5-0 out of 5 stars this titanic book is nice
I loved this because nice and i like this book5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for children
My 4 1/2 year old son loved this book. The facts were very interesting. He spends a lot of time looking at each picture and remembers the facts as I have read this book to him several times. Each time through it he findsdifferent things to keep him excited. I would say it's his favorite bookright now!

2-0 out of 5 stars Childen might like it
This book gives the most childish facts. I guess to a young child who only began his/her interest in Titanic might find this book as a good start, otherwise it is pointless buying this book, since it gives nothing new andgives inaccurate drawings. To a more interested person, I really would notrecomend this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting book of the week
The book SOS titanic was mostly about the pasengers. Some of the people on the ship did not about what was going on around them. Before they hit the ice burg the lady thinks it looked prety. As soon as they hit the ice burg and new they were sinking. They all began to scatter all ofer the top deck. I liked this book because the author really explans what people are doing. Like when he hits the ice burg the captainis reallyworied about the passengersand what happens to them to them. also they are in a big hurry to get the life boats. they alsoanounced that ladys and children first. Another thing I like is there are different carricters than in the movie . So Icouldent have watched the movie.

5-0 out of 5 stars SOS TITANIC
SOS Titanic is a great, quick read if you enjoy books about the Titanic. It was written by Eve Bunting. It gave me mixed emotions because I knew that the ship was going to sink, but I did not know which characters were going to die. I would give this book a five star rating. This is a great story about survival and a test to see who your true friens are.
1-0 out of 5 stars A good book to read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mailing May
This is a very cute book and it has a good story line. I liked the pictures because they look like they were really taken in 1914. These pictures are also bright and colorful and ful of emotion. May is also a very spunky little girl, so that makes it even more fun. And i especially like how they worded it. This story is about a girl named May who really wants to see her grandmother who lives 1000 miles away. But her father and mother can't afford it.But they see how dissapointed ahe is. So they decided to mail her. This adventure is a great book for all boys and girls. Over all i liked it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mailing May
I really liked the book Mailing because it was an interesting, funny, and cute little story. It was about a five year old girl who didn't have $1.55 for a ticket to go visit her grandma. SO instead they mailes her as a baby chick through the US Postal Service. Instead it only cost her $0.53 than the $1.55 it would cost to buy a ticket. The pictures in this book were fantastic, they showed al ot of action. THis was a true story.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mailing May - clever, creative, great pictures.
I love Ted Rand's pictures.I'm trying to make a collection of books with his art works, but there are many.Mailing May is one I hadn't read and was delighted.I saw Ted Rand at work during one of the workshops for Children's Writers of the Northwest. He's pleasant as well as talented.I would recommend this book to those who love little children's stories with substance as well as art work. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Driving with Amelia Bedlia can be a punny thing
Amelia Bedelia might never learn to not to take things literally, but then Mr. Rogers seems to keep forgetting what makes his housekeeper so unique, so he is not exactly showing a high learning curve either. In "Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia," things start off innocent enough. It is Amelia Bedelia's birthday and she is going to go visit her cousin Alcolu.Mr. Rogers offers to let her drive the family car, but Amelia Bedelia has not driven in years so he decides to see if her driving is as good as the picture on her drivers license.Of course, this turns out to be something of a mistake.4-0 out of 5 stars Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia
"Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia" is a story about a girl named Amelia Bedelia who wants to visit her cousin Alcolu so she can take a day off and rest on her birthday.Friends of hers, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers allow her to use their car to get to her cousin's house. But first Mr. Rogers takes Amelia out to make sure she still knows how to drive.Along the way, Amelia keeps misinterpreting Mr. Rogers's directions, like pushing on the horn of a cow instead of honking the car horn and misinterpreting a fork in the road as an actual kitchen utensil lying in the road.Soon their car gets a flat tire, but luckily a man in a towtruck happens to pass by and gives them a ride home where a party is waiting for Amelia.3-0 out of 5 stars Good Driving, Amelia Bedilia ~ Herman Parish
This book is one that shows how a lot of things can be muisunderstood. It explains how people can screw up a direction, or just what someone si trying to tell them.It also teaches that when you are drving or doing some other important task, you need to concentrate, and make sure you know what you are doing. This book is full of surprises about what happened to Amelia Bedilia when Mr. Rodgers took her driving.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book about facing the challenges of life!
They use the train to talk about chosing your track. My son got this from his kindergarten teacher, his understanding is that its about meeting new friends, which it is and so much more. Because the train is a metaphor for the journey thru life, I think this book can be appreciated by many ages. The pictures are geared towards little kids but certainly it has more subtle messages about how to deal with the "tunnels" in life and not looking back. This is a keeper!

5-0 out of 5 stars I Knew You Could!
This is a great book for high school or college grads!

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC - A MUST IN YOUR CHILDS COLLECTION
This book was a gift to my son from his preschool teacher this June.We LOVE it!When you read it you will too! Effortless rhyming --- It parallels life, and the many paths or "tracks" we all take. The good the bad, and all in between. The entire book is a wonderful metaphor for life,(without getting too deep) and will be a cherished book in our home.My son is only 3 1/2, but I look forward to him understanding the book more and more as he ages.A MUST have!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars We NEED to buy this!
We keep getting this book from the library and it's so informative - much more information about how trains work and such compared to Thomas books. Our 3 year old boy is a train fanatic and this book is even fun for ME to read to him because I learn right along with him.We study the pictures and he can point out the semaphores and he even takes what he has learned about how the train fills up with water to his toys. When he plays with his GeoTrax, he is using his imagination along WITH the factual things he has learned in this book. It's a must read - at LEAST from the library, but that just won't cut it for us, we need to purchase it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Have A 'Thomas' Fan?"The Little Train" Might Be a Good Book for Them!
My 4 year-old Thomas and Friends fan likes this little book which features Engineer Small and his black and shiny engine. While the book doesn't have the Thomas-and-Percy-like personalities which so engage small fry, it does have plenty of drawings of trains and a great deal more factual information than the Rev. Awdry series.
5-0 out of 5 stars Five stars for hardcover; four stars for board book.
This review covers both the board book (ISBN 037582264X; 32 pp.; c. 2002) and hardcover (ISBN 0375810714; 56 pp.; c. 2000) editions of *The Little Train* by Lois Lenski.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Book
My son has just turned two years old, and has recently been evaluated by Early Intervention for a possible speech delay.Ichecked this book out of the library since he is a real boys boy and loves CARS and trucks. Before this book however he had never said the word TRUCK, but now he says Truck (well....."Kuck" really) and it has become a favorite book of his.We have gotten him his own copy to cherish (it goes everywhere with...except the tub!) It was such a joy to hear him start to use new words and am crediting this book and Mr. Floca for inspiring him.I enjoy this book myself, it is a treat to have a book about trucks in which the illustrations are these lovely watercolor pictures as opposed to the more harsh illustrations usually in truck books.I have just one son but suspect that this book would be enjoyed by girls as well as boys and I really appreciate the fact that two of the five drivers are women!!THANK YOU MR. FLOCA!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars a gentle and rewarding book
This book is thoughtfully structured and illustrated. It is light on text but it unfolds a story nevertheless (and parents and children can add their own words and observations).Unlike some airport-themed books, it strives for recognizable accuracy. The illustrations are simple but not simplistic and cartoonish. If your child is a real truck connoisseur like mine, you will appreciate that the trucks themselves are faithfully represented and labeled, and their drivers look like real people (complete with their morning coffee and donuts).

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the young truck-enthusiast
I shared this book with a young friend, to watch his reaction as the story unfolds. It's supurb! The opening spread of a man and a boy hauling a heavy suitcase provided the first clue to what the "five drivers for fivetrucks" did every day. The drivers' teamwork, their varied genders andethnicity, and the care taken in getting the airplane serviced and ready tofly are all well illustrated. Youngsters who have flown or visited airportswill especially enjoy this book, and it would be a great addition tocarry-on baggage for parents of younger children. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars try another book
This is a minibook and fairly flimsy at that. Most pictures use 2 pages so you really don't get many different pictures. At $3.99 this is a bad deal.Especially since you can get "My First Truck board book" which is bigger for small hands, sturdier and has about 2 pictures per page (instead of 1/2 picture per page), more pages and is only $5.99.Don't waste your money on this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
My son is only 20 months old and just LOVES this book! The details in the drawings are so realistic. And it's great that they have both men and women working at construction sites!Too bad it doesn't come in hardcover, as this is a nightly read before bed and that has taken its toll on the paper pages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Details for an Insatiable Toddler
I bought this book for my son shortly after his second birthday almost six months ago, and we STILL read it almost every night.Construction equipment is a source of endless fascination for him, and this book has satisfied some of his need for details about what certain pieces of equipment do.He seems to like this book in particular because the drawings are realistic -- he doesn't like the cartoony-drawings in some other books because they don't look like the real trucks he sees in the world. He also seems to like the more sophisticated language in the book, and amazes friends and relations with tales about tree spades, foundations, concrete mixers and pumps, and "jumping" cranes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for boys & girls
We've had this book since my twins were 2 years old. They both love it.The illustrations are colorful while being realistic; they're actually *better* than photos, because the artist can juxtapose several different trucks in one picture, which would be hard to do with a posed photo.

My 15 month son is crazy about this book. We first found it at Horizons bookstore in Traverse City while waiting for a family member. My son wheeled the book around the store--keeping him busy for a half hour! Reading the book or pushing it around never fails to engage him--I'm purchasing a new copy now because he has used it a bit too much! 4-0 out of 5 stars still loves it a year later...
This is one of the few books my son still loves after reading for almost a year.I first showed it to my child when he was about 6 months and he liked it right away, now he's 18 months and he likes it even better whereas many other books have fallen to the wayside. The drawings are enjoyable to both the infant and toddler group. When he was young we focused on the animals and their noises, now we are focusing on the tractors and engines, and explaining where food comes from etc. It's a great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love Johnny Tractor and Friends
These are great books for my 3 year old. He loves all the flaps and does not get tired of hearing the tractor adventures. These books are written well. A great product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this one!
My two year old son just loves this book! The flaps and all of the bright colors and animals keep him completely entertained. I think it's a great value also. When I ordered the book I didn't realize how big was until it arrived. I would have expected to pay at least $14.99 for a book of this quality and size. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Made a reader of my Grandson
My three year old Grandson loves anything with wheels on it.He has never been interested when I try to get him to look at a book while I read it to him.Now he is bringing this book to me and asking me to read to him.He has decided books can be fun too.

5-0 out of 5 stars PERFECT!
My 4-year-old son is hugely into Monster Trucks and Monster Jam, so this book is a great pleaser for him. This is the perfect book for young ones who love anything with wheels on it (especially when they're big wheels).

3-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable
This book is very enjoyable with two to four year olds of our family;however, I was disappointed that Tonka was listed on every truck...and not real monster trucks that compete were highlighted....My fault I guess since I didn't realize it was a generic type book.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Wright Brothers
Freedman's interesting narrative of the Wright brothers portrays them as proper gentlemen who wore suits with bowties even while repairing bicycles in their shop, mechanical geniuses despite being high school dropouts, and totally dedicated to their dream of creating an aeroplane. The photographs in this book were taken by Wilbur and Orville Wright themselves. In addition to being aviators, they had a fascination with photography and converted a backyard shed for processing film. They knew that documenting their progress would be important for future generations.4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting
How They Invented the Airplane is probably the best Wright Brothers biography yet. It's written by my favorite author of the genre, Russell Freedman. (Lincoln: A Photobiography)5-0 out of 5 stars The Wright Brothers is probably the best book ever written
Wilbur Wright, the brother with visions, invented the airplane along with Orville Wright, the brother who loved to tinker.Wilbur once said, " My brother Orville and myself lived together, played together and, in fact thought together."Wilbur and Orville persevered in their struggle against Mother Nature, the public opinion, and failed flights and experiments to fulfill their dream of making a flying machine.
