5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book from a real expert
This is an excellent book from a real expert.5-0 out of 5 stars The book of digital crime
If you are new to this world this is where you should begin. Digital Evidence contains all the knowledge one could amass by obtaining PHD in computing. Especially when you don't have time for a Diploma. I have bought 5 books pertain to digital crime from USA and UK. But this is the one and only book I am recommending to any one in any continent who want to learn or new to this arena. All the other books in this field for Attorneys or with similar requirements are some what academic and may be boring. The CD-ROM accompanying the book gives you much needed hands on training, otherwise which will cost you at least US $ 4000, if you are to go to a training centre to do the same.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best computer forensic book available
Sometimes, defense attorneys have it easy: one slip-up by the prosecution and evidence is thrown out. Knowing that, law enforcement goes to great lengths to ensure that evidence is appropriately collected and protected. That works well in the physical world, where law enforcement has many generations' worth of experience. But in the modern world of computers and digital networks, where the simple act of rebooting a computer is enough to wipe out large amounts of evidence, law enforcement clearly needs thorough guidance. 5-0 out of 5 stars An informative introduction to the basics of copyrights
The Librarian's Guide To Intellectual Property In The Digital Age by Timothy Lee Wherry (Director, The Robert E. Eiche Library, Pennsylvania State University) is a solid reference and informative introduction to the basics of copyrights, patents, and trademarks and written especially to serve the needs and questions of librarians. The issue of what constitutes fair use, modern-day disputes over file swapping services such as Napster, common misconceptions about patents, and a great deal more, is presented in easy-to-understand terms, in a text that sometimes adopts a question-and-answer format. The Librarian's Guide To Intellectual Property In The Digital Age is a highly recommended addition to professional and academic "Library Science" supplemental reading lists and reference collections. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Intriguing grab bag of ethics
The Digital Dilemma explores ethical issues surrounding intellectual property and computers. This book is not going to give you a good background summary of copyright. It would be better to read it after having read a few up-to-date books on the subject. So if you are looking for an introduction to copyright law then go elsewhere first.
4-0 out of 5 stars Roadmap for the Future?
There is a grown literature and ongoing debate on the `challenges' and `trends' of digital copyright issues. Until now, the discussion has lacked a comprehensive synthesis. 3-0 out of 5 stars Beginers guide
An introductory piece at best. The book does not delve deep enough into the present issues facing intellectual property owners. Also, since different writers have written each chapter, the book is repetative. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An easy read in understanding the Microsoft Antitrust Case
With all the various information available concerning the Microsoft monopoly, it was wonderful to find an objective source that followed the events before and during the Microsoft case, analyzed the monopolistic tendencies of the software market in general, and compared this information with previous monopolies. The best characteristic of this book is that it explains the events and legalities of the case in such a way that it is not at all difficult to understand.

3-0 out of 5 stars an ok book
This book is ok,5-0 out of 5 stars IBM offers Crume's book for free
Just go to the e-business website at ibm.com/e-business2-0 out of 5 stars OK overview, but better alternatives exist...
The book offers a good overview of information security, though with a lot of "talk". I found myself scanning 75% of the paragraphs for the meat....I'm a software engineer, and have read "Secret's and Lies", which offers a much more thorough and better review of the subject. Buy it, instead. Not only will you get a better education, but you'll actually read the entire book instead of skimming most of it.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars There is better
I enjoyed this book but found 'Life and Death on the Internet' by Keith Schroeder to be more useful, informitive and interesting.Personally, I would pass on this book and get Mr. Schroeder's.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing to do with "anarchy online"
Platt's book caters to people who subscribe to stereotypes about the Internet. The main problem with this book is it's misleading title: "Anarchy Online." It totally leaves out all of the online contentbeing created by anarchists today, especially the hundreds of really usefulwebsites. Platt should stick to fiction, although this book could beclassified as fiction.

4-0 out of 5 stars good book, tackles ethics and legal issues head-on
I quite enjoyed both parts of this book."Net Crime" does a lot to put real computer crime in perspective -- not the media hype that most people are used to.It's not very technical, so non-techies couldunderstand and appreciate it.The section on satellite piracy doesn't seemdirectly relevant, but it's very interesting and does well to illustratesome basic "hacker principles" without actually saying so.(Allyou hackers that don't believe in piracy, don't trip, Platt doesn't tend toovergeneralize.) 5-0 out of 5 stars Remote Man
Remote Man was one of the best books I've ever read.It is about a boy named Ned that loves to watch T.V. he is 13 years old and lives in Australia. One day his mother called and told him to prepare dinner and he just ignored her and kept watching T.V.
1-0 out of 5 stars Sucks
This story sucks. I read it. The story is VERY confusing to follow, dosen't flow, has too many things going on and alot of characters. The thing that REALLY annoyed me was chapter 21. Ned and his friend Rocky are spying on two men, who are talking about how a friend was almost killed because he was a stunt double in the movie, Revenge with a Vengance. Then Rocky and Ned try to track him down and stuff like that.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exciting
I was lucky enough to meet Elizabeth Honey several years ago. She and her son were in our town for several months while she 'researched' New England lifestyles and American English for this book. It's wonderfully exciting to read about the Concord prison, the woods, Rt. 495, etc. I loved the way in which she used chat rooms as a plot device. And her characters are very believable. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It's fast-paced, humorous, and has a great message for animal-lovers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Review by Daphne Baylor Dean and Kevin Yeoman
Like most things in life this book had several good and bad aspects. We really enjoyed the diverse topics that the author explored. He wrote in depth on issues ranging from new media technologies, e-commerce, and privacy to hacking, copyright issues and indecencies. All these issues brought about some very thought provoking inquires for us as readers. We also appreciated the book's anti-commercialization stance on cyberspace. In contrast, one major drawback is the means by which the author heavily intertwined legal issues in every chapter of the book.People without a high interest for law may not appreciate the author's expertise in the field of law.Overall, we thought this book would be worth reading for anyone interested in cyberworld issues.

3-0 out of 5 stars Book Review
Our group enjoyed reading this book and were surprised how up-to-date the book was on current events. The book was full of interesting information about the history and future of the Internet. However, we found the book cited too many law cases and legal issues regarding the Internet. The author would go into great lengths to explain something when a simple statement was all that was needed. To conclude, the author did present a book describing how communication, technology, law, and society play a major role on the Internet frontier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Issue in Cyberspace
Samoriski helped the reader get the overviewe by starting with the simple issues before focusing them quite deeply in each chapter. He maked the readers understand the basic of technology in the Internet that is impacted by business. Moreover, he indicated how communication, technology, law, and society play a major role on the Internet frontier. In the last chapter, he gave some conclusion and discussed about the future of th eInternet. ... Read more
