When industry leaders such as Cem Kaner and Bret Pettichord extol the virtues of this book you can be assured that it is great - everything they and other reviewers have said is on target.Moreover, you'd be hard-pressed to walk into the testing area in any company and not see a copy of this book on someone's desk. This book is about web testingin general, not just performance testing, and isa must have for the professional testing engineer.Chapters 7 and 8, on performance and scalability give a very good introduction to the subject,and include a great sample performance testingplan. I have been in web testing for 3.5 years and this was the first book I found on the subject.My only complaint is that it took so long to come out, but I won't hold that against Nguyen or Wiley.It is a superb introduction to the complexities of web testing, which despite the protests of standalone application testers, is much more difficult and technical than traditional application testing.Not only does the tester need to know the basics of application testing, he or she has to know about the complex technology behind the site or application, and Nguyen's book is unbeatable.I've recommended that everyone on my team read it, since they are all new to the art of web testing.I read it cover to cover and it didn't really cover anything I had not learned in 3.5 years of experience, but had it been published when I started, I would have been able to ramp up so much faster.I also recommend that application developers read it in order to understand the role of a tester and to develop professional respect for a much-maligned profession. ... full of errors, theory is pretty good though
Although to me some of the errors were obvious but for a beginner they might not be that obvious and you could get stuck with an error screen for hours and hours thinking YOU are wrong and the book is right, before finally discovering you need to adjust cause the book is just wrong.

Unfortunately, the code examples in this book are fraught with careless errors.What's the point of picking up a book to learn VS .Net if the code examples don't work?Moreover, the author's claim (p.3) of a website featuring code samples, fixes, and other helpful materials to supplement the book is simply untrue.That website (http://www.vbasp.net) exists, but has nothing uploaded.I wasted many hours trying to get code examples to work before learning through Amazon.com Reviews that others have had the same problem.How disappointing. ... Excellent for Much More Than Just eBay Photos
Using simple, lo-tech language and a wealth of color photos, this excellent book can teach anyone to arrange, light, photograph and even edit macro (closeup) pictures. I bought it sight unseen on a friend's recommendation, and it's even better than I thought it would be.
My eBay photos will never be the same
Not being a true photographer(strictly for business) I looked through many books hoping I could find one that would help me take better photos for eBay. That's when I stumbled on this little gem. I'm sure this stuff is old hat to photo pros and hobbyists, but to those of us who don't know our f-stops from our brackets, this is a God send. My photos look so much better, that I've gotten compliments from friends and buyers (who'd a thought that!) People ask me what kind of camera I use, settings, etc. and my answer is read "eBay Photos That Sell". If nothing else the chapters of Objective and Subjective photos will help most folks (and don't forget the shower curtain). Simple stuff I know, but it makes all the difference in the world. BUY this book! You won't be disappointed.

Highly Recommended!
If one takes a look at the items up for sale on eBay, many of the items have pictures. Some of them are stock photos from the manufacturer's website, but the great majority of them are amateur photos taken with a digital camera. The photographic quality of eBay is usually on the lower end of the amateur scale, filled with distracting elements, flash reflections and a host of other problems. The goal of this book is to teach the reader how to take product photos that sell.

a perfect overview
I picked up this book on a recent business trip to new york, and read it during the long flight home. I felt by the time i got off the plane that all the niggling questions i'd had about putting my business online (and especially integrating some really quite antiquated bits of our inventory system) had all been answered.i have referred to this book constantlywhile working out our new system. many thanks for a remarkably clear and relevant guide. this was money very well spent!

Utter impractical
It seems that author just band-aided chapters from different books - didn't even care about gluing them elegantly.Algorithms that are not even required are mentioned (similar to an educational research magazine) while none of the practices are touched.I found that the "ECommerce for Dummies" from Hungry Minds presented more in-depth and practical knowledge.Even passed brainbench test using that book compared to the one I am reviewing

To be considered a 'gem' in relation to its price.
I decided to give this book a chance in providing me essentialelements of a typical intraday technical trading system. Sure I wasn't expecting a copy-paste daytrade system that suits everyone.. if there ever was one...
Decent book
This is not your ordinary trading book, but one that teaches some real "usable" techniques.The book is broken up into chapters written by different people, so the tone of voice will change frequently.The prize of this book is the Seleznov breakout method, which anyone can use to trade profitably for life.That alone is worth thousands of times the price of this book. I'd recommend this for any serious amateur/semi-pro level short term trader who may be lacking a consistent trading system.

Strategies you can use
I have read many "trading" books, and find this one a pleasant suprise. Section Two includes a good source of trading strategies that work, each one written by people who actually trade. Strategies covered include 1) pure price action by Gary Smith, 2) breakouts by Mark Seleznov, 3) seasonals by Steve Moore, et.al., 4) patterns by Mark Etzkorn, 4) springs and upthrusts by Hank Pruden, 5) Bow Tie patterns by Dave Landry, and a few others.Read more

It wasn't the best out there, but there was some ok tips in there.

If you're looking for a guide that explains the basics of selling items around the house on ebay, this will do fine for you.However, if you're interested in starting a profitable ebay business, you won't find any great information in this guide.The market price for many items on ebay is extremely low, so in order to turn any sort of a profit you'd need a way to purchase items far below retail, and even below some wholesale prices.In order to make much money on ebay, you'll need to find some pretty good supplier connections - and this book gives you no insightful information on how to do so.The title of the book would be more appropriate if they left off the "and make a fortune" part. ... The Classic and Must Have
If you are new to Affiliate Marketing and got the job to manage your companies Affiliate Program or want to get this job, you should buy this book. It is also an item that should be in the library of a bigger company with a large in-house managed Affiliate Program as reference for new Employees but also for your Veterans.

While there is some useful information in this book it is pretty outdated.
Excellent information but out of date
Not too many things change faster than the internet. This book is chock full of good information and it is the only serious book on the subject available. Please issue a new edition! It is a couple of years out of date, which is a lifetime in web years.

Too old fashioned
This book provides an interesting framework but lacks the modern thinking of the Third Wave by Smith and Fingar and contains more of the old Business Process Reengineering stuff

Getting the Business Value from BPM
As a Trainer and Consultant in the Business process space it is important to read as widely as possible. This can often be a chore, but in the case of this book it was a real pleasure. Roger really focusses in on getting the Business Architecture right first and then drilling down into process. As with so many books this too can be viewed as several books in one. The first 1/3 or so is great reading for any manager involved in helping their organization move to being process based. The framework suggested is readily useable by all organizations. then the book does get a little more technical and might lose the business readers, but provides valuable resource and insight for analysts involved in process improvement.
A Business Process Management toolkit must have.
Rogers new book is notable for a number of reasons. It presents the subject of Business Process Management with a practical 'can do' approach that will appeal to organisation leaders and practitioners alike. Served me well as an introduction to web services.
To get right to the point, this book is written in a very easy to read and accessable style, with just the right diagrams and illustrations in the right places to aid in understanding.
Shipping and quality was great!
Book was practically new just like it was stated, and it didn't take more than 2 weeks to come which was PERFECT! There was almost no difference between this book and the new books =]

Great reading
The "Teach Yourself" series has done little to impress me until the arrival of this book. XML-based web services are getting traction as a truly standard way of enabling the service-oriented systems architecture. An architecture where systems can be built to expose services in such a way as to make it easier to integrate enterprise systems has been built many times already, but always ending up with constraints related to programming language, operating system and hardware. This book provides a good introduction to XML-based web services components including XML schema, WSDL, UDDI, SOAP and HTML with a comparison to the past attempts including DCOM and CORBA. The code examples require some analysis but are pretty helpful once you've taken the time to decode the XML and the scenario examples / case studies provide an interesting context to see how XML-based web services can be applied. ... Fun to read
This book is hardcore. Give a lot of info and can save painfull hours of try-and-faild. You need to read it.

And I thought I knew a lot about Ebay..
I have been selling on Ebay for over 2 years. But after reading this book I realize how little I knew about marketing my product. This little gem contains very valuable information about making the most out of Ebay's competitive marketplace. This book is interesting to read and gives clear step by step instructions for changes you can make to Market your Ebay items. Like I said, I thought I knew a lot about Ebay but I was surprised by how much I learned from this book!

A collection of tons of information!Too bad it is put together in such a poor organizational fashion.Difficult to follow from start to finish.
Very Resourceful...
This book is very resourcefull. It shows you various web scripting languages, provides examples and sample questions. If you are not familiar with scripting language this can be a starting point for you.
skips needed information
The book wastes your time talking about what is on the Internet (and what the Internet is - hello, the year is 2005!) instead of teaching you how to program for it.It is not a programming book but an extensive advertisement for off-the-shelf programs and various websites.The CD does not contain the information indicated in the book, nor does the website.I attempted to contact them about this, but received no answer.I have enjoyed other Dietel books, but this one really falls short of their standard.You better know VBscript or JavaScript before attempting to use this text. ... there is nothing but fluff in this book. there is nothing detailed, no real advice. the author is a rip off artist. he also sells tapes which i was stupid enough to buy and there is no information at all that is relavant or useful for trading.
Very good for what it was intended
This book is not a nuts and bolts book about trend trading.That could be outdated soon after the book went to print if the trends change.Instead, it is a real-life book about how to turn YOU into a day trader, by recognizing some universal psychological traps we all face, and others which affect only some of us to varying degrees.Reading about his costly mistakes in the Nasdaq bubble hit pretty close to home, and I needed to learn how NOT to repeat them myself.This book accomplished exacly that, so it was well worth the price.And I bought it used, so it came without the silly dust cover.

Don't bother
This book tries to cover all aspects of e-commerce on the internet but stays at a "dummy" level in terms of educating the reader about the specifics.It lacked depth and was too general for me to get anything out of it.Plus it is cluttered with many outdated and annoying web references that detract readers from the chapter readings.

A great reference tool
There are a lot of references to resources on the web relating to the topics covered in the book.Just what I needed!The book has straightforward and simple writing about the considerations of starting andrunning a web site for profit.Then if you want to do more research, thereare plently of URLs to start your research on the web about the resourcesavailable.Perfect for a beginner.This book also is showing up onbookshelves under the title "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Starting anOnline Business" under the same ISBN.Gordon Whyte is not givencredit as an author on this version, he just does the forward for the book.

Don't Waste Your Money
This book is copyright year 2000. Think about it! I just bought this book and I threw it away. I can't belive other people are selling this book on amazon. The title should be History of Affiliate Selling pre-y2k. There is No usable information in this book,Unless your are a history buff.
