A comprehensive look at the Windows CE 2.0 user environment
This book covers nearly every aspect of using the Windows CE operating system for handheld and palmtop PCs (most of the focus is on the former since WinCE palmtops are relatively new to the market). Each of the standard applications is described in its own chapter.Screen shots are plentiful.If you're going to buy just one book about using Windows CE, this would be a great choice. Windows CE ! Palm OS Programming The Developer's Guide
The information was not as detailed in some areas as I had hoped. It would be a handy reference guide except! The pages are separating from the binder and I expect that in a few months I will have many lose pages stuffed in the book, Especially in areas I reference often. A good reference book should withstand repeated usage, and this one will not.This book was bought new in mid November and has had just one months useage.

Excellent - Latest Edition will always be on my bookshelf
After dabling with a Palm for awhile, and browsing the 1st ed of this book, I decided to get serious about Palm programming. Frustratingly small amount of information here
Being unexperienced with windows programming outside of visual basic and wanting to program for the CE platform, I thought this book might be a good place to start. Never again will I buy another dummies book on programming(maybe gardening.) I was disappointed by the lack of basic informationhere. The author manages to supply you with just enough to make theexamples work, but not enough to do much else.

Great for those familiar with using the API
Anyone comfortable using API functions will have no trouble at all with this book.All examples in each chapter is demonstrated using API, and at the end of each chapter is a paragraph that discusses MFC options. Definitely not for the beginner programmer.

Good at teaching you the differences between win32 and wince programming and starting you off with everything. Not enough information and not specific enough for Palm PC programming. More geared at initiating different aspects of wince programming rather than a reference. ... Read more
