my 2.5 yr old LOVES this book
we have this title and Terrific Trains by the same authors.My toddler cant get enough of either one.I am looking today to get all the books in this "series"

We Love it
WE got this out of the library and my 21/2 year old loves it. He began naming all the machines after only having it read to him a few times.He saw it in the library again and began asking for. I love the rhymes. We are buying a copy!!!!

Tremendous Tractors tell about all of the jobs that a tractor can do.We learn that it is used to plow fields, cuts grass, bales hay and lots more. The famers in ths book are all colorful animals!Read more

The history of these young boys; young flies:
This is a book back in history. The biography of two males come to me for the coolest time for kids! So, if you are a young child, you may like to read a biography two males. Gruateened you will love it!!

Fun and loaded with facts!
This book is really good.I like the way the author provides information about Orville and Wilbur individually, instead of just lumping them together as "the Wright brothers."I also liked reading about their childhood, how they got interested in flying, and how they developed their airplane.

Excellent Educationl Text
I'm a teacher and I find the Eyewitness books highly educational.I like the way the concepts are presented in a form without backgrounds.This gives clear facts to the reader without over taxing the attention span.The books are highly informative, presenting difficult concepts in comprehendable chunks that stimulate interest.I have almost the whole collection for my own children and they LOVE them!

Simple book with nice pictures
Thomas is our 2-yr old son's favorite thing right now so we got him a new Thomas book."Wave Hello to Thomas" is a very simple book with nice pictures and fun flaps.After just a few weeks he has memorized the book and will sit happily "reading" and lifting the flaps.He even takes the book to bed with him.

Fantastic Tractor Book!
My son received this book for Christmas and I just cannot thank that person enough for it.He just loves this book!The horn the steering wheel has is just so neat and I hear that thing going at the strangest times too (like at 3:00 a.m. when he rolls over on it in bed...).It has gone many, many places and my son just cannot get enough of it.It has all the brands too - Deere, Farmall, harvester, etc. and explains how the tractors work the fields and take the products to market.Great, great book - don't hesitate on this one!

Fantastic!!!!
I have a 7 year old and this was right up his alley!He could not wait to get to the next chapter and I would always stop at a cliffhanger so that by the next night, he could not wait to get ready for bed so he could read more!This book is full of wonderful comedy for a 7 year old!At times, my son was laughing so hard (as was I) that I would have to stop reading until we could get ourselves together!I totally recommend this to anyone who is trying to get their child to read more chapter books and get away from the picture books with short sentences!

Navy (though I'd say they're more grey) seals
Long before illustrator G. Brian Karas captured the world's attention with his not-particularly-groundbreaking-but-still-interesting, "Muncha Muncha Muncha" he helped author Lenny Hort create a sweet little selection entitled, "The Seals On the Bus".Taking silliness to a whole new level, "Seals" replaces those tired old standby lines found in the song, "The Wheels On the Bus" and replaces them with a convoluted carnival of copious critters.It's silly, frenetic, and thoroughly enjoyable to the kiddies.
The perfect first book
I started reading to my son Owen when he was just a few months old, and this charming book was one of the first ones he reacted to. Now at 19 months, it's still his favorite. Colorful pictures, repetitive text, and the opportunity to use puppet-style hand gestures while you read make this a great interactive story for very young children. This book has earned its place, at least on our bookshelf, alongside classics like Bill Martin/Eric Carle's "Brown Bear, Brown Bear..."

Good story, but lacking in comparison
Really, I wish I would have bought the original.Strangely enough we had the original version borrowed from the library in the house when this book arrived.Even my 2 1/2 year old daughter prefers the original.It is so much better.The details are more vivid.The language more interesting.This version isn't bad; it just isn't AS good.

Why abridge a classic?
Just buy the REAL Little Engine That Could with its beautiful poetic lines. Skip the easy-to-read version. Little kids have a greater appreciation for real books than some people give them credit for.

Caldecott Committee, take note
Laura Ljungkvist is a wonderful author/illustrator, and she has outdone herself with her third book, Follow the Line.I highly recommend that all parents include this book in their home libraries. I always buy books for children's occasions, and this is the book I keep on hand to give any child because it appeals to all.The narrative follows in the tradition of Margaret Wise Brown's classics.The words are simple and elicit conversation between child and reader.The pictures are graphic, simple and bright, and they captivate even the youngest children.Older children enjoy "following the line".With imaginative and innovative illustration, this book is a technical feat.Follow the Line will introduce early readers to the concept of following the stories left to right, through the pages, to the end.Children will gain pre-reading skills and not even be aware of it.Buy this book, enjoy this book, and give this book.

Whither shall I follow follow follow, whither shall I follow follow thee?
Is it bad that the first thing I thought when I picked up this title was, "Oh! An Etch-a-Sketch book".I can be forgiven for this.After all, when a book's gimmick is identical to that of a beloved childhood toy, you're automatically going to associate the two together.And, I might add, to the book's advantage.If everyone that picks up, "Follow the Line" gets the same warm fuzzy feeling they get when they think of playing with their Etch-a-Sketches, it'll be justly deserved.This is a rather amusing little title with an equally amusing premise that's bound to be read over and over again by a certain segment of the child population.

The big book of cars rocks!
Great book. I'm glad I bought it. No regrets!

Have A Kid Who LikesCars?
Then this is an excellent choice. I'm a children's librarian and this book always goes out. Big glossy pictures, fold out pages and interesting facts on what the car does (for instance, the dodge viper has an engine 6 times the size of a small family car, has special handles on the door that you have to poke at in order to open it, and a front spoiler that prevents air from getting under the car at high speeds and lifting it up. Did you know that the new vw bug has a warranty that says the doors will not rust for 12 years, and that flower vases are standard issue?) Great early reader for car-obsessed boys!
My almost 5 year old son is learning to read rapidly, but there are so few books which he enjoys AND can read well. He was highly motivated to read Wheels, as he adores vehicles of all kinds. The format is very simple (1-2 short sentences per page)and includes plenty of long and short vowel words, as well as "oo" sounds and "igh" sounds. Hardly any words with 2 syllables.

A reading teacher
This book is perfect for the child who is learning their letters and wants to READ. The word WHEELS is on every page. After reading this book a few times, your child will be able to pick the word WHEELS out. Great fun!Great confidence builder! Great sing-song wording!

A lively fast paced fun read for short attention spans
I checked this book out at the library and my two year old has me read it to him at least 5 times ina row before he will let me stop.This is the first book he has shown an interest in other than ripping the pages on Green Eggs and Ham.The illustrations are bright and colorful, showing things that little ones are interested in, with only short phrases that make the pace fast and keep those pages turning.I would recommend this book to anyone who has a child fascinated with moving vehicles. ... Nice Illustrations!
My one year olds like to flip through this book. They love trucks, so anything with the theme works for them. Warning: if you are going to read this one aloud, you'll have to make up the story - no text.

Picture Book
I was able to use this book for a "Transportation" unit used in our Reading Program.It's full of colorful pictures and encourages children to come up with imaginative sentences and/or phrases.It helps students who are not able to read as well let you know what is going on in each picture.It helps with their visual comprehension and re-telling of stories without reading.This is a book that is great for "bilingual" students as well.It helps with their limited English and repeats words to aid in their visual literacy.

LOVE IT!!
Bought this for my son when he was 16mos old and he loved it. He still has to read it over and over. It's one book I recite to him in the store and when we come home he runs to his room for it.

My son loves this book.By the way, Renee, please look at a dictionary, according to Webster the second meaning of funnel is: a stack or flue for the escape of smoke or for ventilation (as on a ship)

Fiona my son has had this book for a little over a year now.He currently is 27 months and HE KNOWS that the smoke stack, exhaust stack is NOT a funnel.He may know that because we farm and he knows almost every part of a tractor, but for future printed illustrations, you may want to think about changing that word.A funnel is used for adding oil and liquids etc...I'm sorry this may be petty, but I have wanted to bring it to your attention for quite some time.Otherwise a very good, cute book that is Great for sensory issues. ... An outstanding book
This book is excellent.My 3 1/2 year old grandson love it.He carries it around with him. We first borrowed it from the Library, but he couldnt bear to part with it so when all of my extensions had run out, I looked for a place to buy it for him.
My son won't put it down!!
This book goes everywhere with my 23 month old.He sleeps with it, goes to daycare with it, and it's even traveled on a plane to California with us clutched in his hands.The book is a bit beat up, so I'm back to buy another one or two to make him happy.

So good that we're on our second book!
My now 2-year old son was 17 months when he first spotted this book at a garage sale. It turned out to be quite possibly the best $1.50 ever spent on him. Over the past six months he has memorized all of the vehicles as well as managed to rip out out 75% of the book. Not that he seems to care -- though the majority of pictures were ripped out, it remained his favorite book. I finally bought him another book, a new one, to start fresh. Worth every penny.

Great truck lover book
This book is great for any boy who loves trucks. The pictures are great for little ones to look at, and all the info will be great as he gets older.

Must have for little boys
I have a three year old boy. We have owned this book since he was 18 months when we found it in a consignment store.Every page is taped down the center to help it get through the excitement he feels when looking at the working trucks.It has a fantastic collection of working trucks, i.e. excavators, dump trucks, road equipment; as well as every other kind of vehicle. His friends are thrilled each time they look through it and I fear for the books pages and am beginning to think we may need a second copy. A surprisingly captivating book
This book was a gift and I originally thought that it was too detailed to be interesting to my 22-month-old son. However, it has a very calming quality and he insists on it every night before bedtime. The adventures move along frequently enough to hold his interest, without being overly stimulating. And he can identify elements he likes from the drawings, such as the propeller, the wind sock, the hangar, and the car on the ground.
A great series that grows with your child
While the text may be lengthy for toddlers (I have a 3-1/2 year old who loves this book, borrowed from the library, that I'm buying him a copy), this is certainly a book that grows with the child. The engaging, simple pictures allow for much imaginative story telling (who ever said parents are supposed to read every word when the child isn't ready?), moving into reading more and more of the text as the child grows older. I trained for a private pilot license, and the details given are simple and factual; just the kind of real stuff that children interested in airplanes would want to know; it's stuff they absorb readily if the subject interests them. I'm glad to see these books back in circulation. The other books in Lois Lenski's series are great, too.
Not for toddlers
Amazon has this book listed as being appropriate for the "baby-preschool" level. That may be true for the illustration style, but the story is quite lengthy and detailed. My son is 3 1/2 and barely has the attention span to sit through this story, and he's an airplane fanatic.

Silver Packages
This was a beautiful story written and illustrated.It allows one to discover how people can reach into the hearts of so many with a simple act of kindness.It also reassures children that one does not have to have a lot to change the lives of another.And that dreams do come true.

A dear teacher friend recommended this book and said she couldn't read it to her class without crying! I thought I would be able to read it to my grandson without tearing up, but alas...he had to finish the last few pages! (Much to his delight!)It is such a gentle, tender story.Even when you KNOW what the outcome will be, you can't help but FEEL the emotions the writer conveys so well!
