Not bad as a reference
This books deals with all kinds of manipulators. It has a good amount of math but looks not enough and not easy to understand (I did not go into the math details). I think this book would be a good reference in your library where it has a good amount of advanced information about manipulators.

For decades, physics and engineering undergraduates have used texts on classical mechanics that often contained what some students might consider to be abstruse ideas, with little everyday usage. But this book on robotics is a worthy rejoinder. It can be regarded as an advanced text in classical mechanics.

Excellent insight, without being boring
This is an excellent book, and it helped me a lot in understanding the basic techniques of hacking.
Awsome Work
This is one of thosw rear books that get five stars from me. The book is very straigntforward: it is short, it is free of unnecessary explanations, it is pretty detailed and well organized. The book assumes you know quite a bit about computers in general and low-level OS organization in particular. It gives a plethora of interesting examples to try out, so even if you're not particularly interested in the low-level detailes of how a certain trick works, you still remain in the zone by simply applying those examples.

Dissappointing. Good subject, poorly covered.
I was very disappointed with this book. It covers a very useful subject, but it is not well written. Almost every section was done better in other books covering the same material. It will be hard to prove how bad this book is, since on the surface everything seems to be there. However, as somebody who have read many books on this subject it was painful to read this one. It is more like a cut and paste job putting together well-known material without any new insights. Excellent Book for Beginner and Experienced Engineers
Well organized book that does not skip on details. It explains in a clear and concise manner transmission line issues such as reflections, the why's and how's of matching impedance, and crosstalk among others.

Not an Agile book
Sorry, but I can not recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an agile way of handling schema evolution.
Bringing the Mountain to Mohammed
Much more beautiful code is being written as a result of Fowler's Refactoring; the Gang of Four's Patterns; Beck's Test Driven Development; etc. Unfortunately the database development community either hasn't applied these principles & practices or hasn't bothered to read about them.
Pity that this book is needed
First let me say that Messrs. Ambler and Sadalage did a very good job with this book.The database design advice is generally good, reflecting good practices:Make sure that your columns are in the right table, for example.Rename columns and views to make them more meaningful.Divide and combine tables so that they more closely represent their meaning in the application.

Great book for beginners...
This is one of the 2 texts we've had for our data structures course. I'm not sure what the other book is, because this one was so good. It covered the material in a clear and precise way. I even have a copy of this book today, for further reference!

Great introduction to the subject, wonderful teaching..
I seriously like this book. It's explaining is close to crystal clear to me when I read it, and the algorithms listed (in pseudo-code) take it to a practical level.

A great starter guide to writing a compiler
I recently used this book to supplement the Dragon book in a Compilers course. I found this book so much easier to read and understand. They do a great job of laying out the basics and introducing you to compiler design.
Terrible for Starters
This book was the textbook for an undergraduate course on compilers.Let me make it short:I never read it after reading the first chapter.The authors may be top experts on compilers but they shouldn't be writing books. Another book written in 1982 (compilers, principles, techniques and tools) saved my life for this class.If you are a beginner "do not buy this book".

It's about communication not design
This book does not cover design of the interface well at all. Excellent Practicle tips
This book was the best out of several others that I have read realted to usability engineering or UCD. It had several practical examples and stories attached to each topic. Its excellent for starter as well as proffesionals who are working at companies and have to justify several things. Several formates for reports and other resources are available for conducting a good Users and Task Analysis. More so its really easy and interesting to read with all the stories and the diagrams.

Read it before you need it.
If there is one strong message in this book, it is: Go talk to the people who will use your product. It's an important message. Software designers and writers spend too much time with each other developing clever tricks, while the poor user, often left to self-train with a poorly written manual, gives up in frustration. The authors follow their own advice--in addition to telling you how to conduct a site visit to the end users, there are clear instructions (based on experience) on planning a visit, structuring questions, how to make the site visit useful for both the analyzers and the users, and figuring out what the user said and what it means about the product.There are reminders about release forms and examples of the forms themselves.Case studies help make the points clear and undestandable. More for mathematicians than computer scientist
This book introduces the concepts of kernel-based methods and focuses specifically on Support Vector Machines (SVM). It is hard to read and a good background in mathematic is clearly needed. The book has a strong emphasis on SVM starting from the very first line of text. Concepts are well explained, although equations are not clear. The notation doesn't facilitate the reading at all. The book covers linear as well as kernel learning. The kernel trick is well described. It is easy to understand ideas behind SVM while reading the corresponding chapter. Finally a small chapter on SVM applications is proposed. Unfortunately, it only contains typical SVM applications (i.e. standard problems).
A little dry.
The book is a little dry at times. Also, I didn't get a very clear idea of how to select kernel functions, which seems pretty important.

Not even close to an intro...
Oh Puhleeeezzzzz... How is your vector math??? Remember your linear algebra well?Do you have a background in SVM's? Intuitively able to suck out of thin air the meaning of the Gamma co-efficient as applied to svm's?? You've read all the background papers and remember your formal logic???? No?? too bad..your out of luck..

Out of date .... not useful anymore
this books needs two things desparately:

Even four years after its publishing date, I've found Sterne's book on Web Metrics helpful. For the most part, he's focused on business metrics applied to the web, which shields his work from obsolescence for the most part. However, when he gets into topics such as CRM and also in other places throughout the book, it feels as if he could have used a bit more editing, as he rambles and jumps between topics in a way that is more confusing than helpful. HTML for Dummies NOT for Dummies
I ordered this book along with Web Design for Dummies expecting to get started writing simple web pages.These books are not for dummies.It offers very little explanation of html tags; it doesn't offer pros or cons of the tag usage vs. another tag; examples are not near the explanation-you need to open the cd to view the eample in question.It spent too much time promoting tools and services outside of the "Dummy" concept.

An Essential Source for Robust 3D Graphics Engine Design
I have not yet been able to purchase the second edition of this book.However, since it is a refinement of the first edition, I feel that I am somewhat competent to review this later version of Lengyel's text on this knowledge of the fundamental chapters which are included in both editions.
Even better than the first edition
I gave the first edition of this book a 5 star rating, so considering that the second edition provides updates to the original as well as four new chapters, it's no surprise that the second edition earns a 5 star rating as well.
This book is fantastic
This book is great. Its material is well explained, the topics covered are complete (for the most part), and the examples make sense. It is a fantastic reference that should be on the shelf of any professional game programmer or aspiring game programmer. However, this book isn't a hand holding guide to making "cool" games, as some reviewers expected it to be. There is no single book for that. There are so many topics to cover, it would be impossible to put them all into one text. Please don't be fooled by reviews from non-professionals, as this book is a must have. I was disappointed that the book was really focused on how to create reusable elements that go into product information such as data sheets, marketing collateral, technical support, etc.It focused on auditing the content, finding the reusability elements across departments, then designing an appropriate hierarchy on top of a content management system.It assumed that content drives the information architecture when in most applications it is the business processes that drive the architecture.It ignored the majority of enterprise content like email, word docs, design specs, forms, etc. that make up the real information content of the enterprise.Read more

Interesting cons, but repetitive and ego-trippy
Mitnick has his own reputation to live up to with this book, which sets a pretty high bar for the audience who knows him as the "World's Most Notorious Hacker."Unfortunately, while he knows the material cold, his skills as an author are less stellar.
Very interesting book
This book seriously highlights the stupidity of people in the world. It shows how clever people go very far by asking basic questions to get what and where they want. The samples are entertaining and worth reading. This is some great education for the naive people of the world.

Entertaining but weak in writing skill and quality of advice
I enjoyed the first more-than-half of the book which dealt with various kinds of social engineering attacks.Each was at least plausible and usually interesting.I was constantly aware, however, that the titles of the chapters only vaguely correlated to the examples given: there must be a better way to structure the content (possibly starting with defining various kinds of attacks then identifying those techniques as they come up in the examples.)

A Great Starting Place
If you're just getting started with Autocad this is one of the two books I sincerely recommend. Use this one first. But at the same time get a copy of AutoCAD 2007 Bible, by Ellen Finkelstein.

Great Book to Use When Writing an SSL app.
If you have little or no experience with SSL, or OpenSSL, get this book. It explains the principles behind SSL, and then goes on to cover OpenSSL. The companion website opensslbook.com contains the latest examples.
openssl programming cleanly explained
The book starts with a general introduction of encryption in general, then SSL protocol in general. Then openssl command line interface is introduced with some easy to follow examples. Later openssl programming is explained in detail.
