One of the best children's books ever!
This book is one that we had checked out at the library and we had to buy it! It is funny, original and educational all at the same time! A must for a little boy's library! Entertaining for parents, too!

Who would have thunk it?
I recently purchased this book for my 3 1/2 year old daughter as she is fascinated with big trucks and construction equipment.This has become one of her favorite books and she requests it read to her at least a couple of times a day.She also enjoys the sister book "I'm Dirty".

The Pages of This Book go Flip and Turn
Timing is everything to read this book, which is really a song. Although the notes are at the end to hint how the words should be read, without hearing it sung first and reading it out loud in a dull monotonous fashion a toddler may look at the reader as if to ask "Why bother?" Then I heard it on one of the CDs and now the words flow beautifully and make me read and read, read and read, all through the night.
A great book for toddler
I bought this when my daughter was 13 months, and after 3 months she still loves this book.So many different people and things to watch, she won't flip the page before I finish the lyrics on that page.

Good motivator for an unmotivated reader
Nora Gaydos' series 'Now I'm Reading' has really helped our unmotivated reader get going with reading.
Great for the beginning reader
My child will be in 1st grade this year and this is our third set of reading books by Nora Gaydos.The size of the books is very kid-friendly and the amount on each page is just what the early reader can handle. He feels like he is making progress and it is not too hard so we don't encounter too much frustration which is common with his other books.

Ease into reading the fun way!
I cannot say enough good things about the "Now I'm Reading" series by Nora Gaydos.Starting with the 2 level one books and going through to the level four pack you have 50 books that are just right for your beginning reader.Each book is 10 pages, meaning that your child has 500 pages of simple yet fun, attractive, entertaining, and educational learning at their fingertips.Each book focuses on a different sound, pattern, or skill and each level builds on the last.There is a lot of repetition of the words and sounds in the text which helps build word and sound recognition.My son learned to read with these books when he had just turned 4 and continues to love them now as he nears 5.They have given him a great base which he is easily applying to all kinds of other books.He loves these books because they are small, funny, easy to get through in one sitting, and enjoyable time after time.Sometimes he is distracted from the reading due to the very cute pictures, but one thing is certain, he will want to read them again and again.Love of reading and learning are definitely things that these books promote!What more could a parent want? ... Popular wtih my under 5 year olds
I am not quite sure what is most appealing to my children, the rhymes or the ridiculously whimsical illustrations - they love the Zike-bike and the zumblezay the best. My 2 year old goes around singing the word 'Zumblezay'over and over so just the sound of it is obviously appealing.
loved it and can't get enough
I remember being very young and asking my mother to read this to me over and over. She got so tired of reading it to me, but I have never tired of the book. I purchased it for my nephew and look forward to reading it to kids of my own some day soon.

One of my daycare kids favorite
I love to read my daycare kids books with rhythm and rhyme. This book is terrific and adorable and never seems to get old no matter how many times I read it. We giggle through the whole thing. FUN FUN read.

Great idea but needs monitoring with younger kids
The quality of the book itself is great - sturdy, thick, laminated pages with high quality graphics and color.The stickers are reusable.However, while they are thicker than just a regular sticker, they are made of paper and still tear if pulled off at the wrong angle.

Whirligig by Paul Fleischman is about Brent a high school senior who is new to town he was at a party trying to gain acceptance from the popular kids especially Brianna the girl he liked. When he tried to talk to her but she just rejected him. Drunk and angry he drove off in attempt to commit suicide by crashing his car into on coming traffic but he fails instead he kills a girl named Lea. Tormented by this tragic incident all he can think about is what he has done. When he goes to court to face trial Lea's mother wants to have a meeting with him. At the meeting Lea's mother asks Brent to make whirligigs that look like Lea in the four corners of The United States. On this journey Brent makes these whirligigs and affects many people without even meeting them which is karass. This book shows the way each person is connected and how you can affect people, Brent affected many people with his creations like a violinist and a holocaust surviver. On his trip he has time to think about what he has done and how he can find himself. At the beginning he has troble with getting over the fact that he killed someone so he keeps to himself and doesn't talk to anyone. But once he realizes that its in the past and he need to get he job done which is building the whirligigs he feels better. When he makes the whirligigs he feels like that he matters and that he is making a difference. He tries to make them look like Lea in remembrance of her. His whirligig creations are very creative and he spends a lot of time thinking about them and making them. This book is difficult to understand from the beginning because of the different settings in each chapter but once the book comes to a close it brings it all together. ... Read more

Moving, motivating, and inspirational
If you are looking for an example of courage to follow, this is it. I can think of no better account of what a single human spirit is capable of.

Good to read this story again after so many years.
I first read Robin Lee Graham's account as it was printed in installments in National Geographic at the time of his voyage more than three decades ago. I was a few years younger than he, and fascinated by the narrative and photos of his exploits.
Not bad
Any book that someone writes about sailing around the world can't be bad. I thought it was a pretty good story but not the best. Later in his life he moves to the middle of the North American continent & is nowhere near the ocean. I think he doesn't love the ocean like most other circumnavigator's. That said it is still an incredible journey for someone so young to undertake. A better book is Maiden Voyage, by Tania Aebi.

A Thought of Trains
Vivid. Detailed. Exploded drawings. And some kind of specialized inside knowledge of a device that transports us. What more could you ask for?

A good read for me and my just-turned-3-year-old
This book has a cute, fun story with good illustrations like the other Scarry titles I've seen.I don't know how much my daughter is learning from it, except that Mr. Frumble is one unlucky guy.I haven't gotten tired of reading it, as happens sometimes, and that's as important as anything in the long run.It takes me 5-10 minutes to read, and I don't get into some of the outside-the-story details which I think would only distract my daughter from the story at this age.

Another Triumph for the Thomas Series
The illustrations are beautiful.The story, as in other Thomas adventures, takes the flaws of human nature, and with a good natured spirit, turns them into benefits for everyone.

A Very Cute Story
This book is a great introduction to the Thomas series.Each of the trains are introduced in the beginning, and even indicate their size.Thomas and his friends endure a strong thunderstorm which knocks over a tree onto the station house.When it has to be repaired, Gordon is put in charge of the repairs and sends James off for the supplies.Those bad freight cars are at it again and knock James off the rails and into the mud, while they run off and get into trouble.Thomas goes out to look for his friend and finds Henry and Percy in trouble as well.Thomas gets the naughty cars in line and they all return home for a party.It's a very nice book, easy to read, and very enjoyable for all train lovers.It's one of the most requested books in our house and it definitely holds the attention of toddlers.A great find.

A Really Useful Read-to-Me Book
My daughters, ages 4.5 and 2.5 years old, really enjoyed this book.Cheerfully illustrated with text enclosed in easy-to-read boxes, this book is a must-read for new and seasoned Thomas fans. When the station roof is damaged during a storm, everyone pitches in to repair it.Everyone is useful! As a parent, I thought this book was ?useful? because: (1) it is a good introduction to readers who are not as familiar with Thomas and his friends, (2) children like my 2.5-year-old can identify with Henry the Green Engine?s fear of thunderstorms, (3) readers can cheer Thomas on as he searches for his missing friends Henry, Percy, and James, (4) parents can engage their children by asking questions, such as ?What was James supposed to fetch again?? Still a Fan
I still love this book.Teaches the balance between progress and tradition.Hard work, good attitude, and ingenuity pay off in the end.Had to explain what furnace was (we live in Miami), but all my kids (8, 6, & 4) enjoyed it.

WVU Fans have to buy
My husband and his family are huge WVU fans so of course I had to get this book.The pages are beautiful.The artwork looks like a quilt.
A Must for any Mountaineer!
This adaptation of John Denver's beloved song is a must for any family who has ties to West Virginia.The illustrations are beautiful and detailed, and the CD is a fun bonus.(Our son likes to have the CD playing as he follows along in the book.)Everyone loves "Country Roads," but West Virginians especially enjoy this, our adopted state anthem.A great way to introduce the song to the next generation.

Worth Spending Money
Hi!!The book is wonderful for beginers.It helps you get the basic right.Almost all aspect are covered so that you can start sketching cars on your own like side view,3d view.Gives detail information for drawing tyres.This book has helped me a lot and I would recommend this book to everyone without any hesitation.

Never knew I could draw
I bought this book for myself as a 37th B-day gift and realized after all those years.... I can draw!!! : ) My wife swears I've taken art before but I haven't. After drawing 2 cars I used the techniques to draw a car out of another book and it looks good. I am my toughest critic and I like what I see. I bought 2 other books which cost more and they don't teach you half as much as what you learn with this book. I wish someone had given me this for my 9th B-day. Good luck.

Great book for GRANDMAS.
I purchased this book for my grandson, age 20 months, who LOVES trucks.He'll pick this up all by himself and look at all the pages. Nice digital photos of all sorts of trucks, with all their names.A must-have.

My Son Loves It!
I bought this for my 18 month old son.I can not tell you how much he loves it.He is constantly dragging it over to me saying "car, car,vroom, vroom"It is too funny.We have had it for a couple of months already and he has never tired of it.I would highly recommend it!PS..My son is pretty strong (and head strong!) so I can tell you that it holds up under any kind of play

It's okay
My son loved it, of course, as he loves anything Thomas but it's a little boring.We have a full-sized lift-the-flaps book about Thomas which has many trains and lines up perfectly with the pictures under the flaps.That's not the case with this book.The story is short and the pictures in this book just aren't very interesting.

Bad Flaps
Great little book except the pictures under the flaps are totally off.This makes it frustrating for little ones to know what they are looking at.Usually Thomas the tank engine stuff is much better quality.

Great Read Aloud for my 4 year olds
This is the first book I have read by this author and it is absolutely amazing. Done in rhyme, a child describes in perfect detail what the construction would be for his fine automobile.

Grandson loves it!
