5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
For those who care, this one features Steve. It's also very big.
5-0 out of 5 stars She could find this book if it were in Shri Lanka
This has been my 2 year old's favorite book since she was 10 months old.Seeing all her friends from Blue's Clues makes it interesting, and the colors are bold and the illustrations just like the show. The jillions of flaps are just what my curious girl needs. Many of the flaps are bent or missing now, but I plan to just buy a new one when it gets too beat up.It's a very large book though, can be hard to tote around when your on outings or trips.

5-0 out of 5 stars Favorite Book of My 16-Month Old Grandson
Bought this book for my 16-month old grandson and he was facinated from the beginning.Loved the tabs that lift up and finding the pictures underneath. My daughter put it away for a few days and pulled it out as her "secret weapon" for a recent plane trip!I can highly recommend this book. ... Editorial Review

Who knew school could be this much fun? Maisy paints pictures, writes stories, dances like a ballerina, and even adds and subtracts in this interactive book about the cheery little mouse. Pull a tab to make the pencil in Maisy's paw scribble back and forth in her notebook. Lift the lid of a red chest to find costumes for dress-up. And pull another tab to see the fish in the aquarium dart from behind the plant when Maisy tosses food their way. Fans of the lovable white mouse will adore this story from Lucy Cousins, especiallypre-preschoolers who are wondering just what goes on in this mysterious school they've been hearing about. Large print, crayon-bright colors, and thickly outlined pictures make Maisy stories a favorite for the youngest readers (or almost-readers). Catch Maisy and her friends on TV (Nick Jr.), as well as in her many other endearing books, including Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Memorable but less desirable pull-tabs
My son enjoys all the Maisy books.Maisy Goes to School is no exception. When he talks about school and you ask him a question he correlates to Maisy. This to me is a great children's book when a child remembers. However, the "Lift-The-Flap & Pull-The-Tap" was found it to be less desirable. We have had no difficulty in the construction of other "pull-tab" Maisy books (ie "Seasons") but all the "pull tabs" in "Maisy Goes to School" do not withstand a child pulling, mostly the one for the pencil.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for toddler/preschool age!
The "peek-a-boo" flaps, pull tabs, action and simple language in this book made it a big hit with our two children -- (one toddler and one preschool age)! The darling mouse, Maisy, does lots of activities at school, such as paints pictures, writes a story, dances like a ballerina, and even adds and subtracts! Like other lift the flap/pull the tab books, your child can interact with this book.My preschool age daughter has evenlearned to add and subtract from this book and very much enjoys"reading" the book to me!The Maisy books are a huge success inour home...we're ordering four more to add to our growing collection! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This Books Gives a Priceless Smile
The color and story of Maisy books are just right for a child of a young age. Each page is bright and creative. When reading this book to my nephew, (who is less than 1 year old), and seeing his mother reading it to him, there was something about this particular book that made him smile above any other book read to him. In fact, every Maisy book brought on a smile. Other books didn't make him smile so widely.5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Gave A Priceless Smile

If you are the parent of a young child, you probably know who Maisy is. She's a mouse with a duck, a squirrel, an elephant, and a crocodile for friends. Why the crocodile isn't trying to eat the others is beyond me, but that's life in Maisy's world.Read more

Since children love 'The Magic School Bus' television show, this book about sinking and floating will be sure to grab the attention of those inquisitive young minds! It serves as a great asset to a science classroom,or your own home library.Although it is kind of lengthy, I highlyrecommend it for insurance of complete understanding of the sinking andfloating process.Happy reading! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not as good, but still a great picture book!
I really debated about buying this book for my 3-yr-old daughter.True, she is in love with her 3 other "Charlie and Lola" books, as well as "My Dream Bed"--another wonderful Lauren Child book.Still, when I paged through this book in the bookstore I thought it had too much text on many pages, and overall it is certainly not as charming as "Tomato", "Not Sleepy", and "Too small 4 school".
2-0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as good as the others
This book is taken from an episode of the TV series and is not an "original" story. The writing and "flow" of the book is nowhere as good as the other books.I highly recommend the other books (that is, "Not Sleepy", "Too Small for School" and "Not eat a Tomato"). I also recommend the TV series on the Disney Channel - It is one of the few children shows that all of us (adults included) enjoy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the same as the originals
I was looking forward to this one, since I like the episode it was based on. But this, in a nutshell, is the problem with this disappointing book: the first three books were original creations, this was based on a TV episode. It shows; it lacks the charm of the episode it was based on, let alone the charm of the first three books. This book moves Charlie and Lola from the charm of the first three, to the after-thought of a conglomerate.

3-0 out of 5 stars Deja Spike All Over Again
This book fails for a number of reasons, none of which is the writing.Gallagher puts in an honest effort, and if good writing was all it took to create a great story, Spark and Burn would be a success.Unfortunately, the problem with the book appears right on the front cover, where we are promised an 'original novel,' and it never goes away.
1-0 out of 5 stars just plain bad
I agree with most of the other reviews, this book was horrible. I read the discription on the back of the book and was instantly interested ( being a huge spike fan ) and bought it. but I was very disapointed, the whole thing is just flash backs that come directly from the show and the autor didnt add anything. I would rather just watch the show!!! Plus the flash backs are out of order, leaving you confused. DON'T BUY THIS BOOK, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

3-0 out of 5 stars Boring and Depressing
This book rehashes info from the show, no new material, and is depressing in that the Spike character acts more like Angel in his depressed, regretful view (one reason I'm not crazy about Angel. To mopey.)It may be important to visit this topic for character development, but the epi on tv was enough. It would be nice to have some fiction that tells Spike's story after "Angel", maybe with some Spuffy love. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Trigon revisited
This is sequel to 'Kid's game' and second book of Teen Titan's relaunch but, for me, story was lame. Main villain is some kinda warlock/gothic guy and there is lot of blood, bones and splatter, as if Clive Barker wrote a book (or you are playing Diablo). Artwork is good, but story reminds me too much of fight with Trigon in original Titan's first story arc...I guess don't like magic/gothic stories in superhero books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sins of the father
The second arc in Geoff Johns' re-launch of the Teen Titans finds the team facing off against Deathstroke again, only this time he has help.Former Titan and daughter of Deathstroke Rose has become the new Ravager, and they get thrown into the mix when the Titans later race against time to save Raven from the evil Brother Blood. While there is solid action throughout and the story gets off to a kicking start, the two characters that we're supposed to feel sorry for, Raven and Rose, don't leave the reader feeling any real sympathies for. Both are on paths that aren't entirely in their control (thanks to their respective fathers), and it's only Rose that we feel anything for, and that doesn't happen until this TPB's last page.Despite that, A Family Lost is still a solid and enjoyable Titans story, and the art by Mike McKone and co. continues to be nothing but solid as well. All in all, if you enjoyed A Kid's Game, you'll probably enjoy this as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Teen Titans Own
This is the second trade paperback of a truly great comic book. I first got hooked on the Teen Titans Cartoon on Cartoon Network and that made me investigate further until I realized that there is an ongoing comic book series of the same name written by Geoff Johns. Of the 3 trade Paperbacks: A Kid's Game, Family Lost, and Beast Boys and Girls, I can't say that anyone is my particular favorite, but Family Lost does focus on Raven's Return to the Teen Titans, and since she is one of my favorite characters this was a must have volume for me. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Future Imperfect
This book gives readers a preview of what the titans may turn out to be in the future, and the consequences of their actions. It's worth it to see how their present and future selves interact with each other.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good
This fourth volume of Geoff Johns' Teen Titans is easily the best to date. The writing, while not Mr. Johns' best, is quite good and the pencils are also rather good. This volume collects Teen Titans 15-23 and Teen Titans/Legion of Super-Heroes Special.
2-0 out of 5 stars Geoff Johns can do better than this
I really liked Geoff Johns work on JSA. He gave us an interesting mix of old and new characters to star in some well written adventures. His stories had just the right balance of action, adventure, humor and drama and made the book something I always looked forward to reading. But after the third year the stories didn't interest me as much and I dropped JSA by issue 40. One of the things I liked about his JSA work was the character development. He made the reader feel a part of the characters world and made us care about them. It's a pity the same can't be said of the Teen Titans.

4-0 out of 5 stars Review of a Kid's Game...Very good!!!
For any fans of the Titans tv show on C.N., this story takes place when those Titans are a few years older and are helping form a new group of Teen Titans. This will not be much like the tv show but the artwork is beautiful and it's cool to see the Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, Cyborg, and Robin characters as they were originally. It's very cool, all Titans and DC comics fans should check it out!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great restart to the Titans.
I started reading this book with only a passing familiarity with the Teen Titans lore (not counting the cartoon, because most cartoons do not resemble the comic at all) and was pleasently surprised with this book. There was a good recap, because theauthor wrote the book from the new Titans' prespectives, giving the reader the same knowledge that the new members had in order to be up to date. I thought this was really well-written with a good intro to Deathstroke (if you're like me, and hadn't encountered him before), and the JLA even makes an appearenece and has at it with some of the Titans. Of course, the JLA comes off as being the pompous guardians of their younger proteges, butsince the book is written from the view of teenagers it makes more sense that way. Anyways, if you've never read a Teen Titans, Outsiders, or YOung Justice graphic novel before, this is as good a place to start as any.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buenisimo y Cautivante!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book by a wonderful man behind the feathers
Big Bird is a wonderful, kind-hearted creature, because Caroll Spinney is a gentle, kind-hearted man.His uplifting memoirs about his life bringing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to life and making them very real beings to millions of children and adults, alike, are truly beautiful. Caroll is a very effective writer and illustrator, alike, and his tales brought joy to me as I read every one of them.I was especially touched by his chapter on doing Big Bird in China with the little girl and the goodbye they had at the airport. I was equally moved by his inherrent love and genuine affection for the puppets around him, described best by his picking Ernie up off the floor and apologizing to him for Jim's having unceremoniously dropped him there. One of my favorite lines in the book was near the end when he talked about the new folks and new format; at one point he said, "Then came Elmo."Those of us classic Sesame Street purists understood that line on a molecular level! Most significant for me was one of the messages of wisdom Caroll so eloquently describes. He says that sometimes you realize that your life is exactly how you always wanted it to be.I read this and realized that for myself, that was absolutely true, and I hadn't realized it till just that moment.I am a huge Sesame Street fan, and I'm so proud that my son has become one, too (he's nuts about Elmo, but equally gaga over Big Bird in Journey to Ernie). And this easy read made me feel warm and nostalgic.I've always understood Big Bird, and now I understand him -- and Oscar, not to mention Caroll -- alot better.Thank you, Caroll, for sharing your life in feathers and grouchland and for writing this wonderful book that spoke to me so deeply.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read
Very interesting and enjoyable read. Funny and sad at times. A most entertaining synopsis of life as Big Bird. Highly recommend this book for any age.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Story of Wisdom from The Big Bird
During vacation with our daughter in Connecticut I even felt closer to Home of the Big Bird! The first of 7 new books hooked me by the cover picture and title... Even the intimate story of Caroll Spinney: "Playing Big Bird has been my job for half my lifetime. It is a fabulous career- more than I ever hoped for, yet everything I believed it could be. Going to work everyday is a joy. The people I work with are tremendously talented...to educate and inspire young children is extremely motivating."

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bee-siest Field Trip of All Time
"The Magic School Bus: Inside a Beehive" represents a slight departure for author, Joanna Cole, and illustrator, Bruce Degen.Written in 1996, this book could easily have been all about our friends, the insects.Because, as student Dorothy Ann explains in the opening pages, "There are more insect species on earth than all other animals put together!"Indeed, you need look no farther than your own backyard (or a few dusty corners of your home) to find bugs of all shapes and sizes crawling around, buzzing about, and foraging for food.
4-0 out of 5 stars More Science!

4-0 out of 5 stars Beekeeper's Review
Kids (of all ages) ask the darndest things. When we work fairs or are identified as beekeepers in public, we are bomberded with basic questions regarding honeybees. This book was bought for my mother as much as for mybrother's son. He asks her questions difficult to answer without pictures,"How do bees make wax...?" This book goes into enough detail toanswer all the "How do...?'s" likely to come up regardinghoneybees. A fine book for any child interested in insects. Also a goodselection to temper the fears of those children that may fear bees. Thepages are a little busy, otherwise would have gotten 5 stars. ... Read more

This is the type of book I get a little sad when I get near the end. Must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 of the best Buffy books
This is 1 of my favorite books ever, 1 f my favorite story lines was Blood and Brine I loved the pirate slayer. My favorite story in this book was the last 1 where Buffy, Willow, and Xander go back in time I loved the fact that Buffy got to see her mom again and that she wasn't stuck with Dawn for once. I think that when the show brought Dawn on the show and killed Buffy's mom is when they ruint Buffy, from the 5th season on the show slowly went downhill. I HIGHLY recommend this book it is definitely the best Buffy book in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this Book..........
I've always love BTVS because of the Mythology of the Slayer line and how she's Chosen and all of that, I also love the characters and how they're written so well.....But i've often wondered about Past Slayers, what they were like, and what their life was like because as we've always known, Buffy is just one of many Slayers throughout the Years. I loved this Book and how it told about Different Slayers from Different Era's and how that particular Era effected their Duty as the Slayer. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Teacher Trouble
Marc Brown creates the Arthur adventure, Arthur's Teacher Trouble with a moral in mind. Also it proves that if you work hard and give it your all, you'll be more successful. The book is told for children to understand that a little hard work gets you somewhere. With no effort at all, you won't come out with your best. 4-0 out of 5 stars Neat!
This game is great for young computer-users!Each page has at least 15 "interactions" -- i.e. clicking on the salt shakers in thekitchen makes them dance. The story can read itself to you are you canread it silently.Even clicking on one word makes the computer say it. Great for children just learning to read. However, using it TOO many timescan get tiring...after all, it is just a computerized book.Great valuefor the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars I learned from Arthur's Teacher Trouble.
I learned to do my best, but that if my best isn't better than everyone else's best, it is okay. ... Read more
