2-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Eyes by Justina
Arthur's Eyes was a good example of how your treated when you look different from others. Although everyone is the same and equal, and thats how the teacher treated Arthur, equally.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I bought this for my 5-year old so that she would have some point of reference for starting school and POSSIBLY dealing with teasing about wearing glasses.Great book.We already had a lot of Arthur books and have occassionally watched him on PBS, so she's slightly familiar with him.Reading about what he tried and went through really helped her think about people teasing others about being different. We already had an OLD Arthur book (Arthur's Nose) so she knew what the OLD Arthur looked like, but I was still slightly disappointed to have the cover picture be of the NEW Arthur.

3-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Eyes
This book was about a boy named Arthur who has to get glasses. The next day at school his classmates and friends for wearing glasses tease him. He starts telling his teacher that he forgot his glasses at home. The lesson this book teaches that it's okay to be different and not to care about what others think of you. The age level of this book is about from ages 5-8. I thought this book was good because all children need to learn that it's okay to be different. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, straight and good story for young child
I got this book, in fact, a gift set when my first-born was 11 months old. She is a year now and my husband reads this to her every evening before her bed time in both language - English and Mandarin, while she is holding the Maisy in her hands.
1-0 out of 5 stars bad book!!!
This is not a good book because maisy swears all the time. I do not recommend this to others. There is even a mention of peeing and two of the charecters are gay. do not buy this book for young kids. Take my advice!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great books, bad condition
I ordered my books from here and the hardcover came torn. I must warn you to be careful ordering books online, you never know what you're going to get. I orderd my books for $30. If I had orderd later I would of have to buy for $45. It seems amazon rose the prices. The price is the same as in the stores so I advise you to get it in stores because you never know what your going to get in the mail. Or you can wait till it's $30 again or buy from a seller. Now on to the books. This hardcover includes 3 books. The first one features seasons 1-8. The second one features seasons 9-10, the third one contains seasons 11-12. Each one contains things you might of missed facts and other stuff like production photos songs and more. I reccommend this for all simpsons fans.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Guide for the Ultimate Simpsons Fan
This Episode Guide has EVERYTHING that you can ever imagine in an episode guide. From Seasons 1-12, it has details on every single episode. Its got quotes, what Bart writes on the chalkboard in the intro, couch gags, special guest voices, writers, screenshots, episode number (i.e. 8F05), air date, scene selections, runtime, and a whole lot more. All of this for only about $30, what a bargain. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons Forever!
I have the first book that covers seasons 1-8 and it is an absolute must-have for Simpson fans not in front of the internet who want to remember specific shows and lines from the shows at their fingertips. It has brought hours and hours of joy to my friends and I. I think the guy from Belgium is just bitter and might want to consume some Duff. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Story but Short on Facts
I would give this a three, only my son loves this book because he loves anything about ants.We read Ms Cole`s MAGIC SCHOOL BUS VISITS A BEEHIVE back to back with this. The comparison is too great. It would be terrific to see a layout of the ant colony`s system of tunnels and chambers. Also, no mention is made of the drones:in the story Phoebe says "Without the queen, there wouldn`t be eggs," but without drones, there wouldn`t be eggs, either.I don`t know if they showed them in the television show, but there were no pictures of the pupae, nor the interesting fact that the ants stroke them and receive a tasty secretion in return. The book was interesting, but short on information;more so than some of the others adapted from the TV series. If your child wants to find out about ants there are better books out there.

4-0 out of 5 stars good teaching resource
In this book a class ventures into the busy world of an ant farm. They learn all about the different roles of the different types of ants in each colony. The story is interesting to children and a lot of information about ant communities is presented.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for a pre-schooler
I bought this book as a present for my daughter's fourth birthday a month ago.Just about every night since then, we've read 6-8 pages of the dictionary to her at bed time.If it were up to her, we'd read more and more every night. She loves it.

4-0 out of 5 stars cute for all ages
This is one of the better books that has so much in it that I can read it every night (many times) and still see new things. I can read it with my 18 month old (she loves Elmo, Ernie and Cookie) and my 3 year old (who loves the information from the book). My 3 year old will actually 'read' it to his sister while I am doing other things. The pictures are great and it is classic Sesame Street. i will note that the images and text is similar to the encyclopedia set from the 80's (which I also recommend), but that's ok. I didn't have the complete set anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best childrens book ever
I still own my original 1980 copy of this book and I'm in my mid 20's - it's one of my most cherished possessions. This was one of my first real books and my parents claim it was the secret of my educational success.Beyond being a dictionary, it teaches counting, reasoning and ethics.I would recommend this book to anyone who either loves Sesame Street or is looking for a really good book for their child to learn from. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I didn't like the ending at all.
This was the first Arthur Book I bought for my four year old daughter...who very strongly believes in Santa .As I was nearing the end of this book while reading it to her, I realized where we were going withthe ending.I understand if your target age is ten years old or so andthey are doubtful, but I had to explain to my daughter after we finishedthe book why Santa didn't eat the stuff that Arthur had worked so hard on,and why the sister got rid of it all. I bought this book at a school bookfair, and I was really looking forward to introducing her to Arthur Books. Now, I can't say that I'll ever buy another one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet, sweet Terra
One of the best and first teen titans books I have ever read! In this adventure we learn how Slade got his powers, and that he has a son well another son called Jericho. Jericho is mute but he's a mutante err I mean meta-human that can jump into a persons body and take over them. Jericho for some reason seems to have a uncommon effect on people, this effect is to make people around him, trust him! For some strange reason, the writers never took advantage of this and they actually made the character trustworthy. Slade himself, vouches to BeastBoy that his son is on the up and up.
5-0 out of 5 stars The High Point For Perez and Wolfman
Viewed by many as DC's X-Men, the New Teen Titans surpassed their Marvel rival and this book is the proof.Less wordy, better artwork and fuller plots and characters, Wolfman and Perez created something that has not only defined their careers, but has been a benchmark for all comic creators. The story is actually the culmination of 4 or 5 years of Teen Titan comics, starting with #1, but "The Judas Contract" is only the last year or so.Wolfman's writing appealed to his target reader, young adults, as their inner conflicts about fitting in, unrequited love or growing up was reflected in the heroes in the Titans.Looking back 20 years later, it may seem quaint, but it holds up, as does the main action and storyline. As for Perez's art, it is his finest. Not only is he able to create a different, unique look for each character, he was able to do it every month, plus provide inks for the first 3 chapters. It is true that the New Teen Titans never was as good a book afterwards, and near the end was embarrassing for all involved, but how many years did Claremont get out of the X-Men after John Byrne left?"The Judas Contract" ranks just below "Watchmen," "Dark Knight," and "Batman:Year One" as 1980s' DC product, and is still in the top 10 or 20 of all time.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ CLASSIC
The Judas Contract is the pinnacle of the Wolfman-Perez era of the Titans, thats all there is to it. Action, adventure, betrayal, and tragedy are all enveloped within some of Perez's greatest work ever. I would recommend this not just to any Titans fan, but any comics fan at all, and you couldnt ask for a better introduction to the Titans if you've never been a fan. If you didnt like The Judas Contract, you just dont "get it" and never will. Its easily one of the Top 20, maybe Top 10 stories ever told. Forget Crisis, Identity Crisis, and Avengers Disassembled, if you want an "epic" story arc or an "event", this is it. ... Read more

This is a very touching book. It shows emotions of what happens when a close friend moves away. Frankin takes it out on everybody. But in the end his father figures out that it was Otter's moving that upset Franklin. His father told him how they can still stay in contact with each other. Franklin sent Otter a puzzle that he made.

5-0 out of 5 stars Franklin Learns About the Hospital, and Bravery
Kids love Franklin the turtle and so if they have to go the hospital, this book will really help.
5-0 out of 5 stars The absolute best of its kind!
As a children's librarian, this is the best book I've found so far for children that explains what a trip to the hospital is like. In the story, Franklin accidentally gets a crack in his shell while playing soccer, and must have a simple operation to fix it. Franklin is nervous, and tries to be brave, but inside, he's a little frightened. Everything is explained, in detail, from the hospital bracelet with your name on it, how an X-Ray machine works, even the numbing medicine put on Franklin's hand so he doesn't feel the needle for the anesthetic. It also explains that while your parents cannot be in the operating room with you, they will be right there when you wake up! As with all the Franklin books, the illustrations are beautiful, and this book is no exception. All of the details are there, right down to the rails on the hospital bed and the IV stand. I highly reccommend this book to any child who's nervous about a stay in the hospital, or simply to anyone who's curious! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting
When I first read the back of this book, I was so excited. It sounded like an excellent read. I waited until all three books came out and then I bought them. And then I read them, and was extremely disappointed.4-0 out of 5 stars Burning
"Unseen" is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel crossover triligy focusing on a group of kidnapped teenagers.Salma, a privliged Mexican at Sunnydale Collage, goes to Buffy and Willow to help with her brother who went missing.Meanwhile back in Los Angeles, Angel gets involved with a man who was framed by crooked cops, and his psychic son.Cordelia and Wes track down a bunch of vampire worshiping teenagers. All of these stories do not come together in this book. But there is a lot of conflict; Angel seems at odds with Riley (Buffy's new boyfriend), LAPD detective Kate Lockly, and even Buffy herself.Xander get envious of Spike because of him and Anya having so much in common; Giles and Wesley have a battle of the experts.I liked this book, and I couldn't wait until the next one.One little problem is that the "Unseen" series isn't as good as "The Gatekeeper Triligy" or "The Lost Slayer" series, but still pretty good.

Editorial Review

Maisy the marvelous mouse is ready to take the plunge--but she needs the assistance of young readers to get properly prepped for the pool. Dressed for the arctic tundra, this rodent has a lot of disrobing to do. By lifting flaps and pulling tabs, kids can help Maisy peel down to her skivvies. After removing her blue hat and scarf, brown boots, red coat, gray sweater, green trousers, purple T-shirt, yellow socks, and orange undies, Maisy is finally ready to don her rainbow-striped swimsuit and leap into the water (hopefully mice can swim). Youngsters will delight in Lucy Cousins's charming illustrations, as well as the tugging, lifting, and sliding involved in this interactive book. The many colors and clothes provide an excellent learning opportunity, but kids will appreciate Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Maisy the Swimmer is Great
Maisy captures a child's attention.Maisy is going swimming. Most preschool children love to play in water. This book teaches children their colors and the names of articles of clothes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bobbing along
Good old Maisy. Her adventures tend to be as large or small as the daily activites that children themselves partake in.Appearing in cleverly constructed (and mighty strong) books, Maisy is cheery without ever becoming pendatic. She's light-hearted but never tiring.Maisy is, in fact, the perfect companion for any child beginning to read. She is also a great help to those parents that want their kids to see reading as a fun activity.4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun to read
This book has a very simple concept - taking off all of Maisy's many layers of clothing and then putting on her bathing suit so that she can go swimming. My 2 year old son loves it to pieces - literally.Unfortunately it's not very robust, but even now with half the pages in tatters it's still one of his favorites. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars 'The Magic School Bus Gets Baked' is questionable
I don't think children's books should glorify these sorts of "trips".But the colors are vivid and I think most of the unsuitable references will go over the heads of its younger readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars MAgic school bus "cake"
I liked this book, it was interrasting and it had made me read more and omre till i got through it all.I like the part when the shrunk and the guy was chaseing them and the flew into the cake and went into the oven i didn't think there would make it out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Chemistry Fizzes
When their inimitable school bus goes on the fritz (or should I say, "frizz"?,) the students get worried:this is one field trip they don`t want to miss. They`re trying to give their unique teacher a surprise birthday party and need to get to the bakery for the cake. When they finally reach their destination, the unstable bus suddenly shrinks, with everyone in it, to the size of a moth. They dodge the baker`s fly swatter and Ms Frizzle while using kitchen chemistry to get the job done.My boys and I miss the volume of information and mini "reports" of the original series, but they still learn and have fun at the same time. They have a new respect for cooking, as edible chemistry. And the baking soda experiment at the back of the book is a rainy day standby in our household:we love the fizz from the Frizz! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S A VERY NICE BOOK
ITS 6 STORIES IN TOTAL. MK AND ASH. ADD FUN TO DO ACTIVITIES AFTER EACH STORY

5-0 out of 5 stars Once Upon a Time With the Olsen Twins
This book is really cute and has six of Mary-Kate and Ashleys favorite Disney stories. Stories like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Snow White and the Seven Dworfs, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid. In each story they tell you little things and before each story they tell you why it is their favorite and their thoughts about the story. After each cute story they give you a project to make something that is based on the story you just read. It even has pictures of them and of the stories you read. Before each story they dress up like the main character. Over all the book has more than one story in it and is really cute and good for little kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Once Upon a Time
Once upon a time there were a pair of twins in a storybook called Once Upon a Time with Mary-Kate and Ashley. The book is cute. It has six different Disney stories like Aladddin and Beauty and the Beast. Before each story they tell you what they think of it. After each story they give you instructions to build a product that goes with the story that you just read. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars BEST FOR THOSE APPREHENSIVE ABOUT SCHOOL
OUR PRE-SCHOOLER IS SO OUTGOING, THIS BOOK DIDN'T STRIKE A CHORD W/ HER & SHE NEVER WANTED IT READ A 2ND TIME.SHE DID LOVE THE COOKIE PAGE THOUGH.LAUREN CHILD IS VERY FUNNY, BUT OUR FAVORITE IS 'I AM NOT SLEEPY...'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nothing but love for Charlie and Lola!
My kids both love Charlie and Lola!I have only recently discovered them, but found this book just before my daughter started kindergarten. This book looks at some of the things that kids will worry about when they start school (especially for the first time, but also as it turns out for starting a new grade!) and helps ease many of those worries in a way that is gentle and humorous.I love how gentle and easy-going Charlie is with his little sister, and how refreshing it is to see a sister and brother pair who genuinely love each other and even when they're frustrated with each other, they manage to work it out.My daughter and her little brother will have richer lives for this series of books.I can't recommend them highly enough!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE Lauren Child
I have recently discovered the Charlie and Lola Lauren Child books and I (and my kids) can't get enough of them. The relationship between brother and sister is gorgeous, and the insight into a small girl's mind is spot on.The Language and phrasing is something that all kids can identify with. When I read these books all my children (12, 10, 6 and 5) stop and listen. This one is particularly entertaining as it contains Lola's imaginary friend Soren Lorenson.Amazing illustrations and wonderful story. ...
