The Finkelstein Bible series -as reference books for AutoCAD- stand head and shoulder above the others, the depth, the accuracy and the conscientious effort is unmatched. If a supplement book for exercises at the same technical level is published, we will definitely have an undisputed knock out.

A Great CAD Resource!
This book is clear, concise, and well-written. It covers everything I've needed to know about AutoCAD, and probably everything I'll ever want to know. Explanation of the more difficult concepts is thorough and complete, and the exercises are very helpful, keyed as they are to practice drawings on the included CD-ROM. A great reference...structured by topic, so it's easy to find what you need.

Great book for both novice and experienced users..

Still the King
This book was published four years ago and still is by far the most comprehensive tome on TS available in the market. A combo with truSpace FX Creations ought to make it a more useful source of advice and information.

A great book for game programmers too!
Programmers who want to write their own game programs are often stuck developing their own graphics as well. TrueSpace4 allows you to produce complex 3D mesh objects to be loaded directly into DirectX game applications. I am by no means an artist but I was very pleasently surprised with the great job Frank Rivera does at giving the reader clear and easy to follow tutorials allowing even non-pro artists to produce fantastic results. I highly recommend this book to game programmers and computer artists alike.

I'm sure I've seen these before
And I have.Frank used to run a tutorials site which contained a large portion of the content of this book FOR FREE.Many of the techniques for character modeling were outdated years before this book was even published.The section on special effects using spheres is especially disheartening, since trueSpace has had many plugins available for some time that were created for particle effects and other special effects.This is a decent book for a beginner, but to REALLY get to know the program, and if you can get a hold of it, pick up Peter Plantecs' trueSpace2 Bible.Since most of the features in trueSpace2 are in trueSpace 4, you can get that book cheaper and it's written MUCH better, and many of the tutorials in Inside trueSpace4 were written FOR trueSpace 2, you'd be better off ... Excellent Book for Beginners, Useful Reference for Test Bench Development
This book is an excellent book for beginners to VHDL.It is written in such a way that it presents the development and nuances of the VHDL language sequentially and ties some of the history of the language into the examples. It is very useful when you want to know why the syntax works the way it does. My only criticism is that it can be difficult to find examples when using it as a desk reference.I often found myself thinking, "I remember reading how to do this, but I can't seem to find it now." I would highly recommend this book if you can dedicate the time to read it cover-to-cover as it makes things easier to find when you need them.
Very good
I recently used this text for a design class using VHDL.The text is easy to read, has a good flow from topic to topic, and contains many useful examples that help explain the issues.

Becoming very well worn
The downside to technology is that you have to try and keep pace, expecially in CAD technology.This book helps to make the learning curve not quite so steep.It is laid out like the other "Quick Reference" books for ACAD, in alphabetical order, with numeric commands (usually 3d) after 'Z' Perfect reference

Excellent Tutorial Book
I just started using ProE at work and this book was very helpful in teaching me the fundamentals of Pro-E 2000i2.The click by click examples are easy to follow.The book shows you the most common commands that you'll use when you start designing your first parts.I recommend you practice some of the projects in this book before you take the week long "Fundamentals of Pro Engineer" course offered by PTC.The fast paced course can become very frustrating if you are completely new to ProE.This book also has very few text errors.The book's CD demonstrations are also helpful.Overall, I am very satisfied with my first ProE book.

I bought this book for a class
I am pretty good at AutoCAD 14. Some projects at work use AutoCAD. However we have an expanding repertoire of Pro-engineer files. I do not need to use Pro-engineer, as I am a Sr. Systems Analyst in the Information Systems department. However I occasionally need to converse with R&D. this book makes it much easier to communicate without having to translate.

Big firm (is there such a thing?) oriented
Ahh...Paul is the master of big thinking.I am by myself with a draftsman, using email.I only used 5% of the stuff, however it was great. The BEAST ADT shines, this is the Rolls polish, someday (when I die) I will put it all in place. :)

CADD Manager gives AOK
this is one case where "It was worth the wait!" Until now the only source i trusted for getting answers for how to deploy ADT3_3 was the Autodesk Newsgroups. What Paul has done here to collect his vast experience and knowledge of the product into a complete thought and then run it through the Autodesk gamut of approval is nothing short of tremendous. Advanced Text--Start Somewhere Else First
I spent an hour reviewing this book in a bookstore so I cannot give a complete review. I am presently re-learning AutoCAD; when I knew it, it was known as AutoCAD 11: Windows and AutoCAD did not play together yet.

Autodesk Press help files in print
Doing architecture, I now carry 6 books and my laptop, and this is not one of them.most of the info in this book is in the ACAD help system.The examples drive you to use them, but the examples are not nearly as complete as the tutorials in other books, and are not kick started by the tutorial CD found with other books.
Hit the deck running
My previous use of AutoCAD was 14. I am an old timer at dabbling with AutoCAD form version 3 on. However I was stunned to find the progress made with 2006 and would not want to attempt without reading and trying the examples in this book first.
Perfect learning resource
This one book is a perfect resource to learn a software like AutoCAD. Everytime we start AutoCAD, we can find something new, and this one book has the explaination of everything we find new. The examples are just perfect to teach the concept given in the theory. The 2D part is very well planned and so is the 3D part. A beginners guide with nowhere to go
If you have access to AutoCAD but have no reason to use it on a professional level this book may be fine. If you are purchasing this and already own a couple other manuals to look things up in, it's ok for the humor. The book is not large enough to touch on all the facets of AutoCAD and the massive program it has become. If you intend to make a living with AutoCAD look elsewhere. I watched a co-worker attempt to jump a couple revs with this book. He was better off with his previous knowledge than after three days with this book.

Waste of Shelf Space
The author starts the book by telling you how great the book is and how clear and straightforwared he's going to be... and to be honest, it does indeed start out quite well (about 3 pages worth?).But it became evident early on that he "lost his legs" as he continued to write the book.His examples quickly degraded into useless collections of codings - they simply did not work as advertised.Worse than this, when he's trying to make a point, he provides examples that are far too complicated for what he's attempting to illustrate (but remember, they usually don't work anyhow).Bottom line: Snoopy has more writing talent than this guy.(...)Trust me on this one -(...)

Excellant book
I am very very pleased with this book. It is exactly what I have been looking for. I first purchased a DVD by the same author called*Photoshop for Architects* which I felt was so well done that I decided to buy the book. Having both is a real asset for they work in unison. Buying the book and the DVD, in my opinion, is a necessity. Each stands alonebut they compliment each other. The DVD provides comprehensive coverage without going into every small detail. The book parallels the same information on the DVD but goes into greater detail. I am Architecturally educated but with limited computer experience and I have only recently purchased a first ADOBE product which is ADOBE CS.I imagine this book would be an excellent tool for anyone new to PS no matter what the intended use of PS will eventually be. The book starts with some general, but relevant, tech info without scientific overload. It step by step moves one through a real project from beginning to end so you learn most of the tools, how to set things up, various ways of accomplishing the same things and what to do in finishing out a project. I consider the presentation style to be superb for learning.

The title looks good but the book content is questionable
The book is unnecessarily long and wordy.The title is chosen to make the book markettable but the content and learning aspect is pathetic. A lot of pages are wated by explaining obvious acronyms and telling unnecessary stories. Overall, a waste of money and time.
