Not a comprehensive study guide...
I purchased this book after seeing the excellent reviews. This is a well written book and the flow of material is good. However, this book does not cover all the processes. For example, there is no mention of communication channels and how to calculate them. This is a hot item on the exam. This book covers around 70% of the exam material. If you want to experiment on the exam, get this book, or you will be better of with Andy or Ritas book. They are proven study guides that will make you pass the exam.

This is Your Book
I have all the three best selling PMP exam books, and I've found that this is the BEST. I agree with almost all the positive comments about this book by other reviewers and I will not repeat them. However, I must say this is the only PMP exam book (that I know of) that explains those exam objectives in the beginning of each chapter which are covered in the chapter. In the following, I share my experience with this book in the areas which have not been talked about much in other reviews:

Lot of info, but horrible to read, review
I got this book for my PC Technology Class, I've used it for 2 weeks, and I just hate this book. The thing that gets me mad the most is that its ALL OVER THE PLACE. They'll be talking about the BIOS, then go to expansion slots for like 3 pages, and then go back to Bios's again (pg 197-208). It's very confusing to follow, they should have sections, instead of cramming everything without header titles. The only good thing I like about it is that is has a lot of info, but if you have the time, and patience to find it, then this book is probably OK for you.

Just In Time
Taking a computer class one night a week is more than enough for any average person w/ a full-time job. After the registration, the school location and the reality of how much books cost new these days. Amazon came through for me a week before class and this was after tracking all the various campuses and tips from friends. Buying the book used same me easily $30 to $40. The is in great condition, you would of thought it was new.

Good resource, but only to a point. . .
I enrolled in an online course with Thomson Education Direct (which has recently changed to Penn Foster).The course was designed to prepare me to pass the A+ exam and this textbook was part of the package I received after I graduated.The book is loaded with information and includes end-of-chapter questions and exercises to help you prepare for the A+ exam, plus a CD with further instructional material and test questions.I take the tests first thing, to see where I stand, and find that, unfortunately, the test questions are riddled with mistakes, but I think, No problem.Though the book is a fifth edition, the CD is probably a new thing and that could account for the mistakes.I'll just use the textbook to check the test questions and make sure they're correct.

A well written technical guide
I purchased this book for a class on PC Maintenance. It is a well written, articlulate book and assumes NO prior knowledge on the part of the reader regarding PC hardware. Great for a Newbie Computer System Administrator...
This book is 5 Stars for a newbie Admin.It is an easy read and covers the basics that an Admin should know.It exposes you to methods and ideas you may not have thought about when it comes to security.The book also mentions several software Apps to help monitor and protect the network.

Good, moderately Microsoft-focused, no Cisco
There's a lot in this book that is good. However, it's focused towards the future Microsoft server administrator, not the future router or switch maintainer. I'd suggest a CCNA-training book for that.

Not for self-study!
Please be aware that this book (and others by the same publisher)are meant for colleges and/or trade schools and thus the answers to exercises, labs, projects, etc are available ONLY to instructors. Furthermore, neither the publisher nor the authors maintain a website for errata so you are on your own if you misunderstand a concept due to typos and false information.

Awesome book for Network+ exam
While this book wasn't written specifically for CompTIA's Network+ exam, I found it extremely useful and informative.I have read many networking books, and this one explained the concepts very well, especially at what layers various hardware devices work.I bought it for a college networking class and kept it after the class was over because I thought it was so useful.I passed my Network+ exam a couple of weeks ago with the help of this book. ... good and easy
The book is good for a beginning however it has help to remine me of things that we sometimes take for granted as related to the tasks we do every day without thinking how we actually perform them or how a description of such action is worded. It has help refresh and renew my thinking on some things in MS word.I believe this book will enhance and refresh the key points of MS office.

Excellent Review for Certification Tests
This book is a wonderful review for the MOS Certification Tests.It covers all the tests - Word (both Core & Expert), Excel (both Core & Expert), Access, Powerpoint, and Outlook.Each section starts with a very basic introduction and steps through all the different tasks that might show up on the tests.

For newbies to Networking
If you are brand new to the world of network administration this is the book for you. It covers everything IN DEPTH, and will give you enough knowledge to function as a Junior Network Admin. It will give you the answers to questions most other books will not. This book is more of a text book for Network Administration as well as a cert guide. For those who are looking for a more "refresher book" or have been in the field for awhile, I recommend something that gets more down to the necessities of the test. I found this book a long read and since I have been in the Networking field for well over 4 years I switched to the Sybex 4th. edition. I still use this book as a reference book for things I don't understand and for real life issues.

Pretty good book
I got my net+ certification by using this book as my main source, along with some online q&a tests. It's not the greatest network+ book ever, but if you want to know the basics of networking (and want to be network+ certified) without spending too much money, then this book it's for you. If you want something more than that, look for another book.

Excellent presentation for a book!
Excellent book. Every chapter has Review Questions, Key Terms and an in depth Summary, not to mention illustrations, tables (and even pics of how the hardware and cables look like!). Each chapter is well written. The book is deep in material. Some books will throw you into the deep end of the pool for each topic. I like this author in how the reader is gently walked through so as not to get confused. I think its better than the exam cram book. I didn't notice the problems the other poster mentioned, maybe I better read it again to try to find what that person is talking about. ... Read more

Average, not more. Cut and paste from 2000 Pro?
I teach at a small college and just gave a course on XP from this book. My impression is that this is a repackaged Windows 2000 Pro book, updated with XP Pro screen shots. Since the two systems are so similiar, this approach works most of the time.
Kibble and bits, no real meat.
With so many unclear and shallow explanations and very little effort in actually teaching, and instead packaging a scrambled mess of facts and information; this book has left me disappointed and unsatisfied.
