4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable book for readers who love horse stories.
Twelve-year-old Polly Canfield lives on her father's horse training farm near Saratoga Springs, New York, in the year 1925. Polly has recently become attached to Pretty Lady, a Thoroughbred horse that is being boarded on the farm. Pretty Lady was once a promising race horse, but has become skittish and unreliable after being mistreated. Polly knows if Pretty Lady was only given a chance, she could win the Travers Stakes, an important race horse in Saratoga. But Pretty Lady's wealthy owner, Mr. Harrington, has given up on the horse and decided to retire her. When Mr. Harrington takes Pretty Lady back to his estate, Polly sneaks over there to see the horse, and meets Mike, a stable boy. Soon Polly and Mike make a plan to retrain Pretty Lady and convince Mr. Harrington that she still has a chance to win the race.

4-0 out of 5 stars A cute historical horse story.
It's 1850, and Hannah Brooks is hoping that her father, a sea captain, will give her a horse for her eleventh birthday. Instead, he decides to take her on his clipper ship to visit their relatives in England on their horse farm. Hannah is glad that she will finally get to meet her aunt, uncle, and cousins, and that she will be able to spend time with their horses. However, her stay with her relatives turns out to be quite different from what she imagined. They live in a run-down house, and Hannah is expected to help with chores. Worst of all, however, her cousin Polly is mean to Hannah, and accuses her of being a spoiled rich girl. Hannah takes comfort in riding Gwenny, an English Hackney horse that she comes to love. How will Hannah be able to part with Gwenny when it is time to return home to Boston?

Because she doesn't know English well, some of the other children think she is stupid, and even play cruel pranks on her. Erika's only friend is her family's dependable Clydesdale horse, Silky. 4-0 out of 5 stars Is Majesty Cassie's or Hillary's Horse?
When a beautiful, white lippizan(er) comes to Birchwood Cassie is thrilled. She's also dissapointed that snobby Hillary (a girl from her riding class,) also is interested in the horse. Cassie and Hillary already don't like each other, but when Majesty, the new horse comes, the girls are total enemies. This book is quite good, but I feel racing is more exciting, so I perfer the "Thoroughbred" and "Ashleigh" series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
I've read many good horse-books and this is one of them. I've read many other books in this series as well as the "Saddle "Club" series and the "Thoroughbred" series. I think this book is better than all the books in the "Saddle Club" series, but "Thoroughbred" books are my favorite. If you like jumping this book would be good. I like racing more and enjoy the "Thoroughbred" books, but this still is a good book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
When I heard about the title of this book and the breed featured I ordered it. I was disappointed to read the book and discover that the riding school was not the Spanish Riding School and the horse featured really could have been any other breed. To add insult to injury it was not a dressage horse. If I had written the book I would have made it more historical and with a cavalry/dressage focus instead of hunter/jumper.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Great Addition to the Treasured Horses series
It's Kate's tenth birthday, and her mind is stuck on her all-time dream...owning a horse. When her wish finally comes true and her parents present her with a beautiful Quarter Horse by the name of Chinook, Kate has a new dream. She is sure that Chinook will make a great cutting horse, but only one problem: her nasty neighbor, Jimmy, is planning on entering the contest riding Chinook. Her distant dreams seem impossible, considering that the contest is for boys only. But then a contest between her and Jimmy changes everything. Will she get to compete in the contest after all...and maybe even win?Takes place in 1924 in Canada. This book gives an example of the real-life events of men having more advantages than women, and how some persistant girls faught for their rights.A great story, considering that I am an owner of a Quarter Horse myself, and I learned a lot about them from this story. You don't have to be a horse-lover to fall in love with the characters in this book.Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Kate's Secret Plan - GREATBOOK
I love horse books and this is one of my favorites.I liked it because it showed how you can do whatever you want to do even if you are a girl.Girls can do equally as well as boys when they put their mind to something. I like it when people do what they want by putting their mind toaccomplish something. Kate showed her courage in this book.It is also funto read and you can learn a lot about quarter horse

Since this was my favorite Treasured Horses book I'll give it a 10. Anyways this was about Rosalie Goodman, a daughter of Vermont farmer. But it's 1864 and her father took his horse Captain, with him to the Vermont Calvary to fight for the Yankees. Rosalies family, her sister Mathilde and her brother Albert, and her mother have to raise the farm themselves. Luckily they have a little help from Ed, the farmhand.
