EXCELLENT NEWEDITION TO THIS SERIES
Besides being well written, this is one book in thisseries by Patricia that has been greatly improved with the "new" covers. Why not make a good book better!? (I vote for that.) Another series, by Patricia, that has been improved, is her "Polk Street School" Series. The new covers are beautiful, and children can identify with the books, and lessons from them. So far, the "new and improver" covers are: 1. December Secrets 2. The Beast in Ms. Rooney's Room 3. Fish Face 4. The Candy Corn Contest 5. Dinosaur's Paw, The Valentine Star, & Snaggle Doodles AreComing Soon. (They're worth waiting for!) Enjoy!

A great story!
This is an excellent book! I read it when I was 18. I have been a Casey Valentine & friends fan since I was 10 and had devoured all the other books and was thirsty for more, and had been writing to the author on andoff when I was a kid and she mentioned this book in her letter to me and soyears later I finally found it in the library. I loved it! It is so good!It's about a chubby girl named Poopsie who wants to change her image, andher friend Tracy (some friend!) always puts her down and calls her a"Lily Liver". She wants ballet lessons and she gets her wish whenher mom takes a job waitressing but the catch is that Poopsie will be homealone in the evenings while her mom works and she put Poopsie in charge onher baby brother Teddy. Thing is, Poopsie is scared since Tracy told herthat a kidnapper is in the neighborhood. Poopsie gets tired of Tracy alwaysteasing her so when her ballet class does a musical, Poopsie lies to herabout her role in it, and then Tracy becomes impressed and decides she'sgoing to come watch her perform...Poopsie's got herself in a jam! Be Prepared to Pee in Your Pants!
How can you not love this earnest protagonist who hides junk food in her closet while simultaneously plans to loose major pounds of weight?How can you not love one who does virtually the impossible -change her name/take swimming lessons- to garnish the heart of her "true" love?Ah, such sweet sorrow: she is indeed FAT!! I really love this book.I borrowed it from the library expecting it to be just another read..but it was a great book. I was able to sympathize with everything that happened..I recommend this book to any girl whofeels she has a problem with her weight and thinks that because of it, shecannot attain true love.

Funny, and Sensitive this book is a great read!

Pretty good book
This book is about agirl namedBetsy. Her mother sends her to summer camp, her mom's goal for her is to lose weight. Besty is shocked. More than anything she wants to be her cabins candidate for the cabins end of summer beauty contest. To do so she must change, and she really does. No one thinks Betsy would go this far to try and change. This camp has a better outcome than her and her mother could of ever imagined! review
This is the book to read, regardless of body type/size. Readers will emphasive with the overweight protaganist surrounded by body concious girls at her summer camp. An amusing and realistic point of view, this book will appeal to young readers for sure.

This is an excellent book to give to any pre-adolescent female who is going away to cummer camp. It tells the problems and inner turmoil an overweight girl suffers when she goes away to summer camp for the firsttime. The story will teach a child about having compassion and sensitivityto others. A lighthearted look at a weighty problem.

The Fat Girl...was phat...
This book was recommended to me by a fat girl and I thought it was going to be really good by her recommendation but the book sucked!I mean come on if you are fat and unhappy take of the problem I mean exercise instead of being selfish and contimplating suicide...This book sets a bad example for kids and they feel they need to change themselves just because someone doesn't like them...I think this book should be burned just like in Farenheit 451, which may I say is an excellent book, WE SHOULD BURN ALL COPIES OF THIS BOOK!

I loved this book
This fall I've read a book called `The Fat Girl'.It was a very good book, one of the best I've read.It was very realistic and inspiring as well.The book can teach you as very valuable lesson on judging people.Basically it tells you that you should judge people on how they look, but what's on the inside.
This book was a complete surprise
I couldn't believe how good this book is. The story is a compleate surprise. Based in the 80's were people were all different one girl didn't understand why this fun was denied to her simply because of her weight. When she threatens to kill herself she get help from a surprising person. The one who had despised her most, a normal popular kidends up liking her. Great for young teens!

Munch Bunch series
I was a member of a book club when I ordered these books for my children. (Who are grown now). I intended to use them for my grandchildren,but they've gone missing and I'd love to have another set. (I don't remember how many we had, but it was quite a few. HOw can I get a new set? Some of the titles are "Billy Blackberry" "Emma Apple" "Pippa Pear" There were mushrooms, cucumber, onion and other veggies in the series too.
