1-0 out of 5 stars Be careful of the title!
When I bought HomsSite, I was having some trouble understanding part of the program so I went looking for a book and found Forta's. When I got the copy, I went to the section where I was trying to solve the problem. (It had to do with the icons in the Resource window.) I got more confused because what Forta was telling me to do didn't match with the program. 5-0 out of 5 stars Really folks, how many books do you need?
I'm rating this book 5 stars because it does what it sets out to do. Plain and simple.3-0 out of 5 stars My First HomeSite Book
I borrowed this book from the local library. Actually I was looking for the HomeSite 4.5 for the dummies, but had to settle for this one since I couldn't find it. The book says teach yourself in 24 hours and I think it really meant it. I managed to digest most of them in a few days working to about 24 hours in all. It's a very simple book to teach you the fundamentals on HomeSite. I found it to be too brief in some of the topics. Just teach you the most basic stuff. It could be better if the book could give more examples. In summary, this is a good book if you just want to know how do get started. You will still need another book on HTML to do the more advanced stuff. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A good investment
I've been using HomeSite for several months now and finally broke down and purchased this book.I wasn't sure if I really needed it because HomeSite is very intuitive and I was already very productive with it.Even so, this is a very worthwhile purchase.I have only read some of it, but I discovered a feature that I've been misusing and a few others that I didn't really know too much about. Each of these, properly used, will save me time and I'll be even more productive.Because this book was coauthored by Nick Bradbury, the original developer of HomeSite, I have a better appreciation of his overall intent with HomeSite. It really is a product geared toward productivity and the more you understand that, the more you really want to fully master the software, because like a good investment, you'll get back what you put into it and much more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good job describing program features
Homesite 4.5 is an excellant program, and some of its many features are quite intuitive. But you KNOW there is much more power under the hood... if only you could figure out how to tap it.This book succeeds in doing just that.It does a <1-0 out of 5 stars Its not for dummies
It was a choice between Sams and Dummies. I choose dummies because it was the latest (4.51) and for dummies. When I read it though, it wasn't for dummies.I was looking for more of a step by step this is how you do it kind of book. Instead, it was mostly describing what certain things do without giving a real clear step by step this-is-how-you-do-it.Now I have to go back and buy another Homesite book because this wasn't what I expected at all.If you know what you're doing, then this is for you. I've used frontpage and am fine with it, but this book was way too advanced and general for me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The author has a Massive Head
I have met John W. Gosney, I know John W. Gosney, John W. Gosney is a friend of mine.I don't know about the quality of his books (I'm a sales guy, not a techie) but I do know he has a truly massive forehead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Empty Pages
I recently purchased this title despite its mediocre ratings. I was just starting to use Homesite and generally I find it much easier to learn new material from a conherent book, rather than from disjointed help topics. However, this book was very disappointing. It goes into great detail on basic procedures that any Windows-savvy person already knows, then covers the more advanced topics in a shallow cookbook fashion. You can read through many pages and distill the contents down to a mere trickle of actual information. I found the on-line help to be a far better resource for learning the ins and outs of Homesite. I can not recommend this book for users at any level of proficiency.

1-0 out of 5 stars I guess it's ok if you have *no* clue
I won't expound on all the typo's already reviewed.I'm disappointed that there is no meat to the book.It is a book of "click this button and you will get these results"There seems to be nothing more here than in the included documentation.Lots of verbage too.I don't need 5 lines of text explaining why the author chose to use an underscore as part of the name of the folder he created, or a whole page dedicated to the installation status bar.I bought the book for more detail on a few different aspects of Homesite and got absolutely nothing out of it.I wasted my money. ...
