excellent book
My [...] son received this book for his birthday and it became a fast favorite.He loves to push the buttons and listen to the music.He also quickly found the "stop" button and likes to stop the music if he doesn't like my singing--then he laughs.This is an excellent book and I highly recommend it.

My 22month old son's FAVORITE book
This is the book my son grabs every morning and every night - he loves it!The dvd video is also great - it also has some old sesame street clips that I remember as a kid in it too -

ABC book and dvd are great!
The book has great color and fun flip up pages.My son loves to just look at the pictures.The dvd has lots of fun clips related to the ABC's.I remember some of them from when I was young!

Balls!
My 16-month old would not sit still to read a book.I have been trying for months.I have to turn the pages very quickly and talk about the pictures so that we can complete them.Once I showed him this book last week, he will sit and let me read the whole thing and then he likes to go back and re-read all of the pages and point to the balls for me to identify them.
Decent book for Elmo lovers
We've learned the names of all the balls with this book.It's a good one with a "door" to open on each page.Not too busy and a good quick read.

Durability is a problem
My toddler daughter has loved other books more intensely than this one so I was surprised when this one started coming apart in a few days.

My [...] LOVES this book
My [...] adores this book, it's got all his favorite Sesame characters and does a nice job of teaching letters and numbers, as well as introducing new items and words.Kind of like a more friendly version of the Richard Scarry word books.Enjoy with your toddler!

Sesame Street helps kids learn basics
This is a great book for kids who enjoy Sesame street and are learning their numbers and their alphabet.The book is large and colorful and is nice because it covers both letters and numbers.Would recommend to anyone who has a toddler in tow!

A True Sesame Street Fan
I bought this book for my 16 month old son.He loves The Sesame Street Word book and thought this would be a good addition to his collection.He likes it okay, but still prefers the Word Book hands down. It starts with the alphabet devoting one to two pages per letter.Each page(s) has the letter and pictures of things starting with the letter.It also has the word naming the picture.I agree with other reviewers..some letters were not depicted very well compared to others.The second half covers numbers 1-20 then skip counts by tens numbers 20-100.All are done with pictures.If you had one book to buy I'd get The Sesame Street Word Book.However if you want to add to other educational books you have,this is a great purchase. ... my16 month old daughter's favorite
By far my daughter's favorite book. She is 16 months and this is perfect for her. She does LOVE Elmo and puppies, so this is the perfect combination. The flaps are big, so she can do them herself which is great.
Toddlers love Elmo and puppies
My 21 month old son loves this book.The flaps are nice and big and easy for him to open.It is a fun, short book with vibrant pictures.The book isn't going to last forever because the pages are fairly thin, but it's a fun book for the price.
How could you go wrong with doggies???
Great one for a 15 month old, especially if they like dogs, quick read and a "door" to open on each page.It took us a LONG time to get past the first page though since we had to really study the puppies.It was a while before she realized there were doggies on the other pages too since she loves to look at doggies so much. ... A Hit with Elmo lovers!
This is the 3rd Elmo's World book we have purchased and it is great.It uses the same format and language as the TV show.The large print and flaps are perfect for the younger kids.My son is 15 months and an expert with his Elmo books.He will crawl over and read them by himself.These are great book and the various topice are fun and interesting for the younger set.

It's excellent!
After reading this book, my 20-month-old son would follow what ELMO did in the book, pretending to be a cat, a lion, a worm. For example, he would "meow" and creep when he saw a cat in the book. It was fun for a baby boy to learn about animals in that way. ... Read more

A wonderful book by a wonderful man behind the feathers
Big Bird is a wonderful, kind-hearted creature, because Caroll Spinney is a gentle, kind-hearted man.His uplifting memoirs about his life bringing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to life and making them very real beings to millions of children and adults, alike, are truly beautiful. Caroll is a very effective writer and illustrator, alike, and his tales brought joy to me as I read every one of them.I was especially touched by his chapter on doing Big Bird in China with the little girl and the goodbye they had at the airport. I was equally moved by his inherrent love and genuine affection for the puppets around him, described best by his picking Ernie up off the floor and apologizing to him for Jim's having unceremoniously dropped him there.One of my favorite lines in the book was near the end when he talked about the new folks and new format; at one point he said, "Then came Elmo."Those of us classic Sesame Street purists understood that line on a molecular level!Most significant for me was one of the messages of wisdom Caroll so eloquently describes.He says that sometimes you realize that your life is exactly how you always wanted it to be.I read this and realized that for myself, that was absolutely true, and I hadn't realized it till just that moment.I am a huge Sesame Street fan, and I'm so proud that my son has become one, too (he's nuts about Elmo, but equally gaga over Big Bird in Journey to Ernie). And this easy read made me feel warm and nostalgic.I've always understood Big Bird, and now I understand him -- and Oscar, not to mention Caroll -- alot better.Thank you, Caroll, for sharing your life in feathers and grouchland and for writing this wonderful book that spoke to me so deeply.

Wonderful Read
Very interesting and enjoyable read. Funny and sad at times. A most entertaining synopsis of life as Big Bird. Highly recommend this book for any age.
Fascinating Story of Wisdom from The Big Bird
During vacation with our daughter in Connecticut I even felt closer to Home of the Big Bird! The first of 7 new books hooked me by the cover picture and title... Even the intimate story of Caroll Spinney: "Playing Big Bird has been my job for half my lifetime. It is a fabulous career- more than I ever hoped for, yet everything I believed it could be. Going to work everyday is a joy. The people I work with are tremendously talented...to educate and inspire young children is extremely motivating."

Excellent for a pre-schooler
I bought this book as a present for my daughter's fourth birthday a month ago.Just about every night since then, we've read 6-8 pages of the dictionary to her at bed time.If it were up to her, we'd read more and more every night.She loves it.

cute for all ages
This is one of the better books that has so much in it that I can read it every night (many times) and still see new things. I can read it with my 18 month old (she loves Elmo, Ernie and Cookie) and my 3 year old (who loves the information from the book). My 3 year old will actually 'read' it to his sister while I am doing other things. The pictures are great and it is classic Sesame Street. i will note that the images and text is similar to the encyclopedia set from the 80's (which I also recommend), but that's ok. I didn't have the complete set anyway.

Best childrens book ever
I still own my original 1980 copy of this book and I'm in my mid 20's - it's one of my most cherished possessions.This was one of my first real books and my parents claim it was the secret of my educational success.Beyond being a dictionary, it teaches counting, reasoning and ethics.I would recommend this book to anyone who either loves Sesame Street or is looking for a really good book for their child to learn from. ... Too much text for reading aloud.
Ms. nearly-2 is a big Sesame Street fan,and likes the pictures.But there is too much text on each page for reading out loud - she gets impatient before I can finish the page.Probably this book will be good when her attention span is a few years older.

Great book for kids and parents to share
My daughter picked this book out herself in the bookstore because she was attracted to the colorful cover with all the Sesame Street gang.Since then, she asks me to read it to her all the time.She loves turning the pages and finding the different illustrations and styles on each page.She loves reading this book more than watching the show!This way, she can skip to the parts she likes the best.I can't wait for the publishers to publish some more editions!I will definately buy more in the series.

My son loves this book!
My son is a huge Sesame Street fan.He loves this book and will perform it with all the voices of the characters.It is a great book with segments just like the real show.I especially like the segment about Elmo and Zoe.These 2 best friends have a disagreement and later make up by cooperating.Cookie Monster is in the book doing his usual devouring of confections.Big Bird plays Journey to Ernie with some cute illustrations of animals in the jungle that resemble Ernie.Grover hosts the show and also does a segment on Eskimos (Global Grover).Rosita does a Spanish word of the day, and Elmo celebrates friends in Elmo's World.If this book has a theme, it is "friendship."As a parent, I feel this book gave me more "bang for my buck" than many others because it is packed with fun lessons and gives my kid good material for play. ... I love this book!
My sister got me this book for my birthday in May. I have some experience with basic quilting, but have never done applique. It is December now and I have made all nine sesame street character blocks in the book and they turned out GREAT! They were EASY and FUN! I subsequently taught my sister, who has no sewing skills, to make the blocks and she has made some of the muppet show patterns already. We are having so much fun and my 6-month old daughter is already fascinated by the bright, multi-textured characters on the blocks.

loved it!
I am in the middle of workig on a new quilt inspired by this book. I really loved the phtoos and the ideas. The patterns were not great, but hte book is a wonderful inspiration!

My son (30 months old) falls in love with this book. He loves to know about the adventures of Elmo, pretend the animals in the book, such as duck, frog, elephant to tell Elmo how to get to Seseame Street.This book captures the imagination of the my little boy.
