5-0 out of 5 stars Teacher's Grade: A-
I love reading this book aloud to my 2nd grade students. There is abundant humor, a lot of action, and excellent dialogue. The kids especially love the disgusting giant with flatulence issues, and the fire-breathing dragon.
3-0 out of 5 stars You would think it was the authors fifth not first......
You knew this was the authors first book, but you felt far into the story while reading....which made it good...I would like to read more books by this author.

3-0 out of 5 stars The start of an empire
Finally Lane Smithh and Jim Szcieska have found their niche. These(now eleven?) stories are about to become a series on either Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. And this is the book that started it all.Alas.

Editorial Review

A delightful children's story about Ancient Egypt and time travel. In the tradition of all books by Scieszka and Smith, although it is perfect for ages 6-10, adults will get a smile too from the offbeat humor and weird predicaments in which the Time Warp Trio findthemselves. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Egypt...... in time warp land
Time-traveling is not as cool as you think. Being mummified, being trapped in a secret room and having your friend almost eaten by a crocodile is not cool. But what is cool is being treated as a royal guest in Thutmose III's palace, sailing in his boat and teaching him basketball. So, if you like things that are cool and not, you should read this hilariously funny book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Time Warp Trio Tut Tut
The book was about three boys and a girl who go to Egypt through a book that one of the boys uncles gave him. They have to travel through Egypt and find the book to get back home and meet a little challenge along the way named Hatsnat. I liked this book because we had just learned about Egypt so that made it better to understand.

The Time Warp Trio:
2-0 out of 5 stars Bad Language for Kids 9-12?
It's one thing to name a character "Fulluvit." Get it?
1-0 out of 5 stars Inappropriate Language for a Children's Book
The author of this book seems to have thought it was funny to include a character named "Bullshik" in the story (no, that's not a typo, it is really B-U-L-L-S-H-I-K).In case you think this was inadvertent, Bullshik's co-star is named Fulluvit, which makes it clear that a pun was intended - a pun with coarse language completely inappropriate for any child.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor langauge and inappropriate humor
I was very shocked when I read this book to find that so many people deem these appropriate for children. They do have some information for the kids to learn from (the reason I chose them originally) but the way the children talk and act is terrible!I had only thumbed through one and chose it from the library from my son, then I let him read the rest of the series and suddenly had him calling names and being disrespectful and LAUGHING about it!
4-0 out of 5 stars A little too much like magic tree house
These books are really nice, but my daughter has already read a bunch of the magic tree house books and these are just too much like them.. she thinks these are funnier but the idea has no sparkle for her any more.. but I would recommend these books if you haven't started reading the tree house series..

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Do the Time Warp Again
I was going through some old books the other day when I happened upon my "Time Warp Trio" collection. What began as thumbing through "Knights of the Kitchen Table" ended with my reading all four of the stories right then and there. They were terriffic when I was little and they are terriffic now. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars THE MOST FANTASTIC BOOK YOU'LL EVER READ!!!!!!
It all starts out with someone I really would call a "Not so Jolly Roger."They have pistols, daggars and lots of cool weapons in this book. (Violent). Something always goes wrong-wich always happens in books-of course.Get this book or I'll be "The not so Jolly Roger."

5-0 out of 5 stars The not so Jolly Roger
I liked The not so Jolly Roger becuase it was a mystery and I love myseries. My favorite part was when Fred was reading a book and Fred got sucked into one of the pages. The not so Jolly roger could be better by taking out the part when a pirate shoots his mates after they got done buring the treasure they found. Iread the story becuase in the first book of the series, it was really interesting,so it made me think The not so Jolly Roger was going to be interesting.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Time Traveling

5-0 out of 5 stars My Review of Your Mother was a Neanderthal
I think this book should be rated 5 stars because it's really funny and has a lot of smart remarks. In the story Sam Joe and Fred, in other words the time warp trio travel to the time 40,000 BC.There they meet cavemen and cave women. The problem is that they have to find the magic book to get back to their own time. There they met three cavegirls who took them up to meet their leader Ma.Then Ma locked them up a cave and that's when thier problems started. But they finally escaped by running away when Ma opened the gate. After awhile they met cavemen and their leader Ug.Then Ug showed them maggot infested meat. When Sam Joe and Fred tried to get out of the smelly hole in the ground Ug pulled them down and said no caw. That's when they saw a sabre tooth tiger and they came up with an idea. They dressed like a really ugly monster and scared the tiger off. Then they went back to the cave and found the book. They used the book to go back home.
4-0 out of 5 stars Mostly entertaining
Overall, this was a pretty good book, but it doesn't match Knights of the Kitchen Table and Sam Samurie for Time Warp Trio fun. While it was entertaining to watch them run from the girls, hide from the sabertooth, etc., it was hard to believe that they were in any danger. The dialogue was often witty, but the plot a little thin which took away from the adventure. If you've read the other Time Warp Trio books, then you should read this one, but if you've never enjoyed the adventures of Fred, Sam and Joe you should try one of the better ones first.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
My son is not reading at this level yet (7 years old) so I read it to him. It's easy and a lot of fun to read. I read to him, at most, 2 chapters a night (chapters are short) and he'd beg me to keep reading! I could get him to finish his homework and get ready for bed quickly if I reminded him about reading "Sam Samurai". 3-0 out of 5 stars In the year 2095...
The situation is a familiar one to children's librarians nationwide.A wide-eyed youngster walks in, clutching the latest "Captain Underpants" edition to its chest. The child has read through every Dav Pilkey book out there and the parent is desperate to keep them reading something... anything! So what do you hand a child that has gorged his or herself on a steady diet of fart and poop jokes?Jon Scieszka to the rescue. As an author, Scieszka has attempted to gets boys to read as much as possible.Checked out www.guysread.com if you don't believe me.Now none of this is to say that "Captain Underpants" is strictly a guys book.Of course it isn't.But boys do make up the majority of the readers and finding them additional material is nigh unto impossible sometimes. That's why I love "The Time Warp Trio".No, they're not too smart. No, they won't make your child an instant Honor Student (not on purpose, anyway). These are just books that slip in tiny bits of factual information along with interesting plots and storylines that are fun.And "2095" is just one of the many.
