Editorial Review

The torture and hell of adolescence has rarely been captured as clearly as it is in this classic diary by an anonymous, addicted teen. Lonely, awkward, and under extreme pressure from her "perfect" parents, "Anonymous" swings madly between optimism and despair. When one of her new friends spikes her drink with LSD, this diarist begins a frightening journey into darkness. The drugs take the edge off her loneliness and self-hate, but they also turn her life into a nightmare of exalting highs and excruciating lows. Although there is still some question as to whether this diary is real or fictional, there is Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True Story?
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous is a story about a teenage girl written in the format of a diary. Not much is told to us about the setting but the culture seems late 60's and the girl has no name, so we'll call her 'Alice'. Lots of spoilers on this lens.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book
This is one of the best books i have ever read. This book should be read by every teen out there. Alice has a very hard life for a teen and i think this could be self related to a bunch of teens out. I am 13 years old and when i read this book it woke me up. I have learned so much fomr it and everything. I recommend this book to everyone of the age of 13 and older. This is an amazing story of a teen. This is an easy reader i have read this book in about 5 days because its so good and you just cant put it down! The one law the book has is the ending when she stops writing in her journal and decides to move on. I understood the whole book but the end how she died (if she was addicted to drugs again or not). This is a wake up to the world with drug.

3-0 out of 5 stars Liked it until i read the last page
I watched the movie first most recently then found out there was a book.I thought it was just some cooky movie from the seventies with Captain Kirk from star trek starring as the father.I got to reading the book and at times wondered about it mainly because it was so different from the movie, but in most cases thats what happens to movies, they chop the book up to shorten it.Anyways, I read the whole thing at work in 2 days and I sort of liked it because I like these types of drug books, they are interesting to see how a person goes through their "drug stages", but the last page of the book bothered me.It said that she dies and I just didn't understand because she was so happy during the last several pages that it made no sense. Was her death just played off to make people think that once you use, you will always use and eventually die.But then i got to reading some of the reviews other people have left on here and it began to sink in that this book might actually be a hoax.Funny though, I think as a teenager, had I read this book, I would have tried drugs because of how they were described and how feelings were described in the beginning of the book, nevertheless, i enjoyed the book although I can really see how it just might possibly be a hoax to conform or keep away kids from drugs. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Cool book, cool series
As a teenager, I think a lot of books for kids today are sort of stupid. Like, they always talk to us like they're talking to our parents too. This book, BUZZ, talks directly to us--and I like that. The author lets us figure stuff out for ourselves, he doesn't cram it down our throats. It's respectful. In case you didn't know, this book is part a whole series of books (called FlipSwitch) on topics like drugs and alcohol, sex, divorce and self-image. Not all the issues might apply to you, but usually you have friends that are going through this stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal Stuff For Your Teenagers!
I can't recommend Marcus Brotherton's BUZZ and HEAT enough to young people.Recently in our youth ministry we passed out a number of these books to a group of high school students. They couldn't put them down. It's obvious that the truth and style in which these books are written are highly relevant to youth today. They're edgy.Highly entertaining.Short enough for anyone to read. They are NOT preachy. Most of all they are thought provoking.Marcus has done an amazing job of raising serious questions and answers to serious issues. I highly recommend getting a handful of these books and passing them out to any youth that you know. They will read them. And better yet, they'll deeply consider the truth presented there.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like this concept
Having worked with youth for over two decades, I'm grateful when a book hits where a teen lives in a relevant way. BUZZ strips away the hype to get real about what drugs and alcohol really do in the live of any person. It offers an alternative message that teens will not only "get", but be able to live.

1-0 out of 5 stars Marijuana: The Truth
I have been a smoker for some time now. I know that no matter what it is it is not good to breathe in smoke but what this woman has to say about Marijuana is (as she likes to say) "Bull"! If you want to know the REAL dangers and the REAL facts about this "drug" try going to NORML.COMAnd read the book "Why Marijuana should be legal" by Ed Rosenthal. This woman did not do verry good resurch for her book. I wish i could say everything i want to but i dont have a lot of time. And she is telling young kidsNOT to believe what they read online...if its good. She is pretty much saying "Ignore all of the proven FACTS about marijuana". Read more

I wish I'd had this book while I was growing up! I recommend it to young people as well as to their teachers and others who work with youngsters and need a better understanding of what children of alcoholic parents are going through. The poem on the dedication page is especially insightful. The author obviously has a thorough knowledge and understanding of this subject.Don't miss the eye-opening quiz at the beginning of the book! 5-0 out of 5 stars A Valuable & Worthwhile Addition to this Alcoholic's Library
It is amazing how much valuable information the author has packed into this short 64pp volume. And the pictures, many of which have not appeared elsewhere in the hagiography of Bill Wilson, make this volume one of a kind. Although the publisher indicates that it is directed to the Ala-Teen and Ala-Tot audiences, those 10 to 14, this 71+ multi-diagnosed addict and alcoholic recommends it to those with the diseases of addiction and alcoholism, as well as those surrounding we chosen ones. ["I am grateful that God chose me to be an alcoholic and an addict."]5-0 out of 5 stars Intended for children, but educational for adults as well
Even if you have never struggled with addiction you most likely owe a debt to the subject of BILL W: A DIFFERENT KIND OF HERO. You most likely have a friend or relative who has attended "Alcoholics Anonymous" or one of its sister groups. These groups have become a part of the very fabric of our culture and contributed to creating a atmosphere more open to talking about addictions and disorders. One would think that due to his huge contribution to the self-awareness and recovery movement, more would be known of Bill Wilson. But his obscurity is testimony to his success, as 11th Tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous reads: "we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films."Read more
