4-0 out of 5 stars Nearly Wordless Story Book
This book was highly recommended in Teaching Reading in the 21st Century for use in kindegarten and first grade classrooms. The children can make up a story to fit the pictures. It lets them use their imagination and helps them understand story structure.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Nice Animal Book for Babies and Toddlers - a review of "Early Morning in the Barn"
This is one of Nancy Tafuri's lesser known books, but is quite a nice one.In this mostly wordless book (there is no text except for animal sounds like `cheep, cheep' and `moo'), a clutch of chicks visits their barnyard neighbors.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great picture book for young kids.
I like Wheres my Duckling, it wass a great book.Children that are just learning to read will really enjo this book. They will be able to tell what is going on in the story by just looking at the pictures. The pictures in the story are very well illustrated. I would recommend this book to early childhood teachers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Enchanting. Deserves it's award
This book is filled with lovely pictures of a mother duck as she searches for her baby who wandered off. 5-0 out of 5 stars A few words, and a search.
This book is about a mother duck that cannot find one of her ducklings. She goes around asking the other denizens of the pond if they have seen it. The fun thing is that, if you look, you will find where the ducklingis.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book
I love this book, I have been reading this book to my son from the day he was born, he is now 13 months. Now when I recite the first line of the book, he will grab it from his book pile and come sit with me to read together.I have even added my own verse at the end.
5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book
This book is awesome, I read it to my son every night at bed time. It's so tender, speaks of the love a Mother has for her baby. The pictures are gorgeous, and the words are a lullaby of sorts.
5-0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Book
Within 2 weeks of reading this book, my daughter knows the catch phrase, I love you forever, and ever, and always. It is heartwarming to have her sit in your lap and read along about the "wild creatures" and their offspring.I really enjoy this book especially because my daughter calls me Mama, and there aren't many books that refer to the mother by that term! So, it's especially dear to me! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars small error
As a children's library clerk, I see many such books in the course of my work. This is a lovely picture book; however, one thing bothers me: the baby fox is repeatedly referred to, both in the blurb and the actual text, as a 'fox cub'. Baby foxes are not cubs. They are kits. I hope this will be corrected in later editions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We like this book
My four-year-old loves this imaginative book, and so do his father and I.We are fond of Nancy Tafuri's style of illustration and have some of her other books, all of which we enjoy.I think flipping the book over to read about the sun/moon fascinates our son.The comparison of what goes on in the daytime and nighttime stimulates imagining of what our "daytime" places are like at night. The book is short and simple, but sometimes that's what we want -- especially when we want a short bedtime book!Overall, this book is pleasant and soothing, not spectacular but attractive, fun, and definitely worth reading.

3-0 out of 5 stars Just ok
I thought this book was rather pricy for such a short book. Each page contains only 1 sentance and the art work was just ok. It didn't capture mychilds attention at all. The idea was good but the story lacked any climax. It was nothing to get excited about. The only high point in this book wasthe price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Keeps the interest of the Children!
This book was read in my class, by me to 4 and 5 year olds. They liked the large size and colorful pictures. When the book is over, just flip it over and find out what the moon sees. Two books in one! A great deal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this sweet little story!
I've been reading this book to my daughter for years (she's 4 now). It's a simple story, beautifully illustrated that touches on shyness, friendship and helping others.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Lovely Story.
Our 22 month old daughter loved the book the moment we read it. This is a wonderful story about a rabbit offering to help a bird hide away from the rain and becoming a good friend. We re-read it 5 times in the first sitting and this book continues to be a staple bedtime read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will you be my friend: A Bunny and a Bird Story.
This is a darling story of how a bunny and bird become friends. The pictures are soft and look like water colors.I have read this book to my preschool children (4-5 year olds) and they loved it!It is a great storyto introduce spring, or reinforce friendship and helping. It is a wonderfulstory and I recommed it highly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Christmas Book For The Very Young
No offense to the reviewer disappointed that this is not a "historical teaching tool", but this book is not intended to be that! Nancy Tafuri is one of the most gifted picture book authors for the very young, and she has used her talents here to make the Nativity story accessible to the very youngest readers. The gentle text and expressive pictures draw young children into the stable along with the animals to see the newborn baby, and to greet him. 4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
I liked the idea of the book- the underdog/ shy donkey finding that he too had something to give the baby Jesus .I was hoping for a book that highlighted some aspects of the nativity- something that would reinforce what I am teaching my children about the birth of Christ. I nice book but not an historical teaching tool. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Nancy Tafuri's Follow Me
Follow Me is the first of Nancy Tafuri's books that I had come across, and it is so delightful I have bought it for every new baby I know.Painted in a lush water-color style, the story of a new friendship between a baby sealion and baby crab is told solely through pictures. The pictures are vividand involved, leaving much room for improvisation on the part of the readerbut leading the child through a clear progression of events. An absolutelybeautiful book! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must for toddlers
This book was given to my daughter for her first birthday in the paperback form. It quickly became her favorite and she even took it to bed some nights! She really liked the large amount of pictures, simple plot, and simple short sentences - it kept her attention span. Furthermore, the story really won her over when my husband or I would make the animal sounds. At the end, all the animals in the story were pictured together and we made a game of identifying each animal by having her point to the correct animal when we named it. Eventually, the cover came off the book from being well loved and it was finally lost at day care for show-n-tell. I just ordered a new copy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Charming story for pre-schoolers & kindergarteners

5-0 out of 5 stars A Comforting Story for Ducks and Kids
Nancy Tafuri's reassuring mother duck is the heart of this sweet and gentle book for infants and toddlers.Mama ducksurrounded All her little ducklings surround her as they being their short pond journey, save for one stray duckling about whom the story revolves. In the first two scenes, the mom gazes at them and at the us with the same reassuring pose, her head bent to the right crossing her body, and her beak suggesting a friendly smile. Her large tawny and white feathers contrast with the downy backs of the chicks, their golden undersides skimming the turquoise pond.
4-0 out of 5 stars great for little nature loves
Bedtime is near for all of Mama Ducks little ducklings. She rounds them up and tries to lead them all home. One little duck lags behind and starts to say goodnight to his animal friends on the pond. Before long he finds himself alone.Everyone seems to have gone home for the night.A wise turtle has been watching the duck on the adventure and gives him a ride on his back all the way home.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tis a gift to be simple
I don't know if you're familiar with the New York Public Library's, "100 Picture Books Everyone Should Know" list or not.I'll assume not.Every year the system revamps those picture books that it feels are necessary additions to your three-year-old's literary canon. Most of these make a lot of sense.Books like "Where the Wild Things Are", "Goodnight Moon", and "Click Clack Moo" are American staples. Then you get to some of the more questionable choices.I've little doubt that I would never have discovered "Spots, Feathers, and Curly Tails", had it not appeared on this list.I'll mention that the idea that this is a book every child "should" know is questionable at best.Still, it's a nice and very basic book covering farm animal body parts in a straightforward manner.Your small children will have a hard time resisting the clear pictures, matter-of-fact writing, and baby animals.Your large adults may feel the same way.
