Pls come out with latest version (my SAP ERP or atleast 4.7)
I really appriciate the author for his effors, The book would have been much better, if it was in the format like SAP-SD by Glen Williams.
Useful for people who want to know about ERP Project Mngmn.
This book is usefull for people without prior project management experience in ERP (and not only ERP) implementations. It is well organized and has a nice sequence of chapters. If someone already has experience in project management, then it is just a different opinion on the subject.

Very high level view
This book restates in somewhat clearer terms what the standard SAP documentation will tell you.It does not address the underlying principles of Project Management.The reader expected a treatise on Project Management and how SAP supports the various philosophies, strategies, tactics and techniques, instead, the writer merely glosses over the project management aspects and writes a series of explanations of SAP functionality within the Project System module.A better title would have been "SAP R/3 Project System - The Basic Functions".For the reader that does not have access to SAP documentation (avaliable free from SAP), or is interested in reviewing the standard delivered functions of the Project System module, this book covers the basics... ... Excellent book
I didn't have a very good undersdtanding about internal of COM. This book gave me lot of information regarding COM servers and threading and is a great book i suggest for any VB programmer who wants to know more about how COM works. Good overview of distributed java methods
Most books on distributed java cover only one aspect (eg. RMI) in a level of detail that is really booring and time consuming to follow.This book gives a good coverage of available distributed computing methods in java (eg. RMI, CORBA, Voyager, etc.).None of the methods are covered in great detail but they are covered well enough to understand them and to know what you need to search for information about if you do implement one of them.The real value of this book is that it provides a clear overview of what methods can be used in distributed java so that informed decisions can be made as to which one should be implemented in a project.The only downside I see to this book is that there are a number of gramatical mistakes.The mistakes don't make the book unreadable and can be overlooked because the author is European, and English probably was not his first language.This downside is relatively minor, and the author's English is overall very good.An editor should have been used to catch these mistakes. Oh no, not O'Reilly also!
Micro$oft is famous for its ability to push out new development technologies. The reason behind this planned obsolesence is obvious, every time they come out with something new people will have to open their wallets to "keep up." Great COM/DCOM book, for experienced C++ programmers
This book is a great source of information if you are interested in learning a complex topic such as DCOM. Be aware that this book requires you to have strong knowledge of C++, if you want to understand the examples. Although this is a great book, I'm still looking for other alternatives that will clarify the concepts of COM/DCOM in depth.

Not for the brain dead
This is an excellent book, detailing what can be accomplished. It is definitely not for those who have no understanding of databases. An excellent tool.

Read this book...but then...run into a brick wall
Frankly this is a nice book for beginers as well as a ref. source forexperienced data warehouse experts. The book very briefly, avoiding all theboaring and unnecessary details, explains the process for building a datawarehouse. Adequate at best . . . .
I was disappointed that the authors did nothing but gloss over the new data warehouse feature of Oracle 8i . Considering who the authors are (both high level Oracle employees) I was hoping for more in depth analysis. Thisbook cover just the basic of what Oracle 8i can really do. Little to noexamples make this book more of a theory book than on with practicaladvice. I would recommend getting a copy of Oracle 8i Data WarehousingGuide. Good book for every Delphi developer!
Having read several good (and some not so good) books on Delphi, I would have to say that this book has some of the best content that I have seen.It is not for the Delphi developer just starting out.It does provide good insight into several of the more difficult aspects of Delphi and Windows programming.Several of the sections (including Calvert's discussion of COM) proved to be very valuable.His writing style is very straight-forward and he gives many examples in the book to help reinforce the topics discussed.

Good survey of pre-web services EAI
Linthicum has an easy-to-read writing style and explains each technology he covers at the introductory to moderate level of depth.The descriptions are ample for any manager and useful for technologists needing a concise reference to get the big picture of the technology they are beginning to work with.There are lots and lots of clear diagrams.You can learn a lot fast from this book, especially if you are new to EAI.I have quite a bit of integration experience yet I found many sections quite helpful (typically in areas where I had not already done a project).
A book only for entry-level students
As an experienced EAI architect, I felt very disappointed at this book. The book aim either at high-level managers to give them an introduction of what EAI is or at students who don't know anything about EAI. It is full of lot of abstract concepts without any implementation plan or idea. Most of tech described are out of date.

Good information but code needs work
The book has a lot of good information though you need to be familiar with basic distributed programmins. The URL to download code does not work but i did find it (the code) at Poorly Written
I admit that my programming experience is rather limited, but this book made me feel like a complete .... There is no denying that the author knows what he is writing about, but he does not convey that information in an easily understood manner. Unless you already know everything there is to know about RMI, networking and advanced Java programming, stay away from this book.

Where's the beef
This is a good book for someone who does not know anything about storage and wants to get a clue. But if you are an expert this is not the book for you. I found the book lacking in many areas. The book only establishes the boundaries of managing data storage.

Very Good for Project Managers and Resellers
Toigo's grasp of the storage industry's current players and technology is strong and thoughtful. He walks up from techniques in managing disks to strategic initiatives by major vendors, which is not something many peoplecan do well enough to write it all down. Good But....
This book explains the subject matter well to the beginners. However, I was very disappointed in the way examples are handled. Actual code examples are very sparse. Most of the time, the author gives few lines of code and explains what you should do next. Secondly, I found the accompanying CDof little use. To begin with, the Source code could not run on PB 5.0. Itrequires an earlier version. All in all the book gives a good introductionto the subject, but is not hands on.

Not much information in this book
There is not a whole lot of information in this book. Even when the author is trying to present some information, it is not done in a clear and understandable way. Really disappointed.

great book for those that already know the workings of com/dcom, but want a better understanding of how things work under the hood (and way under the hood).this book is not VC++ 6.0 or ATL3.0 oriented - but you'll need to be pretty proficient in both or this is not your best use of funds.if you want the rest of the story behind marshalling, esp custom, std, and type lib, then is the best book i have found.certainly not a replacement for grimes - but certainly a notch or two above many of the WROX/Grimes products in both completeness and correctness. ... Not all that great
I'll admit that I have not fully read the contents of this book.I started off by going through the Skill Assessment and chapter Review Questions in order to evaluate where my weak areas are.Based on my experience with these mini-tests, I'm not holding out hope for high quality in the rest of the book.Many of the questions are unclear on what they're asking, and I've run accross several that are flat out WRONG in their answers.The CD test is useless, as it merely recycles the chapter review questions, and includes the same errors (plus others--like having the correct answer by a multiple answer (i.e., correct answer is both A & E) but only allowing you to choose one).I've used Sybex books in the past for my MCSE, and always felt they were of good quality, but this one is a definite let down.

Supplementary Book!
Use this book as a supplementary book in your exam prep.The Certification Bible is the daddy!

Better, but still needs improving & coordination
Having bought the 1st edition by Govanus, I was unpleasantly surprised by its insufficient content and rambling commentary about the author's experiences.When I saw the bad reviews it got, I decided to try Sybex again and buy this 2nd edition by the Klingon sounding Hryhoruk.It was definitely better and worth the expense.BUT, after having passed all the chapter exams with scores of 95 or 100, I failed one of the two final exams on the included CD, which asked a significant number of questions that were NOT covered by the 2nd edition, but were covered on the 1st edition!It seems that Sybex decided to use/recycle questions from its 1st edition in the 2nd edition without coordinating or checking on their relevance.This can be very upsetting on the day before taking the real exam!You need to find at least one other source of study, since I found this 2nd edition Sybex book to be really lacking in the troubleshooting part of the exam, which I failed.Fortunately, my strengths in the other areas brought my overall exam score up to 81%, so I did get the Server+ certification.Since troubleshooting is essential in real life, Sybex has to get this part improved so that you don't suffer from the paper certification syndrome of good theoretical knowledge, but little practical application. ...
