This was the texbook we used in our Net+ class in Spring '05, and it will be used again in Spring '06.I still refer to it on occasion.It covers everything essential, and explains the topics deeply but in plain terms.The chapters are distinct, with appropriate diagrams and tables, and the index is elaborate, which make it a good reference resource.This book is expensive, but it's been worth it to me. ... Well worth the money, helped me pass
This book is worth at least twice the listed Amazon price. Not only does it have a LOT of 70-270 Prep Questions, all of those questions are included on the CD and delivered via the MeasureUp engine.
Good, not great
There are too many easy questions, many errors, and the explanations to the answers tell you little more than the obvious.For the price, it's not a bad way to get a bunch of questions though.

Good Theory Book for A+ prep
I used this book together with Q&A book and I did great. I took both tests the same day and i passed them. I just prepared myself one month studying about 7 hours per week. However, what I really disliked from this book was that the chapters order didnt match a+ studyguide. BEsides that, this book is really enough on a 80% to pass the test.

It's a great learning tool
This book besides the huge amount of information, helps you a lot when studying and learning the contents of what an A+ certified person should now, plus other things.
Bad buying experience from Amazon.Book has outdated CD.
I just purchased this book, ISBN: 1-59200-032-0, from Amazon this week and just tore open the CD and put it in my computer to install the test software.The installer cheerfully alerted me that this software only covers the 2001 test objectives, but that 90 days after the 2003 objectives are released, they would be downloadable from their web site, "http://premierpressbooks.com".While there is an errata document (which you should definitely download) dealing with the book portion, there is nowhere I was able to find any software update for the test.

Easy to read, but ...
I've not decided to get this one before because i already had a couple of SQL books for the 70-228 (Unleashed, 70-228 for Dummies and SQL in 10 min from Ben Forta) book's reviews were not so good either. But ... i went to a major book store last night and i was able to hold the book on my own hands and read some chapters. My 1st impression, after read a few pages quickly, was a good one. Nice explanations...a lot of graphics (i love that, it helped me a lot when i'm studying)It's the kind of book you like to read and you enjoy the lecture at same time. But ... but ... it is not complete and it just gave a quick brief on most of topics.
DEFINITELY Incomplete Information
I bought this book because 1)I have absolutely ZERO experience with Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2)I have used Sybex books in the past to help me gain knowledge of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, of which I have passed all exams.
Good Contents
Coming from Oracle background I am currently using this book to prepare for my MCDBA certification. I would not rate myself as beginner because I have dealt with MS SQL Server on many occasions but not heavily. I am pacing myself with one chapter a day. So far I read about 5 chapters and I would admit that the content is good. Like any other technical book, this one also has some mistakes. In my case I started seeing the mistake on pages 145 and 146. On those pages the authors stated that to see the file id you need to run in the SQL Analyzer the stored procedure sp_helpdb. That is not true at all it should be sp_helpfile. I caught that mistake quickly because I really understood the previous information given and related to file, and I also tested the stored procedures listed in the book. I did check the errata on sybex website nothing is listed concerning that mistake but there are some other corrected mistakes though on the website.

Excellent Book to prop the old desk up!!!!
This book has so many errors, and missed topics its not worth your time purchasing this book.I used the BCRAN Student Guide instead to pass this test.

Cisco's worst,Editor MIA?
I think, for this title, Cisco put 1000 monkeys in a room with 1000 typewriters for a couple of years and then published the results.Of course they made sure it wasn't Shakespeare first, to avoid those pesky accusations of plagiarism...which seems to be the extent of their editing on this title.The most glaring error is the author's repeated insistence that in public key cryptography one provides their private key to the public so information can be encrypted, then the destination party uses the public key to decrypt the information. WHAT!?!Please, please do not do that! C'mon Cisco...even Microsoft got this one right.At one point later on the author seems to demonstrate the process correctly.I imagine he got encryption confused with digital signatures.Ok, fine, but WHERE WAS THE EDITOR!? There are countless other places in the book where the author contradicts himself, and other places he's just dead wrong.Fortunately I have enough experience to spot some of these, but I'm sure not all, since I am obviously still learning. I don't trust the author enough now to believe that he's telling me the truth.This is the worst Cisco Press book I've gotten ahold of yet.This is the last test I have to take for the CCNP and I imagine I'll pass, but it won't be due to this book.Even the CIT book by Ranjbar was better than this.While his didn't really reflect what's on the exam, at least it was very well written.If you can get your hands on the Student Guide for the BCRAN, use that instead and UniverCD on Cisco's site to polish up the rough spots.Rotsa ruck!

I was extremely disappointed in this text.I have read several Cisco Press books in the past to prepare for certification exams, and have always been reasonably satisfied.Not so here.

Don't count on this book to pass
The book is less than average, if you count on passing with this big volume...you'd rather think 1000 times before doing so. Their is a lot of missing information especially with the infrastructure and active directory stuff...the easy part is NOT missig. Get a set like sybex.

Tough read but good information
The organization of the book is counter-intuitive and fails to present the information in an order that builds on previous chapters, but the information is accurate and broad in coverage.

Not JUST for getting certified
While this is a fine book for preparing for the Certified Macromedia ColdFusion MX7 Developer exam, it is also an excellent way for experienced Web developers to get up-to-speed with ColdFusion.
Great Study Guide
I have used ColdFusion for the past 7 years.I just decided to take the certification exam.I was using the CF Exam Buster (a software written by CentraSoft) to prep me for the exam.But I only got 50% to 60% correct in the demo exam.That's why I bought the study guide and I read it from the first page to the last.With a combination of CF Exam Buster and the study guide, I got a 77% in the certification exam and I passed the exam.So now, I am certified.

What a Fantasic Book!!!!!

Very Good
Both books cover more than you need to passe the CCNA exame, but they give you all the basics in networking and routers.
I wish I had not bought it.
An electronics technician of 8 years, I have a solid understanding of computers but I am totally new to internetworking and Cisco equipment. In my opinion this book is very poorly written and I do not beleive it was proof-read before it was printed. Since I am not a Cisco pro I cannot detect any of the errors between the information presented and how things really work, but I can detect all the inconsistancies of the information given.

Covers All of the Exam Objectives and then some!
I read through this book rather quickly as I have plenty of experience with Windows 2000 Security. It answered all of my questions and was the only reading resource I used to prepare for the exam. I found the exam questions spot on with the way the exam and nothing but case study questions! Working for both self study and classroom training.
Aside from being a Technical Instructor and freelance reviewer, I am also a Network Manager. I am currently involved in a migration from NT Server to 2000 Server with active directory. Well written and accurate
This is another excellent book from Microsoft Press. I'm not a native English speaker but the books from Microsoft Press are pretty good to read because Microsoft uses clear technical languages that is easy to understand.The questions, practices and troubleshooting labs are good resources to prepare for Exam.

Don't be a Dummy - don't buy this book
I used several high qulity PM books to study for the PMP exam.
Is not a PMP Dummies at all
This book help me realize how much I still need to study for the PMP Certification.Good organization, stupid jokes but quality information material.

If you don't spot the errors, you're not ready for the exam.
I thought the presentation of topics in this book was outstanding.Yes, there were some errors, which I picked up on easily.In combination with studying the PMBOK guide, I could easily spot the errors and correct them myself.I used the PMBOK guide to study the PMBOK, but I used this book to help with the organization of studying and in what order to learn the material so it made most sense.

START HERE FOR THE BASICS
There is a new edition to this series so I will not give this set an in-depth review.But I will tell you that I used this set as my core learning tools and that I am now an MCSE. Good to learn the product.Insufficient for the test.
I took and passed my MCP (70-210), but I got the Exam Cram to go with it. This book helped my learn the product, but was sorely lacking in the test area. Dull books that just rehash training material
I bought these books to help supplement the material I learned in the Windows 2000 classes I took at my nearby Microsoft training center.I was hoping to find new and revealing information on Windows 2000 in these books since they came from Microsoft Press, but instead it was just a rehash of the training material.The classes were much better.I suppose these books are okay if you can't take classes, but it is much harder to focus on material that is not very interesting if you won't have someone that can explain and clarify the fuzzy parts like we had in the class.I learned a lot more from Mark Minasi's Mastering Windows 2000 Server than from the self-paced training books that I read. ... Perfect mix of Bluetooth and Java
My prior knowledge about Bluetooth can be described with one word-superficial. Therefore, I hail the authors for making a brave move. Best book available for DBAs working with DPF

Absolutely the best DB2 book!
I just found this book, and after reading it wish I had found this years ago.This is the most comprehensive book on DB2 that I have ever seen.This book has already saved me a lot of time. The performance chapter is great and helped me improve the performance of my DB2 server by over 30% in less than a week.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
Todd should be ashamed of himself.I've used his material for my CCNA and it was fantastic.
Good overview, missing in some spots
This book does a noble job of trying to deliver the goods. Each chapter begins with a short list of the exam objectives covered - the same objectives that come directly from Cisco's site.
How to Pass CCDA
Unfortunately, this book is a miss. It missed out on too many objectives. Lammle does a great job with CCNA, and he's aterrific writer, but this book came out with too little research and too little attention to current objectives. Plus, there's a lot of obsolete material in this book.
