5-0 out of 5 stars A Thrilling Tale
In my admiration for this fun, fascinating, fact-filled book, I yield to no authority but the eminent KIRKUS REVIEWS: 5-0 out of 5 stars A book to treasure!
Trail Fever brings to life the true adventures of a Texas hero, George Washington Saunders.George was a gallant cowboy who braved stampedes, storms, droughts, and outlaws. D.J. Lightfoot tells this nonfictionstory with thrilling description and a narrative full of adventure anddanger. This is an exceptional easy-to-read biography with plenty of rich, authentic detail--perfect for schools, libraries, and homes.Iespecially loved the part where 20-year-old Saunders stopped a vigilantegroup of nearly 80 men from mistakenly taking revenge on some Mexicanpeople.Lightfoot makes the reading easy, but most important she makes thereading fun and exciting. This is a perfect book for youngsters oranyone who'd like to get a genuine experience of a courageous man and aninteresting era! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very poorly done.
I was SO disappointed in this book. I love horses and thought this would be a good gift for my nephew but after I got it I changed my mind. The story is kind of interesting but it seems from reading stuff on the Internet that it's really not true after all. So I'm not giving my nephew this book (which is labelled as "a true story"). I don't want him to end up thinking something is true history which is really not.5-0 out of 5 stars A companion to the movie for young readers
So many children that I know have become big HIDALGO fans in the4-0 out of 5 stars Good, enjoyable reading no matter how old you are
I've seen HIDALGO at the movies twice now and am really looking foward to purchasing the DVD when it's released this summer. Since seeing it the second time around, I've collected some of the film's memorabelia (the poster, the CD of the score and this interesting novelization of the screenplay). It's written mainly for 8-12 year olds but I'm 24 and I happened to really enjoy it. Having seen it twice, I remember much of the details of the film which the book remains faithful to. I highly recommend this to anyone who's seen the movie, likes Viggo Mortensen (a highly talented actor who also played Aragorn in THE LORD OF THE RINGS movies) or if you just love to read really good books. ... In The Days of the Vaqueros
5-0 out of 5 stars A Sucessful Young Adult Book
Russell Freedman's, "In the Days of the Vaqueros" was written for young adults and in this endeavor it suceeds. It is a 70 page hard back book with numerous high quality paintings, sketches and photographs. He tells the story of the Vaqueros from the arrival of the Spanish in Mexico up to modern days. When I purchased the book, I was hoping to find a book written for adults. Yet, I was not dissapointed. The book's production values are very high and I really enjoyed the art work. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Gem of a Picture Book
My sister sent this beautiful book to my children for Christmas. It's a stunner with complex, rich sentences, lush illustrations, and a storyline that includes flashbacks, foreshadowing, frame tales, and developed characters. My children, ages 3 and 6, love it, too.My daughter noticed that the cover of the book resembles worn leather--she's right, and the effect is wonderful. We read the note from the author and learned new things about cowboys and settlers (which I won't give away here).Suffice it to say that from now on, we're sleeping with horse hair ropes around our bedding!

3-0 out of 5 stars Hayz the amayz
The book Cowbow Ghost is about a kid his name is Titus our Tim. He grows up with a wonderful mother and a bashful father. Him and his older brother Micah dont get along very good in the begining so Tim tries to earn his brothers respect when the go on there first cattle drive. I woul recommend this book to the younger era of children that need to learn to respect there elders. I think that the author Robert Newton Peck is trying to get to the reader that when someone ignores you are doesnt like you try to give them there space and earn there respect.

5-0 out of 5 stars good book
This book was a pretty good one. It had everything a great book should have in it like a father that pays no attention to the young one and the older one gets all of the attention. The young Titus reminds me of... well...me. I'm not trying to be personal, but this book interested me for just that simple fact. Thumbs up all the way.
