Weak attempt from Curtis
First off, I must say I'm a big Curtis Frye enthusiast. He has penned some extraordinarily helpful computer books in the past. But, quite frankly, this is not one of them. Not to push the envelope, but, Curtis I'm deeply disappointed by your less than helpful latest effort(if you call it that). I wanted to learn about advanced filters, HLOOKUP, And VLOOKUP in Excel, but came away learning absolutely nada. While the individual Step-by-Step books are great, this insipid collaboration failed to advance my skills, let alone help me one iota.

Better than nothing butnot worth the Money
I purchased this book, the day I bought the professional edition of Microsoft office for my XP computer. I had previously used, on occassion, Microsoft office for the Win95 system. Very good for beginners
This is an excellent book for beginners!Even if you think you know how use programs like Word and Access, this book is sure to show you a few new things.All examples and lessons are very easy and small (for ease of mental "digestion") and give you instructions Step-by-Step.Even if you mess up somewhere, they tell exactly what is supposed to happen, thus you can see where your problem is.Read more

do you really need to upgrade to this 2007 version?
Murray skims through the many incremental changes in MS Office 2007. Given that Microsoft has hundreds of programmers that maintain their Office suite, it should be no surprise that the book has plenty of new material.

Want to learn all about Exchange and Outlook?
I have to disagree with the reviewer who says there is not a lot of depth in this book.Sure, the author does leave out some topics but he clearly states that they can either really mess up Outlook or that they are not supported by Microsoft which can get you into trouble down the road.Otherwise, this book is the bible for Exchang and Outlook development bar none.I origianlly got it to learn how to integrate our corporate CRM system with Outlook (our sales reps live in Outlook!).The book is well written, has lots of samples and gave me the kick start I needed to get my job done.

Very disappointing
This is a good example of a book written by an author who just wanted to "write" and finish a book. I doubt if the author really knows the subject.
Not what I expected
After purchasing this book and skimming through all of it while reading the sections I was interested in more thoroughly (VBScript and Custom Forms), and then going through everything a 2nd time, I was extremely disappointed.

Excel lent
A bit pricy, but otherwise a nice selection of Excel Tips and tools. In my mind the most useful are those which get around Excels seeming arbitrary limitations like #23,24,25,92 etc. but #42 is worth the price of the book if you haven't figured out a workaround. (it was interesting to contrast how the authors approached this, with my own solution). Not a beginners book or an "intro for Dummies" this is aimed at the user burgeoning on Expert.
Excel for those are a step above beginners.
First off this book shouldn't be called 100 tips, it should be 99, it turns out that #12 and #61 are the same tip.Anyways the book isn't bad if your looking for something to help you become more than a beginner excel users.Some of the tips are aren't that great but I'd say for the most part they are quite helpful.The book isn't a bad thing to have at your desk for a quick reference.If you really know excel then this book is not for you and you should probably think about getting a good vba book.

Some good tricks, but....
Good book, I was definitly able to immediately use one or two tricks.If you dont know excel well, this isnt for you.Definitly for the much more advanced users.The best thing is that it specifically helps with the things that many of us recognize as "limitations" of excel.It would be great if they had an online resource for their code and examples, but they dont. Better than online help
I've been fiddling with Excel for a couple of months now, and this book has made it easier to understand.

David Weeks... Book Review
So, you have flexed your credit card, and purchased (or upgraded to) Microsoft Office v. X for Macintosh. After all, it is the Mac equivalent of the biggest, baddest, most popular office productivity suite in the PC world. You come home from your dealer, or get the package from the delivery truck driver, and rip the box open, only to find a CD-ROM disk and packing slip. A "Way Cool" book

A Great Way to Get Started
These Visual guides are great books for the beginner to get started with a software package. They have an absolute minimum of words and are profusely illustrated with a half dozen or so pictures, drawings, and illustrations on each page. About the only words are the captions to the visual aids.

A good guide for beginners
This book would be good for beginners.This book, unfortunately, focuses too much on basic computer functions and doesn't give enough detail about building databases using Access.It is easy to read and follow, but entirely too basic for most users, especially those already familiar with Access and what it can do.

Not useful at all
I normally like the Dummies series of books, but even for a Dummies book, this was just far too elementary.The first 65 pages (4 chapters) are a complete waste, as they are written for people who have never used a computer before.As a whole, this book only teaches you about 5-10% of what Access can do - both overall and on each of the very few topics that it does touch upon.There are constant annoying references to how "nerdy" any relevant information is.Instead of explaining this "nerdy" info in an easy to understand matter (which I thought was the point of a Dummies book), the author just mentions that it exists, makes a bad joke about it, and then ignores it and moves on.
Complicated
I bought this book because I've always been satisfied with the Dummies series.I consider myself fairly proficient with many of the MICROSOFT program (Word, Excel, Power Point), and I even took an Access class several years ago. With that in mind, I thought I'd have no problem picking up some of the basics of the program with the help of this book.Boy, was I wrong.The book is full "rules" in a list and directions that use vocabulary with which most new users of Access would be unfamiliar. I haven't finished it yet, but thus far, the author doesn't give you any opportunities to practice the information she's giving you.Any teacher knows that without doing something that you've been taught, you haven't really learned it.I remember years ago, even the manuals that came with the computers had exercises for readers to practice each newly taught skill. Here, in a book that's supposed to be teaching us a new and complex program, there are no opportunities to determine whether you've really understood a concept.Read more

Good for a real Dummy
I bought this book for a client who uses Outlook for email.I've ready quite a bit of it myself and so far, everything we've needed to figure out has been covered in the book. Outlook is complicated, this book is simple and worth it
Outlook is a great, albeit complex, program.It is impossible for a book (especially a Dummies book) to be an authoritative text on the program.But Outlook for Dummies goes a long way to giving a user or even an administrator of a mid-sized operation essential information to get started and use Outlook effectively.For advanced features, I depended on MS Press Book "Running Outlook 2000".Dummies has a wide breadth of information which is simple, readable and applicable to practical use of MS Outlook in an office environment.
