3-0 out of 5 stars CLIFFORD VISITS THE HOSPITAL
Cute book,if you are preparing for a hospital visit and have other more informative books, this is a good one to purchase just for a light read-but still keeping with the subject you want your child to be prepped for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes children's hospital visits easier
If you have a child who is apprehensive about going to the hospital, this is a good book. It teaches children about how a hospital functions and why we need it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Children's tale
My little neighbor used to hate going to the doctor's but when I went to babysit her, and read her this book, she exclaimed that she wanted to go there more. I truly am touched by the fact that she wanted to go then. I reccomend this book to little kids because they are normally the most afraid of going to the mean old doctor's office. "Enchanting" ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Sally Goes to the Vet
Beautiful illustrations, fun story that will appeal to kids & adults alike

5-0 out of 5 stars "Just Close Your Eyes and Think a Happy Thought"
Sally tells this first-person (make that first-dog) tale of her trip to the vet in another Sally series winner from author/illustrator Stephen Huneck. Sally, who is perhaps a black lab mix, is bored inside the house, where the people's homework, urgent memos, passports, old socks, and underwear surround her. Thrilled by a weather change, she goes outside and plays chase with her buddy, tabby cat Bingo. She's so excited that she doesn't see a tree stump, and she falls over, hurt.
5-0 out of 5 stars Give this book to your vet!
I loved the first three sally books, but this one really outdoes itself. Huneck's illustrations are worth framing and thew story lends itself so well to sharing with chilren who are taking their pet to the vet for the first time. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, great book to read before taking a child to the dentist for the first time!
Grab this book - this one should be in every library! It's a great hit at our house because in places, it's quite funny!Sister wakes up one morning with a loose tooth and thus, talks funny! The words are spelled as such so my little one gets quite the chuckle out of how sister says certain "s" words!Anyway, sister spends the entire day wiggling her loose tooth until it's time to take brother to the dentist for his checkup. The dentist finds that brother has a cavity and lets sister stand over the chair and watch while he fills brother's tooth.Brother does try to torment sister quite a bit about how the dentist is going to "yank our her loose tooth," so she is somewhat timid to get into the chair. However, she does and while she is busy asking questions and looking at the dentist's "yanker," the dentist feels her tooth in a cloth, wiggles it around and out it comes!Sister had no idea it even happened! She's pretty excited and thrilled about all of it and was very glad that brother was wrong about the yanker! She gets a dime from the tooth fairy and was very excited!

5-0 out of 5 stars FRANKLINGOES TO THE HOSPITAL
This book was great for my six year old preparing to go to the hospital. It was really important for him to realize that it is okay to be scared, that it is part of the whole experience, you just need to talk about it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Franklin Learns About the Hospital, and Bravery
Kids love Franklin the turtle and so if they have to go the hospital, this book will really help.
5-0 out of 5 stars The absolute best of its kind!
As a children's librarian, this is the best book I've found so far for children that explains what a trip to the hospital is like. In the story, Franklin accidentally gets a crack in his shell while playing soccer, and must have a simple operation to fix it. Franklin is nervous, and tries to be brave, but inside, he's a little frightened. Everything is explained, in detail, from the hospital bracelet with your name on it, how an X-Ray machine works, even the numbing medicine put on Franklin's hand so he doesn't feel the needle for the anesthetic. It also explains that while your parents cannot be in the operating room with you, they will be right there when you wake up! As with all the Franklin books, the illustrations are beautiful, and this book is no exception. All of the details are there, right down to the rails on the hospital bed and the IV stand. I highly reccommend this book to any child who's nervous about a stay in the hospital, or simply to anyone who's curious! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not All Doctors Are Bad.
Most children are afraid of going to the doctor (well a lot of adults are, too, but for completely different reasons). When the word doctor is mentioned to kids images of needles, blood, bandages, and strange looking objects come to mind. Reading THE BERENSTAIN BEARS GO TO THE DOCTOR may help relieve some of the fears that children have when they know they are going to the doctor.5-0 out of 5 stars Check-up

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST-HAVE if your child to going to the hospital
When my son was going to have tubes put in his ears and his Adnoids removed, we purchased this book.He was just barely 3 years old, but this book explained on HIS level everything that was going to happen to him (from the little boy's ear first hurting, to everything that happens at the hospital before and after the surgery).
4-0 out of 5 stars Bright and cheery for very young readers
This book is about a boy who goes into the hospital for a one night stay after an ear operation. The pictures and words are bright, cheery and comforting to young readers. My daughter liked to read this book evenafter her hospital stay.It was written in England so it shows hospitalscenes (like children in group wards) which didn't apply to my daughtersstay.I pointed out differences between what would and did happen to her. A good book to show a very young child what going to the hospital will belike and that it isn't as scary as it might seem. ... Read more

Kids who go to the doctor for a routine checkup shouldn't worry toomuch. Unless they accidentally throw a paper airplane ("zwish!") into thedoctor's eye. Or forget to wear underwear. ("Oops!") 3-0 out of 5 stars Hide it!
This book was a gift to our daughter (nearly three). She loved the Froggy Goes to Bed book and I defended Froggy's misbehavior because that book kept her attention and was a favorite. However, Froggy Goes to the Doctor went beyond our line. Our daughter has never feared the doctor. After her two year check up she had to have blood drawn. She didn't flinch, and afterward she said she had "fun".I am very cautious that she does not "learn" to be afraid of doctors.I am less concerned about Froggy's misbehavior as I am about his fear of getting a shot.We hid the book, out of sight out of mind...

I feel a little sheepish giving this 5 stars. Frankly, I don't much care for the Froggy series. Here's the truth, though - it doesn't matter what I think. My 5-year-old loves all the Froggy books, and they serve as great motivators for him to continue learning to read. 5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!

5-0 out of 5 stars Silly fears laid to rest
Little kids are easily frightened by new things, and the dentist is high on the list. The idea that a book could help a child overcome that certainly doesn't make any sense to me - but it works anyway!
5-0 out of 5 stars Hygienist Project
We obtained a grant from First 5 Siskiyou to provide two dental hygienists one day per week to visit preschools in Siskiyou County and do assessments and education for the kids 3-5 years old. This is designed to make kids comfortable going to the dentist and to pick up and refer needed work to be done. The kids receive a toothbrushing kit and a book to take home. The hygienists recommended this book and the kids love it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Harry's Dinosaurs
Ian Whybrow has come out with another wonderful picture book entitled Harry and the Dinosaurs say "Raahh!" It is a wonderful book to introduce the idea of visiting the dentist to children.A little boy named Harry is afraid to go to the dentist because his older sister told him that the dentist drills and fills teeth.Being a little afraid he goes in search of his dinosaur friends in his room.Harry takes the dinosaurs to the dentist with him and lets them try everything first.Harry felt better after his toy dinosaurs tried everything first and was willing to corporate with the dentist. He found out that the dentist office was not such a scary place. This is a great resource for children that have never been to a dental office and might want to know what is expected. The bright color cartoon illustrations are visual appealing to both children and adults. It is easy for children to relate to dinosaurs and their toys coming to life. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Corduroy Goes to the Doctor
This is an excellent book to prepare your child before going to the doctor. Many children are afraid of the unexpected.Being in the medical field, I find that children who are prepared beforehand do better. This book describes Corduroy's day at the doctor. It gives vivid pictures ofhim entering the office, being weighed, and having his throat and earsexamined. It also shows the doctor listening to Corduroy's heart whilegiving him breathing instructions! At the end Corduroy gets a shot as thedoctor explains, "We don't want you to get sick." My daughter(age 3) is great at the doctor's office and I really owe a lot to it toCorduroy! My daughter loves Corduroy!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book
This short and simple book has been very helpful to me. My 1 year old son has to go to the doctor VERY OFTEN for ear infections. He seems to relate well to seeing whatCorduroy does there, and we talk about whenhe doesto the doctor and they do those things. I think it would be helpful toexplain to children who don't have to go often as well, in knowing what toexpect. The pictures are great, and the words are simple and to the pointfor young children. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Scared of the Dentist? Not any more...
This incredible book from Fisher Price was a life saver for my 30 month old twins!Their first visit to the dentist, just after 24 months, was a nightmare! This time, however, we read this book several times and talked about it a lot before going. They were so excited and knew just what would happen.Even the hygenist and the dentist were impressed! We took the book with us just in case, too!5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!What a difference when visiting the dentist!
We read this book several times before heading to the dentist. We even read it on the way! When we got to the office, it was just like the book and the appointment went like a dream with my 2.5 y.o.!Read more

I think this book is awesome!!!
2-0 out of 5 stars I Don't Recommend This Book
I didn't really enjoy SweetBlood. Lucy Szabo was very negative and rude so I found it very hard to like her. When I read a book I want to feel the way the person in the bookdoes; laugh when she laughs, cry when she cries. In this book I didn't feel that at all, I thought she needed an attitude adjustment.
4-0 out of 5 stars me like da sweet blud!
I like the book "sweet blood." Although the beginning is a little bit creapy.quoting:"blood is my friend, without it I die." sounded as though this girl lucy was a vampire that likes blood. But she just tends to think about vampires alot because her theory is that vampires never really existed. She thinks these "vampires" are really diabetics for some reason. She my be a tad bit droopy and scary to some people she as an attitude that I just love. She makes people think that she is mad at them but she really just doesn't care. But when she starts hanging out with "DRACO" or i think wade or something. this guy that gets people thinking is he really a vamp. lucy starts to change a little because she begins to sneak out and drink wine when she knows that can make her glocuse or blook suger goes out of controlle she just doesn't care. But when she finially realizes that she has to do something to controlle herself she makes a complete 180 in her personality. Only with the same attitude. But she shaves her head and acts like the old lucy that was more up beat and happy. That is the thing that I like. ... Read more
