Yes, the exam covers all the chapters described in the book. So, take your time, do not rush into the end, pay extra careful attention to the details and, certainly, it will be of great help during the test taking. This book really prepares you to suceed in the exam and also to improve your actual programming techniques. Good luck!

Great Guide For 70-315
I've been using this book for the last month as my only study resource and I just passed the MCAD 70-315 exam this morning with a 924.Amit Kalani outlines detailed information about each key point on the 70-315 exam and also provides good test preparation tips.The one piece of advice I can give is to go through each of the Step-By-Step exercises.
Great self paced learning
I started using this book with some experience in C# and .NET.I found it easy to read at my own pace - skipping what I understood and getting a clear understanding of what I didn't know.The over arching structure worked well for my learning style.
Great book for 70-315 exam and in general for learning ASP.NET
I used this book to prepare for the 70-315 exam, which I passed with very good marks. In my case it was very extremely useful to cover areas of ASP.NET that I haven't used in my everyday work. In my opinion, either if you have hand-on experience on ASP.NET development, or if you just want to learn, this is a great book. The author is not only knowledgeable on the technical areas, but is also a good teacher.

Good book at senior or early grad school level
The book serves as a good introduction to several advanced computing techniques.It isn't for beginners in computer science or networking, and it isn't worth the list price.Unfortunately, the topic isn't something you are likely to find in a career, so it isn't useful to general computer science students. Wonderful book but don't pay full price
This is a really good introduction to Parallel Programming techniques, but its overpriced. Buy it used. Not for beginners

A GOOD STARTING PLACE
This book is a good starting place for those who need to develop and in-depth understanding of a complex product set. It sets a foundation of understanding of concepts and processes and provides good examples of howto best use complex functionality.

How bad does it get?
This book appears to be written by and for 6 year old children.Theinformation is generalized to the point that it is of little help inworking with the actual product.Factor in the MANY typos and you have adifficult to read, entry-level book that barely rates as reference classmaterial, let alone an MCSE study guide. ... Acceptable
I didn't have the problem with this book that the other reviewers did. It prepared me well enough to pass on the first try. If you very recently passed 70-299, then this is a good book for building on what you learned for that exam by hitting the new areas needed for 70-298. Why would you want a behemoth of a book wasting your time by covering security from scratch when you just learned all of the basics while studying for 70-299?
Not worth it!
The MS Press books and Syngress titles will serve you better than this book.While there is some useful information in the book, it is not nearly enough to justify the purchase.
Won't help very much

OK book but not enought to pass...
Material is good but is missing stuff.Cisco should be ashamed with the ammount of typos.Check out the typos here: http://www.ciscopress.com/title/1587051486#Without the typos I would have given it a 3 maybe 4 stars.Needs to be updated.

Incomplete; not sufficient material to pass 640-821
I should have read the reviews on this book before taking the exam...I missed it by 5 points, 785/790. That's less than 1 question.

How does an abhorrent piece of study material like this even make it past the editors?I know that if I was an editor, I would NOT want my name associated with this book.Just go to the Cisco Press website and take a look at the 42kb errata file.There is a correction on almost every other page it seems!Please, save your money and your time and look elsewhere for study material.This book will more than likely cause you to fail the test rather than pass. ... Terrific Book
I guess i'm late, cus microsoft is now phasing out MCSD! Anyway i did both 70-175 and 70-176 yesterday (April 26th, 2004) and i Aced both exams (900 and 814 respectively). I primarily used this book, it covers everything u need to know. The great thing is that Mr. Foxall actually did thesed xams and understands exactly what they're about and as such does an excellent job in presenting the material. The chapter on Package and deployment and COM are the best i've seen yet! THIS BOOK + TEST KING practice questions EQUALS PASS.

Great Book
I am studying for my MCSE (all self study) & am no stranger to computer based testing. I had the MS Press Book for this, so I read it cover to cover & then tried to do Testking Exams... big problem, there were plenty of questions that were not even mentioned in the MS Press book. I got this book & after going through the gaps that the MS Press book left was very confident to pass the exam, & I did with a score of 928. Not worth the price
Having recently completed my pursuit of the 2003 MCSE, I can say that these books are nothing more than a highlight of the topics you need to know in order to pass the exams.ExamCram seems to have rested on it's laurels on this one.
Sets Framework of Study
As an MCSE, CCNA, and A+ certified student of computer certifications I found this series good for an intorduction of the subject(s) and an overview of the test objectives. However, and this is important for you to understand, these books alone will not help you pass the certification exams. Much of the material in this book is presented in outline form, and barely touches the depth of knowledge needed to answer the test questions. Also, as the following excerpt from the book description illustrates, much of the text of these books is dedicated to stuff seasoned test takers already know: "The books feature test-taking strategies, time-saving study tips, and a special Cram Sheet that includes tips, acronyms, and memory joggers not available anywhere else. The Cram Sheet is especially useful for last-minute review before the test begins." Not bad for a quick brush up of the material
The PrepLogic exam simulator CDs that come with the Exam Cram 2 books are only 50 questions long and many of those questions have typos and are repeated more then once!I bought the book pack partly because it came with this exam simulator software, so minus a star for that.Read more

This is not an MCSE exam guide...
Nor does it claim to be one.It does what is says it will do:Give a rookie a guide for setting up and running a vanilla install of IIS and Proxy server.If you're looking to be spoon fed answers on how to take a test, this book is not for you.

Completely Inadequate
This book doesn't even come close to covering the information on the exam.I relied on information from my instructor, class notes and Transcender exams to pass.

Good material, but becoming outdated.
The material in the book was good enough for me to be able to pass the exam, however it is evident that it was written atleast 12 months ago.The publisher should consider releasing a revised edition soon.

Goog Book but Sometimes VERY Dry
One thing is for sure about this book...Some of the chapters are (1) VERY dry, (2) have looooong run-on sentences and (3) at times are quite difficult to figure out their logic/order.Chapter 2, for example, took me nearly a week to pick apart the run-on sentences, eliminate the 'garbage', piece together the 'meat' and then try to make sense of what was being said.It was painfully dull!Some of the other chapters, too, were about as exciting as reading a dictionary.
Good material, but needs a good Editor
The material in this book and in the 70-292 Study Guide is very good and complete.However, the number typos, punctuation errors, references to missing or incorrect figures, and just plain wrong answers to some practice questions -- is all very distracting.It would appear that the final edit of this book was skipped in order to get it out on schedule.Unfortunate.Make sure you have plenty of hands-on experience before taking this exam, esp. if this is your only source of study material. ... MCSE_MCSA_MCP Windows 2000 Professional
Just passed the test today, and Glenn Weadock's book had a lot to do with it! It's the best I've seen with letting people in on what they need, and especially don't need, to know to pass the exam. And it works! As long as you use it with a 2nd book to compare the important points, that is. The humor in this book makes it an easy read. I also really liked the 2nd chapter, where he gives readers a concise overview of Windows technology in general, from Windows 3.x to today- It really helps tie everything together in a sensible way. With that as a foundation, the rest of the book covers what you need to know to pass the exam and nothing more: You won't be mastering all things 2000 with this book! In fact, having taken and passed the test today, I definitely want to emphasize the importance of using at least 2 books in preparation, if not more, because the exam is crazy-difficult! I used 3 of today's popular test-preps, and each one had a particular strength: Sybex (my favorite) for hands-on experience, ExamCram for straightforward essential info, and this "...For Dummies" book for readability and putting things into the proper perspective. Anyone new to IT would do well to get this book!

Good Prep
Don't make this your only prep, but do read it. IDG books are usually easy reads and are pretty entertaining too. I haven't taken my exam yet, so I can't say how well it prepared me, but I will know soon enough.

somewhat overrated (imho)
For the uninitiated, the Windows 2000 Professional exam contains a lot of material. For the experienced "pro" (whatever that means!), who has never taken an MCSE exam, Microsoft does their best at tripping you up, especially with its "more than one correct answer" and "scenario" questions. Incomplete book for the 70-228 exam
I started studying for the exam with this book and I noticed that this book has poor information for the following areas:
Great buy!
Though I have not yet taken any exam (aiming for mcdba), I find this book really good. I am one of those who wants to learn a bit a theory as well, not just the practical parts. And I find this book to cover all of my expetations... A little minus for the boring chapters about upgrading Sql-s 6.5 and 7.0 though:), I hope that when I get to the age when I am supposed to find me a work (and hopefully something that has with sql-s to do) that they have done the upgrading before I arrive:D

Good book
I just recently started my SQL class, so I don't know everything, but I do know that as far as books go, this one isn't bad. For people who just want to get a paper certifiction as soon as possible...and then get fired job after job after job because they still don't know..., I suppose it isn't so hot....maybe that's why these kind of books get a lot of bad reviews. Here's a hint: I think it was meant to be used in a course with an actual instructor, and yes, you just might have to think and put some time in on it. SQL takes a good year to get down anyways, this book is just meant to introduce concepts, terms, and other information. ... Read more
