Wish we had more books like these!
This book shows a part of the animal and gives a clue. Then asks "What am I?".My 3 1/2 year old son loves this guessing game.There are about 6 animals - penguin, panda bear, skunk, zebra....and each has a couple of facts once the animals full picture is revealed.I wish there were more books along this line!

Caroline Arnold's "South American Animals" is a great way to introduce children to the amazing wildlife of this vast continent. Excellent Resource
I would highly recommend for readers from 9 to 99.Gives short synposis on all types of ocean facts and trivia; from where the deepest point of the ocean is on earth and HOW they measure it, to describing various types of jellyfish.Is jam packed with relevant and fun facts written in a style that ANYONE can easily understand and absorbe.Each topic(ex.seals)in discussed in one to two pages and gives you the relevant & fun facts without going into to much "scientific" detail and includes wonderful photographs.I have enjoyed this book so much, I am in the process of purchasing the whole series of Time Life Student Library of books. These books are books for students of life!

everybody loves big squids!
As a longtime fan of cephalopods in general and squids in particular, I was very impressed by this book. It's quite good at being accessible to readers of a fairly young age while not "dumbing down" the science at all. It has a variety of color plates, both from giant squid dissections (from the lab of Clyde Roper, one of the world's foremost experts on the giant squid) and from pictures of other squids in their natural environment. (Until recently, no one had ever seen or photographed a giant squid in its environment at all, so showing smaller squids is really the best way to illustrate these amazing animals... and Ms. Markle is careful to describe which pictures are giant squids and which are smaller ones.)
