2-0 out of 5 stars Included lab is !@#$!$#@! Shame on Boson!
The books are good, and the tests are closer to anything on the CCNA test, although I did notice some of the simulations were buggy with incorrect answers, but Boson should be slapped HARD for including the hamstrung Router Sim LE version. The help does not work. The web connect interface does not work. 2/3rds of the labs are disabled and the ones that work have 2/3rds of the IOS commands disabled. This is meant to prod you into buying the "Full upgrade", at a cost of well over $150.That is quite lame.In addition, the internet scut on Boson is that the Full version also is very buggy and not worth even half the cost charged. The Cisco Academy in San Jose is very outraged at Boson for its poor quality.Ask anyone there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book
It is a great book which covers all topics in order to pass the CCNA exam. You have the router and switch simulator to improve and apply your skills.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Limited
Short and simple, this book is a bad buy.It does not provide enough detail to answer the test questions. The test is extremely difficult and this book provides aid for only 10% of the test questions.

I like it!It has the cheat sheet in the beginning of the book and a CD so you can take it with you were ever you go.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book was extremely helpful
I didn't have time to read the entire CISA Official Study guide from ISACA before studying for the test.I read this book cover to cover and used the official 2006 CD study questions from ISACA.I passed on the first try.The cram sheet that comes with the book was great and the notes & alerts that are bolded throughout the book also helped to remember key facts.I highly recommend this book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Complemento
Estos libros sin duda que sirven aun mas para reforzar el estudio para los exámenes.- ya que son oficiales trae unos tips que en otros libros del mismo estilo no lo mencionan.
2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat OK for Reference, Bad for Test Preparation
I bought these thinking that Microsoft would be in the best position to write a training kit to prepare for the certification tests, since they are, after all, Microsoft tests.Big mistake. If I hadn't used the Transcender practice tests also, I would have gotten a rude awakening at the test center. The MS books have some decent reference information, but they don't prepare you for the tests.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a comprehensive study guide...
I purchased this book after seeing the excellent reviews. This is a well written book and the flow of material is good. However, this book does not cover all the processes. For example, there is no mention of communication channels and how to calculate them. This is a hot item on the exam. This book covers around 70% of the exam material. If you want to experiment on the exam, get this book, or you will be better of with Andy or Ritas book. They are proven study guides that will make you pass the exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is Your Book
I have all the three best selling PMP exam books, and I've found that this is the BEST. I agree with almost all the positive comments about this book by other reviewers and I will not repeat them. However, I must say this is the only PMP exam book (that I know of) that explains those exam objectives in the beginning of each chapter which are covered in the chapter. In the following, I share my experience with this book in the areas which have not been talked about much in other reviews:
5-0 out of 5 stars Passed the Exam!
I've just passed the PMP exam after preparing for it largely from this book. I agree with another reviewer that quality of the questions in the book's Final Exam is very close to that of the real exam. Other things that I particularly like about this book are:

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for the exam
I really enjoyed using this book to prepare for the Network+ exam. I used another book from McGraw-Hill/Osborne and it just didn't help me as much. What I liked the most was the fact that the author did more than prepare me for the exam, he helped me prepare for actually supporting networks. Great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Passed it!
First off let me say that I managed to pass the Network+ test with a 715 (thats about a low "B" but a pass is a pass). I also used the Exam Cram 2 book as well because its always a good idea to study from at least two sources. One of the sources may cover something in more depth or is easier for you to understand then the other and vice versa.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good book
I found this book (the deluxe edition) well written and I learned a lot from it along with the lab and test CDs included with the book. As far as preparation for the exam, I used this book along with Craig Zacker's Microsoft Press Network+ Certification book. I passed, not with flying colors, but I'm satisfied considering I had very little work experience involving network administration. There were a lot of questions on the exam that the book did not seem to cover well, particularly the ones on fiber technology. The assessment and bonus tests that came with the book were, like the book itself, educational but not the best exam prep materials. With all the braindumps available it seems that COMPTIA has made the test unrealistically difficult. Even though I have very little networking experience, I find it hard to believe that network professionals have all the network protocols and associated cable types, lengths, connector names, and speeds memorized. That's the kind of stuff reference books are used for. So, although the book provides a lot of the knowledge network professionals have, it's not the best exam prep material and would probably be a boring read for those who have a year or so field experience. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars My opinion
This book was written for anyone to read.I have read many Reference books and none of them are as easy to read as this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Helpful but not complete
I used this to supplement my study while working on OCP certification exams (Oracle 9i database). The book has good information but not everything you want to know about Oracle. Frankly, the books helps but it is not complete reference. It would not be a bad idea at all to own a copy of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I think this book is worth buying. It builds on a foundation of basic computer knowledge and takes you into more advanced topics. It covers all of the objectives for the A+ exam but I would recommend that you use it in conjunction with other exam readiness material. Again, this book is not a waste.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible study material for the exam
I can't believe others gave this A+ Complete Study Guide great reviews? This book was horrible. I had to study other textbooks and materials so I can pass the real exam. If I just study this book alone, I would fail the actual exam. The book is so wordy! Blah! Blah! Why do I want to hear long sentences. Just get to the point! And the sentence structure was terrible. I don't understand what was going on most of the time. Just focus on the subject without the jargon. Not enough on Windows XP and networking, but many questions had these on the actual exam.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised
I am sure that this book will serve the needs of most of the buyers as a competent treatment of the subject area. I am studying for the exam and wanted two things: A large set of practice questions for drill purposes (the cd had 30 questions) and a portable reference copy of the book. The ebook included can only by read from the cd according to the text file that comes with it, but in fact for me the book was totally unreadable from the CD on a PC or a Mac with serveral different versions of the adobe reader that I tried. I am not interested in reading a 900 page book just to pass an exam and found that the dummies book plus the testking questions were enough. This book did not suit my needs at all. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Pretty much useless
This has to be one of the worst hundred bucks I've ever spent.Thank goodness my employer reimbursed me for it.Things that suck:
2-0 out of 5 stars No NAT...
Took this test this morning.I went through EVERY lab in this simulator and read through the Sybex book a total of three times before taking my test.I was confident in my answers until I got to the simulation questions.ALL...not one...ALL of my simulations were on NAT.Out of all 11 chapters in this simulator, not one of them went over configuring NAT.Not only was I surprised...I was a little upset because of the money spent to be confident in nothing.I went through the website for the upgrade to RouterSim 4.1 thinking maybe that's what I should have done before I took the test..and that too has NO labs for NAT.
1-0 out of 5 stars Total rip-off!!
I purchased this product brand new and was only able to use one of the two licenses supportedly available with it.Then I was able to log-on only once and was locked out with an authorization error.I have repeatedly attempted to contact this company, it appears they are not supportive of their product. The one time I did get into the program it seemed to be vague and very simplistic with prompts for upgrade purchases. To avoid an unnecessary headache, save your money and do not buy this product. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars I give this book a D+
I read the book cover to cover. Usally the book titled for the exam covers what is on the exam but this book does a poor job. Most of the Intro test is Subneting and Cisco commands while the book spends 3 out of 16 chapters on what is really important for the exam. One chapter for Subnetting I cant believe that. Its needs many more examples also for subneting the CD isn't enough. Don't even bother with the two chapters on commands just get your self a lab or Bosons. I just wish I had not wasted my time reading cover to cover. I wish I just got S..bex or some other book sooner I also used a video series. Pasted my exam its not that bad if you are studying the right stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book
This book was fantastic.Absolutely recommend it - used it to pass the full CCNA exam the first time. Also get the ICND book by Wendell Odom as well - the full CCNA exam is better covered by the ICND book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Networking review
I think that above title more interesting and really useful to get a CCNA cerification.

5-0 out of 5 stars RIGHT TO THE CORE OF THE EXAM!!
Are you looking to complete your Microsoft Certification? If you are, then this book is for you! Author William R Stanek, has done an outstanding job of writing a 3rd edition of a book that helps IT professionals complete their Microsoft Certification.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Training Resource!
William Stanek's MCSE Core Required Exams is the best training resource I've found for helping me to study for my exams. I swear this book packs in more than the 4 book set I bought previous to this (and stopped using in favor of this). In his pocket consultants, Stanek has proven he has a gift for getting to the point and being concise while at the same time being comprehensive. This book is not different. This is the single most useful training guide I've ever purchased. Excellent as a reference as well as a study guide. I can't recommend this highly enough. Every network administrator should own at least one copy of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent coverage and completely reliable
This is definitely a better book compared to others available. Although I haven't made it all the way through this book yet, I'd like to say that it's taught me a lot. I've been using computers and managing Windows Servers since the days of Windows for Workgroups. Just goes to show even though you use an operating system daily there are still many things you can learn about it. With the excellent content and practice tests, this book is a GREAT buy! I would definitely recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You can't be talking about this book!
I checked twice to make sure I was reading reviews of the book I am currently reading(now on Ch 8), because this is an excellent book. Before I begin - one caveat - I have the the Networking Basic, CCNA 1 Companion Guide (cc 2006) not the CCNA 1 & 2 Companion Guide. However, judging by the contents and excerpt it appears that Part I of this book is the same as the book I am reading.
2-0 out of 5 stars Crappy book
I am teaching a networking course and am using the CCNA 1 and 2 Companion Guide as the required textbook for the class. I am very surprised that I am presently on Chapter 8 and I am still talking about Ethernet. I know Ethernet is an important subject matter, but it could be reduced to two chapters at best. The book, thus far, is way too technical for the students in my class. Thus, it simply isn't for students who are beginning their journey into networking. For the bang for my buck, I would recommend Todd Lammele's CCNA book, something to the point. The instructor could expand on the important material that the students need to know and the book would stress key points. I am CCNA and CCNP certified with practical experience so I believe I am qualified to know what is needed for students wanting to enter the networking field and like I said, the book has good info, but it is spread so far apart and is too technical for someone with little or no experience. I have talked to the Dean about this book and have recommended that another book be used. Cisco books are usually good for experienced people in the field.

1-0 out of 5 stars Be warned
Don't buy this book unless your instructor specifically requires it.Terribly written with virtually no sign of editing, it's a struggle to read and, when covering extremely technical issues, virtually incomprehensible.Worse, the content does not exactly match the on-line curriculum, meaning that Cisco on-line tests typically ask questions about topics not covered in the relevant book chapter.Even worse, the answers to the tests in the book don't match the questions being asked.Buy the Sybex CCNA book instead; although it's not written to match the on-line course, it will help clarify networking, and not leave the reader frustrated and feeling cheated.

3-0 out of 5 stars Helps to get the job done
This book alone covers about 85% of what you need to know to pass the test.I would recommend a cbt or transender on the topic as well.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book just give you a background of window 2003 feature
I have this book because I purchase MCSE Training kit (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735619530/ref=pd_rvi_gw_2/102-4874099-2083325?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155) in order to prepare to take an MCSE certificate. Currently I just finish reading this book. I didn't review an MCSE training kit because I didn't read the other three books.
1-0 out of 5 stars not a good book, not at all
I would like to give it a zero star if it were there. I read it through but it totally disappointed me. it left so much out, totally uncovered, such as terminal server, which is listed as examinable part. Even the 70-270 book from microsoft press is a total rubbish. The parts covered are not deep enough to help you understand for the exam. For those who work on MSCE, I highly recommend sybex books in stead of Microsoft RUBBISH. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A must if you need to pass the first time.
Depending on your experience this may be the only book you need to pass the 70-721 exam. I did require additional material but this book was certainly the major reason that I passed the exam with a 917 score.
5-0 out of 5 stars Understanding XP
It is worth every Penny you spend. I will refer back to itfor years.

3-0 out of 5 stars Workplace Compliance Purchase
I am within hours of retiring from "Corporate America." Then, why would I purchase such a boring piece of reading material? The answer is, the yuppies who run the company think they are doing us a favor by making us learn about technology that will be obsolete in weeks. Even worse they require the cost of that training to come out of our own pockets. I needed a training package to get a better review and a small bonus. After taxes the bonus was only three times the cost of the book. Whoopee! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My main study source-passed the PHR
This was my main study source for the PHR, being that I didn't have $600 to drop on the "Learning System". I passed with a 651 (got about 92% of the questions right).I don't believe there is any one study source that will give you everything you need--but if you spend time with this book, make yourself some flashcards and spend a good couple of months with them before the exam, you'll be 85% of the way there. It's really pretty inclusive.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Prep Book
The sample test was different than the true prep test, but it prepared you well. The PHR exam was easier than I expected. It was not as theoretical as the book. I would definitely read this book, do all the exercises. Bottom line - you have to study for the exam, at least 40 or 50 hours. My collegues that did not put in the hours did not pass the test... regardless of the study aids.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK IT IS NOT HELPFUL!!!!!!!!!!
I used this book as my only tool for taking the PHR exam. That was a BIG mistake. This book is horrible. It maybe helped me MISTAKES in the practice test in the book and MANY MISTAKES in the CD_rom with practice test on it.The book also differs from their own CD_rom.There test question are very situational and specific where the actually PHR Exam is more generic and has very few situational questions. The sample test questions in this book and CD_rom are very precise with lots of information so it is easier to decide what the best answer is.The PHR exam is not.I just took the test and I don't' want anyone else to waste their time using this book as a study tool like I did.Look elsewhere for help.Go straight to HRCI and SHRM for your help. This book isn't worth the money. Spend the extra money and go thru HRCI or SHRM. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A prefect choise for CCNA exam preparation
CCNA INTRO Exam Certification Guide and CCNA ICND Exam Certification Guide by Wendell Odom are prefect choise for CCNA exam preparation. Both books are easy to read for non-native English speakers (like me), all concepts are well explained and illustrated with good examples. Books also covers all exam topics, I used only those books for exam preparation and I answered all questions except one.

5-0 out of 5 stars CCNA ICND Exam Certification Guide
Excellent book and I got it overnight. it is clearcut and precise and not techy talk
2-0 out of 5 stars Recurring problem
I purchased this book set and passed the INTRO exam easily but have failed the ICND exam twice. I found the exam to be much more difficult than the practice questions. The exam gave me 60 minutes and at the end of 50 minutes I still had several questions left. Starting to have doubts as to whether this book was the best source of my study material. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant. A definitive work.
This is by far the most comprehensive, easy to understand book regarding Unix Network Programming I have come across.Professors in most major university treat teaching unix network programming like brain surgery, they make it as difficult as possible. The book explain every concept inan easy to understand language, TCP, UDP,SCTP, etc, you name it is all here. There is so much to learn from this book for all users novice and advanced and it also makes an excellent reference book. Every unix network programmer should have this book by their side, this is the unix networking programming bible.Like we say in wall street, a great investment, highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars School Text
I was required to use this book for my networking programming class.I'm in my senior year of college and having quite a bit of experience with textbook, I can say with confidence that this is one of the better text
