical" quality. Its intent is the opening of minds to the hidden worlds of the imagination, and a rekindling of young peoples' interests in areas of mythology and classic literature. Supposedly the work of the last dragonmaster, the book aims to dispel the myths on dragons, recalling Hagrid's comments that they are "very misunderstood creatures". While Dragonology has lots of bells and whistles and moving parts, this is a simple guide to tracking and identifying dragons of various types, and the information within can also be found in either the first Dragonology text, or the Handbook. The Dragon model, used for identifying dragons in the wild, is quite a treat, however, and easily assembled, though I would expect it to be easier for 10+ year olds. The model itself is made from very thick, durable cardboard (almost like wood), and, for the price of less than $10, it's a decent value. While the tracking guide is great for stimulating the imagination of children (of all ages, apparently), it's a slightly more involved text than Dragonology (and on par with the Handbook, from which it was derived), and therefore also likely to appeal to children 10+. ... Editorial Review

Morgan Le Fey, a magical librarian from the time of King Arthur, has charged a brave young pair of children with the task of freeing an enchanted dog from a spell by collecting four gifts. In the 18th easy-to-read chapter book in Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House series, eight-year-old Jack and seven-year-old Annie travel back almost 200 years to the Great Plains to find a "gift from the prairie blue." Along the way, Annie and Jack make friends with young Black Hawk, narrowly miss a buffalo stampede, and learn about how the Lakotas view the earth and their place in it. (Ages 8 to 12) ... Read more

Would you ever want to be chased by a big buffalo? I read a book about two kids that did. It is called Buffalo Before Breakfast by Mary Pope Osborne. This book is about a boy named Jack, a girl named Annie and a dog named Teddy. They travel back in time. This story is also about the buffalo and Native Americans. This is a really cool book. One of my favorite parts is when they saw a huge heard of buffalo.I also liked this book because I am a child and I would like to travel back in time.In this book I think that the author wants to share what Native Americans used to do.You should read this book to see if Jack and Annie, along with Teddy, get back to their own time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome read
I am reading this with my 7 yr old and 4 yr old and we love the stories. It is warm fuzzy reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Why Did I Wait So Long?
I'd watched the television series over the years and thought I'd like to read the books, although I was kind of embarassed to tell anyone because they were considered to be written for children or adolescents.
5-0 out of 5 stars an avid re-reader of the series
I've read these books since I was a little girl up to the present (46 y/o), and continue to do so.They are my very favorite books, I just ordered another set having read them so much over the years that my second set finally started falling apart.Anytime I get depressed with the world around me, with the behavior of people, (no one seems to have manners anymore, the willingness to work hard for and take care of their families, etc.), I read these books.I also learned a lot about pioneering days, how people cooked, built houses, made clothes, cleaned, washed, etc, etc, etc.Children who were able to go to school ( and some who couldn't) were expected to learn and in most cases did, and from the results of a sample questionaire that was on the internet some time ago knew a lot more than the average kid today.I can't begin to explain the benefits of reading these books to anyone no matter what age.I adore Laura, and plan to hopefully go the the Laura Ingalls Wilder house and museum in Mansfield, Mo. soon, as well as DeSmet, SD.I want to see the things she always talked of, such as Pa's fiddle. These books should be required reading in schools.I never much liked the series on TV however, they made up a lot of situations that were not believeable, and in general just didn't follow the books much.On the other hand, I'm glad someone did decide to do the series, it keeps Laura and her family alive in a lot of people's minds that haven't read the books. But, I can't say it enough, the books are much much better, READ THEM!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Secrets of the Forest
In the third Warriors book, Fireheart must find the answers to many secrets, though some of them are probably better left undiscovered. At the start of the book, Fireheart sneaks away to visit Ravenpaw, who is still at Barley's farm. Ravenpaw reveals that Oakheart had never been murdered at all, but simply crushed in a rockfall, and then Redtail was murdered by Tigerclaw.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forest of Secrets by "Lightstar"
They're all sooo good! Fireheart is still struggling over Tigerclaw's treachery, Graystripe's passionate affair with Silverstream, and Cinderpaw's lost future because of her injury. Oh, and the mischievous Cloudkit/Cloudpaw. Still, the ending's sooo good. Even though poor Silverstream who just HAD to die! At least her kits (later on Feathertail and Stormfur) survive. Anyway read this one. It's soo suspenseful! And it's soo cool that Fireheart became the Clan deputy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most Mysterious Book in the Series
This story is about Fireheart on a quest appointed by himself to find out the truth behind a power-thirsty murder and also to uncover proof and details to back up his story that Tigerclaw is behind the whole treachery. On the way to find the truth he discovers secrets unknown to the rest of the clans (except those who witnessed them) and meets other obstacles on the way. This story is the most suspenseful one in the series along with the perplexing prophesies and the weep-out-loud deaths and partings. There is also a shocking ending which I assure you will enjoy. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good Beginning to Series
Ten year old Charlie Bone discovers he has a unique talent - he can hear the thoughts of people in photographs. Charlie's Grandmother Bone and her sisters are delighted that Charlie has inherited powers, the gift runs in the family and his late father also was one of the "endowed". They insist that Charlie attend Bloor's Academy where he can further develop his powers. Charlie reluctantly goes and soon realizes there are odd things going on at Bloor's. Before he quite knows exactly what is going on, Charlie is deep in a mystery involving a case with something mysterious inside it and a missing child and also discovers his father may not be dead after all.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wickedly Funny
Charlie Bone likes soccer and TV, but not much else. He likes to hang out with his next-door neighbor and best friend, Benjamin Brown, and Benjamin's dog, Runner Bean. For Charlie, life is pretty good.

4-0 out of 5 stars English Class Review
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis are great children's books. They are easy to read and interesting. In The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, it starts out with Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter having to go live with their uncle because of the war and air raids from Germany. One day while playing hide and seek in the house, Lucy hides in a wardrobe and finds herself in another world; Narnia. She meets a fawn and becomes friends with him. He warns Lucy of the White Witch warning her of her power. When Lucy returns to her world, her siblings don't believe her but later on all hide in the wardrobe and walk into Narnia. Edmund betrays his siblings and sides with the White Witch, who makes it always winter, but never Christmas. They run around, following Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, trying to hide from the White Witch while trying to meet Aslan, the lion at the Stone Table. Aslan talks to Edmund and settles for him to never betray them again. The queen does not want the children to be in Narnia because of the prophecy that says that four people will take over Narnia and overthrow the queen. There is a battle over Narnia between the children and the Witch. The children win and become the rulers of Narnia.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books i ever read!
For my book I read the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. I thouhgt it was a very intersting book. In thr begning they moved to this professor house because of the war. He lived on the country side so it was safer there. Lucy the youngest one found a wardrobe. There was something unusual found in the back of the wardrobe. It was another world called Narnia. Lucy made some friends and so did her symbolings. One of there frinds got in trouble. Could the save him befor the white which turned hin into stone?
5-0 out of 5 stars What I thought of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
I thought this was a good book.It was full of adventure and excitement. It was easy to keep the Characters apart, instead of getting them mixed up. It was hard at first to get into but it turned out great. The symbolism was easy to understand and wonderful. It was easy reading and fun. C.S. Lewis is a good writer. I would probably read more of his books. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love the Samantha books!!!!!
I have all the books I'v read all of them three times.Samantha is so nice to ALL her friends.I really like "Happy Birthday Samantha!"It's sooooooo funny!

4-0 out of 5 stars HAPPY ENDING FOR ALL!
The most charming book so far in the American Girls series. Samantha's life in turn-of-the-last-century New York presents in my view the series' most well-rounded picture into society at that time, with its incorporation of orphans and the working class in among its economically-privileged main characters. The writing here was the best of any American Girl novel and the dialogue seemed knitted to its era and not anachronistically modernized in the slightest. Yes, I know the improbable ending is the fabric of fairy tales but it still makes for a happy conclusion to a nice visit back a hundred years ago in time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Samantha Captures Victorian America
One of my favorite American Girls books, Samantha captures the story of victorian america.Although I missed the tv making of the book, I find the Samantha book a near classic for Christmas. The victorian times is among one of my favorites so this series by the American Girls became my favorite. This series is very innocent and sweet about the daily life of a normal victorian girl, but it touches on the authenticity of the victorian era just as the Emily Cobbs series in the Gifted Girls books, but without the mystery and adventure.Samantha is a little young for my 13 year old sister because of its simplicity in story, but alright for younger readers up to 10. ... Someone else would like to read this novel or book because it has great humor, action, and flip-o-roma which are two pagescombined to make one.You use the flip-o-rama by holding down the second page and flipping the first page.

These are truly a wonderful grouping of books that everyone should read if not own. I loved the movies and couldn't keep waiting to find out what happens, so bought the books. Read them all 1-6 in about 6 days...just couldn't put them down. Lighthearted reading that is enjoyable.

3-0 out of 5 stars Magical
She envisioned a seven-part series, each part of which was knocking on 800 pages. That was a serious bit of world building right there. Then, she wrote the first book, a whopping multi-page monster I haven't read yet. So let's just admire her for making an effort of that magnitude.
