Very poor!!
I wouldn't waste your money. I am only on chapter 2 and the mistakes in here are stacking up. Spelling mistakes, incorrect information and questions that say to pick an answer from a to g with the correct answer being h make it far from the ideal book to build your confidence or knowledge.

I've just bought the book from amazon, and first of all what I can say about it is that it's very cheap comparing if I bought it here in portugal. the price here is around 83 dollars, so I could almost buy 3 books with that money. really, buying from abroad is much more pleasant than buying in portugal... As for the book... well, better wait for it! :D

Not so bad
I got this book with a little over 1.5 years of exchange experience and I know quite a bit but thought i could learn alot more and certify in it.Well this book did help me the 2nd time through reading it.The biggest help really was the practice exams.I took the study exams and learned more that way then with reading.I would recommend this book only to those that actually understand Windows 2003, 2000 and NT both directory structure and network structure.There is alot of networking involved such as firewalls and opening ports.Overall it is a good book. ... Covers Exchange Server 2003 in detail
The Sybex MCSE 70-284 book has enough information about Exchange Server 2003 to make you an expert, and it equips you with more than enough details about the product for the test. However, to pass the exam you will also need to know a good bit about Exchange and how it relates to various LAN/WAN scenarios that assume you have a strong networking background. Buy the book!
I just took this exam a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by how many questions came straight out of this book word for word! Microsoft must have asked Cybex for their questions to add to their pool. I bet 38 or so of the 50 questions I got came from this book. It happens to also be a well written and easy to understand book as well, I was able to find the answers for everything I looked for. If you want to pass in a week or two, buy this book, study hard and memorize these questions.Enjoy.

Best Exchange 5.5 Book You Can Buy
I was put all-of-a-sudden and out of nowhere put in charge of our Exchange 5.5 environment, and I didn't know anything at all about exchange.This book saved my life.It is easy to understand and at the same time takes you in-depth.This book is perfect for both novice and advanced admins.I highly recommend this book!

Far Too Basic
Other Exam Cram books are pretty good, but this book is the exception.It is far too general and seems copied from help files.The index is limited, e.g. only one reference for global catalog, and the over author's knowledge seemed questionable when he documents requirements for a global catalog and a domain controller (page 17) and fails to realize a global catalog is a domain controller.
not bad if you want to simply pass the exam
This was the only book I read before taking Exam 70-284 to become MCSA: Messaging 2003 certified, and I scored an 850.The book covers the essentials that you _need_ to know, and it was helpful to go through the scenarios and actually play with the server in a Virtual PC session.
Very nice prep guide
ExamCram books have gotten a well-deserved reputation for being lightweight and insufficient as a primary study guide. This book is an exception to that rule, however; it is much thicker (almost 500 pages) than most in its series and more comprehensive. I attribute much of that to co-author Orin Thomas, who also co-authored the Microsoft 70-292/70-296 and 70-299 Training Kits, two of the best study guides I've used yet.

I'd by this for a dollar!
Best of the bunch.Require a detailed read with plenty of challege questions from various sources.But basically the one you want!

Not recomended
I do not recommend this book for anyone planning to take exam 70-224. It does not go anywhere in depth as what you need for this exam. It only gives you a general overview of Exchange 2000 and some excercises in it are flawed and will not work if you follow the steps in this book.

Quite Helpful
I found this book more easier to understand than the "Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 Implementation and Administration Training Kit". This text is better organized with regard to the correct order of tasks to perform from the first chapter to the end. The other text tends to force you to search around. In addition, the text is more straightforward. Passing 70-224 isn't a breeze like the other exams. Experience is a mandatory to get Exchange to work properly with Active Directory. A bit of overkill but still a good book to have around.
Working on the transition to Exchange 2000 is a project that I am involved with. I am using the Resource Kit for a lot of planning and deployment ideas. I think that with book as a compliment to this book I will be able to pass the exam.Read more

Excellent Book
This is an excellent book if you are pursuing the MCSE cert, it's very easy to understand all the concepts of the Exchange Server 5.5 exam, the autor goes right to the point with very concise and easy terms, if you want to understand all the concepts needed for the exam, this is your book, it includes a cd with transcender demos, and a prep test tool that all by itself is worth the money you pay for it, you can use it to test yourself and see if you are ready for the real thing, and if you really want to be a master of exchange server 5.5 use this book for the intro to the basics and then buy Exchange Server 5.5 secrets by Guaraldi, Sides, Studt and Condon for the very technical knowledge.

This book is worth its weight in gold !
I just finished studying for the NT Exchange Server 5.5 exam using this book and passed the test !!! The book is very easy to read and understand, and the authors have taken great pains to give you all the information you need to know to pass the test. They even tell you what you DONT need to know! A true lifesaver for me and I would reccommend this to anyone who would like to learn about Exchange Server 5.5 and pass the test. Good luck folks **smiles**

Good enough to pass the exam 70-81
Without any earlier experience with Exchange Server or any earlier exchange exams, I used this book to study for the exam and passed it. Maybe not the best study guide available for the test but gives you enoughinformation to pass the test.

Confusing, repetative and badly laid out
I did not go beyond the first two chapters, mainly because of the 'paradoxical' answers to some of the questions, which I couldn't make heads or tails of, nor did a couple of the Exchange administrators here at work. The rest of the book may have been different, but I believed I was wastingmy time reading any further.

Good thing Microsoft Corporation and Kay Unkroth teamed together to write this utterly useless and purposely 'vague' book on exchange. What would normally be one sentence facts are instead replaced with long-winded paragraphs that insinuate features that will leave you longing for a straight answer (Does it or doesn't it do that?). How does Marcus Goncalves get away with this?
There is so much mis-information in this book that I can conclude that a)Goncalves never proof-read what he wrote or b)he doesn't know the productor c) he simply doesn't really care enough to be accurate. I get theimpression that he is a college student who spends much time on"theory" and little on practical application, in which case, inmy opinion, he shouldn't be writing for career people. Exchange Server 5.5
This book is moderately easy to read but requires a decent working knowledge of the Windows NT platform.The book covers the startup and installation process very well but lacks greatly in other areas such as configuration of the client services.If you are really good atremembering many different abbreviations and acronyms then you should haveno problem weeding your way through this book because it is full of them. For every new term that is in the book there is also an abbreviation thatwill go along with it that you will need to remember throughout the entirebook.I would also suggest that you understand a little about exchange andthat you work with it while reading this book or you will soon become verylost in the reading and most of it really won't come together until thatlast few chapters.If you're having troubles with your currentconfiguration of Exchange and you need some help with troubleshooting, Iwould definitely suggest this book because the last three chapters focus ondifferent problems that may occur throughout the design and implementationof Exchange Server 5.5.
