The best book to start your Web application hacking experience
I recently received copies of Hacking Exposed: Web Applications, 2nd Ed (HE:WA2E) by Joel Scambray, Mike Shema, and Caleb Sima, and Professional Pen Testing for Web Applications (PPTFWA) by Andres Andreu. I read HE:WA2E first, then PPTFWA. Both are excellent books, but I expect potential readers want to know which is best for them. I could honestly recommend readers buy either (or both) books. Most people should start by reading HE:WA2E, and then fill in gaps by reading PPTFWA.

clarity in exposition
Dunham gives a clear explanation of the main ideas in data mining. It's a concise book, directed towards the researcher or programmer. Space considerations meant that some topics are only briefly but succinctly covered, like fuzzy logic.
Good book for those interested in Data Mining, Machine Learn
Currently I am taking a Machine Learning course. This book is really helpful and intuitive. My friends who are studying Bioinformatics also found it useful.

Show and tell book no insight
I bought this book with the expectation that the author would be able to provide some insight. I was wrong. This books does explain Concepts and Example of DW. This books is good if your just getting into DW. It would better to download the Oracle Concepts Guide and the DW Guide.

It's a good book.
I appreciate the book. Through reading the book, I think the readers will know to handle some real data warehouse issues.

Helped me pass the Security +
This book is covers the topic of Security in depth. It is very methodical in how it presents the material and it was a huge part of my success during the exam. I passed with an 813
In depth look at Security
This was the 3rd book I used to study for the Security+ exam. I started with the Mike Meyers book for security+, which was a good starting point for anyone just starting out on the subject and it's concepts. I then moved to the Sybex book.
Good, but problems
First of all, I passed the test with a 784 first try using only this book as study material and nothing else, so I have to recommend it.Although, it helped that I already had A+, MCSE, and CCNA certifications under my belt.The book is an excellent source of information and should be central to your Security+ study plan.

Forget 007
Secrets of Computer Espionage: by Joel McNamara is a must for any PC user. Staffed with so many examples (with a conversational funny tone) the book does a really good job. The book stresses the vulnerabilities and threats, explains in details the evolution of spy tactics, network eavesdropping and provide countermeasures as well.

This book gives you a points-to-points look-in on various core aspects ie: component parts & pieces, which earmark & characterizes the design of an effective database system
Excellent Information for Anyone
Realistically, software developers are not the only only people who utilize databases.Any person who professionally works with computers deals with databases whether they know it or not.The database may not be a physical entity like a SQL or JET file, but something more subtle or conceptual such as your computers file system, the registry, the Active Directory, etc.The ability to understand and leverage databases is of great benefit to all IT professionals, and this book is a great place to start.
understanding modelling diagrams
Relational databases have a well developed theory underpinning them. Often described in formal maths language that can be offputting to a newcomer without that background. The merit of Riordan's book is to show that you can often understand and design such databases, without recourse to such formalisms, which greatly expands the potential audience for the book.

Excellent book overall, with some minor errors
This is the best Pthreads book. The writing style is conversational, very easy to read and interlaced with code examples. The reader will progressively learn the subject, building on the accumulated knowledge. Coverage of multi-theading concepts is very complete. There are some excellent diagrams.
Excelent book to get you started with Pthreads
The book along with the code examples provided in O'reilly's web site provide an excelent starting point to the Pthreads programmer.

Good reference
This is a good reference for all into SAP Plant Maintenance. I believe it is one of the better books around on its topic.

An Excellent Book for SAP PM Consultants & End Users
As a long time SAP Plant Maintenance and Materials Management consultant, I have read or looked through most of the SAP Plant Maintenance related books (and of course have looked at the on-line help provided by SAP for different screens, transactions, and fields on a regular basis).This is by far the best book on SAP Plant Maintenance, not only from a consultant's perspective, but also for all super-users and to some extent the end-users of the Plant Maintenance module.

This book is a good introduction to Bioinformatics and to what it takes to get started in the field. Some reviewers deride it as too superficial or as too Unix-centric, but I think those are two of its strengths. The authors lay no claim to having written the definitive work on the subject of Bioinformatics, and they freely admit that they come in with a certain bias. If you are serious about Bioinformatics this won't be your last book anyway, but it'll get you started. Useful only for a reference book

Great resource, lousy starting point.
If you are new to object-oriented programming, start with a vanilla C++ book, such as Jesse Liberty's C++ in 21 Days. With that under your belt, you can easily discern what is Powerbuilder and what is object-orientation in the Powerbuilder environment. This book walks through every feature in Powerbuilder, generally from the simplest or most basic, to the more obscure or less frequently used.
Book lacks basic examples!
IF you want to own a book that looks impresive and does little to help youunderstand about Powerbuilder, then this is the book for you. There is moreusless information in the book then one can create an object class for.

This is not a quick guide to PowerBuilder but it's a really best reference book out there.Read more

Seriously outdated
Man, you can't keep selling the same book forever and keep everyone satisfied. I liked the way they presented the idea of BW, but it was seriously outdated. They should make enhancements and upgrades atleast one in two years

Step by Step guide to where?
Anybody buying this book to learn some BW will be very much disappointed. Like the way the book is organised but older stuff. I can't beleive the greedy publiser is still selling this book. Not only they should stop selling, also should recall the book.

Great book on Digital Certificates
I really got a lot out of this book.While I was not thrilled with the Microsoft-centricity of the book, I don't feel it detracted from the purpose of the book.They go at a reasonable pace, and do an excellent job at explaining complex subjects. An oustanding book aimed at an average audience

Great projects for exploring cartography
This book is a combination of tips and tricks that allow users to better use mapping tools that are already available and to understand how these various tools work. For example, there are explanations of why MapQuest got it wrong and how Fundrace was built. Most of the book takes advantage of free or open source offerings for the desktop and the Web.

Not a textbook, but a great resource
This book was assigned as the textbook for a graduate class in cybercartography, mostly because the professor couldn't find a book that really addressed the topic. And while this is nothing like a textbook, it's a fantastic resource for anyone interested in internet or dynamic mapping -- and the information is relevant beyond this (perhaps relatively narrow) discipline.
