SBS Consultant's Bible
This book is NOT for a network administrator, but it is a must-have for anybody who deploys and supports SBS installations. Covers just about everything except how to install and configuure RRAS to replace RAS. Apart from that it gives you a solid fundation on which to build your SBS expertise. Note Microsoft posted an errata on their Web site.

I wouldn't recommend this book..
I purchased this book to be used as a reference book.I already had our SBS up and running (and even if I didn't, I don't think this book would have helped too much).The book goes on and on about the features of Small Business Server and how easy it is for the administrator to set up and maintain (the book does this for at least a hundred pages).I believe knowing about all of the features are important, but the book lacks in not showing the reader how to troubleshoot and inplement most of them.Some of the features that I was trying to implement were advanced but not out of the ordinary.This book didn't halp me at all. This book is a must for IT professionals that have to implement SBS.It will help you especially if you need to modify SBS for your specific implementation, such as changing the default IP addresses, setting uprouters, etc. ... Read more

Absolutely essential to BackOffice Administration
As an SMS administrator, the BORK has paid for itself ten-fold

Backoffice 4.5 Resource Kit
This kit is a bit expensive considering that most of the content is available online. But if your time is valuable or you like to have printed copy to look at it's worth it.What I found most helpful is the examplesand information that comes on the CD.

No point in buying this
Thanks to Microsoft Press's bundling of these 4 resource kits together, you may find yourself spending $200 for content you can already get for free. I only wanted the SQL RK, and all of the printed contents are alreadyavailable as FREE whitepapers from MS web site. The tools are moderatelyinteresting, but not, in my opinion, worth the entire cost. Read more

Good book -- sadly dated
Really a very good book but unfortunately it hasn't been updated to version 4.5. So if you're still with the firdst version 4 the book is fine. When the 4.5 version of the book ever comes out -- buy it. Nothing elseanywhere near as good.

The worst computer book if wriitten
Save your money for something worthwhile.The book reads like a warning label.Half the book tells you not to adjust the settings.If your buying the book to learn how to configure MBSBS you will be very disappointed.

Not for version 4.5!
The biggest problem with this book is that it is written for version 4.0.Because of all the changes that were made to version 4.5, especially in the area of Internet connectivity, this book is not all that helpful and Iwasted my money on it. ... Read more

Not too satisfied with this book
Hi, I am sorry to say that I did not find this book very helpful in any way.I learned very little and most of the things that were shown had very few examples to go by.Real-life problems and situations were notrepresented. A good portion of the book focused in Windows NT 3.5 which hadlittle appeal to me.For a more advanced user, this book may be helpful,but for a beginning and high intermediate user, this book is of little orno use. ... Useful, but 4 competing books make a better buy
I consider myself lucky that this was clearance priced. . . at my local [computer super-groovy store]. An OK reference
Some of the chapters are heavily Microsoft biased.I was expecting more of a reference manual so I was disappointed.And even the reference chapters aren't that clearly written--though some are. Great for Beginners

Don�t get fooled with the book�s title! No coverage for NT 4
A good overview reference for Microsoft BackOffice, except for one detail not mentioned anywhere in AMAZON.COM: This book only covers NT Server Version 3.51. How disapointed and fooled I felt when I received the book and looked at the window in an example and the small words at the end of back cover. It mainly does not cover any issues of NT 4 (Server/Workstation) or SQL Server 6.5. What a shame!

Not your typical reference book
This is an aptly-titled book. Although it contains some technical information and how-tos, its focus is much more on selling and planning projects and developing a successful consulting practice. It should not be counted on for troubleshooting or technical reference. The advice on how to be a consultant is sound. However, I am not convinced that SBS is the best choice for small business technology.

Required Reading for SBS
A great reference.Has planning templates, cutomization info, and a lot of other things that make implementing, and billing an SBS install easier.

A Great door stop that covers all the essentials.
I've referenced the book many times, including the 6 other books included on the CD-Rom in HTML format, which is very easy to carry around. It helped our I.T department setup all of the Microsoft BackOffice products from the ground up. We've used it as a reference point for most "How Do I..." questions. Addresses real business concerns. Not for the TechnoNerds!

Total waste of money
This book is obsolete - it doesn't cover the SBS 4.5. So forget it

Several hundred pages of fluff...
If you have no idea what you're doing get this book.It does a good job of summarizing the apps in SBS.If you want hard core, real-world examples and tips look somewhere else...if I knew where I'd tell ya.

re-write of the user manual
While a nobel attempt to provide add't documentation resources for us SBS users, the SBS Bible book didn't go much beyond the manual and other Microsoft-centric resources.For example, some of the RAS discussion wasdarn near copied from Microsoft sources...and many of us know RAS is adiaster..I'm concerned the author didn't have hard won war stories to sharewith us readers... ...
