5-0 out of 5 stars awesome book
I discovered this book in the late 80's when my kindergarten teacher read it to us. I liked it so much that I begged my grandma to buy it for me when we were shopping. I had a fascination with the colour pink back then so I could relate. I would only drink my milk or juice in my pink cup and no other, and only sleep if I had my pink blanket and stuff like that just as in this book with red.

5-0 out of 5 stars For everyone who's Mom has never quite understood them!
This was one of my favourites as a child, and now that I've reached the ripe old age of 19, I still read it now and then. This book is brilliantly written from a kid's point of view (i.e. "juice tastes better in thered cup"), so all kids will enjoy it.I thought it was a nice touchthat Kelly's mom lost patience about having everything red. That is SOtrue!5-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for any child or child-at-heart!
This is a "feel good" book!I first bought this for my niece, and I loved it so much, I had to get one myself!I think Stinson really hits on the way a child's imagination works. The little girl, Kelly, cando anything when she is wearing her favorite color red.It makes me wantto go buy everything red! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars So depressing!!!
I guess the point of this book was to get kids to identify with the lead character, know that their feelings around divorce are not unique, and help them to discuss how they are feeling. While it may succeed in those aims (if those were the aims), it manages to paint a rather bleak and depressing picture, and just made our family feel sad with very little positive to focus on.To give you an idea, the final words of the book are:"My mommy and my daddy love me too.Just not together."

1-0 out of 5 stars Dull and obvious
I found this an extremely dull and stilted story with no sense of humour or appreciation of a child's wit at all. It read like a school book with its clinical political correctness. If you're looking for a picture book about divorce for young kids I would recommend a book like Babette Cole's The Un-Wedding (also published as "Two of Everything") or Emily Haughton's Rainy Day. Cole's book is full of humour and yet deals with serious issues - my 4 y.o. wanted me to read it for her again and again in the months after the separation. Haughton's book is more dreamy and has a double meaning that appeals more to me than to my 4 y.o. but has a far higher quality than this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read Book For Any Adult or Child of Divorce
If I were to read only one book in the whole world, I would choose "Mom and Dad Don't Live Together Anymore". I was a teenager when my parents divorced, and I felt devestated, like my heart was being ripped in half.I first read this book when I was in my late twenties. I felt so much healing from reading this book, the words on the page allowed me to cry and know that it was o.k. Then towards the end of the book the author gives you a positive way to think and act about your feelings. This book is truely inspirational and has changed my life ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Something is missing
When I sat down with my son to read this book I was prepared to read about body parts including the "private" ones. It was a real treat to see these parts on a wide variety on bodies. After I read it I sat and thought about how much it really means to share a book like this with my son.For him to see moms with thick tummies and dads with double chins. How unique the characters' facial features and body types were.Slowly it began to occur to me that something was not quite right.Everyone in this book is white.5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely book
I bought this book after hearing about it from friends and it certainly lives up to the praise. Both my kids love it and it's very matter of fact about our bodies and how we are different and the same. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A good read
It was good and thoughtful and a little disturbing as the story has some sex parts that I don't really think kids under 14 should read as it certainly bugged me for a day. On the other hand it's nice that Ruby was so truthful and probably for most her age fought so much with her mother. It made me think and I liked it. It had a dreary sad tone the whole way through. It's a short easy read saying how most teenagers are.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cute and Honest
I've been waiting for some teen fiction that was actually honest! The book is about a girl that is about 16-17. It is her thoughts of her first boyfriend, sex, family, and everything else a girl thinks about. But it's really honest, not fake like most of the books are. I liked Ruby's personality and the way she handled living with her difficult mother. I think older teens will really love it. A word of caution, it does has sexual content. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't read this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a really boring book which only deals with every-day stories. It is written from two perspectives and both of them write emotionally and you think they are really crazy.O.K.now my comment of this book. The story is and the action,too.E.g.when Jill and Chad are at the beach and Jill wants to go swimming.Normally here the scene must continue in other ways......

4-0 out of 5 stars Find yourself
Reading the book you are confrontated with the two protagonists Jill and Chad. The story(s)are written in form of a diary from two perspectives. So in the beginning the reader would not expect this two stories having anything to do with each other. However, they finally meet. The start of a beautiful friendship...3-0 out of 5 stars An interesting book for teenagers
The story is about two teenagers who have problems with their parents. The girl, Jill, who is 17 years old runs away from home because her relationship to her father becomes worse, since he steals her dancing money. She stays in the Fish House for three days where she meets Chad, a fifteen-year-old boy, whose mother died in a car accident. As they recognize that they have the same problems they fall in love. The book is written from Jill?s and Chad?s perspective and is divided up in three diary entries. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Our son loved this book
