4-0 out of 5 stars Very good for toddlers; not too overwhelming
My son and I love all the Kipper books, but this is anespecially nice one that led him to develop his own signs for rain andhail.Great as a "rainy day" or "snowy day" book when you can't go outside to play. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Too much text for reading aloud.
Ms. nearly-2 is a big Sesame Street fan,and likes the pictures. But there is too much text on each page for reading out loud - she gets impatient before I can finish the page.Probably this book will be good when her attention span is a few years older.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for kids and parents to share
My daughter picked this book out herself in the bookstore because she was attracted to the colorful cover with all the Sesame Street gang.Since then, she asks me to read it to her all the time. She loves turning the pages and finding the different illustrations and styles on each page. She loves reading this book more than watching the show! This way, she can skip to the parts she likes the best.I can't wait for the publishers to publish some more editions!I will definately buy more in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves this book!
My son is a huge Sesame Street fan.He loves this book and will perform it with all the voices of the characters. It is a great book with segments just like the real show.I especially like the segment about Elmo and Zoe.These 2 best friends have a disagreement and later make up by cooperating.Cookie Monster is in the book doing his usual devouring of confections.Big Bird plays Journey to Ernie with some cute illustrations of animals in the jungle that resemble Ernie.Grover hosts the show and also does a segment on Eskimos (Global Grover).Rosita does a Spanish word of the day, and Elmo celebrates friends in Elmo's World. If this book has a theme, it is "friendship."As a parent, I feel this book gave me more "bang for my buck" than many others because it is packed with fun lessons and gives my kid good material for play. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Magic School Bus Meets the Rot Squad
Another in the series of successful "Magic School Bus" books for young elementary-age children, The MSB Meets the Rot Squad is a helpful addition to any teacher's library. It can enhance units dealing with the life cycle in a way that isn't simply approached in other texts for this age group. It really helps jump-start the learning process and bring this concept to life. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Source for any science teacher
I am a high school biology teacher.Since reading this book I have purchased 5 of the Magic School Bus Chapter Books. This book provides excellent scientific information and students of all ages enjoy.I had my 6 year old nephew read it, I read it, and one of my freshmen biology students read it.We all came to the same conclusion; we want to take a trip the aquarium and see the sharks firsthand for ourselves.I highly reccommend anyone with a child or a love for science to read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Educational and exciting!

4-0 out of 5 stars daughter loved it
my daughter, 22months old loved it. she loved it and we worked on her speech going through the animals.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have for animal lovers!!!!!!!!!!!
my 13 month old ADORES this book!he has learned several of the animals in it and now walks around saying 'goose!goose!' all the time.the book is small enough to fit in a diaper bag and sturdy enough to take on the go.the colors are bright and the pictures are chunky and clear.FABULOUS BOOK for little ones!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars tiny, colorful, fun
From my one-and-a-half-yr-old's perspective this book has all the elements of a favorite: it's tiny (about 4x4 inches), illustrated in bright bold colors, and full of animals that he can identify by name.I just wish I'd found it when he was younger -- it seems like the type of book a 6 or 9-month old could enjoy, and I'm afraid its too simple to hold his attention much past 18 months.

3-0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed by the lack of light, too.
Like the other reviewer, I was looking forward to the stars lighting up in this book, and was disappointed to find that feature missing from the book I received.I had to come back to the product page to see if I had misunderstood the description, and now I find that the only mention of the book lighting up is on the cover photo, so disregard that photo. The book is otherwise beautiful, with vivid, gorgeous colors, and I would never have been disappointed had I not had the misunderstanding about the light effect. My daughter loves all things Maisy, so this is a hit with her, and like the other reviewer mentioned, she doesn't know that anything is missing, so she would probably give it five stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sweet books, but where's the Night Light?
Maisy watches the sunset and gets ready for bed. It's a very sweet book with pretty sunset backgrounds. However the night light advertised on the front of the cover is missing. We complained to Amazon and they sent a replacement, which also did not have the night light feature.Too bad, I'm sure my kids would've loved a book that lights up!But they don't know it was supposed to have a light and enjoy it anyway.I guess we parents are the only disappointed ones. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars This was a bad book for us
This was our first Franklin book and my son really, really likes Franklin now.I had never heard of him before this book, which was a "gift" from the pediatrician for my son's pre-preschool check-up.
5-0 out of 5 stars Please read Franklin in the Dark
This is the best of all of the Franklin stories, and the first one published. It's a wonderful read aloud story, a great story for children to act out, and an easy way to begin a discussion of "things that scare us".Children are amazed to learn that grownups can be frightened of things too. This book should be in every child's home collection and in every elementary teacher's too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Neighborhood: eith punch out figures and flaps
Our two year old absolutely loves this book. We've given this book as a gift to all the two year olds we know, they all like it a lot.We purchased our daughter a new book. She had torn the figures and slots they go in on the old book because she plays with the book daily! We had the figures laminated so they would hold up longer, it cost @$2 at a printing shop. One problem with some of the books is that the pages come apart, they need more glue inbetween!

5-0 out of 5 stars great "waiting room" book
Over the past two or three years my five-year-old daughter has worn out two copies of this book. I am ordering a third. She never gets tired of moving around the punch-out characters, talking to them and for them.

4-0 out of 5 stars 20-Month-Old's Favorite Thing in the World
My daughter absolutely adores this book. Like another reviewer, my only complaint is the sturdiness of the play people. Once I'd taped Arthur's head on for the second time, it occurred to me to laminate 'em! That's what I'll do when I get our backup version of this. So that's the ticket. Other than that, she loves this book. She'll sit forEVer putting the guys in and taking them out. I've not seen her concentrate and work so hard at anything else yet. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A good Valentine's Day story!
I like all the Arthur books.Marc Brown is an awesome author and illustrator. His books are really funny. They are perfect for kids ages 4 to 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book Review for Arthur's Valentine
I liked the book because i can remember the first valentine that i received from a girl. I was happy like Arthur was, but didn't want everyone to know about it. In the story, Arthur gets a valentine from his secret admirer. He didn't know yet who it exactly was. He gets another one from the same person. The second one says for him to meet her at the movies. If you read this story, you will find out who sent him the valentine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Breath of Fresh Air
There is a familiar and sometimes wearying continuity in the Animorphs series. Each book is from a single point of view in this order: Jake, Rachel, Tobias/Ax, Cassie, Marco. This book is a breath of fresh air because it is from the PoV Visser One.
5-0 out of 5 stars Insight Into the Yeerks
I'd been a fan of the "Animorphs" series throughout and read all of the books, but up until now, I'd never had the opportunity to read this one until now. This book reveals the full details on how the Yeerk known throughout Visser One as most of the series came to Earth and how the plans for Earth's conquest came to be.
3-0 out of 5 stars Visser
I have wanted to read this book after I finished # something in Animorphs. I have heard great reviews about this book, but I don't think that is all cracked up to be. Sure it has a couple of good spots, but it gets boring after about the third page. U DO NOT have to read this book to finish the Animorph series. All the other books r awsome! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Little Bill builds a sailboat but then it breaks
The "Little Boy Books for Beginning Readers" are written by Bill Cosby to play up the value of friendships and family relationships while also encouraging children to solve the problems they face in fair and creative ways. Each book is dedicated to Cosby's son Ennis, who was tragically murdered, which adds poignancy to these stories for older readers. For beginning readers it is the validity of the point being made in these stories, that are set in a fairly realistic world, that will matter. These books, which are illustrated by Varnette P. Honeywood, are intended for ages 6-10, which shows that beyond being for beginning readers they are intended to teach important lessons.Read more

"Door to Alternity" continues the "Unseen" triligy with the connection between missing children in L.A. and monsters appearing in droves in Sunnydale becoming clearer.Team Angel and The Scobbie Gang are working harder than ever as they try to solve the mysteries and keep the monsters under control. Also the reason for all these strange occurences becomes clear; it dates back to a Cold War science experiment by the KGB to alter reality, all for the glory of the State. Now it is being used to try to blackmail prominant U.S. citizens to bring back the glory days. Also a gang war brakes out between the Mexican Mob and the Russians. All of this makes for a very complicated story, there is a lot going on.Sometimes it gets a little confusing, but never so bad you can't follow the story. It was ok, but certainly suffering from being the bridge book. You have a lot of information and set up for the last book.
