4-0 out of 5 stars A fun book with lots of textures!
My daughter loves looking at this bright, colorful book.I read it to her and she has lots of fun touching the different textures (there's one for every teddy that is shown).By reading books in Spanish we work on her bilingualism. It is sturdy enough for her little hands to handle without trouble.I recommend this book and the others on this series to anyone with a Spanish speaking toddler. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great introduction for adults and children
This is a great introduction to paper airplanes for the novice. Themodels range in complexity from easy to difficult, providing a challenge for both kids and adults. Best of all is a brief comparison of each model with specific models of actual airplanes, and a brief primer on flight principles. Taken together, this book is a great lesson in aviation, as well as a lot of fun.

4-0 out of 5 stars One of our favorite lift-the-flap books
My daughter loves the Corduroy books and we have to read them over and over again. Her favorite, however, is the Halloween story.

5-0 out of 5 stars My two-year-old LOVES this book!
We gave this to my daughter for Easter when she was almost two, and she LOVES it.We read it at least three times a day.The story is really cute with great phrasing, and my daughter loves finding the Easter Bunny and the robin on each page. The illustrations spark conversations about other things (she sees the lilacs on the page and then we talk about when we smelled the lilacs on our walk, etc.).She especially loves lifting the flaps. They're not the most durable--we have taped many of them back on--but we still love the book. It's really helped her vocabulary, too.She loves to talk about the baby animals and what sounds they make, etc.I will admit--this is not the Corduroy I grew up with. The story has nothing to do with the original Corduroy, so don't buy this book if you think you'll be sharing the Corduroy of your childhood with your kids. However, if you buy it knowing it has nothing to do with the original Corduroy, I think you'll be very pleased.MY DAUGHTER LOVES IT!I also recommend the Christmas and Halloween Corduroy books, too. They're all huge hits at our house!

5-0 out of 5 stars Easter Peek-a-Boo with Corduroy and His Friends
The book is based on the Corduroy character created by Don Freeman. The "bear's share" of the royalties go to the Don and Lydia Freeman Research Fund to support psychological research concerning children affected by cancer.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pocket Flyers Paper Airplane Book
Excellant book for middle school students to learn how to make paper airplane designs.

4-0 out of 5 stars 1/3 directions2/3 paper
The description of this book was not clear to me when I bought it. (I am an origami person, not really an airplane person.) There are directions for 12 airplanes and (about) 6 pages of paper for each plane. The pages are marked with fold lines and numbers. They are printed with bright, vivid, interesting designs on both sides of the paper. With multiple pages for each plane, this would be a great book for sharing with several kids (or adults) all making planes together. The only reason I subtracted one star is that after all the preprinted paper is used up, the instructions are mostly useless. The instructions are like "fold on line 4" which is only useful if you have the preprinted paper.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect gift idea
I gave this book to both my father and brother and they loved it.We have contest to see who can throw the planes the furthest. It was a good book to bring the family together. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Glamorous Movie Stars of the Sixties
Some of the most popular movie stars of our age are featured in this book, so I'm sure it would appeal to many people. The likenesses are excellent, with Jane Fonda, Joanne Woodward, Kim Novak and Anne Bancroft standing out.
5-0 out of 5 stars BARBRA STREISAND DOLL RULES!
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK.THE BARBRA STREISAND DOLL WITH OUTFITS FROM FUNNY GIRL, HELLO DOLLY, AND ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER PROVES TO BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF A FINE TRIBUTE TO EIGHT ACTRESSES.A WELL THOUGHT OUT TRIBUTE TO WHO WAS WHO IN 1960'S FILMS.

4-0 out of 5 stars Glamorous Movie Stars
I received Glamorous Stars of the 1960's for my birthday and am very pleased with the book. The dolls are very well drawn and actually do justice to the actresses portrayed. The costumes are perfect in every detail, down to the grain of the fabric.Included are Jane Fonda and her red dress from Cat Ballou, Barbra Streisand with her dresse from Funny Girl and the gorgeous golden gown from Hello Dolly, Natalie Wood and her Maria dress from West Side Story, Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Workery, and Julie Andrews as Maria in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. My only problem with this work is the actresses chosen and those left out.I also thought some of the wrong outfits were used, like putting a costume from a relatively unknown movie in there instead of one from a more popular movie.Over all, though, I think Tom Tierney did a great job on Glamorous Movie Stars of the 1960's. ... My six year old grandson loves this book. He is a beginning reader and at that stage where words are opeinig up a whole new world for him. 5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended for adult readers
Though Dollmakers And Their Stories: Women Who Changed The World Of Play by Krystyna Poray Goddu was written for a younger readership and can appeal from middle school grades on up, Dollmakers And Their Stories is reviewed here and strongly recommended for adult readers for its fine applicability to anyone of any ages who is just beginning to collect dolls. Girls have played with dolls since ancient times and the dolls have changed over the centuries: selected stories of courageous dollmakers who produced Barbie, Madame Alexander collectibles, the Sasha line and more provide wonderful stories of strong entrepreneurs and feminists who displayed both business and political skills in producing dolls in times when women didn't ordinarily work outside the home or the family farm.

1-0 out of 5 stars Accident waiting to happen
I bought this book thinking how cool it would be for an 8-year-old nephew. But I am blown away by the number of ways a kid could get hurt or even killed by following the advice in this book. After a very brief and largely useless "safety first" warning, the author goes on to suggest such things as snow forts that use car hoods and other heavy objects as the roof -- with snow packed on top, no less. If the kid isn't crushed or suffocated in his nifty new fort, he probably will die of lock-jaw from the cut he gets on the rusty edge of the car hood -- or from the old windows that the author suggests are the perfect thing for lean-to forts. Does this guy live next to a junk yard? There are several cool ideas in the book, but none that a kid probably couldn't come up with on his own -- especially if mom and dad say, "Yeah, go ahead. Anything and everything you can find to drag into the backyard is ok with us." Several of the tee-pee/wigwam forts are just fine if a kid is in the woods with lots of deadfall. Otherwise, the environment is going to take a hit -- as are the $180 trees that the neighbors just planted last spring. Which is nothing compared to the hospital bill you'll have for the 19 stitches required to close up the gash from the suggested use of a scythe or weed cutter to "gather handfuls of grass or hay no shorter than 15 inches." Send 'em over to my yard; my lawn needs mowing. Seriously, folks. This book should be recalled.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book your kids will go back to time and time again.
As a mother of three and a a daycare provider I highly recommend this "get up and build" book. The ideas for fort building will spark your childs imagination and they'll go back time and again to look forideas for indoor and outdoor forts. This book can save a mom on a snowday- as long as you don't mind what will be created!

3-0 out of 5 stars The shoes are all wrong!
Don't get me wrong--I'm a huge fan of Tierney's paper dolls and own more sets of them than I can count. I very eagerly waited for the Irish Dancer set to be published, as I was Irish dancing myself at the time, but unfortunately I was a little disappointed. Tierney's dolls are usually so carefully researched, but in these, he seems to have no understanding of what Irish dancing shoes look like. The hard shoes look like none I have ever seen before--they appear to be a slip-on type with no toe tap, laces, or ankle strap at all. The ghillies look more realistic, but there's not a poodle sock in sight. 3-0 out of 5 stars Nice for girl entering Irish dance.
This paper doll book includes 1 doll and 8 costumes. They are non-perforated cut-outs. The doll is large, nearly 12", which surprised me, because most Tierney paper dolls are drawn to a smaller scale. The costumes are pretty but no history of them is given. ... Read more
