This book teaches you every thing about the SharePoint in details it's a great help for the beginners.

Good, but impractical information
While covering a lot of infomration, this book still did not answer basic questions about how to use Sharepoint.It is geared more for the tech/programmer rather than the end-user.

Simply the best book on the subject.

Good, but problematic....
I just passed my 70-271 exam and I do believe this book was an important factor in my score. However this book is problematic.
Don't use this book as a primary study guide
There's a lot of unnecessary info in this book that you won't even see on the exam.The practice questions in the book are way too wordy and confusing.Exam Cram has helped me in the past, but not this time.

Don't buy this book, it's awful.

No information on synchronizing
While this book does explain how to manage contacts, there is absolutely no information on the most difficult part of Act!: How to synchronize. Do not buy this book if you are looking how share databases with other users. Although there is a chapter titled, "Sharing information with others", there is no mention of how to synchronize!

Act! is a program that is as good as you want it to be:
I've used Act! 6 as long as it has been out.Prior to that, I struggled through buggy earlier versions, going back ten years or so, or however long they've been out.For my use, contact management, I've looked at other programs and have not seen any program any better than Act!, but then again, I'm used to this program.If I had to do it all over again, I would still go with Act!, but I would read this Act! for Dummies book from cover to cover.For the first few years I only learned what I felt I had to learn. And, because of that my knowledge base was limited, which resulted in Act! having a limited value to me. I can tell you that most the people in our company that use Act! don't use it like they should. They don't recognize the program's power to make them more efficient and organized.Most people will continue to use their old methods of organization, i.e., hand written Day Timer methods, etc., will never actually use the appointment scheduling features, and then tell people that Act! simply isn't helping them much. Little do they know that Act! is the most powerful organizational program that they can buy, from my view, and all they need to do is learn it and use it. It took me time, but now I have six sales people under me, who travel.They all synchronize daily, so that I can schedule things for them to do, or they can flag notes for me to read, and we're always on top of our priorities.They can be in a motel in Lansing Michigan, and me in my office in Reno, Nevada, and we're all over our responsibilities as if we're in the same office. If something important slips through the crack, it's because someone isn't using their Act! program, or they aren't using it correctly.This program is like an incredibly powerful tool if put into the hands of someone who wants to succeed, while if put in the wrong hands it will not be used, it will be useless. The learning curve can take a very long time, as it did with me, simply because I didn't want to learn any more than I had to learn, to deal with my immediate needs.The power in this program can not be unleashed unless you do more than what I did, and take the time to learn it, and make sure you work it.Some of my sales people don't even open the program in the morning for hours. How can this program help these people? But, little by little, as they see how great this program can be, they are coming around.I recommend contacting an Act! consultant, and pay them a kings ransom if necessary, but learn this program faster thanyour competition can, simply by reading this book from cover to cover TWICE if you have to.And, every time you need to learn more, don't put it off, learn it now.Time is too valuable not to put this program to work for you.You can manager yourself, a crew of people, while also managing a powerful mass mail (or email) marketing program with this program if you are smart enough to learn this program as fast as you can.There is simply no other program with this kind of power that I've ever seen.I'm sold on this program again and again, as I find ways to take advantage of its horsepower.Managing a database of contacts couldn't be done at this level without Act!But, I don't give it five stars yet, until Act! decides to put on more traveling seminars, so I can send our sales people to them in our own town at least once a year.Act!, get working on that, will you?Then again, don't let my competition learn to use Act!In that respect, it's a secret weapon.

CUT TO THE CHASE AND BUY THIS BOOK
ACT6! for Dummies is not only extremely informative, it is fun and easy to read.It is a great starting place to learn the many aspects of the program and it is a great reference once you are using the program regularly. If you can figure out how to use this program to its fullest by using the book supplied by ACT, you are probably not in sales, you have a lot of extra time on your hands, and you love to watch paint dry.Unless you are selling real estate in South Florida and one of my competitors, buy ACT6! for Dummies and get yourself on track fast. ... Excellent reference
This book is very good for learning your way around Excel and its formulas.I am fairly comfortable in Excel and still found the book extremely useful.There are many formulas that are explained which I did not know existed that have made me much more efficient within the program.

Exceptional for exam prep
This book covers the topics not covered by the Microsoft self paced training kit, and is a great suppliment for it.If you already have a strong understanding of the basics (or if you have another guide for the basics) you can use this book to review the more difficult details.

Good book for passing the exam, poor book for WinForms and .NET in general
I'm giving this book 4 stars since I bought it to pass the exam. If you aren't a database/ado.net guru then you might want some supplementary material on use of the DataSet/DataAdaptor/SqlDataReader classes.

A very Good Companion in Preparations for Exam 70-306
This certification study-resource formed part of my revision portfolio for Exam 70-306 (Windows-based Application Development with VB.NET).
One of the Better Exam Crams
If you're taking the 70-306, this Cram is a must. It covers a LOT, much better than other Crams I've used (SQL Server 7, VB6, Windows 2000). I have an MCSD and MCDBA and am now going for MCSD.NET, so I've been through the ringer of books and prep software... this Cram is a winner. Read it ALL and do all the practice questions and you will be way ahead (no one book does it all). I did pass this morning with a 900, so I was quite eager to let folks know how much THIS Exam Cram book helped.
Enough to Pass the Exam
I passed 70-306 by using this book and the Transcender practice tests.I would not recommend this approach if you have never programmed Visual Basic before.I have been programming Visual Basic 6 for about 3 years and started with this test because I was comfortable with windows programming and Visual Basic.Please do not use this book to learn VB.NET since it really only covers the material necessary for passing the exam.Read more

Deeply insufficient
My IT background: ten years as a Unix admin, pursuing a Master's degree in Telecom. Extensive familiarity with desktop OS's and apps both as a user and LAN admin.
Use As Back Up to Your Other Study Guide "ONLY"
I will say that I am a fan of ExamCram2 Series of Study Guides, and that is what they are: "Study Guides". I was disappointed about the lack of material in this guide, do not rely on this book to pass the 70-272 Exam. If you pass the test just by reading this book you may have all ready had enough knowledge to pass. This book does not cover all the material in the exam by any means. The MeasureUp testing software is nice to get you use to the way some of the exam questions are. I would use this book to just go over questions and answers before you do a final write. I highly suggest to get Microsoft 70-272 Training Kit if you are new to alot of the material covered by this exam.

Needs a little more meat.
I recently became involved in a project to setup a course for the 2 new MCDST exam, 70-271 and 70-272. These new exams appear to give you an entry in the Microsoft arena with out requiring a full blown MCSE track. The book takes the finer points of the objectives and breaks it down in to 9 chapters.

Poor Service All the Way Around!
First of all, it took 2 weeks to get to me. Secondly, they sent the wrong book.Third, when I received the correct book, it did not have the CDRom with it.Fourth, I've emailed them about the missing CDRom, and I haven't received a response.What is going on?

Worst accounting software I've ever encountered
This software was provided free with my Payroll Accounting textbook.The textbook itself is very well written, and is easy enough to follow.The software, however, is another story. Integrated Accounting 3e by Klooster & Allen
