Read it another time and another time and......
In this book, mother mouse is getting her son off to bed and kisses him goodnight. He tells her he wants another, mother and she takes that to mean he wants another mom. What he really wants is another kiss but she scurries off to find another mother for him. Mother mouse finds a mother duck, a mother frog, a mother pig, and a mother donkey and all of them kiss little mouse but poor baby mouse doesn't want another mother! He is finally able to tell his mother that all he wants is another kiss! So she gives him two and tucks him into bed.
Mother, Mother, I want another
This was my favorite book as a child. My mom and I have been trying to find this book for nearly 10 years now. I found it! This is truely the most memorable children's book I ever had. It is the best book you can read to your child!! It is definitely up there in the ranks of Runaway Bunny and Love you Forever!!

A Fantastic Read-Aloud
The Baby Beebee Bird is one of my very favorite books to read aloud to young children. The characters are varied and the baby beebee bird itself has a nice little compulsive personality. The book gives an example of problem solving and, best of all, lends itself to many open-ended questions and what if scenarios for use in the home or in a classroom situation. Most importantly, children love the book, and such love for one book can lead to love of books in general. As a teacher of young children, I believe fostering that love for books is essential to raising a life-long learner. Your children will love this book - have no doubt.

Hearing Bee- Bee's in my Sleep
My five year old son checked this book out of our local library and it became addictive. After three more check-outs and hearing Bee- bees every where I took my two children I decided to purchase this book. It is a classic my children absolutely are addicted to. My husband and I now take turns with the animal sounds and really ham up the animals. The illustrations are good and my children love the expressions on the faces. With two boys this book is well loved because of it's loudness, sillyness, and the giggles it produces when the animals fall over with exhaustion.

My love for Steven Kellog introduced me to a great book!

The book that introduced Max
This is a mind-expanding book.It's quirky (like all of Kalman's books), beautifully illustrated (with real art), and it introduces the character Max the blue dog who stars in some of her later books.It looks like akids book, but really offers something for all who are open to it.Kidscan relate to LuLu and her brother, and adults can better relate to kidswhen they remember their own dreams and fantasies and (if they're lucky)the stories their siblings told to get them to go to sleep.A great book! ... Gets him in bed and keeps him there!
I have been reading this book to my 3 year old son every night for the past week.He is a TERROR to get to bed despite keeping him in his regular routine.After we started this book all I would have to say after bath is "time for Parents think I'm sleeping" and he hops in bed without a fuss.The poems are pretty cute and the pictures are a delight.I think he likes it bc he thinks he's getting one over on his parents just like the boy in the book.I am thrilled with this book and intend on getting more from this author.

Nice collection of poems
This collection of poems relate to bedtime and nighttime.While much shorter than Jack's better known collections ("New Kid on the Block", etc.), I believe the emotional range is broader in this book.This book includes wistful poems and cutesy-scarypoems, that would feel out of place in Jack's funny poems compilations.Ofcourse, there are many funny poems, but the real gems are theothers. I Thnk This Book Is A Great One! I Really Reccomend It!

Exceptionally written children's book
This book is excellent because it gives the viewpoint of someone who is hyperactive in a positive manner.It shows children that being different is not necessarily bad but God made everyone different for a reason.Themouse in the book seems to develop strengths from his hyperactivity.Wehave certainly enjoyed reading this book with our children along with thecassette version.We highly recommend this book. ... A real sleep aid....
This is a brilliant book.I purchased it when my 2.5 year old son was refusing to sleep to try to explain to him that everyone sleeps, and why everyone sleeps. I could relate the facts in the book to things he understood, including when Caroline (a character in the book) goes to sleep and how she gets cranky when she doesn't get her nap.Thereafter he would say he needed his sleep so that he wasnt cranky like Caroline!He loves reading the book before nap and bed time - and the last few pages about drifting off to sleep help him unwind and relax ready for his own sleep.I also learnt a few things from this book - who knew that chickens eyelids go up, or that snakes have no eyelids! ... Dad read this to me as a child
I loved this book when I was little (about 30 years ago!).It is a wonderful, funny book.My dad was from Tacoma, but we lived in Southern CA.I finally got to see the Space Needle when I was 17.The book brings back such lovely memories.

I had this book as a little girl.Now that I've left my hometown of Seattle, my best friend has moved there.I got the book as a gift for her.If you grew up in Seattle or live there now, you must get this book.

Fun book
My 3 year daughter enjoys this book and so do I.Just enough words and a cute story.

Charmingly Illustrated
The illustrations in this book took me back to my childhood, and reminded me of the magic I used to feel when I first discovered picture books. It makes me wish other book illustrators took some lessons from the past and applied their knowledge to make children's books fun again. I will recommend this book to any parent who wants to give their child the same excitement they feltwhen they cracked open their favorite picture book.

Awesome Book
My almost 4 year old received this as a Christmas Gift and he loves it!The accompanying CD makes it even better with a calming rythem and memorable phrases.

Remmy ant the Brain Train
A very good book and the CD by Suzanne Scheniman is outstanding!It's geared toward children, but even adults will listen over and over.

And poetry to boot!

Great bedtime story
My 14 month old daughter loves this book. She just loves the teletubbies which was a plus. The pictures are great, they look just like the TV show.My daughter loves to read this book for hours. The story follows each tubby going to bed and one by one each tubby sneeks off to play during bed time. The only thing is I wish this book was a boradbook.

Fun!!!
We use this book at nap time.My son loves it.He seems to really enjoy the repetitiveness of this book - as each Teletubby is found and put to bed.

Good but beware of bias in language
This is a lovely book filled with rhyming words and intricate pictures.That said, the language and identity of the characters shows bias.I would prefer the book to say "police officer" and "fire fighter" and have pictures of men and women in those roles.This book is very gender rigid with women in the roles of librarian, teacher and baker; and men in traditional men's roles. I change the words when I read it to my toddler but the pictures still reinforce the gender stereotypes.

Bedtime story
I bought this for my 2-year old granddaughter.I read it to her on my last visit.She seemed to like it, but it wasn't the book she brought to me most often for reading.

Very endearing and sweet
My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book. We took it from the library and now I'm here to buy it since it enjoys it so much. It's a simple read, and short enough for a toddler bedtime. The premise is that each page shows another person sleeping, but people children would know. Like the teacher is sleeping (surrounded by school things), the librarian is sleeping (with books around her), policeman, etc. My son likes to see everyone sleeping, and the illustrations are gentle and have enough going on so we can talk about what he sees. For instance, in the picture for the pages on the Farmer is sleeping, he's using a sheep for a pillow and one of his socks fell off. My son thinks that's pretty funny. And at the end, a little boy just like him is shown going to sleep. I highly recommend it, especially for kids that don't want to go to sleep! ... Read more

Good book, pages not in order -- now 5 STARS
Like the book but the pages were bound wrong so that they were mixed up inside. So what good is the book then?
My 7 month old loves it
and so do I. I have to read it over and over to her, if I put it down she cries and as soon as I pick it back up and start again she smiles. She has yet to understand the story, she just likes the pictures and the rythm. I found the one bad review of this book on this site bizarre. I enjoy the book and find the illustrations to be anything but "elementary". Hmmmm, different folks, different strokes. This book is at least worth a check out from the library (though everyone who tries it is bound to fall in love and have to buy it.)

A "bad" baby's journey into night
It doesn't take long for the trouble to start in "The Boy who wouldn't go to Bed". Confronted with the age-old parental imperative of "Bedtime", appalled at the absurdity of such a command when "it's still light", and utterly unintimidated by the power disparity involved, the baby retorts with a steely "No!", hops into his car and roars off into the night, leaving his mother far behind. At the outset the illustrations are suffused with a beautiful golden light but as the journey progresses that light begins to fail and we are left to reflect on the wisdom of the baby's decision.Read more

New Spin on an Old Tale
Who knew Little Bo Peep's brother was Little Boy Blue? Or that his shenanigans (those darn little brothers!) caused her sheep to go missing, giving Poor Peep a sleepless night? The author has artfully lifted characters from an assortment of well-loved fairy tales and created something witty and new. Written in bouncy rhyme, with cameos by Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, and the Farmer in the Dell, and others, this charming story will have little ones nodding in recognition at the familiar names, while they root for the reunion that will allow Peep to get her beauty sleep. Terrific for bedtime, or story hour. The stylized illustrations have a funky retro look that adds to the appeal.

My little one loves this book!
This is one of my 17 month old's favorite books.He will dig through his pile just to find it!When we get to the page that says..."and give you a kiss"...he turns all the way around to give me a kiss!!So, I don't mind reading it 50 times a day like he sometimes asks!!Great book.I am going to get a few of the other books by the same author.

My Toddler Loves This!
