Excellent overview for children
I bought this book for my seven year old son, in the hope that he would work his way into it over time (recommended age is from 9).He is able to read quite a lot of the text at this stage, with a bit of help.This is great for his reading practice. Our Solar System
I have never written a review for a book, but this book has inspired me to do so. Out of this world!
Simon explores space using fantastic photos from real spacecraft and satellites. My two-year-old son received this book for Christmas and we read it to him nearly every night before bed. He is fascinated with the photographs, and as a result of his attachment to this book he can name every planet and many of the satellites that surround them. It is amazing! Vivid and Engaging
I found this book at the library and am considering buying a copy for my home library. The writing was on the perfect level for a K/1st-grader and the images (beautiful color images) held my and my son's interest. It is such a quality book that it seems more like a "gift" or keepsake book than something I'd find jammed on the shelf at the library. I also appreciate that it stayed away from questions of the origins and age of the earth - so regardless of a parent or educator's take on creation/evolution, this book could be used with ease and enjoyment.

neat human body book
Science author Seymour Simon gives us a great education on the human eye and ear in his book titled Eyes and Ears. We learn neat facts about these body parts.The book features text on one page with a full color photos related to the text on the other side of the spread.First he tells all about the human eyes.Included in this section are neat optical illusions to try on your own.The hear section is next and tell us all about how the ear works and the parts of the ear.

Debunks some of the myths about wolves
Even though nearly everyone has a close association with domesticated wolves, there is a common and unwarranted hysteria about them. This unwarranted thought process has led to them being reviled by many and hunted to near extinction. Plans by wildlife managers to re-introduce them into places like Yellowstone Park have met with strong and at times irrational resistance. This book is designed to set the record straight and to show wolves as they truly are.

lots of good info
Science author Seymour Simon gives us a great education on Gorillas in his book titled Gorillas.We learn neat facts about these creatures. They can weight only weight about 5 pounds we they are born up grow to weight more than 400 pounds! The book includes lots of full color photos of Gorillas.It also tells us there are 3 group of gorillas.We learn about all three groups in the book and get to see pictures of them as well. Great Photos!
This is a very good introduction to the brain and its functions.The book has numerous high quality photos of the brain, CT/MRI,spinal cord/nerves and more.Neuroscience is made fun for both kids and adults!

I love Seymour Simon's books and his series on the body is no exception.I do guided reading and independent reading in my ESOL class and have a Bosnian student who is going to go nuts about this book.She loves non-fiction.

Another "star" by Seymour Simon
My teacher has many Seymour Simon books in the classroom and all of them are great.I am a fifth grader, and a good reader of fiction but nonfiction has always been a struggle for me.But this book, and others by the same author, have kept me interested.I've learned a lot and I wish we could use these books instead of textbooks.

Very informative
After reading this book, our 3 year old can name every type of rail car. We live near a busy line and he is quite fond of calling out the types of cars he sees.

Geat for new reader
5 year old boys love this book and since they won't get bored, it helps them learn to read.

An exceptional train book for youngsters
My 3 year old, like many others his age, is obsessed with trains. We regularly go to the library to check out books about trains. We found this one on a recent visit, and it stands heads and shoulders above many of the others I've seen because it is a great balance between the picture books that preschoolers and older children love and non-fiction books that can sometimes be too detailed for children.Read more

The Skeletal System
Seymour Simon provides us with more insight into the body's systems.I learned a lot from reading this book on bones and I highly recommend it for fourth graders on up.A student can learn a lot more from this book than a paragraph in a textbook.Have fun and enjoy.

Get guts!
The text of the book was perfect. It managed to combine technical words with a serious scientific tone with a certain simplicity and straightforwardness that was comprehensible, but still wonderful to read. I will be the first to admit I learned a great deal about the digestive system and would recommend it to anyone, child or somewhat silly adult like myself.

Fabulous author! I reviewed 10 of his writings for a class project in Children's Literature. He writes about the body in an interesting and informative way and peaks curiosity and leaves you wanting to know more. Seymour Simon is great for readers of all ages.

Love this series, and Branley's are among the best!
This book is a perfect introduction to volcanoes for K-2 level kids, and older kids or early readers may enjoy reading them alone.It is easy to understand and the illustrations are clear and nice-looking.Unlike some science books for kids, this series tends to be very readable, versus a drier text that may make some kids lose interest quickly.

The book was very good.My son just started second grade and he loves science.The book kept him very interested throughout.He has read it more than 5 times and continues to ask questions about the different new concepts that were introduced in the book.

Snakes
My 5 year old son absolutely adores this book.The pictures are terrific and it had a few of the Cobras which are his favorites.It is also filled with very good information on a large variety of snakes.I think any child interested in snakes should take a look at this one.I plan to purchase more of Seymour Simon's books.
