VERY Essential
I've taken several university-level courses in Network design and security and I have to say that this book, which is a very easy read, surpassed everything that I'd learned in my classes.If you want to work in the Networking industry, this book is a must-have.

Best-of-class book at understanding TCP/IP
"TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1 - The Protocols" by Richard Stevens is probably THE book which I reference most often of any I.T. book I have. I believe I am on my third or fourth dog-eared copy (either the book becomes too worn out from overuse or, I think, a mischievous co-worker permanently borrowed one copy).Any book where I have probably spent over $200 in buying, and rebuying must be worth it - and "TCP/IP Illustrated" is worth the money!

Definitely my favorite book on TCP/IP. Doesn't nmatter if it's somehow out of date, if you need to *understand* TCP/IP you need to go thru this book.Illustrations and clear explanations are a strong point of the book.

Very good learning version
This affordable version of SPSS allows students to learn how to use SPSS without investing a large amount of money on the full version ($600 or so).This version is limited in the number of variables and cases it can store, so students looking to perform serious analysis would be better off to purchase the SPSS Graduate Pack.

Not for graduate students
Unfortunately I didn't see the part about the student version being limited to 50 variables and 1500 cases until I'd bought it.The class I'm taking uses far more variables than that.I am wiser now.

Great book !
I used Reporting Services since its first release. Have a couple of books on RS 2000 but this one is the first I bought on SSRS. Great book for everyone, detailed, easy to read, deep and rich in examples. Something very valuable is the complete code online available to everyone to download. I can conclude that this book is a must for someone who's starting with SSRS or wants to enhance the knowledge. It's a must in every bookshelf.

This is an excellent book for Biztalk, Only suggestion is read the Biztalk 2006 white paper from the Microsoft website before you read this book. The authors have presented the content in a very easy to understand manner, without beating around the bush.........

Larson is the Best
Great, easy to follow.Mr. Larson is the best SQL 2005 RS/BI author in my opinion.Also, I attended some of his sessions at DevCon 2006 in Orlando.He is very knowledgable and approachable.He takes the time during and after sessions to answer all questions.

crystal ix review
Great book, am learning on my own crystal reports and this book has met my needs and expectations.

Standard Revision of Solid Reference
The text is one of the first available for Crystal Reports XI, and is largely a revision of the same material which has been presented in previous editions (which covered earlier versions of Crystal Reports). As you would expect, it does a solid job of covering all the basics. It even goes into some intermediate details in a few sections.

Rally is Best Server 2003 Book!
Susan Snedaker has written an excellent text covering almost everything you'll need to know to get and keep your Windows Server 2003 Enterprise up and running. Its called the 'Best Damn Book Period' and after reading some of the others written on the subject, I agree it is the best--especially for the non-MCSE user.
Best written, most useful book so far
If you are planning to implement a network system based on Windows Server 2003 you will find everything you need in the pages of this book. It covers every topic you need to know to successfully create a secure and efficient Windows server (or at least as secure and efficient as a Windows server can be). The author does assume some basic knowledge of networking and so leaves out a lot of the basics, which is entirely appropriate in a book of this nature. The focus is on the Windows Server 2003 operating system and not on things like using IP addresses to subnet a network.

You don't have time to waste reading through arcane tidbits of interesting but useless information. learning SPSS and statistics
Pallant manages to explain fairly advanced statistical concepts like multiple regression, analysis of covariance, factor analysis and others, using SPSS. You don't have to be a stats major to be able to gainfully master SPSS. It does the computational heavy lifting. The point of this book is to learn the broad meaning of these concepts and how to interpret the results SPSS returns.
Excellent book!!!! But the 1 year SPSS license ......
This book is a "must have" introduction to SPSS. Brilliant & Highly Recommended.(The 1-year only SPSS Student version license is a bummer ... many students do statistical research that takes longer than 1 year to complete.) Perhaps the next edition will carry a 3-year SPSS license?

This is a very helpful SPSS book
I bought this book based on a recommendation from my advisor.It is a great way for SPSS users to find out how to go about conducting the analysis that they need to do.The help function in SPSS is not terribly helpful, and the manual that can be purchased for a lot of extra money is so large and combersome that it is also not much help.This book makes SPSS much easier to use.

Not casual reading but good
This could never be called a casual read, but it is a good read. I've spent much time in the Group Policy book, pair that book with Stanek's Windows Server 2003 Inside Out and you have everything you need to master Active Directory and Windows. Recommended.

A must Have in our Bookshelf
I've been studying to MCSA 2003. The tools and the explanations provided are easy to understand and are helping me in my certification for MCSA and maintaining my network at work, too. I'm very glad to have this books in my bookshelf.

Worth the buy.
I found it a very useful book, especially with all the downloadable forms. I felt it was a little light on user testing - but otherwise, very good. It felt a bit repetitive and that things were presented in an odd order sometimes, but it's still worth the buy.

BUY THIS BOOK!I wish I had this book a few months ago.It could have spared me from many of the nightmares I had while developing a college website.It includes a link to the author's website where you can find lots of forms that ask the right questions so that you can create the right solution.

This book takes a SWAG at a process that could work for web redesign
I use this resource as the textbook for the "Web Site Design" course I teach at PSU.My favorite thing about this book is that it supports my course approach that "everyone has a site" and "when you get a job as a web site (designer, producer,developer)OR have the responsibility of having a site dumped in your lap.... you will not be building it from scratch."

Thick, shallow, and full of technical errors.Don't go here lookng for answers, if you find them, they are equally likely to be from some prior (probably re-edited) windows 2000 manual, and sometimes just wrong!I read it from cover to cover...and it didn't get any better.

A must-have book for understanding Cryptography.
This book has really shed a lot of light on cryptography for me. I honestly can't put it down--I wish I had paid more attention in my statistics classes so I could be able to apply some of the stuff the author talks about better. I am about half way through the book, and I haven't gotten to the point where it's more of a chore than a pleasure to read it (something I can't about my other technical books).
Prepare to drink from the firehose
This book is really incredible.When it was first published in the mid-90's, there was almost no material available on the subject of cryptography.Now, ten years later, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of books riding on Schneier's coattails - but almost none have anything new or useful to say.Impeccably researched (with 1,653 references!) and unarguably complete, Schneier's expertise in theoretical mathematics, experience as a practitioner, and razor-sharp lucidity combine to make this the only book you'll ever need on the subject of cryptography.

Helps to get the job done
This book alone covers about 85% of what you need to know to pass the test.I would recommend a cbt or transender on the topic as well.

Currently I just finish reading this book. I didn't review an MCSE training kit because I didn't read the other three books.
not a good book, not at all
I would like to give it a zero star if it were there. I read it through but it totally disappointed me. it left so much out, totally uncovered, such as terminal server, which is listed as examinable part. Even the 70-270 book from microsoft press is a total rubbish. The parts covered are not deep enough to help you understand for the exam. Good for End User Initial Exposure to CRM
I think this book does a great job of introducing someone to CRM. It lets gives them a basic roadmap of how to get around and also what is possible and drives home the point that they need to work with a qualified professional to get the most bang for thier buck.

This is a great book, very user friendly for the novice computer user.

Excellent Book. Highly Recommended!
I just finished using this book in a self-paced, college course. It's an excellent one.I never had any trouble following the step-by-step instuctions and I rarely had to ask my instructor for any help. The only drawback is if you want to go back and do any of the exercises over again months later as a review, you can't, because you need the data files from the course. I guess I could have saved all of them but that would have taken about 30 floppy disks which is the only option I had. The Access database alone is huge. ... Read more
