4-0 out of 5 stars NOVICE TO INTERMEDIATE
Very good book for the price.Definitely the buy for someone who has some autocad background. However, I did find the book to be somewhat to broad in its examples.I think the author would have done much better if he had limited his scope of example to either residential or commercial. The residential examples were not very specific and were only understood if one read the commercial examples first.Being that I only design residential, it is a great resource in describing the different tools and commands available in the program.

5-0 out of 5 stars A tremendous help
My firm recently upgraded from 2002 to 2006 and it's been an ordeal. We've decided to use the project navigator's full functionallity and this book has been a wonderfull reference for the methodology behind it.I'd recommend this book to anyone doing the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent tutorial
As usual, Paul's latest Mastering ADT book is a must-have for anyone needing to learn how to use ADT in a real-world scenario. Rather than just another useless listing of commands and features, it is a process-oriented series of tutorials that walk users through example projects with plenty of coverage of the "why" as well as the "how to". As an ADT instructor and consultant, I recommend it to all of my students and customers. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Too much information
The book covers tons and tons of topics, which is good for a person with no background in animation writing. But the topics written about, from dialogue to outlining, come with no context, no examples to back up what the author is talking about. Wright writes "Keep your characters consistent. They must be true to their core traits and to what has made them who they are." An example from a current or classic cartoon is direly needed. This happens throughout the book. Under the subheading Conflict Can Reveal Information in the dialogue chapter, she writes "conflict in dialogue...is a good way to get information out and keep it interesting." How? Once again this book screams for examples.
2-0 out of 5 stars Typical "Mainstream" book.
This book is abit of a bore and turnoff with all it tips and trixs to create scripts that will please the "buyer". It is colored with a tone of a moral panic that is typical for experts that clame to know what people want and don't want. I think it is safe to say that if the creators of "South Park" or "The Simpson" would have read this book and followed it, thoose series would have never been made - maybe not even Bambi with its horrid shooting of bambis mother?
5-0 out of 5 stars Animation Writing and Development : From Script Development
Jean Ann Wright's "Animation Writing and Development : From Script Development to Pitch", is a comprehensive and well written book, on the subject.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great learning tool
This book is a great start on your journey into the world of using Photoshop 5. You will be amazed at how easy the software is to use when you use the examples in this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this book!
This book is amazing! I got it on a friday and by saturday night I had finished it. The book is not short, mind you, I just couldn't put it down. I no trouble with any of the tutorials. I breezed right through them! Not only does it give you training on how to use the software, it also offers tutorials on basic editing techniques. Despite what other reviewers might have said, this book's CD is easy to navigate, I had no trouble finding any of the files, and if you don't know what "fading titles" are you obviously made the wrong decision purchasing this book and the software it refers to. I had a blast with the book and tutorials, and rushed to purchase the AfterEffects Classroom in a Book shortly after reading it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
This book is excellent for beginners (as is the 6.x version). It's chock full of tutorials. I wouldn't recomend it for the advanced user, however. I believe that the "Bible" series is appropriate for more advanced users. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The resource I keep coming back to...
This book is the most useful one I've found on the subject.Design books of all stripes (document-design focused or otherwise) have a tendency to provide "principles" without ever providing real support for said principles.Books will be loaded with recommendations that may or may not be well supported by data, quantified or at least well documented study results, etc.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not what the title explains
This book could be cut off to more than half pages it is now. The information is over explained and reader gets bored.
5-0 out of 5 stars The benchmark in its field
The reviewers who say this book is wordy and over-long just don't get it. This is not a "how to do it in five easy lessons" handbook. If you find a book like that - burn it! Books like that are usually self-published by amateurs who don't understand the complexities of the field, and they are worse than useless. In fact, they are often filled with advice that has been so oversimplified that it is actually wrong. You CANNOT learn document design in five easy lessons.

4-0 out of 5 stars Can't have too many references
As with any sophisticated application AutoCAD 2006 has many hidden depths. This book is not here to teach how to apply AutoCAD or even understand the disciplines that it applies to.This reference is and does what it says. For the seasoned AutoCAD user 2006 can be quite a shocker, especially with its robust choices on how to use the tool quickly and effectively. 2006 is a great leap over previous versions. 2007 is ion the cusp however other than expanded solids improvement most of the commands have just been made easer to repeat. This reference will be good for some time.

4-0 out of 5 stars CAD 06 QR
This book was deeply informative and easy to use. I can find any command just by knowing my ABC's.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book is not for designers
The book covers many interesting topics, but rather superficially. It tells you about the various aspects related to design of automatic machinery, but not enough about anything so that you can actually apply it in designing machinery.Even the case studies do not get to technical details and are mainly descriptive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Tool
I use ACAD 200 daily. My copy of this book is quite dog eared and probably needs to be replaced.I am almost constantly thinking of ways that I could get my ACAD 2000 program to work better with me.This book isextremely helpful for me to do that.I have found this book to be laid outwell and has a VERY extensive index so that I can find out how to do what Iwant to do.I recommend very strongly that anyone that uses ACAD 2000 on aregular basis to have this book in their library and within reach.

2-0 out of 5 stars The "For Dummies" editors need to learn how to write!!!
In my pursuit to learn AutoCAD as quickly as I can, I have purchased the three main tutorial books for AutoCAD 2004.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book
AutoCAD is one of the most complex and powerful programs I have ever seen. It's necessary to understand some potentially intimidating concepts, like paper space, xrefs and plotting procedures. After reading previous reviews of this book, I suspect the reviewers may have been disillusioned when they didn't understand everything about the program after reading part of the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Supplement
I took an Autocad class and learned the basics of the program. This book helped my knowledge to grow beyoond the basics and helped me to use the 3d portion of the program. It is a great resource!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide!
I have worked with previous AutoCad versions along with Desktop 3.3 and this book made the transition from those programs to Desktop 2005 a lot easier.2005 has so many shortcuts and components and this book gives step-by-step examples that really speed up the process.I recommend this book to anyone who is advancing to the new Desktop 2005 software.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!!
If you're an architect that already knows AutoCAD well, this is a good book to transition into ADT. It covers the basic structure of ADT and setting up projects in step by step tutorials for both residential and commercial projects.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book depending upon your interest
I do agree with the previous reviewer that this book does not have practical advice in terms of performing graphic design related duties. There are plenty of books out there that you can acquire that will outline the process of designing, design elements etc... such as "The Elements of Graphic Design" by Alex. W. White.
2-0 out of 5 stars Missed the mark
This might be a good book for someone who don't have any design experience. I was looking for direction in how to begin as a novice with some training rather than starting from scratch. 4-0 out of 5 stars Not for Beginners
I can understand why many people who bought this book thinking that it would be usefull for learning how to use SPICE or learning how to design power supplies were dissappointed. Basso is definitely not for beginners. The book assumes you have a fundamental knowledge of SPICE and electronics. He provides a generous list of papers and books which the beginner can use to come up to speed on the various complex principals of power supply design.
1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money
There is a lot of clever advertising surrounding this book, but I found this book utterly useless. I was expecting to see a lot of sample code and examples of the various topologies: buck , boost, forward etc. If you interested in learning the spice language then I recommend one of the books by Muhammad H. Rashid, instead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Probably not worth your money
I got very little out of this book.I think it's far too shallow to be of any practical use. There is a slight amount of theory in the first two chapters, but after that it's just a bunch of "recipes" for simulating the various topolgies. These "recipes" don't contain much useful information. If you're a beginner, you'll get lost because so much is left out.If your already an experienced power supply designer, you probably already know everything covered here. The CD has some good demo software, but you can download that stuff yourself for free. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars It was ok.
I used this book to get proficient in autocad 2006. It was tedious going through the first four chapters ( 1 week and then another for the rest of the book). There are probably other books as good. The book has slight mistakes, but all books do(on p112 on a image, arc explanation confusing just experiment). I'm thinking that an instructional DVD would be better. Make sure you download the examples from the internet for the book. It will clear up the explanations.
