AutoCAD 2000 Bible
Having purchased AutoCAD for Dummies 2000, and AutoCAD for Architecture 14, this book makes you roll up your sleeves and start working productively from the second chapter. It's written for both the beginner and intermediate AutoCAD user. The CD has various small excercises to complete and provides the user with a wealth of time-saving steps. For anyone using AutoCAD 2000, whether you are a student or professional, this book is excellent. It has saved me literally hours of frustration. The book addresses both architectural and mechanical/electrical diciplines. The plotting chapter is exhaustive, and anyone using AutoCAD knows how important the proper procedures are for final output. Highly recommend this book.

This is a great Reference book. It is verry straight forward.Verryindepth. The chapters on 3d modeling are extremly helpful.

Great Tutorial
This is a great book for someone looking to learn Autocad.I had absolutely no previous knowledge of Autocad and have completed several floor plans using the program in a short time.It took me about a week to get through the tutorial (I spent a lot of time with it) but can now efficiently navigate the program and understand many of its functions.

OK Book
I'm a beginning AutoCAD user, so you can take my comments as you wish.After reading this book, I felt that I VAGUELY knew what AutoCAD was about.As an active-learner, this book fell WAY short.It gives you description after description of what features are included in AutoCAD, with VERY LITTLE, if any, exercises to test the reading just completed.Honestly, if an AutoCAD book has anything less than 600 pages, I'd think twice about getting it.(Think of Noam Chomsky.There's NO WAY he would be able to fully explain, or complete a full argument of, say, US Imperialism in 10 minutes on an NBC segment).While I basically understood what, for example, a line or an arc was, in no way, after reading this book, was I able to put together a tree-house or a detailed cabinet section.After I completed this book, I went directly to the AutoCAD 2005 Bible.THAT book is how you should write an AutoCAD book.It gives you the lingo, in lay-man's terms, and then immediately follows with examples of how to do what she just told you.She (the author) gets the formula just right.Though I'm barely beginning with AutoCAD, my gut feeling is that this book should be a desk reference for Advanced users, NOT Beginners/Dummies.Note: In one section, the author describes how to multiply one number by another (more or less).If you have trouble doing a task such as this, reconsider AutoCAD or prepare for some looooooooooooooooong nights.Don't let AutoCAD for Dummies fool you.You have to have a good amount of intelligence, in my opinion, to figure this stuff out.

Quality book
This book is a great reference book. The book highlights all the information worth knowing in a compact form. The only thing that did not make this book perfect is that it did not come with a tutorial on how to do some of the demonstration. Still a great book worth buying even if you are just starting autocad.

Good reference maybe
I'm not sure what sort of person would find this book useful.If you want to LEARN about Bezier or B-Spline curves, then I don't think this book is for you.The authors' stated goal was to "provide a solid and uniform derivation" of Bezier and B-Spline properties.I believe that they have succeeded, almost every factoid I've seen in other books is included and proved rigorously.What is NOT included is any sort of meaningful explanation of the concepts.The material is presented at a breakneck pace, with everything presented exactly once, and most often in mathematical notation rather than in English.This is a good way to pack a lot of material into a few pages, but it makes for pretty difficult reading.I really don't see how a person could possibly follow the exposition in this book unless they basically already knew the material.

Not a book that I would buy again
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.... You can not believe everything you read. I am new to SolidWorks. I do have a CAD background. After attending a SW VAR class, I'm an advocate!
The ONLY book to buy for new Solidwork users!
I bought a half dozen books to learn Solidworks 2006 and make the move away from Autocad.

a good book for non-beginner
After an absence of not doing logic design for 20 years, I want to pick up the trade again. I selected this book. It turns out to be an EXCELLENT choice. In one chapter, the author reviews everything I learned 20 yearsago on combinational and sequential logic. He then introduces VHDL to modelboth kinds of logic.
