5-0 out of 5 stars Rhythmic, Colorful Fun for Children
In this title, Patricia Hubbard uses rhythm and fun to introduce colors.Children are quickly reciting the repetitive refrains with smiles on their faces as this book is introduced.G. Brian Karas' illustrations are colorful and imaginative providing good visualizations to Hubbard's imaginative, colorful ideas. The book uses a familiar crayon box to describe things that can be seen or drawn with each color.Preschoolers through beginning elementary school children love this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun!
Every child I know - my students, my children, my nieces and nephews - loves this book. The repetive refrain is perfect for beginning readers and the rhythm of the language engages young readers immediately.Your childwill want to hear the story over and over.Non-readers will make up theirown story but the refrain is easy and fun for them to remember and"read". ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not my favortie
OK for a very young child or baby. The pictures are not overly captivating and do not demonstrated the story clear enough to teach with out further explanation. I was a little dissapointed when we read it the first time.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Parental Favorite
The collage art is charming. The text is simple and inexplicably seet. My husband and I both enjoy reading it to our son (now 19 months).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great story for kids.
I read this to my two girls, ages 7 & 9 and they both liked it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Another Golden Book!!!
I thought the book was inspiring. It was about love, war, decisions, mystery, adventure, and to use your voice or to speak out your feelings. It made me wonder what its like to feel such a strong passion. I loved it and I think every one else should read it too.

The Boy Who Saved Baseball is about a boy named Tom who is trying to save a baseball field that is a landmark for this city. It is up to Tom and his famous Wildcats Baseball Camp team to play another team close to their town, which has pretty much all all-stars. All of a sudden a boy by the name of Cruz shows up at the camp and lifts the teams hopes up.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
We received this as a gift for our son. The illustrations are amzing and the colors are great. Definately worth the money...:)

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book
This beautifully-illustrated children's book starts with Great-Grandpa watching the Red Sox in 1918 and celebrates in detail the 2004 victory from the playoffs through the Duck Boat parade. The pictures and text are wonderfully detailed and (best of all for a diehard fan like me) accurate, from the bloody sock to watching the late-night playoff games in bed to Roberts' steal to the victory parade.
5-0 out of 5 stars Boston Red Sox Book for Children

4-0 out of 5 stars More that football
This story, aptly written by John Coy, is about high school football and more.It should be excellent reading for students in high school, those about to enter high school, and their parents and grandparents, because it conveys all the stresses experienced by a young lad who is expected to please everyone---his friends, his parents, his coaches, and his community.Despite all his talents, his feelings of failure are reflective of so many teens who, from all outside appearances, would appear to have it made.Does he give in to the pressures?Read for yourself and find out....

4-0 out of 5 stars Football maniacs, read this book. By Guillaume
This book is superb. It is about a boy, Miles, who is in high school. He loves football, but unlike his teammates, he doesn't take steorides. His coach thinks he is not muscular enough, so he puts him in the reserve. Meanwhile, he also has a girl friend. When practice is over, he stays out with his girl friend, Lucia.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nail-biting drama from the football field
CRACKBACK aptly describes the action on and off the field in this debut novel by John Coy. A crackback block comes from the outside and it can destroy you if you're not careful. Miles Manning, a junior and a star football player, is blindsided by some crushing blows that seem to come out of nowhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars An entertaining picutrebook excellent for motivating young people to learn how to ride a two-wheeler
Written by Grammy Award-winning guitarist, songwriter, and experienced cyclist, Mike and the Bike is a combination picturebook and audio CD with original music. Mike and the Bike tells about an ordinary boy who loves to cycle - while wearing a bicycle helmet, of course! The vivid color illustrations add a touch of surrealism to his cycling adventures, and the audio CD allows the reader to read or listen along to Mike's crazy adventures. An entertaining picutrebook excellent for motivating young people to learn how to ride a two-wheeler.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book with a simple message
Both my 5.5 year old and my 2.5 year old love this little book (the 5.5 year old has it pretty much memorized). The CD is a nice addition (The author is formerly of The Wallflowers, so knows music) and his daughter is the child's voice in many of the songs.
5-0 out of 5 stars 4 year old loves this book and his bike
Our 4 year old got this book and LOVES it!Our son is almost as big as a cycling fan as his dad, so it is quite exciting for him.Now when he rides he often quotes sections of the book.Warning for parents, the CD can get a little annoying after you listen to it over and over and over.I really like having the story read on the CD.I wish more books were available on CD. This book and CD have provided a lot of entertainment for our son. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring role model
I love this book! It's a great story of how sports can shape your life in a positive way. Swimmers and non-swimmers alike will be inspired by Jenny's story. This great book is now available as an e-book for those of you who can't find a copy of the original printing. You can order here from amazon.com, the isbn is B0001GDOUQ.

5-0 out of 5 stars How Jenny dealt with the negative peer pressure
Fast Lane To Victory is the third in Wish Publishing's outstanding "Anything You Can Do...New Sports Heroes For Girls" series and the story of swim champion Jenny Thompson. Swimming was what Jenny like best, but when her friends at school started to tease her and call her "tomboy" and "Too Tall Thompson", she felt the pressures placed on a lot of young girls to conform to social norms of what was "proper" for girls. Jenny dealt with the negative peer pressure and became so successful as an athlete that she came to be called the "Fastest Swimmer in the World". Also very highly recommended for school and community library collections are the first two volumes in this superbly presented and inspiring sports oriented series for girls: A Drive To Win: The Story Of Nancy Lieberman (40-8, ...) and Sword Of A Champion: The Story Of Sharon Monplaisir (39-4, ...). ... He could not even make his team, the Red Birds. But then he met a man at the Red Birds' practice. He sometimes watches the Red Birds practice and one day he met Mr. Baruth. Will Sylvester get better? If you like this book review is goodto your nearest book store or library. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great for just starting out.
I grew up reading Matt Christopher books and now at the age of 20 I owe my great interest in baseball literature to him and his books. They are great for kids to get into reading about the sports they love to play and they teach great life and sport lessons espicially about humility. There will always be a place in my heart for his literature and this is probably his best book on baseball. Highly reccomended. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So, other people make mistakes, too? Not just me?
We all make mistakes and if you love baseball and if you enjoy hearing about how other people made bigger mistakes than you ever will - mistakes that cost World Series titles - then Dan Gutman has written a book for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars Baseball's Biggest Bloopers The Games That Got Away
I read the book Baseball's Biggest Bloopers The Games That Got Away by Dan Gutman. This book was about players that blew it big time! Many of thwe games lost the World Series for the team. But somtimes it just lost the game and the team came back and won the Series. In this book there are 12 humiliating stories that will make even you, fell bad for the players. My favorite story was Herb Washington Designated Pick-Off Victim. It was about an olympic runner that was taken to the Oakland A's.When he got to the Statdium he didn't even know how to play baseball, and teh A's tought him how to paly and then n one game he got picked-off.I would recommend this book to anyone that likes baseball or any sports.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for baseball fans
Baseball is a tough sport to play sometimes. Many times players make mistakes called bloopers. These bloopers you see in almost every game. Sometimes they cost a regular game, a pennant, or to make it worse theworld series! This book has tons of it. It talks about players who mess upthe game so bad they have the rest of their life to think what they didwrong! You will enjoy this book so much that once you done reading, youcan't stop! So buy this book. It's called Baseballs biggest bloopers thegames that got away. This will be one of the greatest baseball books youwill ever get! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars the soccer cool
this book is kind of like my live because, in my soccer games i always play left striker but there is one thing that is different that my parent's aren't diborsed so i am cool with that5-0 out of 5 stars Soccer Duel Masterpiece!
This book helps me really relate to my life.I am the left striker, my parents are divorced, but unlike the story it's my mom who usually can't make it to the games because she is blind so she can't drive. It's hard because when I move fromhouse-to-house I have to move equipment too. This situation makes me feel bad because at my dad's house I have two stepsisters and a stepmom and my dad has to drive them everywhere and it sometimes make him feel like a taxi driver! This book is a real situation story and it is probably my favorite book in the series, though I also suggest Soccer Scoop! Ned Donovan. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Learing how to catch fish as a kid is easier than I thought
I went fishing once when I was a kid, but I certainly did not know what I was doing.I caught a couple of fish, which we released, but had trouble getting the hooks out without really damaging the fish (yes, I have guilt over this; the reason for killing a fish would be to eat it).My kids have gone a couple of times with Granddad Nelson in the mountains of California and have all enjoyed success, but they were pretty much told where to stand and what to do and the only thing that mattered in the end was that my son was ticked that his younger sister caught the biggest fish (we have the photo to prove it).So we know virtually nothing about the art of fishing.Enter "The Barefoot Fisherman: A Fishing Book for Kids."5-0 out of 5 stars Very well done!
This "how to" book targets young kids; however, even adults who read it learn new things. 5-0 out of 5 stars For preparing the neophyte fisherman
The Barefoot Fisherman: A Fishing Book For Kids by experienced fishing enthusiast Paul Amdahl is an excellent and "reader friendly" introduction to the sport of fishing for aspiring young anglers of all ages and backgrounds. Individual chapters address catching a variety of different fish, from catfish to bass and walleyes, as well as lures, fly fishing, bait fishing and much more. The Barefoot Fisherman is an enthusiastically recommended "how to" guide for preparing the neophyte fisherman on how to get them most out of their fishing trip! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The issues
A white basketball player Jimmy Doyle from Granham , Minnesota is the best player in the area. He is so good that he gets invited to play on the American Dream Team that gets to play in Europe against other countries. Once he is on the team he soon realizes that the team is mostly black and some of his black teammates don't like that Jimmy is on the team. But the biggest problem for the team is the racism and prejudice that they face from the people in Europe. The people are saying hateful things to the black players and the players face bigotry throughout the whole time. And Jimmy who thought that the Dream Team would be all about playing basketball but soon realizes that it is actually about the hatred of his black teammates. So now Jimmy and his teammates have to find a way to get through this together.
4-0 out of 5 stars Danger Zone: Taking on the Competition
Do you know what it is like to be in the zone? Jimmy Doyle is a small-town hero in Granham, Minnesota, but he wonders if he can play at the top. When he is invited to play in an international tournament in Italy, he must choose to stay at home and help in the family store, or to go and play in the chance of a lifetime. Jimmy feels that he must stay at home and help his family, but he ends up going anyway with his family's support. He flies out to Los Angeles and meets the other nine teammates for the first time. Some arguments between Jimmy and his teammates occur before they fly out to Italy. The team dominates the competition until a death threat from psychotic terrorists force the team into hiding. David Klass's novel Danger Zone, published in 1996, tries to tell the reader about bad race relations and judging without basis can be a bad thing for all people.
4-0 out of 5 stars Are you in danger or in the zone?
Jimmy is a star in his hometown, but can he play with All Stars in the U.S? Jimmy is from Minnesota where he is the star in small town Granham. He can play Basketball, but can he compete with international teams as he joins the U.S. Teen Dream Team? They first travel to Los Angeles to practice with the team before the tournament. The top ten teen players in the country make the team and Jimmy is one of the two white players.Does his color make him look bad in the first practices?"Danger Zone" published in 1996 by David Klass shows Augustus' (black player on Jimmy's team) life in L.A. is very different from Jimmy's small town life. After Jimmy puts that and other conflicts behind him the U.S. Teen Dream Team flies to Italy for the tournament. There are more conflicts and a death threat is sent to them.Racism and loyalty take over the tournament.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended - They did it again!
I ran out and bought this book for my 7 year old son after getting their first book- By My Brother's Side.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good story about family ;-)
What a really cute book.I got this for my little nephew who loves it.The pictures are lovely and so well done, and the story is real.It is about family and being there for each other.Of course there is the sport which will keep all kids entertained. It's a great effort from a (cute) very talented Giant of the game.Especially good for little boys, they will want you to read this over and over.

4-0 out of 5 stars The true story of the famous twin football players
Young Tiki and Ronde Barber play football for their hometown team in Virginia.Tiki often gets the ball and scores more often than Ronde, who is feeling a bit neglected and overlooked as a result. His blocks help Tiki score. Why don't people recognize that fact? His mother and his coach are fortunately of the mindset that every effort is worthwhile and that teamwork is what wins games and spells success.Ronde feels some of that spirit by the end of the story.

I originally had to read "Hoops" for a summer reading assignment for my English class. Then after the first two chapters I couldn't wait to read another page.Walter Dean Myers is one of my favorite authors, he always writes great books and I'm always pleased with his work."Hoops" is one of the best books I've ever held in my hands. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat, you find yourself reading faster and faster, so anxious to turn the next page.

Do you think he and his team win the tournament and become NBA players? If you really want to know read this good book.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of my favs
This book ,"Hoops" by Walter Dean Myers, is one of my favorite books.Because i love sports and i love to play basketball. It is mostly about a boy named Lonnie Jackson. He lives in a neighborhood where it is like the ghetto.Lonnie and his friends are big fans of basketball and Lonnie is like the star basketball player out of all of them. They have their own court where they play and one day they see a guy standing there. His name was Cal and at first they all thought he was stupid and retarded. And then they all noticed that he use to play in the NBA. He becomes their basketball coach and they begin their season and enter a tournament. They reach it to the finals and for some reason Cal had a bad past with gamblers who came back for revenge. During the finals Lonnie and Coach Cal had a decision of a life time. This book made me angry and sad at the same time.I would recommend this book to all or basketball players because they would understand how important it is to have a big decision on hand and making the right choices in life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Curious George Rules
I read this as a child and think it is a classic. My own children have loved these books.Newer books aren't always better.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 Georgie Dans Le Forest
When the now iconic Man in the Big Yellow Hat warns Curious George,"now don't wander off and get into trouble," we know exactly what's about to happen instead (especially since he had already rushed off). Despite his good intentions, George adventures turn into misadventures: Dousing someone's campfire, getting lost with a galloping deer, and being sprayed by a skunk that George thought was a cat. As usual in these series (story by Margret Rey, with illustrations by a team in the style of the late H.A. Rey), George's curiosity also leadsto some monkey heroics. He also learns howto get rid of skunk smell (a vat of tomato juice).4-0 out of 5 stars Curious George Goes Camping

4-0 out of 5 stars Rotten School will have young boys laughing
This is the fourth book in Stine's newest series "Rotten School". Very humorous and full of that toilet humor young boys are so fond of, this book will appeal to fans of "Captain Underpants" or the books by James Marshall. The fourth grade football team at Rotten School known as the "Rotten Apples," has never won a football game. At least not until Jennifer Ecch joins the team, wanting to be close to her boyfriend Bernie Bridges. He refers to her as the Nightmare Girl, but if she can get the team to win with her large size and blocking abilities, that's just fine with him. In fact, if she can lead the team to the National Championship he will even wear the 10 sweaters she plans to knit for him that read, " Bernie loves Jen" and he'll get a date with the beautiful cheerleader April-May June. Unfortunately after winning every game Bernie realizes that the last game must be played against the roughest team, the "Bone Breakers" and he sets out to find a way to sabotage their winnings. Illustrated in black and white line drawings with washes of gray and includes a map of the Rotten School campus. The book is chock full of stereotypical characters - the cheerleader, the rich kid, the athlete, the geek - which fit perfectly with the style of the book. Humor abounds with names like R.U. Dumm Football Field and Headmaster Upchuck, illustrations of the Hammerhead Sharks showing their helmets in the shape of hammerhead sharks, and puns throughout. What boy is not going to love this? ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Challenge at Second Base
I read the book Challenge at Second Base by Matt Christofer.I read it as a W.E.B book.It was about a kid,Stan, who almost missed the sign up date for baseball. He plays second base and gets a challenge for his position by a new kid,Gary, that is very good at baseball.Stans brother used to play baseball but quit because it was getting too intense.Stan gets strange notes about not quiting. He also loves to buils models. He is thinking about giving up baseball to build models. Will he do it? Read the book and find out.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like "challenge at second base" becasue its action, its suspensful, its a book that when you read a page you cant wait to turn the other.I like this book because it's about baseball and baseball is my life.It is about this kid Stan wanting to play second base but Gary Newman wants to also.At first the raiders start of the season with a win and Gary Newman started the game at second base but when they got more in the season Stan became really good even better then Gary and the coach had put him to start in the final game of the season also in the championship that they accomplished to get to.They are both good so this book keeps you in suspense.I also like this book because its a book that you dont want to stop reading and you want to know what happends but you will have to wait to find out.I love this book and theres no reason for you not to love it too!

3-0 out of 5 stars Mark's Review
