5-0 out of 5 stars Great for 2 and 4 year olds!!!!!
My two boys ages 2 and 4 love this book. Their favorite line being "much better". They know exactly when to say it and crack up laughing everytime. My sister bought this book for my nephew and I just had to have it. It is a book that I can read over and over again without getting bored. If you are looking for a book that's interesting for two children at two different age spectrums, I would definitely try this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hoglarious!
Bed Hogs is awell-crafted rhyming story that flows like the drool out of a hog's mouth. I have added it to my collection of books to read aloud to groups of children. They laugh out loud everytime! The illustrations are amazing, and compliment the story to an extreme! Very well done...this is what parents are looking for when purchasing a children's book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cute!
This was a very cute book which will have any child laughing as it is read to them.I received it as a gift when my baby was born, and even though he is too young to understand it now, I fell in love with it.The illustrations are fantastic, too! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So where's the mouse?
My 2-year-old loves this book...he calls it the "night night farm book".We read it almost every night, then at the end when the mouse makes a mysterious disappearance, I ask "so where's the mouse?" and he replies "he went to make a mess in the kitchen!", then we read "Mouse Mess" by Linnea Riley.

5-0 out of 5 stars My two-year-old's favorite book
This is my two-year-old's favorite book. She understands the humor of the story: a farmer rocks his baby goodnight, and then rocks each of his farm animals goodnight (including his horse and cow. You'll have to see the book to understand how he is able to rock such large animals). The pictures are wonderful, the words are few.Your child will ask for it again and again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lullaby in book form
This is a sweet lttle book for younger children. After you've read it a few times they begin to join in the reading. An easy book for them to memorize. My son always thinks it would be funny if the farmer would rock his wife :) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our son loved this book.
I don't know where this crummy horn reviewer is coming from, but our son loved this book and heard it read to him (willingly! eagerly!) about a zillion times. It is just a sweet little gem of a bedtime book, and the illustrations are wonderful - very evocative of urban/residential streetlife and what you see from your two-flat window. Highly recommended (and muchly missed - our son's doing his own "bedtime reading" now....).

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't believe Horn Books
This book is a WONDERFUL bedtime book. One of the best around. The reviewer from Horn Books (who said that the book has badly rhymed verse) clearly has no appreciation for any but the most trivial and obvious rhymes(e.g. night and light). It's all in how you read it.In aBritish/Canadian vernacular (the author is from Canada), "green"and "again" nearly rhyme in "engines roar, light turnsgreen, night cars on their way again".The text of this book ishypnotic and delightful (AND our child loves to hear it again and again). 5-0 out of 5 stars My kids all love it, a fantastic bedtime story!
Horn Book is under the gross misimpression that poetry which doesnot rhyme is necessarily bad.Night Cars is an endearing story, with a wonderfully sonorous meter. The illustrations hold a toddler's attention. It's a perfect bedtime story for bad sleepers and their parents. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime book
This is definitely a bedtime book because it is sooo dull and boring to read.Neither my 21 month old nor my 4 1/2 year old took any real interest in this book.Skip it and pick one of Thacher Hurd's better books like Cat's Pajamas, Zoom City, Mama Don't Allow or Moo Cow Kaboom.

5-0 out of 5 stars a perfect bedtime read

5-0 out of 5 stars Great historical fiction
This is a wonderful work of historical fiction. The real photo of Mary Smith adds to the engagement of young children. My class loves this book and I do,too. This is a part of history that I had never heard before.Cute ending that the children loved.I buy a lot of books for my classroom; some are "keepers" that I allow the children to use for a few days and are returned to my personal collection while others are placed in the children's collection which they have continual access to.This one is a "keeper".

5-0 out of 5 stars Delightful!
Besides an interesting peek into a unique aspect of history this book is charming in it's presentation. The photo of Mary Smith at the beginning of the book immediately gives the book credibility and tugs at the readers curiosity.A surprise ending is light-hearted and an added bonus. Fun and informative! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Goodnight, Harry
This book is a beautifully illustrated children's book.I purchased it for my very young grandson,Harry, who can identify with the elephant with the same name.A yound child can look at these lovely illustrations while Mommy and Daddy read the simple story of an elephant and his two friends. It is an excellent bedtime story which, I feel, any young child would truly love.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lovely Bedtime Story
Harry, a toy elephant can't get to sleep. His friends, Lulu, a teddy bear, and Ted, a lamb go to sleep right away. Harry tries lots of things to get to sleep. He reads a bedtime story, hangs up his clothes, runs in place, touches his toes, and jumps up and down. Still he can not get to sleep. Then his friends help him. They all look out the window at the night sky, then snuggle up together, and finally, Harry falls fast asleep. This is a delightful bedtime story that will appeal to young children. Lewis is a skilled colored pencil artist, and offers beautiful , soft colored pencil illustrations that make use of soothing, pastel colors. Lewis' illustrations work well with the text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good night Harry

5-0 out of 5 stars For everyone who has a bear
I bought this book for our own bear, last Christmas. He never has insomnia, but was as delighted as his owners were to read this enchanting story, enjoying the dreamlike prose and illutrations. This book isn't just for children. It's for the child inside all of us, so that we never forget the magic and innocence of being young, and more importantly, that we neverforget the importance of bears. Remember - look after you bear, whetheryou're 2 or 92.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent bedtime story!
The comments from the Vermont reader match my feelings about Sleep Well, Little Bear exactly. The prose IS gentle, descriptive, and wonderful. The artwork, however, is so truly beautiful.I especially appreciatedBuchholz's use of light. The text and the soft, easy, lovingly detailedpictures makes it a very lulling read.I'm keeping this for my (very)future grandchildren.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous picture book
This is an truly lovable book.A little bear, in typical little boy style, can't quite get to sleep so he reviews his day of being a pirate on the river that flows past his house, and helping old Mrs Rose with her garden, and other wonders of a child's (and bear's) life. The prose is sweet and gentle and clever and lovely, but what really makes this book is the artwork--surreal, truly beautiful pictures of the circus clown playing his violin to put a baby elephant to sleep, and the little bear peering out his bedroom window at the moon, and the night musicians wandering through the meadow, and the deer in the mist.Buy it for yourself, lend it to your kids. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful bedtime story!
This is a fantastic book! The acrylic illustrations are very realistic, the rhythm of the story has a nice flow and is easily read aloud without being too rhyming. We began reading this as a library book and decided we couldn't live without it.The story goes through "Where do I sleep?. . . I'm a baby ___" for each of the dozen animals and ends with a little boy and a bed full of stuffed animals. This is one of my favorite books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enchanting and imaginative!
This book is absolutely one of the most beautifully illustrated children's books I have seen in a long time. The pictures capture the attention of both young children and adults alike. The clever story is also easy for kids to understand, while at the same time, educational. My kids love this book, and it would be a wonderful addition to your collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars A toddler must have!
This has been my 3-year-old's favorite bedtime (and morning time, and afternoon time...) book since he was 2. The soothing rhymes are so relaxing. Beautifully illustrated. We've had the copy from our church library for so long we decided we needed to invest in our own. If you like Goodnight Moon, you'll love Little Donkey. If you don't care for Goodnight Moon, you'll love Little Donkey. A wonderful investment!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it, love it, love it
The sweet illustrations are nice and the wonderful rythym of this story is absolutely the best. It has a rhyming text that is peaceful and tranquil and the most wonderful thing to read your little ones (and maybe big ones) to sleep with. We love it.

My 2+ year old LOVES this book. It takes the child through the average bedtime routine, asking questions (where do you sleep (warning: Prudence sleeps in a bed, NOT a crib), why do you dream and explainations (what aredreams, etc.).At the end of the story is a sweet, simple lullaby that shesings to us instead of us singing to her!My only problem with the book isthatit's VERY wordy - not a quick bedtime story. 5-0 out of 5 stars Children love this book
I bought this book because I knew it was family bed-friendly.But I have an 8 year old step-daughter who comes every other weekend who does not sleep with us and she absolutely loves this book also!Kids seem to really get a kick out of the repeating line, How am I supposed to sleep like this?!Like other reviewers, I love the realism-there are nights where you don't love the crowded bed, but you still wouldn't trade it for another arrangement!

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny and touching
The pictures are delightful, and the simple story is enjoyable for children of all ages. It was also a nice way to show my husband that we are not the only people who never use our crib for sleeping. It also let me know I am not the only mother with a husband lamenting, "How am I supposed to sleep like this?"

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun to read
