5-0 out of 5 stars Seems Like So Long Ago.........
That I used to read this series. I'm 24 now. I remember reading this series long into the night, by the light of a flashlight. I LOVE THIS SERIES! I don't ride much anymore, I've been long disinterested but when I did, I loved these books. Any horse crazy 9-12 year old would love them.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm crazy for Horse Crazy by Alex Z
I love this book.Stevie and her friends go to their riding school "Pine Hollow".Stevie does not have enough money to go on an overnight trail ride.Doing odd jobs, she gets enough money to go on the ride. Problems occur again when Stevie and her friends go to an electronic store.Stevie enters a contest and wins a cassette player. All of her saved money is spent on new cassettes; she has none left for her ride. Her parents offer to pay for the ride if Stevie improves her school grades.A great math project saves the day.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Kinda Befuddled
Okay, this is from the same person who wrote a previous review.A couple of reviews down.Anyway, I am twelve and I might be a little old to be reviewing a pony pal book, (I still secretly kinda like them) but the fact that the most recent reviewer obviously has no idea what they are talking about (in my opinion) is kind of bothering me.First of all, why don't people get the fact that ponies and horses are different because ponies are generally smaller than horses, but just because they are ponies, it doesn't mean that they are automatically small.(Read my previous review.)Second of all, just because someone is ten years old, it doesn't mean that they still can't fit on a pony.I take riding lessons and I am twelve years old.And to this day, I have never ridden a true horse.Just ponies. And I am not a puny person.I am above average in height and about average in weight so I'm no slimjim.Ponies are 14.2 hands or under and that is bigger than you think it is.Thirdly, Acorn shouldn't get his way all the time.It could be dangerous!I really hope that whoever wrote the previous review didn't truly believe that.I ride a difficult PONY during lessons and if I let him get his way all the time, I would have gotten hurt and so would other riders or their ponies and horses.Don't get me wrong, I would never, under any circumstances hurt a horse or pony.I sometimes hesitate to use a crop even when my instructors tell me it's alright. There's a difference between firm but kind and mean and creul.Lastly, the previous reviewer was wrong to call my previous review nasty. If it was her opinion that it was good and cool that ponies "leap" then it was her opinion. On the other hand, it was MY opinion that that was incorrect and sorta funny. If she thinks that the other person deserved an opinion on the matter than I do too. It's all a matter of freedom of speech. And by the way, I wasn't trying to be mean, I was just stating what I thought was true. There was no reason to call me or my review nasty. But then again, it WAS her opinion.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Very Good
I think this book was kind of stupid and also I think the author has not much knowledge on horses because she calls them ponies. However, my cousin who is twelv knows about horses and says ten year old girls would not fitt on pnys because they are very little. I agree with the reviewer who said it was stupid and that acorn should get his own way. He or she is ritght. Anna and Pam And lulu is mean to their ponys. Please do not post nasty messages about how that reviewer who thought it was cool how ponies leap. He or She has the right to an opinion!

5-0 out of 5 stars Will lightning survive
I really liked this book. In it Pam is going to enter a horse show with lightining then lightining gets very ill.The pony pals do not know what is wrong with her.So they decide to have a barn sleep over and you won't believe what is making lightining sick.Read it and you will find out.You should buy all pony pal books no matter what your age are.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice story
It was good. It was about Pam's pony getting sick and no one knows why. I think the author did a very good job, it was quite a good reason. The pony pals did a good job figuring it out. It was a good example, and if anyone is ever in the same situation, do what they did in this book. The plot was good and interesting. Read this book if you like ponies!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Can the pony pals solve the mystery?
Pam's pony Lightening gets sick because of a mystery illness which causes her an upset stomach. One night the Pony Pals take it in turns to watch Lightening to see if they can solve the mystery and give them the answer to the problem. When its Pam's turn, she sees a strange girl feeding Lightening apples.I really like the ending in this book, and I think the Pony Pals are pretty smart. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars very unrealistic
Not the premise that it's hard to say goodbye to a horse you love to the point where you may temporarily stop riding because it hurts so much. No, it's just that the horse in question is a STALLION. For a junior exhibitor. For one thing, riders who are under a certain age cannot compete on stallions (at least in most classes), so I guess Veronica had to be content with never showinig Cobalt. Also, she was scared of him and did not ride him well, so it is a surprise she did not get badly hurt earlier. Why, why, why, are stallions always the mount of choice for children and teens in books? Mares and geldings are just as capable of generating mystery and intrigue.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible
I really don't like these books. They're more about people relationships compared to horses. They're some of the worst horse books I've ever read. "Thoroughbred" books and the "Ashleigh" series are way better. I bought some "Saddle Club" books before I didn't know about them, I've given them all away. Stay away from these books!

5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting tale, good story!
This book was fun to read on the continuing adventures of Carole, Lisa, and Stevie. The Mountain Trail Overnight was almost ruined by the whims of nasty Veronica diAngelo, and how Carole's beloved horse Cobalt is killed by his owner, Veronica. The story does a good job of setting an example of how to rebound when your favorite horse dies. Excellent read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Equine Experience
This book series is the cause of my Horse-Love. It's a series about three girls, Pam, Anna and Lulu (PAL) and their Ponies Lightning, Acorn and Snowwhite, who live in a town called little Wiggins and use their very sopecial Pony Pal Trail to reach each others houses (Anna lives next-door to Lulu, and Pam lives at the other end of Pony Pal Trail) and they're basically pretty average ten-year-old girls who have many adventures and have a lot of fun. Sometimes it's scary, like when Snowwhite got lost and ran away - in a snow storm that is, sometimes it's sad, like when their Pony Friend Winston died, sometimes it's beautiful, like when a Pony named Beauty had a Foal/or when the girls hand-reared a Foal called Baby (later named Lucky by his new owner) and sometimes it's just plain wonderful, like when the Pony Pals learned how to Ride Western, or when Anna and Acorn did Carriage Driving (believe you me, it's VERY FUN!). The beginning is Lulu moving to Wiggins, meeting Pam and Anna, saving Snowwhite and later she and Anna have to actually buy their Ponies, and the start of the Pony Pals and the climax of the series will reduce you to tears if you're a big softie like me...so, all in all I say: Thank You Mrs. Jeanne Betancourt!

    The Pony Pals
2-0 out of 5 stars Just Didn't Hit It
When I started reading 'The Saddle Club' I was hooked. The books were interesting enough and had enough seriousness and humor to them. This one, not so much. It was just trying to create basically a repeat of the saddle club series. But it missed the target that saddle club hit completely. I know that many people will not find this useful because I am comparing. But it is impossible NOT to compare these series when they are so alike. But the reasons that this book just wasn't getting to me was because I thought that the characters were much too shallow, wheras the saddle club characters had each a unique complexity to them. The story lines were readable, with absolutely no suspense. (The story lines were too predictable) There were no cliffhangers at the end of each of the books. I have learned, that from reading lots of series that if you want the reader to read the next book, you want excitement, cliffhangers, where this series left me picking up the second one with reluctance and dread. All in all, these books just aren't the classic saddle club books that came before them. Cheap remakes of the series, I would have to call them. I know that many people will find these words hard to understand but I feel that I must speak my mind. In the meantime, I think that I'll stick to saddle club and pine hollow books instead... ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Rema a spoiled brat?
In this chapter of the pony pals, Snow White's real owner, Rema, comes home from boarding school. Lulu immediately takes a dislike to the girl, convincing her friends that Rema is a snob. Rema wonders why such a rude little girl is allowed to lease Snow White. Since Rema is to big for Snow White, Lulu and her posse convince her to sell Snow White to Lulu, who doesn't deserve to own such a sweet pony.

This is a really great book. It shows the bond between a pony and her owner. I would feel terrible if I had to give back Melody, whom I am leasing...maybe I can talk her owners into selling her just like Lulu does...anyway, this is a good book and you'll love it even if you can't relate to it! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Save the Thorughbred Series!
The Cindy and second generation eventing portions of the series were dark days for Thoroughbred. The plots have since switched back to racing and the newest few books have been exceptional. Just as we thought there was hope for the Thoroughbred series to be restored to its former glory Harper Collins has decided to end the series abruptly after#72. With such a dedicated following and online fan base with members from all over the world, this is a classic and beloved series that has inspired many people and provided horse fans with vicarious thrills and adventure. Ashleigh saved Wonder, now it's up to you to help save Thoroughbred. [...]

2-0 out of 5 stars What Went Wrong?
I am very angry with the way the Thoroughbred books are changing. Joanna Campbell did a far better job writing them, and I think the new author needs to take a hike. Ashleigh and Samantha have always been my favorite charcters, and now they are totally kicked out of the picture. Especially Sammy in the later books. And what of the other characters, like Mandy and Jilly? They played such large parts in previous books, so where are they now? I especially dislike Cindy. She was tolerable at first, when she had just one special horse...Glory. Now though, she has had numerous 'Wonder Horses' and as soon as a new book comes out, she drops them. I say kill Cindy off, and bring back Sammy and Ash. And stop creating all these stupid new characters! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible!
This book was really bad! I don't like Allie. She's nothing but a brat who thinks she knows everything about horses. And I don't think she deserves Wonder's Legacy. And I'm sick of Jazz! I thought that that would be the end of him in #69 Melanie's Double Jinx. Hopefully, after this book, this time he'll be out of the picture. Another thing, in #62 Unbrdled Fury, they described Hi Jinx as a tall, gorgeous chestnut colt but in this book they're describing him as a short, little ugly colt. Really, the authors need to stick with what had been written before, not always change things!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
I loved this book! It was really good! Melanie's horse, Hi Jinx, hasn't been doing too well on the track. He finished last on the Fountain of Youth Stakes, and Kevin and Melanie continue to argue about Jinx's training. Then Allie steps in and tells them that Jinx would race better if they quit arguing. But everything turns out well in the end. And not only does Jinx do well in the race but Samantha's twins are born!

2-0 out of 5 stars Runaway Pony
This book is about snow white, Anna's white pony. Snow white comes down with the strangles,a horse sickness, and must be isolated from her "horse friends". Snow white becomes very lonely, and during a big snow storm, gets loose. Now a sick pony is out on the loose in a big snow storm. Can she survive? Will the pony pals find her in time? Guess. I'm really not a fan of pony pal books. They're definatly geared towards younger kids, maybe first grade. they're really poorly written, and the plots i find very boring. That's my opinion though, you may find them great. But if you decide to try the pony pals series, try Ponies from the Past. It's the best one so far.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will they find Snowwhite
This book was good.In it snowwhte gets the strangles and is seperated from the other horses. She is loney. One night during a snowstrom (which snow white don't like cold weather) Snowwhite runs away. She gets trapped and with her having the strangles will she survive. Will the pony pals find her in time.If they find her will SnowWhite be the same.Read and you will find out.I reccomend all pony pal books no matter what age you are.To everybody who reads this review have a great year and have fun reading.

This is the second installment in the amazing Thoroughbred series. In this book, Wonder has been put into yearling training under a rough trainer.Jennings thinks that Wonder has been babied all her life and it's high time she learned to be treated like a race horse.Wonder becomes a totally different horse as she he manhandled and whipped.Ashleigh and Charlie can see that this sort of "training" is ruining Wonder before she even has a chance to prove herself on the track.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is great!!
This book is the best book cause Shining and Glory are my favourite including Ashleigh's Wonder and more. But anyway Cindy is being a selfish brat and wanted March to Glory to win the Breeders Cup Classic but she doesn't want to hurt her step-sister's feelings when Samantha wasn't sure which race she should put Shining in the Classic or the Distaff. cindy loves Storm too and is training him herself. Poor Storm! I HATE CINDY!! i like samantha better.

In Cindys Honor, Cindy Mclean is finally a jockey. Cindy rode Wonders Champion to victory in the Dubia World Cup. Wonders Champion was one of Whitebrooks fastest horses ever. Champion won the Tripple Crown with Ashleigh Griffen riding him. Wonders Champion was sure a champion. Cindy watched the colt grow up to be the biggest threat in the country. Now that Honor Bright was old enough to race. Honor Bright was Townsend Princess first foal. Townsend was also a great racehorse like her brother, Champion. Cindy watched the filly play with the other yearlings and beating them in racing around the paddock up to be a promsing racehorse. But during a workout, Honor throws Cindy off and Cindy is forced from riding. Cindy wont be allowed to ride any of the other horses and Cindy knows only she can ride Honor. Honor Bright is a picky filly who only likes certain people riding her. Then Cindy finds out, Ashleigh Griffen, the famous jockey who owned half intrest in Honor and helped trained the racehorses has put up one of Townsend Acres jockeys up on the filly. Townsend Acres was almost a rival with Whitebrook Farm for their racehorses. Cindy askes Ashleigh why she wont ride Honor when Ashleigh tells Cindy she is pregnate again. Will Cindy obey the doctors orders or will she watch someone else ride her beloved filly? Find out in Cindys Honor. Or email me at Blades60@aol.com

Okay, sure this book was an interesting mystery, but NIGHTMARES? ok, that's not a common reaction, so ppl, don't, like, not buy thuis book because you think it'll be frightening, because it's not. In this book, Glory wins all of the races he's entered. Then, he wins some big race at the belmont by 16 lengths. They test him for drugs, and he ends up postitve. Of course, Whitbrook didn't drug him. So it ends up that someone is sneaking into the barn and drugging him so that he won't be any compettion, or to kill him. After a second time of Glory testing positive for drugs, Cindy sleeps in the barn. But while she's protecting Glory, she realizes, is she willing to risk her own life for his? Interesting book, messed up ending though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Cindys Heartbreak
In Cindys Heartbreak a colt named Storms Rancsom falls under a deadly disease wich can kill all the horses in the barn. Storm was bought by Whitebrook at an auction for thoroughbreds. whitebrook was a large breeding and racing stable in Kentucky. Storm was one of the finest horses you can find. While March to Glory is having a time of his life on the racetrack, Cindy Mclean helps raise Storm. Cindy was once a runaway orphan who found a home at Whitebrook. Cindy loves racehorses and racing more than anything. While her colt Glory is having a finishing racing career Cindy has helped raise Storm since he came to Whitebrook. If you asked him to jump off a bridge, he would just to make you happy. Cindy knew Storm would do anything for his rider and was the sweetiest thing ever. He showed promise as a sprinter and sprinted his way to victory. but after 2 long exzausting races, Storm became sick. When the vet responds, he tells the owners of Storm and Whitebrook that Storm has a deadly disease that can kill all the other horses and the best thing to do would be to put him down. Cindy almost died when she heard that they might put Storm down. Cindy beggs Ashleigh Griffen and Mike Reese, Whitebrooks owner to keep Storm in the icealation stalls. But Cindy knows that Storm would be stuck inside his stall for the rest of his life and not enjoying life of the outdoors and horse friends. Will Cindy give up the colt she watched grow into a champion sprinter or let him suffer? Find out in Cindys Heartbeak. Or email me at Blades60@aol.com

4-0 out of 5 stars This was probably the only book I cried to.
I loved Storm. He always tried his hardest to please Cindy and Ashleigh. He was always on his best behavior and would do anything for you. He ran his heart out in his races and when he losed he was heart broken. He was the sweetiest horse I ever heard of in the Thoroughbred series, and he was one of my top favoirtes. When I read this book I cried for a week or more and I am right now just talking about him. I have a parakeet named Storm and he is the sweetiest bird I know. I could compare him to Storm. He is always sweet and tries to please me. He hardly ever bites or anything. I also have a parakeet named Glory. I could also compare him to Glory. He is big, same color as Glory, sweet and hard to control, and kinda fast but faster than my others. Now Storm is just a dust in the wind in the books now. I still think of him and miss him terriobly and what would I do when my all time fav mare dies, (Ashleigh's Wonder.) ... Read more

In Melanies Treasure, Melanie Graham, the city girl has lived in New York her whole life with her father, Will Graham. Will was Mike Reese father. Mike Reese and his wife Ashleigh Griffen own a large racing and breeding stable in Kentucky for Thoroughbreds. Will worked in his studio business and was never home for Melanie. Melaines favoirte horse at Clarebrook, Milkyway pretty much stumbbles in the street, crossing to get to the park. But when Milkyway stumbles, a taxi hits Milkyway and Melanie loses her favoirte horse in the world. Milkyway was killed and Will sent Melanie to live with her aunt Ashleigh, Uncle Mike and Christina, Mike and Ashleighs daughter. At first, when Melanie comes to Whitebrook, she decides she hates it more than anything. Melanie wants to go back home in New York but when she sees the unperdictable colt, Pirates Treasure, Melanie felt one with the black horse. Melanie helped train Pirate to go in the starting gate without him balking or rearing. Soon, Melanie helps trains the dangerous colt to become a champion racer. but after Pirate crashes into the rail aster winning one of his races, Melanie feels that she has brought bad luck to Whitebrook and Pirate. Soon, Melanie finds out Pirate is blind after is accident and discorved the rail hit gave Pirate moonlight (or something like that) which has forced Pirate to end his career. 5-0 out of 5 stars Melanie's Treasure
About the book: The setting first opens up in New York, where Melanie Graham lives. There we find a troubled young girl with a love of horses. Well that combination doesnt work out too great. Mel decides that she and her best friend Anslee should go for a moonlight ride in central park. Mel takes her favorite horse, Milky Way, and Ans takes Rams. While they were crossing the raod Mel's horse slips on a metal sheet covering a hole in the road. He goes down and in the prosses Mel dislocates her shoulder. At that same instant a Taxi comes speeding around the corner and hits Milky. Ans blames Mel for everthing that happened and as a result Mel's father sends her to live with her aunt and uncle on Whitebrook farm. This puts us in Kentucky once again. Once there, Mel finds she doesnt get along with Christina, everything she does is wrong, she finds out her beast friend hates her, andshe vows never to ride again. But then she sees Pirate's Treasure, a big, black, and blindingly fast Thoroughbred. She notices that he gives everyone a problem. She finds out that pirate and her have much in common. For example, the way people treat them. She takes on the responsiblity of caring for pirate, and eventually gets the guts to ride him. she discovers why he is misbehaving (he has moon blindness)and saves his life. She descides she would like to stay for the rest of the summer.
5-0 out of 5 stars Save Melanie and the rest of the Thoroughbred Series!
Melanie was my favorite character of Thoroughbred's second generation. She is quirky, spirited and very real. Not long after she accidentally causes the death of her favorite horse, Melanie Graham relocates from New York City to her aunt's Whitebrook Farm. Here she forms a bond with Pirate, a troublesome racehorse, and a unique story unfolds. One of my favorites in the series. Unfortunately, Harper Collins has decided to end the series abruptly after#72. Rage, intensity, passion. That's everything and more in the book Detective Pony by Jeanne Betancourt. Rage as in scary. Intensity as in breath taking. And passion as in doing anything until he succeeds. Always waiting for an adventure to happen. Little does Acorn (main character) know, that he's about to embark on his greatest adventure yet.

If I were a third grader who was given this book I would hate the person for giving it. The books in this series seem to be too simplified in their language and concepts, like the author is constantly talking down to the reader.
