5-0 out of 5 stars GreatBook!
I'm a 9 year old boy who loves sports.I had to read a mystery book for school. This book was perfect because it was interesting, fun to read and exciting. It starts out with two 12 year old boys named Benton Crawford and Dana Bellamy. They are neighbors, friends and on the same soccer team.A fire breaks out at Benton's house.Dana's dad saves Benton and his sister.Benton starts a rumor that Dana's dad who was their electrician had done a bad job wiring the house and that was what Benton thought caused the fire. After the fire Benton never passed the ball to Dana anymore.Things get really heated up between Benton and Dana.

5-0 out of 5 stars "A Slugger, Mark McGwire"
I enjoy all of Matt Christopher's books especially his "Sport Bio" ones. I checked out this grand book at the public libary. The way Matt Christopher wrote when McGwire was little to when hewas a slugger, when he "stunk", and much more.I really hope peopleof all ages read about such a star. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mara really liked Cookies and Crutches!
The Pee Wees have to make cookies and let Mrs. Peters taste them. They try and try, but still couldn't make them. My favorite quote from this book was when Molly says to Rachel, "You've got a hex on those running shoes!" This is an excellent book. You can read and enjoy it anytime!

Chip is a leader on and off the court. These books teach children about morals and ethics.5-0 out of 5 stars j's review

I think this book is very good because it's very educational for us kids.I really recommend this book to other kids because it gives an authur's message of hard work really pays off.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This great book on Sammy Sosa is superior in every way to most of the "cash-in" paperbacks written on baseball superstars. Well-written, engaging and full of information, Sosa may not be baseball's Superman, but he is an interesting guy profiled in this interesting book. Buy it[...]

3-0 out of 5 stars Fiery Fullback Review
The book Fiery Fullback was about a kid, Chip Hilton, who turns a kid named Greg Hansen into a good football player. Chip Hilton is State's quarterback and State needs to win many games to make it to the Rose Bowl. They have a problem, though. State's best middle linebacker, Greg Hansen does not cooperate with the coaches and has no respect for other players. He has a poor attitude towards middle linebacker, because hewants to play another position. Greg Hansen wants to play running back for State. The spot was already taken by Fireball Finley, who was much quicker and much better of a running back than Greg. Greg wanted to play running back because his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had played this position. His father had an injury in high school and it ruined the chances of him being a professional football player. Greg wanted to make his father proud. He tried to work it out with the coach, but Coach Ralston would rather have Fireball at that position. After hearing this news, Greg Hansen quit State football team. Chip Hilton tries to bring him back to the team, but he does not listen to Chip. He wanted to be a running back hero. After a while, Chip goes to Greg's house and convinces him to come back. Greg Hansen then realizes that middle linebacker can be a good position, too, after getting a couple of good hits. He decides to change his attitude and State beats their last match-up of the regular season. The book also has many other exciting parts to it; not only with Greg Hansen. The games were very enjoyable for me to read. This book was great because I like football, and I like to read about heroes. Chip Hilton was the hero in this book. He lead the State football team to win all of their regular season games.

5-0 out of 5 stars Original Manuscript is Great
Evidently the other person who wrote a review of this book read the paperback version. If you want the "classic" and unrevised Chip Hilton, you have to read the hardcover version.(Yes, they are two different things.)The hardcover version is the exact manuscript discovered in Clair Bee's personal effects after he died.Indeed, it is not quite as polished as the other books, in that there are a few minor continuity issues between this and some earlier titles, but this is a look at Clair Bee's last Chip Hilton story, before the final edits it never received. For any fan of the original, unrevised Chip Hilton series, this book is a must have.If you don't like all the revisions that have been made in the paperback versions of the stories, don't read them -- stick with the originals and the HC version of Fiery Fullback.

2-0 out of 5 stars New Chip Hilton book a disappointment
I've been a fan of the Chip Hilton books for year, and was happy to hear that a new one was coming out.The book was a disappointment, however, and does not measure up to the first 23.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars All Star Fever: A Peach Stree Mudders Story
This is a good book if you like books that are about sports. The best part is when he made the all-star team.Earlier on in the story he was nervous because scouts that picked that all-star team were watching. On the last game he almost didn't make it to the game, because he couldn't find his bike helmet. He almost missed the game until he told his mom he disobeyed her and she gave him his helmet. This is a good lesson about telling the truth and following your parent's rules.

From the beginning Chip, Soapy, Speed Morris, and Ted Williams were enimies sith Nick and Carl Carey. Chet Stewart the assistant coach ne at once that that Nick was trying to help Carl try to beat Chip out of the lead catcher job.During the games chip called the pitches and Nick didn't even shake them off he just pitched a different pitch. Chip, Taps Browning, Soapy and Speed all went to a Spring Festival at State where they went to see their future coaches. That's where he met Del Bennett and he asked him for some pitching lessons. He asked him not to tell the rock about it and because he wanted to tell him when he was ready. Chip built a strike zone on his fence but when he got his first chance with Soapy behind the plate and he didn't do well because his mound wasn't elevated. Then when Soapy claimed nick wasn't following the signs trullo was asked to turn in his uniform. after that They got to the championships. Will they win will will Nicks attitude change you have to read Strike 3.

4-0 out of 5 stars Can a skateboarder become a snowboarder?
The book I'm reviewing is Snowboard Maverick by Matt Christopher. I think this book deserves four out of five stars. It is a interesting book. This book is about a boy who is great at skateboarding, but his friends want him to try snowboarding. He likes it but he gets into trouble. The problem of the story is he gets dared to go down Fords Mountain. I recommend this book to anybody who likes snowboarding.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book was big pimpin
The book Snowboard Maverick was a very great book.It tell you about a person who loves skateboarding and whenever it snowed he couldn't skateboard cause it was too icy.So all of his friends are snowboarding adn he wants to learn how.Whenever he learns to be pretty good he is challenged buy a big bully who is a very good snowboarder. He is very scared of the bully but his parents encourage him and he takes the challenge.Whenever he showes up they go down the hill and it is the first one down the hill who wins and he beats the bully and quits skateboarding and becomes a snowboarder.Every winter when it snowes him and his friends go snowboarding. This book is one of the best books i have ever read.

They're all very good friends. Dennis wants a snowboard because skateboarding season is over and he wants to try snowboarding. Of course though he doesnt have enough money to buy one.
