I enjoyed this book alot. Although I am 32 years old, I still enjoy reading the stuff that kids today read. I think it was definitely worth the read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thank you Mr MacGregor
My older boys love this series! My oldest has been playing travel hockey for 10 years (he's 17).He started reading the Screech Owls when he was 10 years old, but when our 2nd son started reading them several years ago, and newer stories were written, I'd catch Nicholas reading them, too (literally only taking minutes to polish it off!).Our 2nd boy doesn't play hockey (golf and tennis), but he truly enjoys the series. He already put all the news Screech Owl books on his Christmas list for this year.5-0 out of 5 stars Good young book

3-0 out of 5 stars Great skater, average biography
Tara Lipinski is a wonderful skater, but this biography does not begin to do her justice. It is filled with errors that could have been easily corrected by either having an editor who knows something about skating or watching a videotape of the performances in question.Even the photos are nothing special. For a better book about Tara's career, try her autobiography, Triumph on Ice.Skip this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Feels Like You're There
On the Ice with Tara Lipinski is a great book. The author is Matt Christopher. He is a great writer. When I read this book I felt like I was there watching Tara skate on the ice.It was a great book and still is.So, whoever is looking for a sports book, this is the one for you to read!

5-0 out of 5 stars I G's book review
My book is called Pitchers Duel by Coach Clair Bee. This book is about an high school all star player who learns that there are bullies who can bring people down. There were bullies that didn't like the coach and wanted to suspend Chip to make their team lose state. The bullies poured things on the coach who is Rockwell and Chip wanted to save him, so he got into a fight and got suspended. Then once the suspension was over, the bullies had to think of another plan to set on Chip. So they forged Chip's contract that he got to prevent him to play in the playoffs. Chip went to the police to prove that he didn't sign it. Finally, he came back in the championship game to play the 10th inning through the 19th. They lost that game and then Rockwell retired.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for All Sports Fans!
A Pass and a Prayer is a great book to read for all sports fans. It's fiction, but it's realistic fiction. Also, if you like this one, you should read the rest of the series by Coach Clair Bee. THis book is number 5. It's also about high school football. So, if you go to high school football games and enjoy them, you will probabally like this book. As you can see, this book is great for sports fans. Especially football fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book in the series
I have read just about all of the 20+ volumes in the Hilton series and this has always been my favorite. In addition to being good sports stories, Chip always had to overcome some evil forces to triumph in the end.The evil is so strong in this story, that I want to punch the air in satisfaction when Chip wins out - no matter how many times I have read the book.If you are new to the series, however, I would suggest you start with the first story - "Touchdown Pass" - and go from there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good But Not the Original
This volume seems to be one of the favorites of Chip Hilton fans everywhere. The forces of evil mobilized against Chip are particularly bad and the final scene actually a bit violent (well, at least by the standardsof fifty years ago). Read and see how far we, as a people, have fallen inhalf a century. Of course, better still, read the original. The currentedition has been updated to satisfy the dogmas of feminism and the clichesof youth culture. Gosh, doesn't anyone getthat it was those very forceswhich destroyed the world of Chip and Coach Rockwell and gave us America of1999?! ... Read more

Snowboard Showdown By: ???
5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Rocks
I love this book because I love snowboarding. In this book, two brothers have a contest to see who is better at snowboarding.Freddie and Donovan tease each other a lot.Donovan won't admit that Freddie is a better athlete. Freddie and his friends all think that he is better than Donovan.I also liked this book because the brothers play pig and I love to play pig. This book is exciting because you don't really know what happens next, things sort of pop out at you when you don't really expect it.You should read this book because it has action and is fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
On the Court with Kobe Bryant is definetly the best book I have ever read. It gives a complete biography about Kobe`s whole life. It also includes many picture pages of Kobe inside. You should buy this book and you will be happy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bio of Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant maybe one of the youngest basketball players in the NBA. He is the son of Joe"Jeallybean" Bryant, a basketball player and star of various European teams. Kobe's childhood watching professional basketball games made him pick up a basketball for the first time. He was learning how to shoot and dribble. His basketball education was a unique combination of lessons on basic fundamentals, one-on-one game against his dad, and keen observation and analysis of the world's best players. Kobe learned his lesson well, and at age 18 he was given the chance to prove it. He was drafted into the NBA when he was fresh out of high school. Kobe showed that he had the talent and the heart to make it in the pros. From one out of five, I rate this book a five because it made me want to play basketball.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Scrappers Series
I have read everyone of Mr. Hughes'Books about the Scrappers to my son...BR>He loves to read them time and again, you get caught up in the game with these kids (Scrappers) and how they become better players and become friends and real team players.3-0 out of 5 stars Baseball's Fun
The main character in this book is Robbie.Robbie is on a baseball team.At a game a friend doesn't know how to swing. Also,in the story Robbie's cousin went on vacation so Robbie's team is going to need a girl, and she is pretty good.I recommend this book for kids 10, 11, and even 12 years old. This book is pretty good and exciting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Play Ball, Volume 1
What a great book for all the kids out there, boys AND girls, that like to play baseball! We coach three Little League Baseball teams right now (ages 6-7, 8, and 10) and have recommended this series to all of our teams as a great summer reading program. The books are written for ages 8-12, but younger children with a pretty good understanding of baseball will enjoyreading the book with an adult. My 6 and 7 year old boys loved this bookand are eager to read the next book (they are not big reading fans, so Iwas happy to support the reading habit by getting the entire series forthem). 3-0 out of 5 stars Basic
This book was the not the greatest if you have athletes in your classes. The games were general, some of them would be no fun to use. They certainly are not lead-up games, they are simply games teaching no fundementals of sports.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use!
