4-0 out of 5 stars A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide - REVIEW
When it comes to purchasing things on the internet it's all about getting then deliver on time, which you did. Great Job and keep it up. Thanx.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good luck with Amazon
The book is great... I gave a bad review b/c of amazons way of charging me 6 dollars to read the book online when I never saw any print about that... I didn't want to pay for that, and there is no way they going to let me get out of paying it.I would recomend this boook to any one intersted in A+ certification, however buy the book from anyone outside of amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Study Guide

5-0 out of 5 stars Dummy No More
This book is well written and well laid out. It can be used as a reference or as a learning tool for those less knowledgeable on computer stuff. I just advanced from Windows 98 and this made the leap/transition much easier and less confounding.

5-0 out of 5 stars "REAL DUMMIE" BEFORE..WITH THIS BOOK,MAKES A BEGINNER FEEL LESS LIKE A "DUMMIE"
MY FIRST COMPUTER...(DID NOT HELP THAT THE COMPUTER WAS A LEMON, AND THE COMPANY REPLACED IT)I NOT ONLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND "COMPUTER" LANGUAGE, I DID NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO TURN IT OFF WITH OR WITHOUT POWER-BUTTON.ANY ONE WANTING TO KNOW "HOW TO" SHOULD GET THIS BOOK.LIKE IT SAYS..YOU DON'T SIT AND READ IT LIKE A NOVEL...YOU HAVE A QUESTION...YOU LOOK IT UP IN THE BOOK...NOW IF SOMEONE WOULD COME UP WITH A COMPUTER DICTIONARY FOR ALL THE TERMS ETC. USED IN "COMPUTER LANGUAGE"!!!!BUY THIS...YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

3-0 out of 5 stars Its not a teaching book.
The book for the most part is having a discussion with you about Windows XP.Offering comments or critiques. It is not a book that I would recommend for learning via book.A Few areas actually go into depth.I see it as a PowerPoint presentation discussion about basics XP and should have been sold as.It lacked detail in networking and wireless needed for many user/owner issues. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book !
I used Reporting Services since its first release. Have a couple of books on RS 2000 but this one is the first I bought on SSRS. Great book for everyone, detailed, easy to read, deep and rich in examples. Something very valuable is the complete code online available to everyone to download. I can conclude that this book is a must for someone who's starting with SSRS or wants to enhance the knowledge. It's a must in every bookshelf.

5-0 out of 5 stars I just say it is excellent
This book is an excellent way to begin understanding this technology Microsoft released. Step by step explains the most important concepts about SSRS with tips and recomendations to do the things better. You can buy this book without any problem.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginner....Not for advanced
This book is truely for beginners who have no clue of signal Integrity. He starts this book with stuff like Ohm's law and how capacitors and inductors work which most people learn in high school.
5-0 out of 5 stars Probably the most readable book you'll find on this
Brook's book is exceptional in the clarity of the writing, esp. in explaining key concepts that most engineers are fuzzy on.This book is great at giving engineers an intuitive feel for basic electromagnetics and how it relates to signal integrity and emi.4-0 out of 5 stars A chasm has been bridged...
As an educator, lecturer and practicing designer I am given many books to read and make comment on. I find very few books that are able to bridge the chasm between the needs of a beginner learning about signal integrity and the needs of a professional desperate to solve design problems. This book is an excellent primer and reference for understanding the interrelationship between the board layout and the signal integrity problem. This book details design solutions to classic signal integrity problems and educates the novice in understanding the reasoning behind the solutions. There is a lot of nonsense being written about signal integrity and few people have the resources to filter out the chaff from hay. This book proves every principle presented with tested board layouts, demonstrated engineering principles, or documented laboratory results. Some people can see the world in formulas and some see the world pictorially. This book is rich in both forms of expressionism and its presentation will not exasperate the PCB designer who sees the world visually, or frustrate the engineer seeking equations for design representation. This book has been added to the required reading list for our PCB layout designers and product development engineering teams. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Big...but it reads like a novel!
Great book and easy to read! Author explain theory in basicterms and then, he give scripts or examples of how it should work or be written at TSQL level. Index's book it's almost perfect; for being a 1400 pages book it is not difficult to find any topic on it.You will find a lot of nice SQL 2000 tuning tips which add an extra value to the book itself. Could be used as a MCDBA prep. book and of course, in your job or if you're into Databases Admin. and Design business.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book
I was suprised but the book is really good for both beginers as well as experts. I learned a lot from this book even thought I have been working with sql server for a long time.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best there is...ok so now i think Sams is better than Wrox...lol
Well I needed a crash course in SQL server management and some T-SQL.I attacked this book head-on. The book is very comprehensive and i am very amazed. It really is a complete guide to the GUI on SQL server. If you want some hard core T-SQL guidance then get another book...in addition. Sams teach yourself t-sql in 21 days is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hardware and Software in One Book
This is a very well done book on a very topical subject. USB mass storage has gotten so inexpensive that its use in dedicated embedded systems has become almost a given. And here is one book that talks about all aspects of putting such a system together.
4-0 out of 5 stars An excelent introduction this unique topic
This book covers two areas of computer technology: creating USB based mass storage systems, using either rotating (disk) media or flash storage. It offers guidance and examples for each of these with a focus on the special requirements and limits of embedded hosts that access USB storage devices.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book on COM
This is much more than a COM book. The book spends a lot of time in the first half talking about the more general concept of interfaces, which is more of a software design topic. Then he shows how to implement those interfaces using C++ abstract classes and gives a very good discussion of inheritence, polymorphism, and virtual function tables. Everything is done in pure C++ so you can see what is going on. No wizards or macros to hide the details. The diagrams were very helpful.
5-0 out of 5 stars Technical, clear and succinct
I have been using COM for a while, then finally decided to dig further into its design paradigm and some implementation details. This book assumes knowledge of C++ and a lot of understanding of polymorphism. If you don't understand polymorphism, then it will be very hard to understand this book - but if you do, you will really enjoy reading it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great book uses simple C++ coding style for presenting COM
This is an excellent COM starting book. The author progressively builds knowledge and uses a C++ style that does not require you to memorize by heart the function, macro or template presented in page X or in windows.h. This simple, no distractions approach facilitates focus.

4-0 out of 5 stars ACOLORFULINTRODUCTIONTOPC
Any beginner or intermediate learner, who wants to be enlightened on the basic mechanisms of both computer and its peripheral devices, would be laying a good foundation by starting with this book. Without compromising its concise outlook, the coverage of this book is as comprehensive as it is illustrative. Its updated chapters are well-appreciated, although that anyone who currently owns the seventh or even the sixth edition would not be missing much by sticking with either editions.
5-0 out of 5 stars i love it!
incredible buy this book if you have any intrest in learning about the inner workings of a computer. NOT FOR A MAC USER. beginner intermediate. it helps to have some experience with computers. when reading this but it doesnt matter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good IT101 introduction to the personal computer
Now in its eight edition, this is a standard textbook for the IT101 class most colleges and universities now have as a graduation requirement for computer literacy. I know for a fact George Mason University uses this textbook, and the students all have good things to say about it. However, these students are mainly 18 and 19 year old freshmen, with only their personal usage of a computer to draw upon for context. Thus, as a previous reviewer put it, it will make you aware of the computer buzzwords flying around the office, and it is a good first exposure to the inner workings of a computer, but don't buy it expecting detailed information on personal and office computer repair and assembly. That is not this book's purpose, for its contents are very basic. Also note that what little the book has to say on operating systems is limited to Windows. If what you want are start-to-finish instructions for repairing a PC that are accessible for beginners, try "Repairing and Upgrading Your Computer" by Thompson, which was just published this month, March 2006, so it is up-to-date. That book shows how to troubleshoot a PC, how to identify which components need upgrading, and how to tear a PC down and then put it all back together. You could also stick with an old reliable title "Upgrading and Repairing PC's" by Mueller, to be released in its 17th edition at the end of March 2006.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful book
I recieved a PSP for christmas, but until I got this book I had no idea what a powerful machine it is! This book will teach you how to do anything you have ever wanted to do, including; build a battery pack, revert your firmware (without bricking your psp!), turn a one player game into a two player game, write your own homebrew applications, watch Tivo, take documents with you, teach your PSP how to read, instant message, and tons of other cool hacks! The accomompanying website is also a great help, since it is filled with homebrew applications! I also highly suggest his other book, Geek my Ride.

1-0 out of 5 stars This book is not a tutorial.
This book is not a tutorial on Apache. Forget about this book if you're seeking to implement the ubiquitous LAMP (Linux, Apache, MYSQL, PHP) combination. Perhaps you wish to complement your pursuit of a computer science degree with some resume enhancing practical skills. Or perhaps you're a seeking some IT certifications, or perhaps you're a hobbyist web developer - in all cases this book contains nothing that couldn't be freely found on an internet search engine. Most of the book's chapters consist of a series of Apache's features with each followed by a cryptic discussion that doesn't actually teach you anything. So unless you're a Apache expert looking for a handy reference to keep close at hand then please buy something else. Like a book that actually does the job of teaching you to do something with Apache.

2-0 out of 5 stars Weak and disorganized
After some years in the IC design business (mostly analog) I needed to teach a course on ASICSs. This book was the text specified by my predecessor. I did not like the book, and eventually read the Weste and Harris book in its 3rd edition. Wolf is not nearly as clear, complete and logically organized as Weste and Harris - no comparison.

4-0 out of 5 stars covers current ideas
A start of the art chip may well have over 10 million or 100 million transistors. How to design such a formidable device? Wolf gives a decent explanation to the student or engineer. You have to be careful here. The term VLSI has been in wide use since the 80s. There are scads of books with "VLSI" in their titles. Yet an unwary reader might end up trolling an obsolete text. With Wolf's book, the material reflects current design standards.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great COBOL tutorial
This book is written in an easy to read and understand format. A good refresher for anyone that needs it and will serve as a good future reference book. Very good simple examples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mainframe Programmers Reference
As a longtime mainframe programmer I have used Murach books for the times when I need a quick reminder of what COBOL statement to use and how to use it. Mike Murach has recently published a new "Mainframe COBOL" book. The Murach books feature a paired page format that has statement syntax and notes on the right hand page and detailed descriptions on the left hand page. With this format the book is useful for both the "seasoned" programmer and the newbie just getting started in writing structured COBOL programs.A new COBOL programmer can get good detailed instruction on how a structured program is designed coded and tested, the veteran can quickly access information on statement syntax and usage.
5-0 out of 5 stars An easy-to-follow guide for anyone learning the ins and outs
The collaboration of COBOL experts Mike Murach, Anne Prince, and Raul Menendez, Murach's Mainframe COBOL is a tutorial, guide, and reference especially for anyone charged with developing or maintaining COBOL programs. Explicit examples and sample code spell out COBOL syntax in the clearest possible terms, and much of Murach's Mainframe COBOL is divided into individual sections that teach the reader how to complete any given specific task, such as "how to code select statements and FD statements" or "how to join data from two or more tables". An easy-to-follow guide for anyone learning the ins and outs of COBOL.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good introduction to operating systems
If you are a fan of the other Deitel books, you will probably like this one as well.I used this book in an undergraduate operating systems course and found it to be very useful.I later used the "dinosaurs" book (Silberschatz et al.) in a graduate course and was quite disappointed by the lack of detail.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good intention != good implementation!
As many other reviewers have mentioned, this book has good content and very well written. However, the plethora of ancilliary information and cliche side-notes, mini-case-studies make what could've been a bar-non primer into a dreadful book. Even though I particularly think that OS is one of the bastions of computer science and thus I think it's a very interesting field, the authors totally missed their target audience insofar as design and layout is concerned! Additionally, this book is peculiar in that it tries to teach some OS examples using (of all possible languages) Java! What gives? Even my teacher (who usually defends this book) was upset about that one. And little by little the author manage to get a book you liked at the beginning of the semester into this horrendous text you don't even want to glance into. I gave three stars, because I do think that the content in the first five six chapters is really well explained and supported...overall...buy it if you must!

3-0 out of 5 stars Well written, but overstuffed with unnecessary material
There are some good things to say about this book. It's written in clear, plain language, with helpful illustrations and code examples.Key terms are highlighted and defined concisely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Helped me polish my expertise
I knew enough to do the basics, but not enough to take full advantage of the program. The book is a very helpful desk reference.I am not a professional, but I do make documents in publisher and work, as well as a few things in adobe illustrator. Now I know some tricks of the trade, and wondered why I never bought this earlier! Thanks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Has info. not available elsewhere.
I got this book for my brother, who just bought Acrobat 7 Professional to create fillable forms with special functions. He tried and tried to do what he wanted, but until I gave him this book, he wasn't able to figure out how to do what he wanted to. This book had the specific information that taught him how to do what he wanted. I was amazed, because he even downloaded a huge amount of information from Adobe's Web site in his search for the right info. and couldn't get what he needed.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not for Macs
This is not a bad book, but it's mistitled. It should be "How to Do Everything with Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for Windows." It ignores nearly all differences in the program and procedures for the Mac version, and nowhere does it warn you of this. Hello? Anyone home? ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Vivid descriptions
This glossy book has some of the ambience of a computer magazine and a Sharper Image catalog. Very visually appealing. There has been careful attention to make what might often be bland subjects like optimising your file view or removing unnecessary DLLs into something that grabs your attention.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must if you need to pass the first time.
Depending on your experience this may be the only book you need to pass the 70-721 exam. I did require additional material but this book was certainly the major reason that I passed the exam with a 917 score.
5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding XP
It is worth every Penny you spend. I will refer back to itfor years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Workplace Compliance Purchase
I am within hours of retiring from "Corporate America." Then, why would I purchase such a boring piece of reading material? The answer is, the yuppies who run the company think they are doing us a favor by making us learn about technology that will be obsolete in weeks. Even worse they require the cost of that training to come out of our own pockets. I needed a training package to get a better review and a small bonus. After taxes the bonus was only three times the cost of the book. Whoopee! ... Read more
