Still Useful and got me going.
If you are doing #ID0-510 CIW Foundations or #IK0-002 i-NET+ then get a cheap copy of this book and you have 75% at least of the 510 exam and 100% of the other.I used this book only to pass the 4 hour CIW-A (Beta) Exam #ID0-510.Also if you are doing Server+ and Security+ then buy cheap copies of the other three books in the series, Sever Administrator, Internet Professional and Security Professional for the (at the time of review) current exams #ID0-450, #ID0-460 and #ID0-470 and add Master CIW Server Administrator to your CV.Each compliment some part of CompTIA's Exams.Also worth mentioning is Convergence Technology Professional #TT0-101 from the same testing organisation as this book hails which crosses nicely with Internet Professional and the forthcoming Convergence+ Exam (in cheap Beta) from CompTIA. I used all of these to get a good grounding for MCSA/MCSE, CCNA and CCDA.A lot of reading sure but many of the subjects and threads crossed each other again and again and each exam got easier and easier.After all just how many OSI models can there be?All this from one cheap book!

Outdated 1DO-410 was retired, and replaced with IDO-510
As far as I can there no CIW books that are much newer than 3 years old. Also, there are no books for the IDO-510. My guess is that after internet bubble burst, the demand for CIWs burst along with it.

Enough to pass the exam

Helped me pass the exam
Just passed my exam today with a 93%.I used this book as my primary study material and supplimented it with other practice exams I found on the internet. Excellent source for passing CIW-F.
This book did the job, and I passed the first time with a 92%. After reading the book, I went back and focused on the chapter highlights and the chapter exams.Whenever I found myself guessing, I went back and re-read the section in question.By the time I got to the real exam, the exam questions seemed obvious. If you are already comfortable with the material presented and are able to weed out the many mistakes and typos in the book, then you will certainly be able to pass the exam.I have never seen a book with so many mistakes in it. I Should have know better & they should have known better
No wonder Hungry Minds fell apart (and got swallowed by Wiley) [see hungryminds.com].I guessed I had much to learn about data security but it became clear the authors and Boson quiz writers (on accompanying CD) know little about the subject or are incredibly careless or both. I've found errors and inconsistencies both in the book and in the Boson quiz on the bundled CD without hunting for them.

Good reference book, covers exam topics
I found this book to be good.It covered the exam objectives and topics quite well.It also makes for an excellent reference guide to have whether you are taking the exam or not.It did however have a few editing errors, but you would be able to get the point of the authors.The test engine from Boson Software is OK.It does have a few errors (Questions that were answered correctly were marked incorrect, etc.).For a good practice test, try MeasureUP.com.Do the labs that you can, they help reinforce the lessons that you learn.I passed the exam with this book, but I also have the work experience and other training that helped too.

The 1D0-410 has been retired, and replaced with the 1D0-410. As far as I can tell, no books exist for the 1D0-510.

AWESOME STUDY GUIDE
I just passed this exam, and I must say this book was very well written. Everything on the exam was on this book. I was a bit cautious at first, buying a book with a "Dummies" title. But im glad I purchased the book. I passed the exam with a 90% finding all the sample questions just like the actual test questions. Highly Recommended!!!

Not the best prep material, but good enough to pass
I realize other reviews have slammed this book, but I didn't think it was too bad at all. I just took the CIW 1D0-450 exam today and passed with a 93% on the Internet Systems Management section and a 73% on the Advanced Systems Management section (83% overall), and this book was the only study material I used. Granted, this book could have used a little more thorough explanation of the advanced topics, and there were some silly mistakes in the testing material, but overall it covered 98% of everything I saw on the exam. The 1D0-450 is a fairly tough test, and this is not a entry level "For Dummies" type of book. I have also recently completed the Master CIW Designer cert., and this is the most difficult CIW test I have taken to date. Just be sure to read, and re-read, and re-read again every section, and take all the practice tests. Hey I got through it, and I'm sure with sufficient preparation so can you!

Not enough to get certified
I read the book, and I did understand it. I took all the practice tests until I was getting at least 95% (some of the answers to the practice tests are wrong, which does not help), used the flashcards, and still failed the exam. (Technically I passed the first part, failed the second, and failed overall.) Not enough to get certified

Good book for exam
Very thorough coverage of the program. Good reference tool. Not for the beginner.

Too much waffle and repetition
This book is rather a hard slog, mainly because there's too much waffle.It made me wince to have to wade through paragraphs like "Web Browsers are HTML interpreters that are designed to understand and render hypermedia.Not only can browsers read HTML files, but they can also read graphic files, sound files and other types of media formats". Good, but not good enough
First of all let me congratulate youfor your efforts in becoming an Certified E-Commerce professional, before writting this review I thought about this book a lot, I have to tell you that I read it from cover to cover and here are my thoughts: This book is extremely long, it talks about issues that you will not get on the exam nor they will be applied in real life, the test engine to my surprise had many, many errors, they were questions that will contradict themselves or sometimes you will find 2 correct answers when the test engine was only asking for one, futhermore, some questions had the wrong answer or were asked with insufficient information, bottom line it made it more confusing. Once again the CIW Bibles are worth the price! Everything you need to get you through the test and pass. Only book I used, and I passed!
This is the only book I used to study for the E-commerce exam and I passed with an 85 percent. I think it is very adequate for the exam, but perhaps has some extra material (like Actinic Businees and so forth) that you do not need to know.Read more

Not quite enough for the CIW v5 Site Designer
I recently passed the CIW Site Designer exam by studying almost entirely from this book. I scored an 80 on the exam. Even though I passed, I don't recommend using this book alone when preparing for the exam. There are questions on Flash and security, topics which are not covered in this book. I recommend supplementing this book with other material for anyone planning to sit for Version 5.

Good Enough to Help Me Pass
I thought this was a pretty good cram book. The CIW Foundations test is broken down into three categories: Internet Fundamentals, Web Page Authoring Fundamentals, and Networking Fundamentals. The book covers networking the heaviest which was good for me because that is my weakest of the three areas. Overall I thought it was a good preparation for the exam and many questions related directly to text I had read. Bad information
The book had alot of incorrect information, one being about the two main subcategories of DSL, it should have read ADSL and SDSL not VDSL and ADSL. Also I had a question on the test about a type of virus that was not even mentioned in the book and not to mention thast the book was writen very poorly with all types of grammer errors.
